This is my second time getting taking out from this location. There's lots of seatin available, , but ironically I've yet to see anyone dining in. That said, I guess grabbing a table should be easy. It may even be easy snagging one of parking spots in the back (enter through alley). Otherwise there's street parking (on side streets). The two staff members working when I went were pretty welcoming and polite. One was packing up the takeout orders, which thankfully included mine. I don't know if it's due to what I order or the small quantity, but my food is always ready as soon as I arrive (within 15mins of ordering). The Egg Roll has been consistently good, crispy, and flavorful. No complaints there. This time I decide to try the cream cheese wontons. Very crispy, tasty, but a little low on filling. One major downside is they didn't serve it we that sweet sauce. They gave ample duck sauce packets, but I just ended up using the sweet and sour sauce that I have from Trader Joes. The wings were a disappointment. They're cooked hard, actually too hard. The skin was tight, the meat a bit dry, and the flavor bland. Que Viet is a quiet little place nestled in Northeast that also makes some of the BEST Vietnamese food in the cities. Like most Asian places (in my experience), it largely depends on what you get, but the beef and potatoes dish here CHANGED MY LIFE. The sauce was incredible, and the crispy potatoes (but not dry as chips!) contrasted perfectly with the tender beef. I've been wanting to try that Vietnamese coffee since I saw the Yelpers enjoyed it last year at the Kickoff to Summer at the Minnesota State Fair. This year, I came prepared with Lactaid and man, that is delicious!! It definitely beats Starbucks! Last year, when I was with my Yelp friends, I had the egg rolls. This time I ordered everything. The egg roll on the stick was my favorite along with the Vietnamese coffee. The cream cheese were OK; I think there is a hint of sugar in it, which is not to my taste. My husband isn't a fan of coffee in general, but he loved the egg roll and cream cheese wantons. The staff were friendly. I was offered fish sauce or sweet and sour, but I didn't need it. On a Saturday night my wife and I decided to try Que Viet knowing they serve the State Fair eggrolls. We arrived and were greeted right away and we did not have to wait for a table. It was a pretty chill atmosphere and it was easy to have a conversation. We ordered eggrolls, beef with pineapple, and a pork noodle salad. Everything came out very quickly, which was a nice surprise. The quickness does make you wonder how fresh everything is. All of the dishes had wonderful flavors. I would say that the sauce on the beef with pineapple was a heavy sauce. It had a great flavor, but the sauce was just a little too heavy and thick. The service was exceptional! Went to Que Viet today for pick up as I remember as a kid it was really good but it was so underwhelming. The sweet and sour chicken has an overwhelming tomato taste and a thick sauce. The egg rolls aren't as great as they used to be but the sauce is only fish sauce, no chilis or flavor in it. The hot spicy chicken was the best of the three things but nothing I'd go out of my way for. We order their STATE FAIR SIZED eggs rolls, pork lomein, pho tai, and chicken fried rice. Everything was solid and fresh. The lomein was interesting with angel hair style noodles, not necessarily my preference. The fried rice was fluffy, and the pho was decent. Despite not having a great parking situation, I really enjoyed my meal here. I tried their famous egg roll at the state fair over the summer, so I already knew going in that was going to be a slam dunk. My wife decided we were trying something new, and she had heard that Que Viet was the place to try. For Appetizers, we ordered Egg Rolls, Cream Cheese Wantons and Butterfly Shrimp. The egg rolls are huge and delicious. The sauce for the egg rolls was mild and provided a good additional taste. The wantons and shrimp were good, and enjoyable enough. I wasn't fond of their menu. It only provided the name of the dish, with no explanation of the ingredients. There was also nothing that explained a heat index. I went with Beef Pad Thai, asking the waiter for medium heat. My wife ordered Chicken Chow Main. My son ordered Chicken over Rice. Each dish was plentiful, almost heaping. Beef Pad Thai: The dish looked fantastic when it arrived. I'm not being mean, but the dish had no taste, and it was zero heat. My wife and son also tried it, agreeing that the dish was somehow tasteless. I poured all of our remaining Egg Roll sauce over it, which gave it mild flavor. Chicken Chow Main: Overall this had a good flavor, but the vegetables were lightly undercooked. My wife liked this better reheated the next day, softening the vegetables a little more. Chicken Over Rice: My son quite liked this dish. The chicken had a great flavor and the sauce poured over all of it was perfect. The chicken was tough to cut with a fork, but eventually my son used a spoon to cut the meat (no joke) Overall the meal was fine, but not excellent. Ordered - Egg Roll Vermicelli Bowl (4/5). If you didn't know, Que Viet is known for their egg rolls, largely with having a stand at the State Fair, Pride, and other major events in MN. The egg rolls are really crispy and packed with meat and veggies that goes with a light fish sauce. This dish was pretty good. I think some other meat to help diversify would be better though. Overall, this wouldn't be the place I go to for pho or more traditional dishes but I would if I'm looking for all types of dishes to cover different palates. read more

I met up with a friend here for lunch and we both had terrific meals. The reviews are right: the food here is amazing. Definitely worth the trip. Definitely order the egg rolls ($12 for 2 huge egg rolls) and they are phenomenal. Ya gotta when you're here. We split them and loved them. I had the sweet and sour chicken (breaded) served mixed with the the sauce on it. The chicken pieces were large, so they don't skimp on that. He ordered the hot and spicy chicken, which was also great, and does pack serious heat. Service was pretty good, and steady. As others have noted, the restaurant is spread out over several rooms. We noticed the one server was the only one running out all the dishes and waiting on tables. There were a couple of kids were kind of floating around, cleaning up. We ended up having to flag someone down to ask for refills, not really sure why the kids wouldn't step up for this. I'm not knocking the staff for this at all, just found it very odd. The ambiance was solid. The only problem I had parking. Apparently there's a very tiny lot for only a handful of cars behind the building, and street parking in front of the building is limited, only 1 hour from 10am to 7pm. Traffic along Johnson Street (the restaurant street front) moves fast and there's very little room,, so parking on the side streets is very strongly suggested. I've gotten takeout from Que Viet many times over the past 15 years and the basics are always excellent. I admittedly don't always eat super adventurously when I go here, but I can tell you two things that are definitely good: Egg rolls. A must get. They are famous for them. My brother served them at his high school graduation party. They are humongous tubes of fried goodness. Hot and Spicy Chicken. Savory and just the right amount of spice that makes it addictive. A recent visit to Que Viet for take-out left a friend of mine and I with a less-than-favorable impression, to say the least. We both had two Egg Rolls and an order of Lo Mein, with mine being Shrimp LM and hers being Chicken. The Egg Rolls were indeed every bit as good as we have heard, but at $6 apiece are ridiculously over-priced. My two egg Rolls and order of Lo Mein came to a jaw-dropping $29+tip ($35 total)!!!! Our orders of Lo Mein were a different story. Both of them were light on ingredients, including the Shrimp and Chicken, and were mostly just a container full of greasy Noodles. Both of our orders had a very peculiar taste to them as well that was hard to identify. That unusual taste, whatever it was, also contributed to both of us having an potent aftertaste from the food that lingered thru to the next day. What's more, about 30 mins after eating her food, my friend developed what appeared to be a sudden-onset and classic case of food-poisoning. She was quite miserable for about 24 hours with it. Needless to say we will not be back to Que Viet and would not recommend it to anyone else either. read more

I feel like I am betraying the other pho place I love, but this place is definitely better! I can tell they use very fresh high quality ingredients. The pho was amazing!!! I recommend asking for chili oil, it does t come with it automatically but the meat in the pho tastes amazing dipped in it! I got the birthday cake macaroon, it was good but didn't taste very birthday cake-y. Would like to give it another shot and try the fruity pebbles one next time!
