Sesame chicken and vegetable noodles
Brooke B.

This is one of the best Chinese food trucks in Austin. Efficient and delicious. Would order this for pickup / takeout as there is not much seating there.

Wonton soup
Richard A.

I had no idea this food truck has been at this location for 3 years until last week when a friend made me aware. She raved about the Sesame Chicken but I saw the Shrimp and Chicken combo on the board and ordered that along with the Wonton soup. I am sorry to say that I was underwhelmed. The broth in the wonton soup didn't have a desirable flavor and I was expecting chunks of shrimp and chicken, not slivers, in the combo dish. I am going to give them another chance and order the Sesame Chicken like my friend suggested and also try the Hot and Sour soup.

Kung Pao chicken? Haha
Shawn S.

This is not Asian food. I ordered Kung Pao chicken. Not even close to what Kung Pao chicken is. At least cook it the same, use same ingredients. Even the fried rice was just brown rice. Horrible!

Mongolian beef...mostly onions
Kristine P.

Normally, the food is "okay." This time, it was horrible. I got a few scraggly pieces of meat and a sh*t ton of onions. I ate a few pieces prior to taking the photo, but the amount of onions is ridiculous. The saddest part is we got 3 orders of the Mongolian beef, and they all had mostly onions. Our 4th order was General Chicken, it was okay. The rice on all 4 orders was hard as f*ck. The egg rolls were okay...probably from HEB because they tasted just like theirs. Also had the crab puffs...meh! I'm pretty upset that I spent over $80 on some BS! I even had a man ask me if the food was good, it was his 1st time there, and because of my prior experience with RotH, I said, "Yes." If you happen to read this review...Sorry Bro'!! It's safe to say I will not be back!!!

Orange chicken and fried rice
Taylor G.

I had the orange chicken & fried rice and the egg roll - all were amazing! The food was ready very quickly, the staff was friendly, and the food stayed hot on my 20 minute drive home. I will definitely be back!

Orange chicken, lo mein, fried rice, egg roll.

Found this place on a whim when I was craving Chinese food near me. Located in a small food truck park off East Riverside close to 71, the menu has everything you might want. The portions are huge. Fried rice was good, orange chicken was sweet and sticky, and the lo mein was my favorite. I might go back and just get a plate of the lo mein. Staff is friendly and bilingual. There are picnic tables outside if you want to eat there. The price of the plate shown plus the egg roll was $16.50. Because of the price I will probably go elsewhere next time, but this was def a nice treat.

Hot is all this has going. Our food had a cardboard taste. Not authentic like the sign says. Not the worst Chinese we have had but far from the best.

Chicken Lo Mein with Egg Drop Soup. Both amazing.

Did not have a reservation on this occasion, but they always make me feel welcome and manage to fit us in. Sat on the outdoor covered patio that was cool and shaded. The atmosphere is modern and lively, making it a great spot for a weekend brunch. Started the meal with cocktails including Lycheetini with Deep Eddy Vodka, Giffard Lichi-li. lemon, cranberry, I cut the cranberry. Also had a Fresa Paloma with Socorro Reposado Tequila, Contratto, strawberry, lime, grapefruit, five-spice that was very sweet and garnished with a flower. You are given a card where you can mark your dim sum selections. I ordered the Shrimp Pancake, Snow Crab Ball and Chinese Sausage Sticky Rice. The standout was the shrimp pancake that had a really great texture and flavor. The snow crab ball had a strange texture with shrimp surrounding the snow crab claw. The Chinese Sticky Rice is always a favorite. Also ordered the Truffle Egg Fried rice and Birds Nest with Seasonal Vegetable. The Truffle rice is so flavorful like a flavor explosion in your mouth. The Birds Nest is made with fried potato shreds which contain the a variety of vegetables including cauliflower, peppers, mushrooms and asparagus. The nest is also edible and has a crunchy texture. The presentation of the food is amazing and everything came out hot and fresh. The flavors were on point, and you can tell there's attention to detail in the preparation. Service was attentive outdoors and the pacing of dishes felt just right for a relaxed brunch. This restaurant is truly a gem whether you come for brunch or dinner service. Will definitely be back.

The chicken basil pot stickers and pork belly were good.. but a bit dry for my taste. However, the sauces they offer were all good. Martini was a jump scare in color but taste was on pointtt! Service was fine but we were out front on the patio and though our waiter was attentive while we ordered, we ended up finishing and waiting 40 minutes for someone to come by so we could grab the check. I ended up just heading inside and the maître d' was able to close us out. Tables around us were open so I'm not sure what had them held up, and it could've been a one off, but definitely not ideal at this price point.

The serving size was definitely worth it because I had leftovers, and it somehow tasted even better reheated the next day. Always a great sign when the quality holds up after taking it home. Solid spot for pho if you're looking for a satisfying meal with big portions. Note to self: make sure to ask for the chili crisp oil on the side next time. My boyfriend and I came here because of the great reviews, but unfortunately our visit was nothing like we expected. From the moment we walked in, the experience was disappointing. The host literally pointed to our table instead of walking us to it, which immediately felt unwelcoming. No one introduced themselves or even told us who our server was, so we never knew anyone's name throughout the entire meal. Throughout our meal, no one checked on us even once, and we had to flag our waiter down multiple times whenever we needed something. Plates and drinks were also repeatedly slammed down on the table, which came across as rude and unprofessional. Every interaction felt rushed, and the staff acted like they were annoyed we were there. The customer service was awful, and it made for a really unpleasant first experience. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back.

Having grown up in a household where dumpling making and preparation were treated as a meditation…read moreon perfection, I've been incredibly pleased to see Austin seriously upping its dumpling game. While I've yet to find a Korean joint with a proper Korean mandoo on offer, Chinese varieties are thriving with the likes of Julie's Noodles, Steamies, Lin's and, the subject of my review, Dumpling World. Definitely don't expect ambiance here. After suffering the Triangle's persistent lack of parking, you'll walk into this place and find a really spare, almost utilitarian set up that screams "we mean business." They definitely mean business. I've probably been here a good 5-6 times, and have tried almost everything on the menu. Soup dumplings shine -- my daughter refuses to eat them anywhere else -- and their recently introduced thumb buns, which I think are fried mini soup dumplings, just ooze flavor. More traditional half-moon dumplings, no matter your filling of choice, steamed or fried, never disappoint. Don't ignore the non-dumpling items too. I don't know what the seasoning is in their green beans, but it's ridiculously delicious. You'll never look at green beans or haricot vert the same way ever again. Good, but unremarkable, are the soups and stews. Better to get those at other Chinese eateries. I don't mean to dissuade anyone from those, but did you really come to a place called Dumpling World to eat anything but dumplings? It gets crowded here at times so I recommend trying on a weekday evening. Uniformly, whether it's packed or slow, service is quick and courteous. With dumplings this good, it's clear that humility is one of the key ingredients to their consistency and quality.
