Ordered via Instacart because of the BOGO special. Was a tad hesitant because of the Yelp! Review but the review on Instacart was stellar. Ordered the combo fried rice and the pad Thai with port. Added in peanuts, water chestnuts and snow peas. They ask what level of spice and the mild spicy is still pretty spicy. You would think a place offering Bogo would skimp on the amount of food. Absolutely not! I can make 3 meals of not more from my pad Thai. Now my son, he can eat both of his in one sitting. lol Everything was so tasty and hot and very very fresh. Highs: My fav, the Beef & Broccoli, is tender, flavorful, and perfectly coated in sauce, and the broccoli? Somehow crunchy, yet soft. While I enjoy the Egg Drop Soup, I could do without the peas... I got two giant Pad Thais for $14.99 one day, and the next day two combo vermicellis for $13.99. Insane value for the portions. The Pad Thai had great texture - noodles perfectly sauced, chicken was not dry at all. It had that smoky "wok" flavor, though it leaned a bit too spicy and missed that sweet-tangy balance. Still, solid execution and clearly made fresh. The Combo Vermicelli was really delicious. Shrimp, chicken, and pork all cooked just right, and the noodles were magnificent. The sauce felt lighter but more in sync, and the flavors worked great together. Great portions, great prices, and honestly better quality than a lot of pricier places. Ordered 2 nights ago on Door Dash, it's unfortunate they chose to rush the order and throw in big ass chunks over-fried sesame chickens! They didn't really chop up the chickens in approximate smaller portions instead they were too large fried to eat and tooo MUSHY! Fried skin were too hard and couldn't enjoy the food! I ordered for pickup, and the service was fast and good. I requested a side of crispy noodles, and they charged me for it, but it wasn't included in my bag. I ordered pork and veggie egg rolls, and the pork was definitely better. I also tried the wonton soup, which was just okay. Unfortunately, the walnut shrimp was inedible. I placed a takeout order for Salt and Pepper Shrimp and the Creamy Coconut Curry. Called it in, and by the time I arrived 20 minutes later, it was ready and waiting--quick and efficient service. The rice was great--fluffy, well-cooked, and served in the classic white takeout carton, which is always a nice touch. Unfortunately, the food itself was a letdown. The Salt and Pepper Shrimp came heavily coated in a thick, greasy batter--possibly cornstarch-based--and the shrimp inside were tough. I ended up peeling off the coating and eating a few before tossing the rest. The Creamy Coconut Curry (with tofu, coconut, onion, carrot, potato, basil, broccoli, mushroom, and scallion) was inedible. The carrots were so overcooked they barely held together, and the broccoli had turned to mush. Worst of all, the curry sauce had an odd, off-putting flavor--nothing like the rich, balanced coconut curries I've had elsewhere. This dish also ended up down the drain. So, I was craving Chinese food one day last week and found this litter spot on S. 1st St. and William Cannon Dr. It's not your typical restaurant. You order online or at the counter. It's a cool little spot with a nice little vibe and atmosphere. I ordered the General Tso's chicken and the chicken with mixed vegetables. They have a real good deal where you get two entrees, two big cups of soup (your choice), rice and two egg rolls. Plus you get two free egg rolls with any $20 purchase. The General Tso chicken was, tender, sweet, and very good. I had the egg drop soup with was some of the best egg drop soup I've ever had. The egg rolls were full, crispy, and delicious. Even the fried rice had a very good flavor to it. I saved the chicken and vegetables for the next day and it was still good and tasty. I really enjoyed the food, the staff was pleasant and friendly and I will be returning to try the Happy Family. I give Super Bowl 5 out of 5 drinks. Cheers! read more

I have been a long term costumer 6+ yrs for this restaurant they have been great ! But they closed down for a while and recently opened back up . The lo mein noodles are way different, very sticky and thin they are not the same ): and the rice also is just mini. Like the rice isn't fluffy and yummy anymore . Also the proteins are rationalized so very little. I'm very sad I think inflation got them so they are using different ingredients. I wouldn't mind paying more for the old recipe pleaseeeee. I called the restaurant for a refund but they said they can't issue a refund because to was up to the delivery company to issue a credit. I waited a few days but the credit never appeared on my account. I called the restaurant and they said that they (the restaurant that said they can't issue refunds) had issued a credit to my account but a credit has never been issued. For some reason the outlying areas of Austin have trouble nailing Chinese food. Living in Kyle the options are few but the quality.... well my mom always said "when you don't have anything nice to say..." and you know the rest. I'm somewhat of a runner, in that I participate in events like the Austin 1/2 marathon, Statesmen 10k, etc and after the runs I like to eat a bunch of carbs, b/c I've earned it! So I'm picking off restaurants on my way back which leads to me to this review for Super Bowl. Walking in, this is NOT presently, a sit-down restaurant. Actually, the interior reminds me of the movie/game Resident Evil in that no one was there, the air was quiet, the walls looked as if they've seen better days, the lights were feint and hummed with strained electricity. In paralleling the theme I've presented both are results of post-apocalyptic catastrophes so I can't speak with confidence what Super Bowl was like pre-covid. Well enough about the façade as it's immaterial if one orders out or just picks up, so lets focus on the food, shall we? I ordered a rather large feast to sample as my legs recovered from running 11k+. I will say this, I've only found 1 restaurant that serves beef chow fun which is one of my favorites. I asked the staff here and they said they've tried to make it but couldn't get it right. While I completely respect the honestly I'm disappointed I can't find somewhere close that serves it. The shrimp egg rolls were really good! Crunchy, not soaked in grease, and flavorful. The Wonton soup is delicate and warming. The egg drop soup was pretty good but from a personal note I would have preferred a hint of ginger in the broth. Alas, it was still a good version. The hot and sour soup was very good as well. A touch of heat with vinegar really hits the spot. Mind you, I didn't order the soups alone but they came with the meals, so keep that in mind. The pork fried rice was outstanding. The rice kernels were separate, plenty of small diced veggies and loads of pork rounded out the dish. Trust me, you get enough to eat and it's good. The next dish I wanted was simple Mei-Fun. You know when you go to the buffet the clear or white rice noodles with barely anything in it? I love those. However, they have Singapore Mei-Fun which isn't exactly the same. Moreover, it has a zinging heat to it. That said, the dish was perfectly cooked and had tons of meat. The final dish was the shrimp lo-mein. I have an issue here and it's that pasta shapes create flavor. Yes the ingredients are the same; flour, water, salt, oil, and sometimes eggs for the basics, but way the noodle hits the pallet is different. Ever noticed macaroni tastes different than spaghetti? Anyways traditional Chinese lo-mein has round noodles not linguini shaped pasta. I get that having less options means easier for ordering but it's breaking tradition and something I hate. The flavors were on point as were was the quantity of food and amount of protein but it didn't do it for me. Overall, Super Bowl is a decent enough restaurant which can please the vast amount of people. However, I love traditional Chinese as a comfort food. I think anyone can relate when you crave something like grandma's chicken soup, you want it made a specific way. Super Bowl has many of the traditional options, just not exactly the way I'm accustom to eating. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad food, but just not hitting 10s across the board for me. read more

Mom treated me to lunch and called in our order of Mongolian beef, combination lo mein, and crab rangoons. Whatever I received was either their way off version of Mongolian beef or they gave me the wrong plate. It was beef with zucchini, carrots, onions, and mushrooms all sitting in a lot of thin broth-like sauce. It was tasty but looked and tasted like no other Mongolian beef I've ever had. My egg roll was nasty, it had a sour smell to it as if the cabbage had gone bad. The rangoons were delicious as was the fried rice and egg drop soup. My mom enjoyed her lo mein, egg roll, and soup. Although I'm in no rush to get back, I would give them another try if being treated or for their cheap lunch specials. read more

I really enjoy this Resturant. The food is really good. I love that they deliver. Compared to the Bamboo Garden and the China Harbor, Superbowl is better. What I don't like is that you have to pay for every piece that you order....like the crunchies for soup should be free. Today I ordered the combo rice. It was wonderful. They get it right each and every time. What can I say...I really enjoyed this meal. Here's apic. It's 2/23/2018 and I didn't win pch. Sometimes the food is good but sometimes the meat is chewy. The shrimp have hone from medium size to tiny. The sauces can be good but sometimes too watery. The wait to get your order is good. If you order on beyond menu there is a $.99 fee. The food is always hot. The egg rolls crispy and hot too. The soups ate good too. My only real complaint is consistency. Sometimes you get some vegetables and many times I get couple mushrooms and snow peas. Prices have gone up couple Dollars for entrees. read more

Had a friend coming over so I was trying to figure out something quick and yummy for us to have for dinner. Right before falling asleep during my nap (yes, I nap before having to be social because it takes a lot out of me...don't judge) the thought and taste hit me of what I wanted...Chinese. When I got up I looked for places near me. Decided to go with ol' faithful. This time I ordered online. I have to say, their website is really nice and easy to use. When you choose an item there's even a space to add special instructions for your dish. I ordered combination lo-mein and veggie egg rolls. I added the special instruction to make the lo-mein spicy. I decided to pick up so that I could get it faster than the 1 hour that it takes if it's delivered. Besides the place isn't even 10 minutes from my house. When I arrived, there was a sign requiring a mask to enter the establishment. Upon entering there was a woman siting at a table rolling egg rolls. Found it really cool these are hand made. But I noticed she had her mask hanging from one ear with her mouth exposed. Even there was no one else there, I thought she would have her mask on while preparing the food. To her credit, she did put it on to give me my order. It was ready and waiting so I just picked it up and left. I wasn't even in the restaurant 30 seconds. Getting the food home, I figured I could nibble a little before my friend arrived. The food was delish as always but I was disappointed to find that my le-mein wasn't spicy at all. This seems to be an issue with this place as this wasn't the first time this has happened. But it was still very good. I also ordered some veggie eggrolls and when I peeked inside the bag there was an extra one there! Cool score because I REALLY enjoy their eggrolls. The outside is so light and crispy and the filling isn't mushy like some eggrolls can be. They're amazing. So, although there seems to be an issue getting modifications to your dishes (or at least spice) this remains to be a favorite and staple for me when I need my Chinese food fix. read more

Just tried Super Bowl on William Cannon..and I must say, I'm surprised. This chicken is really good! Crispy on the outside and tender white meat chicken inside. The rice is fine, not much to it besides some egg added to it. The sweet/sour sauce taste a bit weird and they didn't give me a lot- it's a light sauce (which I prefer) but it has no taste. Overall I'm satisfied. I'll try them again- a different dish of course. Items included with this meal was a pretty small egg roll and soup of choice (I chose wonton soup). read more

I have been coming here for at least 20 years. It's a hole in the wall but when I'm in the area and want to pick up something simple, comfort Chinese American food that is not expensive... This is where I stop. They're fast, the food is made right there when you order and they're super friendly. For most dishes you can get a meal that comes with egg roll, soup and a main dish for under $10.00. Nothing at all fancy but just good comfort Chinese food. This place is mostly a pick up or delivering place... actually when I go in and see people eating there I'm always a little surprise. All dishes comes with egg roll and choice of soup and side of rice unless it's a noodle dish. There is just something so simple about the won ton soup that just reminds me you don't always need a lot of frills to enjoy it.
