I ordered general tso and I got a veggie plate. That's fine orders get messed up people make mistakes. But when I called in to speak with someone about it I was told that I was wrong. I'm a business owner and I know customer service this is ridiculous. I was asked to come in and I will be shown my order. Not once did he apologize or offer to make it right. Generally I have a decent experience. You take a while to deliver, but your food is overall OK. Today though....I didn't even get a chance to get food. I pulled up and there was a car at the speaker, and 3 cars ahead of them. It took about 4 minutes for the cars to move, and then another 4 for me to get to the speaker. I was told "We will be with you in a moment". After about 3-4 minutes, I backed up and pulled forward again to remind you I was there. You said, again; "We will be with you in a moment". Another 3 minutes later, just as my patience had run out, you ask for my order. By that time I didn't want to wait for however long it would take to get my orange chicken and egg rolls. 15 minutes. I waited 15 minutes to just get close to giving my order. You're generally slow, but seriously. I now know to not go to you if you are remotely busy. read more

Absolutely terrible worst chicken ive ever had in my life it was like it was canned and beat the death

30 minutes late! Worst experience ever. This place first has no way for the customer to track their order, so when they were 10 minutes later than the estimated window, I called them. The phone number on the site only accepts texts. I found a different number and got in contact with someone. At first he told me he didn't have my order and would get it started. 5 orders! Get them started? They were already by this point 20 minutes after the estimated window. I let him know that if they were barely going to start cooking it, then I wanted a full refund. Miraculously, my order was found and supposedly out for delivery. I asked to speak with my delivery driver. He told me another order came in late and he had to wait for it and was delivering that one first. I put my order in at 10:20, so mine should not have sat there while they made a later order. I let the delivery driver know that 5 teachers were waiting for their lunch and we only have 30 minutes to eat so at this point, we would not be able to eat the food if it didn't get here soon. He said he would get here as soon as possible. So by the time he got here and I delivered everyone's order, I had to pick up my students because our lunch time was over. I guess I'll wait until after school to eat my cold food. When I called back and asked to speak to the manager, I was told he wasn't there and they didn't know when he would come in. When I insisted to have some sort of contact info, I was told he would contact me. Yeah, right? I won't hold my breath. Fast, consistent, Americanized Chinese food. The online ordering system is on point, and the pick-up process is quick. My order has always been correct, and nothing has ever been "too _____" (greasy, spicy, bland, stale) like some other Chinese spots. My husband easily eats a full portion by himself, and I usually get a meal and a snack out of an order. I love their crispy noodles. Sure, they're supposed to be for soup, but I eat them as an appetizer. I've also gotten delivery (ordered directly from the website), and it was pretty quick! Pretty decent quality and quantity for the price and location AND they deliver. So I feel like appetizers are pretty general for most Chinese delivery. I had the edamame, eggroll, and pork dumplings. All average in flavor and price. Entree...hands down the honey chicken. Sooo good, nice light crunch, sweet savory sauce...I will order this again and try the shrimp. The curry fried rice was alright but was missing something. I needed something to lighten up the curry spice. Overall I enjoyed the meal and hope to try the Pad Thai next. read more

Warning the Drive thru menu board does not have updated prices on some items and they are significantly higher, check your amount and receipt. If gas stations can update prices, so can a restaraunt that says they're too busy to update (by their own admissions for a long while), (while business is very good) #Force Vending. I usually give kudos and great reviews but where is the integrity, there is more to the interaction and it's disappointing. The solution is to update menu board even if it's checking and taping the correct amount (you choose to charge trusting patrons that day) on the board versus pulling an increased fee out of the sky in spite and boxing cold kids meal when I point it out. #moving on #Buyers beware #enjoy your ride to the bank with integrity in your back pocket. read more

i respect the fact that they were open on a sunday and willing to deliver during terrible rainy weather from a hurricane, but was very disappointed in the quality of food. took an hr to be delivered, which was expected, but food was barely warm. lo mein was dry. ordered teriyaki chicken and instead received a mushy looking chicken with vegetables concoction. i could barely eat it, was not good at all. the best part of the $50+ order was the plastic ware the food came in. i will definitely be reusing those. read more

This place is everything I wanted it to be - affordable, tasty Americanized Chinese food. I order online and their app makes it really easy to customize your order. We always go pick it up and it's usually ready by the time we leave our house and arrive (~15 minutes). I am a fan of the mandarin broccoli with tofu. It's a pretty basic brown sauce that is awesome with some added Sriracha. The only thing I haven't liked from here - the eggrolls. They were pretty soggy and I wouldn't order again. The inside is surprisingly clean and nice. Everyone has been really friendly and their takeout containers are awesome (seriously, no worry of spilling.) Really glad I found this place. read more

I've never been to this actual restaurant, only ordered online. When I moved to South Austin from North Austin, I tried a string of bad Chinese food places and then saw that Bamboo Bistro had a south location. Service: Their mobile site is awesome, I always order from my iPad, the orders are always what I ordered, and the food always arrives within the estimated time frame (usually on the shorter end). All of the delivery people have been courteous. Favorite things to order: The lo mein (any variety though I usually do shrimp or chicken) is awesome. If you pay to add some extra veggies in it makes it even better. Their sesame chicken is heaven. I usually get it over fried rice and pay to add in broccoli. Egg drop soup = perfect. In short, it is definitely worth it to pay a couple of bucks extra per entree to get consistently good food. read more

Sooooooo the food was pretty good! Not the best Chinese food I've had (or will have) but definitely worth the price. What made this experience extra wonderful is that I ordered some vegetarian options and thought they had meat in them after taking that first bite. Panic ensued because I don't want to spend the rest of my evening on the toilet (fellow vegetarians may understand). Anyway, I called and told them (kind of low-key rudely) about the mistake. The guy was super patient and explained that, in fact, I was the wrong one. Apparently they use soy-based proteins in some of their meatless options that are similar to meat in texture so they get this comment a lot. After all of that, we chatted about all of their vegetarian options and how they use mushroom stock in place of chicken stock for their soups, etc etc. Then he asked about everything else we ordered and it was a grand ole time. It's one of the better Chinese fast food in the South Austin area. The staffs are super friendly and they always get my order correct on eat24. I don't know why it have such bad reviews but I like it....a lot. I saw a few low stars rating regarding the small lunch portion but to me it's plenty of food...I mean this is a personal portion hence the "lunch menu" duh! Food: Vietnamese Shrimp spring roll(vermicelli, boiled shrimp, lettuce with peanut dipping sauce) very light and refreshing. The peanut dressing here is fantastic and better than majority of the Vietnamese joint...I considered myself an expert because o am Vietnamese Ahi tuna salad- Seared ahi tuna with lettuce, spinach, carrot, cashew, wonton strips with your choice of dressing(I recommend getting the Asian sesame dressing) Very good quality tuna especially for fast food. Crab wonton/Rangoon- plenty of filling and each order comes with 2 pieces...I like the ability to order 2 pieces because who can really finish 6 pieces of fried cream-cheese wonton? First off, the only reason I'm giving Bamboo Bistro 4 stars instead of 5 is that someone REALLY needs to go above and beyond to get 5 stars from me. That being said, we are SO HAPPY these folks moved into the hood! We've already ordered 3 times from them (I'm on a big project right now and unable to cook like I normally do) and have been extremely pleased each and every time. We look forward to going back for more. The wings are TASTY- with just the right amount of sauce. And you can tell these weren't frozen. Nice. The Singapore Noodles (gluten free too!!!) are perfect with big chunks of meat, eggs, freshly cut vegetables, and perfectly spiced curry. I love their Singapore Noodles. And the Broccoli in Garlic Sauce with whatever- we've had it with shrimp or chicken- is excellent. Perfectly flavored- no MSG or any heavy binding agents. Just good ingredients. Double nice. There becomes a point where it's simply irresponsible for human beings to stop caring about the quality of product they put their name on. The food here is a prime example. The owner/manager should be ashamed to leave this place open for another day. The food is absolute trash. The General Tso chicken (simple dish that mall Chinese restaurants can make edible) tasted like the chef Googled the recipe, decided it was too much work, decided to go to the Dollar Store, buy frozen General Tso dinners, bring it back, add breading to it, cooked it, left it out over night, microwaved it and then sold it. Maybe the owner is simply a Gandhi level humanitarian who is offering homeless people an opportunity to learn how to cook. Let's go with that. Dear Bamboo Bistro owner, I feel you need to do better. Until I discovered Bamboo Bistro :) The delivery did take SUPER LONG... 1 hour and 15 mins... I counted every minute. When you are hungover and hangry (hungry/angry), that time seems like an eternity. The Pros: Singapore noodles are off the hook. Thai Basil is yummy. You can order online and customize everything. I'm giving this place for 4 stars based on what it is. If you understand this is a fast food Asian fusion restaurant, then it does a great job of that. First off we had a $0.99 bowl of hot and sour soup. I feel that this soup easily compared to the hot and sour soup we had a Ho Ho a few weeks ago. That's a compliment. The general tso wings we tried were my least favorite of the various food we ordered. We ate them all, but probably won't get them again. My husband got the pad thai. It was a little milder than we expected. No problem though, because my 20 month old daughter loved it (and the hot and sour soup by the way.) I think next time if we aren't sharing with the baby, we'll just ask for a little more spice. My favorite was my entree, the jalapeno chicken under the chef's specials. I don't see it on their online menu, but it was on the in-store menu. I even took a picture of it because it looked (and tasted!) so good. read more

I went to Bamboo Bistro hoping for the best, based on the glowing reviews on yelp. Either the other reviewers have very low standards or I went on an exceptionally bad night. I had placed my order online and I showed up at the time the order was supposed to be ready. Those of us who had placed online orders were told that our orders had not been given to the kitchen staff. So, we all had to wait an extra 30-45 minutes for our orders. I was given a free fountain drink and an extra sweet and sour soup for my troubles. Thus, the 2nd star on my rating is for the friendly staff, not for the food. I must say that the chicken wings I ordered were inexcusably inedible. Without exaggerating, I can safely say they were the worst thing purporting to be food I have ever been served anywhere. I could only stand to take 2 small test bites of the 5 total chicken wings and had to throw the rest away, and I do not throw away food. Their texture was very rubbery and very dry, as though they had been microwaved 5 separate times, and they tasted nothing like chicken. Instead, they tasted like what I imagine flash-fried rat meat would taste like if the cook were to leave on some of the bristly rat pelt for flavor. Absolutely disgusting. Everything else we ordered was overcooked, with the exception of the wontons in the wonton soup - those were undercooked. We did have a couple of items that were decent, but still nowhere near the quality I expected from the other reviews. Those decent items were the Cantonese crispy noodles (just the noodles, not the overcooked vegetables and chicken) and the steamed pork potstickers. Though, the potstickers were about as good as you could make at home if you bought them premade in the freezer section of Central Market. I ordered through GrubHub and everything was great. The delivery minimum was a bit high so I ended up adding a bunch of stuff, including an extra drink. When my order arrived (on time) I noticed that the second drink was missing. I told the guy not to worry about it but he said it was no problem and that he'd go fix it. Well, Troy stayed true to his word and drove all the way back to go get me my second drink and came all the way back to my apartment even though it was close to their closing time when my order first arrived and after their closing time (and I'm sure when his shift ended) by the time I got the drink. I am so impressed at the efforts to get me my complete order. So, the food: Arrived hot, except for the ice cream which was still perfectly frozen. My modifications to the teriyaki chicken were done correctly, what I wanted removed wasn't there and what I wanted added was. Super pleased about that, the actual chicken was good but not mind blowing, it tasted like they added the sauce to the chicken instead of cooking it in the sauce but w/e. The vegetables were great though, they weren't just flavorless filler it was a complete dish. My girlfriend always orders egg drop soup when we get chinese food and she was really impressed. I had some of it as well and it was great, flavorful and not oily like some restaurants. The fried pork pot stickers were great. Keep in mind that they are the deep fried version not the pan fried.
