    Crab Rangoon

Ended up trying this local Thai restaurant for the first time over the weekend, and even though we came in-person to order food to-go, the woman at the front (possibly owner?) was incredibly sweet and attentive to our questions! I ended up ordering the Pad Kee Mao and requested a medium spice, but honestly, I could go for more spice next time! The brown sauce flavor was wonderful with the tender beef pieces and I particularly enjoyed the fresh tomato slices in the dish. We also tried the Crab Rangoon appetizer, and although the rolls were filled with a generous amount of cream cheese filling, I think 2 small crispy rolls for $7+ is too expensive for my overall preferences. I think there should be about 4 crispy rolls if they are going to charge that price. That being said, definitely give this small business a try for your next Thai craving!

I was initially skeptical with this place because of the name but it lived up to the standards for an authentic Thai. Not great furniture but the decor and ambiance compensated. I love it when menus are simple and straightforward and LUV Thai cuisine had a perfect menu and made it easy for us to order. I felt a little exploratory and thus wanted to try a new dish and chose the Khao Soi because it was one of their special and my all time favorite Green Curry. Kao Soi - was a yellow curry base with egg noodles and tofu and fried onion toppings along with cilantro onions. It was such a large population but it was so tasty that I was able to finish the entire portion to the surprise of the waiter. I had to skip dinner because of the generous portion. Green curry - had a hint of peeperry spice to it with well cooked vegetables like carrots onions tofu. Loved the creamy coconut flavor!! Also got the Jasmine tea and it smelled and tasted of jasmine and was a great addition to the meal in a cute saucer. Totally recommend this place and the service was pleasant!

Great food. Quaint place. Very relaxed. Real Thai food. The spice is on fire!! I wish I lived closer

I was craving for some Thai food and decided to check out this place. I usually order the basil fried rice however this time, I did the Thai green curry that came in with the jasmine rice and tofu. The restaurant was empty and we were the only people there. Also, it was raining heavily that day and may be also the reason for no crowd. The service was good. I also got the jasmine tea. The ambience was pretty decent. Worth the try!

This is our favorite Thai spot in the area! We drive in from Bastrop area when we want good Thai food. The atmosphere is pleasant, service is good and food is fabulous. My favorite dish is their Pad Woonsen or glass noodles, which has a nice smoky flavor and the perfect balance of noodles, meat and fresh veggies. The papaya salad and spring rolls were nice starters. My husband enjoyed his Pad Thai. This is nestled in a shopping center so there is plenty of parking. Believe me, the food is worth the trip!

I've been ordering from LUV Thai via DoorDash as well as dined in recently. My go to is their chicken yellow curry. It's my favorite yellow curry in the south Austin area. Perfectly sweet and spiced. Dining in we were quickly greeted and seated. Food came out within 10-15 mins of ordering and flavorful. We asked for a little bit of spice but it was definitely a lot. I would recommend no spice at all and I'm sure it would still pack a punch on flavor. They were sweet enough to give me some extra rice to take home to eat with the rest of my curry. Will definitely come visit here more often.

Mango Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango

Came here for mango sticky rice, left with my world much brighter... the lady was very kind . Sticky rice was the best mango sticky rice I've ever had. It was warm, saucy, ripe, and the added mint was perfect. It was prepared quickly and devoured quickly. Portion was pricier-9$, but WORTH.

First time here and unfortunately I will never return. The staff was nice but the food was subpar. I ordered the shrimp papaya salad and pad ke mao noodles. Both were terrible. The shrimp papaya salad seems really off and they added too much fish sauce. The balance between salty, sweet, & sour was no were near. It was just salty and fish sauce taste. Also the shrimp was NOT devain and the poop was visible in sight. That is breaking a golden rule in the culinary arts world and is a crime. The pad ke mao (drunken noodles) noodles was so salty I couldn't even eat it and ask for the dish to be sent back. The waitress ask if I wanted to try something else so I ordered the pad Thai. The pad Thai tasty really strange and was just off. Fast forward when we got home from dinner, our stomachs were hurting from eating here. I cannot recommend this place due to the experience we had. My husband had ordered the basil fried rice and it was super salty too. The cooks must have been in a salty mood because everything was salty!

We got takeout the other day, I ordered online and it was an easy process. Pickup was fast, friendly, and easy, too. I was left a little disappointed with the food, unfortunately. Pineapple fried rice - the rice was mushy and it was super smokey, which is not something I'm used to with this dish. Spring rolls - the rice paper was sticky, and didn't like the sauce as much as the more peanut-based sauce. Pad Thai - way too sweet for my taste. Tom Kha soup - not the typical flavor I've had at other Thai restaurants, maybe less coconut? White rice - super mushy I generally love Thai food, but unfortunately the dishes I got didn't deliver.

First time at this spot and it was pretty good. Restaurant was nice and clean. It was pretty cold inside so maybe bring a light sweater. The waitress was very nice and attentive. We ordered egg rolls to start then Massaman and Panang curry which comes with white rice. Both dishes were delicious I believe because it was lunch time, we also could grab our own complimentary soup from a black cauldron looking pot which was tofu and green onion. Also very good and helped me to warm up. Highly recommend if you're in the shopping area.

After landing in San Antonio yesterday to kick off my summer vacation, the very first thing I did…read moretoday was ask my friend to bring me back to this restaurant. The reason is simple: we ate here two years ago, and it left such a great impression on us that we had been looking forward to coming back ever since. Fortunately, not much has changed in terms of either the quality or the overall presentation of the food. Everything is still delicious, especially the Pho Combo. To be honest, it's far better than most of the pho we've had in Germany. That doesn't mean the pho in Germany is bad--it simply means this place matches my personal taste much better. As for the downsides, they're almost exactly the same as before. Parking is still a major challenge, and I understand that's probably not something the restaurant can easily fix. We also tried calling ahead to reserve a table, but they don't take reservations, whether you're coming with a group of 5-7 people or just 2-3 people. We arrived at 6:45 PM and still had to wait about 40 minutes before being seated, which was honestly quite inconvenient. Coincidentally, there was live music tonight, which was a nice surprise. Unfortunately, the sound system wasn't very good, so it was difficult to hear what the singers were performing. Then again, this isn't really the type of venue where people come specifically to enjoy live music, so most diners didn't seem to pay much attention to it. One thing I did notice was that either the kitchen has made a few changes over the past two years, or perhaps my own taste has changed a little. The food felt slightly saltier than I remembered, and the pho broth was richer and creamier. While that added some depth of flavor, it was a bit too rich for my liking, to the point where finishing the entire bowl of broth felt a little overwhelming. The braised short ribs were incredibly tender--so tender that a knife was almost unnecessary, and they could easily be pulled apart with just a fork. While many people would probably see that as a positive, I actually missed the slightly firmer, meatier texture I remembered from my last visit. That said, these are relatively minor issues. The quality may have dipped just a little compared to our previous visit, but this is still an excellent restaurant. If they can fine-tune those small details, it would easily return to being one of my favorite places. There's a good chance we'll stop by one more time before heading back to Germany.

Is it that time of year for another 1618 update? Absolutely…read more After my umpteenth visit, I think it's safe to say I've worked my way through almost the entire menu (minus a few noodle, chicken & vegetarian dishes). My 2025 review still stands, but after so many visits, I've noticed a few items haven't been good as they used to, particularly the chicken wings (and yes, all three of them). The Garlic Wings haven't been hitting quite the same. They've started to taste a little dry, and the saucier wings taste better the next day since they don't have time to steep through once served. The Filet Mignon Pepper Steak is still my favorite dish on the menu, but I still can't justify ordering it family-style anymore. It's delicious, but the portion just doesn't match the price. One of the newest additions--the Truffle Fried Rice is spectacular. It's light, not overpowering with truffle, and the fish eggs really adds the perfect little pop of texture/flavor. I don't think I breathed the entire time I scarfed it down!! 1618 is still one of my favorite restaurants in Austin of all time, but I think it's time for the menu to elevate a bit and dive deeper into less mainstream Asian cuisine. If anyone can do it, 1618 can.

The restaurant itself has a lot of indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a bar. It seems like a nice place to have a meal. As for the food, we ordered: Pad thai with chicken, mild spice - unfortunately this was a bit dry for me, though the taste was good. Pad see ew with chicken - I liked their version and would probably get it again. Pad woon sen with pork - typically my favorite noodle dish and I think they did a good job. Garden roll - good but not as packed as others I've had, and at a higher price point. Pineapple fried rice with pork - I liked this but was a bit on the oily side. Tom kha soup - I thought this was very good and had a decent amount of chicken and mushrooms Overall I liked everything but some items I felt I had better versions of elsewhere. It's also on the pricier side. Still, if in central Austin I think it's a solid choice for Thai food.

There were so many new dishes that caught my eye, but I immediately gravitated toward the Creamy Crab Curry and it was absolutely the right choice. The curry was rich, creamy and packed with flavor while the fried soft-shell crab was perfectly cooked and added a great texture to the dish. Honestly, it's the kind of meal I could see myself ordering every week. My partner went with the Lost Recipe, which looked just as delicious. You can never really go wrong with fried chicken, and this version certainly didn't disappoint. The service was equally impressive. Our server was friendly, attentive and checked in regularly throughout the meal. She even brought us a complimentary crab pastry to try, which was a thoughtful touch and much appreciated. One thing to note this place gets busy, especially during lunch so plan accordingly. That said, the food and service are well worth it and the menu is reasonably priced. Kiin Di has successfully made the jump from food truck to full-service restaurant and it's definitely earned a spot on my regular rotation.
