I love coming to Bambu, however not so much this location. I still have a hard time finding parking lol. Despite that, I still love coming to bambu! I decided to try something different so I got the fruit addict. So yummmy!!! The cashier was very helpful and friendly. We got our orders relatively fast.. waitied about 5 mins or so after putting our drink orders in. Will be coming back to bambu to try different drinks! If you're in the area, stop by and try it! They also have bahnmi sandwiches too!!! Super yummy!!! read more

Suuuuuuper cute place.. I love their bubble tea. After having Pho soup this is a good option. We have this Passion Fruit Bubble tea. I like the colors and style, furniture, decoration and the staff are very friendly. Also I like this place because they close at 11 pm. read more

Bambu found a missing hole in the Minneapolis food scene and filled it! As a milk tea/boba veteran I thought I had my dessert drinks all in the bag, but I never knew that there was such variety with Vietnamese drinks too! The menu is large and varied with all kinds of fruits, tapioca pearls, jellies, and beans (but no jelly beans? Nah that prob wouldn't work) so making your drink selection might be a bit intimidating if you get overwhelmed with having choices. I'm giving Bambu a 4 star rating because of a 3 star drink experience and a 5 star experience: 3-star: I had the Taro Lover (bc I love Taro of course) and I was disappointed with the flavor overall. The ice in the drink did not mix well and splashed all over the table with chunks of ice that were so huge that they never really melted. The drink was kind of watery and didn't taste like much of anything. I didn't think I'd ever go back but a friend of mine wanted to try it so we went back. 5-star: This time I ordered the Smashed Avocado and my lord was this drink amazing! The creaminess that the fresh avocado provided mixed with the sweetness of the condensed milk and crunchiness of the shaved ice had me in heaven! It definitely changed my mind about the drinks here! Definitely going to be coming back! Just a lesson that you should always try everything twice! Haha read more

What the hell. I had no idea this whole time (ie. 28 years) about the expansive world of Vietnamese dessert (Chè). I've had basic boba tea and tri-color dessert drinks before, but Bambu's variety of Boba milk teas, Vietnamese espressos & blended coffees, and fruit smoothies are so impressive and fun. I tried the #2: Bambu Combination with red, white, mung bean; taro, pearls, pandan jelly & combo jelly, and coconut milk. It was sweet, had a little creaminess to it, and full of different textures. My favorite was the pandan jelly - so chewy, kinda like drinking/eating gummy worms if you're into that too. I also tried the pandan waffle - seriously, love the chewy texture! And the interior is rad too. It's not a huge space, but it's bright and clean, with pops of color and very entertaining Vietnamese music videos. It was a good time. I ordered the tricolor drink and the taro in it was spoiled, I told the owner and tossed it in the trash can right in front of her , the only thing she said to me was oh really am sorry we'll double check ... That it nothing on let me refund you or make you another one or a different one , what a customer service right ? I paid for a spoiled drink and she was ok with that I will never go back there I will tell all my friends about this so less people will go there read more

Amazing pandan waffles! I came here because I want to try the Vietnamese che dessert. However, the pandan waffles blew me away. It was crispy and soft on the inside. I shared one with a few friends, but I could have finished the whole thing myself! I also tried the #10 bambu favorite. I loved that it was not overwhelmingly sweet, like most dessert beverages. It had a very good balance of flavors. Once again, I was obsessed with the pandan jelly and everything else that came with it. The toppings were chewy and not hard. I can't wait to go back for more desserts! read more

Stopped in for dessert and ordered 2 mochi and a strawberry yogurt. I loved the chocolate mochi, but not a fan of the pistachio. The yogurt was good, I want to try more things! The menu is SO extensive and I literally don't know what anything is...I feel like I will need to research next time on what to get but everything looks great and the space was really awesome. I will note that people were eating food that wasn't on any menu at all so that is confusing for a first timer( it did look good but no clue on price or what it actually was:). read more

Shaved snow desserts! ! -tried their green tea flavor -total yumzzz!! With fruits mangos & strawberries & rainbow mochi& chocolate wafers on top of the padan waffle -love love love!! Since it opened, every time I walked past Bambu (usually in a post-Quang stupor) it made me realize that there had been a hole in my heart since moving to Minneapolis that Coco and other Tawainese-style boba places in Southern California used to fill. Bambu has totally filled the infinitely customizable boba void. On my first visit, I got a taro tea with egg pudding and also tried my friends' more adventurous drinks off their specials menu. Everything was spot on. The toppings/add-ins were the perfect texture and not too sweet and the teas were tasty, too. They also had samples of the pandan waffle which was surprisingly delicious and a completely new texture/flavor for me. I enjoyed the extremely clean and fresh looking decor and the cozy fireplace. It seems like it could be a great place to post up and do some reading with a bubble tea, especially once it starts warming up again. Service was friendly and fast! I will definitely have to add this to my go-to desserts/snacks list of eat street spots. read more

I'm Really Mad at Ashley C for telling me this place exists. While I've been able to resist the donuts at glam doll I think I'm going to be way less successful at resisting Bambu. For one half of the menu if full of fruit smoothies with yumminess added which feels like some thing I can justify as health food.. The chewiness of the Jellies is an addictive sensation. I had what was references as a tri color dessert, it wasn't what I was expecting from my many trip to quang but it was very delicious in it's own right. I might be on a mission to try everything on the menu. Those gosh darned pandan waffles are so yumms. I don't know how Ashley C was able to share hers. If anyone had approached my waffle there would have been some hands slapped away! I think I'll be making a stop there this weekend. Get ready to see all kinds of check ins there :) read more

I finally made my way to this cute, little Vietnamese cafe located on Eat street next to Rainbow restaurant and Quangs. This place is seriously a gem I love the modern and contemporary decor & There is even a small, electric fireplace. The ambiance and environment is casual and fun. Lots of ample seating & cafe is very clean. The menu offers a variety of drinks and desserts for you to choose from. For drinks they have options from smoothies, to juices, teas and milk teas and coffees. The staffs are welcoming & friendly. Service is also quick. BEVERAGE NOTES: -I ordered the Bambu Special Che. Loved the beverage and all of the ingredients were very fresh. Some of the ingredients include fresh coconut, jelly, Padan, coconut juice and few others. -My boyfriend got avocado smoothie w/ pearls added in. The taste was perfect but it was a tad bit too thick and creamy. Still delicious though . I'm definitely going back again and look forward to the next visit to try out other beverages. Next time, I'm definitely going to "dine" in and play some of their games they have available. read more

My family absolutely loooves to come here. Pair it as an after dinner desert or mid-day snack and you are golden! Especially on a hot day like today! It also has a super hip atmosphere (music is hit or miss) but the smoothies and Che are amazing. Haven't been disappointed with anything on the menu yet! read more

I am crazy about bobba teas just lately I haven't been to some places that was my go to because it was just like drinking starbursts or not enough bobba I don't know I just wasn't feeling them anymore Till I yelped this place I don't know if it's new but it's new to me I ordered #10 my first time here and I fell Inlove I felt like it wasn't too sweet just right it was a hug in a cup lots and tons of jelly u can taste the coconut juice I litter didn't speak for 10 mins drinking this it was like a meal and a drink at the same time very satisfying I feel Inlove I came back next day to try the green latern which is basically yellow beans puree into coconut juice and green jelly and sugar in had this drink in Japan and I could never find it in the states with the exact taste and omg I found it here I loved it very feeling tho to warn u but again it was like a hug in a cup They sell food as well I haven't tried them but when I see people order it I'm like dang I should have order that next time I will People just go this place has so much in there menu just go seriously the best in the south side minneapolis read more

The ambiance is decent. Large tv screen plays videos - we saw a bunch of kpop karaoke mixed with Latino music videos when we visited. They have a sofa for larger groups and I appreciate the effort to create a place where people would go to drink and chat. But price wise, I think it's a joke. We ordered the mango shaved ice for $7.50. It's plated nicely and all but the amount of mango barely equated to a tablespoon. Are you kidding me? I'm not paying for mango essence, I expect to eat mango if you call the dish mango - am I right?! So we felt ripped off for this petite mound of shaved ice with a tablespoon of mango on top. Why have I never tried BAMBU back home in Hawaii?! Soooo good and refreshing! Literally came back here two days later after trying it for the first time. Cute, trendy interior, quite a bit of seating area. The worker here is super friendly. She just kinda smiled when I freaked out about there being Bubbie's mochi ice cream for sale and was patient with us trying to decide what we wanted. She also let me sample the pandan jelly (which is absolutely addicting!) when I asked her what that tasted like. I got the mango fresh fruit tea which came with bits of mango and basil seeds. Love that add ins were free, I added grass jelly. My friend got the Vietnamese iced coffee with coffee jelly and holy crap! That thing was strongggg and almost syrup like. Once we diluted it a little with water it tasted really good. I liked the coffee jelly better than the grass jelly as it had more flavor. Second time around I got the matcha milk drink with coffee jelly, grass jelly, and pandan jelly. Best matcha milk drink I've had! Really wish there was a BAMBU back in Omaha..you guys need to try it! Every time I come here, I want to try their other drinks and desserts but I always end up getting the ché. My favorite is the Summer Delight because of the combination of different textures with the jellies, beans and water chestnuts. The drink isn't very sweet, which some prefer it that way, but not for this girl with a huge sweet tooth. I'm glad they have simple syrup set out so people can sweeten to their preference. Also, the decor is a plus. Cute, chic and minimalistic. I love sitting by the fireplace while enjoying my dessert. read more

I went to Bambu for the first time in Seattle and I was HOOKED, so I am very excited that Bambu has finally made its way to Minneapolis! My boyfriend and I came here today on their Grand Opening! They are located conveniently on Eat Street right next to Rainbow Chinese Restaurant and Quang's. Parking is street parking only but it's all free. The staff are all nice and super friendly! The store is bright and has a fun ambiance. It's spacious with adequate seating. The decor is adorable & contemporary. I'm obsessed with the wooden floors, white brick walls, and greenery around the shop on the tables! There are just as many options here as there were in the Seattle location. They have a variety of smoothies, juices, teas/milk teas, coffee drinks, and chè/desserts. There are pictures along the walls of each of the desserts along with the descriptions - which I find helpful, especially if you don't know what some of the ingredients are. We ordered: - Bambu Special Chè - so refreshing! I love that they use fresh coconut - Jasmine Milk Tea with Pearls - delicious and not too sweet - Honeydew Fresh Fruit Tea - fresh taste but a bit too sweet Prices are fair considering they use fresh ingredients. I moved here from DC and there is a BAMBU about 45 minutes away from where I lived so I was super excited to find one a lot closer to home in Minneapolis! This is always our go to place when we are craving Asian type desserts. My order is always the same every time - #10 Bambu favorite and a pandan waffle. I know I should try another drink, but it's hard when #10 has all of my favorite things and nothing I dislike! If you have never had a pandan waffle, give it a try. It's not overly sweet, it's crunchy right when you get it with a gooey center. We crave it sometimes and make a point to go there to fix our craving. I've tried to make it at home and cannot seem to get it right. Note that it does take a bit longer for the waffle as they are made to order, but it is worth the wait! I usually go with the fiancé and because the parking is limited, he usually waits in the car while I go in to order. read more

I love Vietnamese desserts and I'm super happy to see this Bambu location in MN. - Ambiance: Nice and cozy. They have a patio in front of the store. I love the white wall and the little decorations. - Service: A-ok. Similar to what you'd expect from other places like Sencha. - Prices: Slightly higher than other Bambu locations that I've been to. - Parking: Street, free parking. This place is deliciously amazing!!! I got the number one and it was literally fresh coconut juice like the cracked it opened and all the fruits in my drink were fresh as well. I was expecting Longan from a can and probably coconut meat from a can but it was all fresh!!! I also got a pandan Waffle and if was so good. A hint of pandan in a somewhat dense waffle. But so good. Oh my gosh, I'm in love with this place. This is definitely the place to go if you're seeking out Asian desserts. Subtly sweet, but utterly satisfying and pretty to boot. Prior to me discovering Bambu, I had a difficult time finding good Asian desserts that I was craving from my travels abroad. Minnesota isn't necessarily a prime location for this. Now, I don't have to go too far. Everything is made fresh to order, and they actually do come out looking as amazing as the photos suggest. I tried the #6 fruit addict and their shaved snow. I can't wait to return to try more of their menu. The smoothies seemed to be a popular order amongst the other visitors. And on top of everything, the place is super cute. Next time, I'll plan to stay a little longer to enjoy the scenery. read more

I have had Bambu in the west coast, so you know I was really excited to FINALLY get one here in MN. There is parking in the back, DO NOT PARK in Rainbow Restaurant's parking lot unless you enjoy getting your vehicle towed. When I first walked in, I thought to myself, "how cute is this place!". There was no one when I arrived. We were greeted by a young lady. I ordered the #10, Bambu Favorite- Hat Luu Surang Sao Banh Lot. Super basic, I know. I am afraid to try new things. I also ordered the Pandan Waffles. The Bambu Favorite dessert is filled with coconut milk, pandan jelly, red tapioca, and grass jelly. This drink came out fast. My oh my was this delicious and refreshing. I am not a huge sweets person, and this was perfect. Not too sweet and not too bland. I love how I can eat the jellies and drink the juice. Its like a two for one treat. I ordered 2 waffles, this is the reason why I will not give this place a full 5 stars. It took about 20 minutes for the waffles to come out. When I ordered the waffles there was no heads up they would take 20 minutes to come out. I had my dessert and finished it and the waffles still didn't come out. That was a disappointment. When I FINALLY got the waffles, they were piping hot and crisp. Just the right amount of sweetness. My love for waffles just keeps growing fonder. Overall, this place was pretty good. I am impressed with the interior and the desserts that are offered. If you haven't. I would recommend giving it a try. read more

The smoothies with tapioca pearls are great. The problem is that the service is so slow. It takes about 20 minutes or so to get your order. I won't go out of my way just to visit this place. Would rather go somewhere else. In addition, they don't have parking. Only street parking. read more

This is a great place to stop for a dessert after having dinner in the area. They're not all about the sweet treats, although they do have mochi and macarons. The space is small, but cozy enough to sit and chill out for a spell. They've even got games to play occasionally and an area that looks like a fireplace. It's simple...though the menu can be daunting because it's different than the normal. Just try something you think you may like the first time...and the second time around, if you did like it...try something new. I'm a big tropical fruit fan, so my general go-to is the Fruit Addict. My friends like the passion fruit one and the avocado smash (sounds interesting, but is actually quite good). My cousin ended up getting Thai tea, which isn't all that adventurous, but he liked it enough. It's a cool spot. The service is good. The space is clean and pretty minimalistic, except for all the posters on the wall giving you an idea of what your order may look like. TLDR: definitely worth checking out read more

I have been a regular at Bambu since it opened and visit it numerous times a week. I loved it! However, the quality and service has consistently been subpar since they opened their second location. There have been times when I waited close to an hour for bubble tea, and it wasn't even super busy. The boba has consistently been clumpy for the last several times, regardless of the time of day. Each time, I think it's a fluke but continuously am disappointed. It's hard to enjoy the drink. Additionally, they have ran out of ingredients numerous times as well. The long wait and mediocre boba have definitely lessened my trips there. I hope these issues get resolved because I really do love Bambu. read more

This place is pretty legit which serves authentic Asian deserts. I am lucky to find this place to satisfy my craving for Che. The place is well-decorated with variety drinks, desserts. I got the number one on the menu which is recommended the most. I am prefer not too much sugar so I got my order as the way I wanted. I been here twice in 2 week: the boba tea was good but nothing special, the shave ice was actually ice cream with toppings nothing like the picture and they ran out of everything I want after I ordered and pay for it! We wait it 30mins for 2 drank and shaved ice cream. My favorite thing here is the dessert drank: "omg it hit the spot, probably the only thing closed to customize Chinese dessert drank" i got me coconut milk: taro pudding, lychee jelly, red beans, fruit jackfruit & longan. I had last week and I been thinking about it since...only reason it 3/5 stars is because the organization it took 20 mins for my drank and there was nobody there. 3 workers and it still took so long. I haven't been to a place like this before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. My friend heard about this place, and wanted to come here for dessert. I'm so glad she convinced me to come out and try it, since, tbh, I didn't even know I liked Vietnamese Che! Before this, I had experienced "tri-color" at Hmong market and decided I didn't really like it because it was so sweet. But I loved this - I got the Taro lover both times and although I tried a few other things, it's still my favorite. The taro lover is a pretty pale purple base of taro pudding, sprinkled with chewy bits of pandan jelly - which is actually a bit neutral tasting and sort of looks like gummy worms, topped with coconut milk and ice. The combination is wonderful, sweet, chewy, refreshing, indulgent. I'm trying to describe the taste of taro, and coming up short. It's sort of between a potato and sweet potato, with a subtle flavor, that is extremely versatile in both sweet and savory dishes. Taro is also my favorite ingredient in Chinese hot pot. But I digress, Bambu was a wonderful place to experience something new. Everything seemed fresh and clean, and beatifically simple. I also liked the music they played - I didn't understand the lyrics but the melody was soothing. There's also a faux fireplace, that it still very inviting with some cozy seating placed in front, I loved the little touch of a blanket on the couch too. The 2nd time we were there, we sat at a table, took advantage of their basket of cards and played a few competitive rounds of uno while we sipped on our delicious drinks. Met up with a friend to study which this place turned out to be perfect for it. To my surprise, it was probably much quieter than a caribou or Starbucks. Business was definitely steady though. People were in and out. It was my first time and on a Saturday morning which was also Chinese New Year's day. My friend and I received little red New Years cards which had money in it. I thought it was so kind. (Don't expect it though, it was a special for Chinese New Year.) My friend and I ordered Vietnamese coffee. We were told the coffee there is made slightly different because they add a secret ingredient. I'm glad they told me once I ordered so it wouldn't be a surprise. I needed something hot anyway. Once my order came, I sipped it and didn't mind the taste. I can't figure out what the secret ingredient could be but if you're looking for straight Vietnamese coffee, go down the street, but you may like the one here. It was delicious and the right temperature. I can't believe I finished it, all 16oz. and that was their regular size. There's a reward system you can join. After you spend so much, you get a free drink. I look forward to it since I'll be back to try their Che which my friends have been raving about! read more

Salmon rice was good, we were able to add eggs for $4. The chili oil is very hot so be careful how much you add. 4% discount if you pay in cash. Gratuity added for parties of 5 or more. Then I saw signs on the Shuang Hur building for a (new to me) Vietnamese joint in the same building. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! My Huong is an 8-top hole in the wall across the parking lot from the rear of El Nuevo Mariachi Restaurant. The place is homely, small, but brightly lit and plenty of day light through the picture windows overlooking Eat Street. It's a big contrast to Pho 79 type places that are dim and short on ambience. The clientele shows. Instead of just a bunch of Asians throwing down Pho, it's a mix like you'd see at Quang or Eat Street Crossing. I was seated right away, was greeted by a cheery Vietnamese lady, and ordered Hu Tieu Bo Khu (Beef Stew Noodle Soup.) It was a dish I haven't seen before even though I have been to so many Vietnamese places (see my other reviews and lists.) The dish came very quickly, and I was shocked that they didn't bring it with a veggie plate. Oh well. Well the best way I could describe Hu Tieu Bo Khu, its basically a pot roast over noodles. So the beefy broth like a less spicey version of Bun Bo Hue, with flavors of lemongrass and star anise, nicely garnished already with what would have been on a veggie plate. The broth was delicious, slightly sweet with the carrots, and the beef was fall apart amazingly stewed with deep flavor. There were other menu items like Curry Chicken pho and a Stewed chicken rice dish I'd have to return and try!

Overall it's a great value and I will always prefer mom-and-pop operations over the sterile, corporate "industrial chic", neon-sign spots that are all the rage.

I told my wife after our first meal at Diane's Place this weekend that I compared the first bite (which happened to be the green scallion croissant) to my responses to certain music. As a musician and audiophile, hearing something moving or stirring can illicit a very visceral emotional response. I experienced a very similar response with that very first bite. My appreciation for the art of cuisine brought to perfection by Diane Moua literally caused my eyes to well up. This may sound like hyperbole, but it is not. The egg rolls were light and crispy and oddly nostalgic. The bamboo & cabbage swimming in coconut curry was my entree. On its own, it is perfectly balanced with the right amount of salt, acid, and umami. I tacked on some sticky rice and Hmong hot sauce...use with caution! It's potent but so delicious. Given Diane's background in pastry, don't skip dessert! We loved our experience so much on Sunday for dinner that we very quickly made a brunch reservation for Tuesday. Connor and Simon were extraordinarily helpful and knowledgeable about the menu.

The menu had some very eclectic choices. I would say pretty standrad breakfast choices with a lot of flair. I got an egg white omelet with jalapeño and buffalo cauliflower. I wasn't expecting this to be as good as it was. I was struggling between that and the caramel apple french toast, to which our server said "you can get one slice". Ok done. I'm actually really glad I only had once slice because it was so sweet. My biggest disappointment was not having a non-pork meat option (other than impossible meat), but I can look past that. The space is like being transportes to the 80s. Bright colors. Synthesizer heavy music. Just all around a fun vibe. Make a stop at The Breakfast Club today.

Apple fritter unglazed and Chocolate old fashioned were both yummy and fresh. Not overly sweet. I'd definitely visit again if I'm in the area. So many other donuts to try.

The donuts themselves were very good and definitely lived up to the positive reviews. They were fresh, flavorful, and worth trying if you're in the area. The location, however, made for a very unusual experience. The IDS Center felt almost deserted during our visit, with only a handful of businesses still open. It gave the building an unexpectedly empty atmosphere, which was a bit surprising. We also had a difficult time finding a restroom, and no one we asked seemed to know where one was located. While the setting was a little odd, the quality of the donuts made the stop worthwhile. If you're planning to visit, just be aware that the location itself may be a bit different than you expect.
