My husband and I went to this location on Sunday to get sandwiches to go. While we were waiting for our food the owner was conducting a job interview. At the end of the interview he told the girl, "bring your mask tomorrow because public health requires the mask." Upon him saying this, I looked at husband and said "well that's interesting because two of his employees are not wearing masks and are working." One of the employees a male, was wearing a hat. He kept taking off his hat and rubbing his fingers thru his hair and then would touch things around the store. Mind you the owner himself was not wearing a mask while conducting his interview. And they were no where near 6 feet a part from each other. All in all I was not impressed by the cleanliness of this location given the current times we are in. They could do better, their employees should all be wearing masks and wear them properly, and the one employee needs to stop running his hand thru his hair and touch food and surfaces. read more

WARNING: Worst service ever! They are very unorganized. Everyone will wait 10-15 mins for a bagel & still the service was confused on which bagel belongs to whom. I had 2 orders and the waitress gave away one order to another customer. Ended up waiting 45 mins before the meal came out. The cook even came out & tried to argue which order we made versus blaming staff that our order was given away to someone else. So many people were complaining on the wait time. Went there for breakfast and ordered egg bagel and Fresh OJ. All i got was a tasteless egg made from industrial bagged liquid egg solution. Horrible taste and appearance. Talked to the manager but he said I should tell this to the owner. I tossed in the garbage cuz that is where it belongs. So here I am trying to inform the owner... For $9.99 i do expect a fresh egg sandwich!!! ! Is it beyond the capability of this place? I dropped by Bagel Me! recently before grabbing coffee with a friend. I ordered the Nutty Monkey (a cinnamon raisin bagel with crunchy peanut butter and topped with bananas and cinnamon sugar) which came out to around $6 and my friend ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese which came out to around $4. (Note there is a $1 off coupon with a Yelp! check in, so definitely do that!) The bagels were pretty standard and I enjoyed mine (although I did wish the bananas were sliced a little smaller as it was a little hard to eat because of the large size). Overall, a good bagel but nothing super special and it seemed a bit overpriced for what we got. A few things: it was pretty packed inside when we went, but there was no line or anything. It was also incredibly hot and small inside, so we opted to eat at the tables outside of the shop. It's incredible to me how a place like Bagel Me has earned a corner spot in the historic Orange Circle. When you spend $12.95 on a egg, cheese, and bacon bagel you can only hope to receive some of the best food you have ever tasted...but that is not the case. Dry Bagel, over cooked bacon, fake tasting eggs, and a store moral that only pushes away passing customers. I truly believe the best thing on their menu is the small side of baked apples. I am shocked that they have held their ground in such a prime location when the city of orange could implement a beautiful, and original bakery to feed the diverse crowd of Orange, CA. The girl told us it was fresh squeezed OJ, Vitamin C and vanilla protein.. it tasted suuuuppperrr sugary like the OJ was from Tropicana and not fresh squeezed or something. If you're in the mood for just a good bagel with some cream cheese, this is the place for JUST that. Just that and nothing else. It is safe to say that this place is overpriced and the "extra" stuff to upsell the bagels just aren't worth the pretty penny you spend here. I came by around 9 in the morning and their bagel display was mostly gone, even my fave jalapeño cheese was gone, which is always a good sign for a bagel place. I ended up getting a lox bagel and an iced chai for $23 dollars...yes, you heard me correctly. $23 for a bagel, plain cream cheese, and a few thin slabs of lox (like 2-3 pieces per bagel) and a watered down chai, not including tip. Again, the bagel satisfied that Friday morning craving and it hits the spot. But the upsell is not worth it. I see myself coming back, and would recommend people check it out, but just stick to the bagels with cream cheese and a hot coffee. Nothing else on the menu is worth it. I even got an order of the bagel chips with my bagel and they snapped so easily when dipping into the cream cheese that they sell, which was pretty disappointing. I had way too many drinks the night before so I was on the search for quick & easy carbs to soak up the alcohol. A bagel came to mind & this shop was less than a mile from the hotel. I thought I kept it simple: Toasted jalapeño cheese bagel with veggie cream cheese & cucumbers. Somehow after 30 minutes of waiting, I was told that they were out of veggie cream cheese. I was in the area for my Son's baseball game at Hart Park, so I relied on Yelp to find a coffee shop. Of course Starbucks locations were plentiful but this little gem caught my attention. The area is so cute and there are so many great shops surrounding Bagel Me. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the owner, I told him I wasn't from the area and he made sure to give me his recommendations. I ended up getting a bagel with egg and avocado and an iced coffee. The iced coffe was good, the bagel is huge but tasty. I got an egg bagel ( I know I am boring) but it was the perfect vehicle for the yummy toppings. Prices are average. Honestly the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I ordered a bagel (cheese jalapeno, heavy toasted) through Door Dash. The order was dropped off and the bagel was very burnt. I have ordered "heavy toasted" in the past and I have never had this problem. I called the store to let them know and they asked "So, what do you want to do, come back for another one?" (starting with bad customer service right off the bat) so I said "I guess so" and drove down to the store. I was greeted by the manager, Yolanda, where she offered me no apology of any kind, and informed me that they do not usually replace burnt bagels. Yolanda said that she "made the bagel herself," and that "it is not burnt." I told her I disagreed, and she again insisted that it was not burnt. I have never received such horrible customer service. Generally speaking, especially in the food service industry, the customer is always right. If she had apologized for the inconvenience of having to drive down to get another bagel, and offered to make a new one, I would not be writing this review. I have been a patron of Bagel Me for over 15 years, but I will never be returning to this location. If you value good customer service, I advise you do the same. read more

Bagel Me is hit or miss depending on location. The one at Orange Plaza is always a miss, and I don't know why I keep coming here. This particular morning, I made it in by 8:20am on my way to work. They had hardly any bagels left in the counter. They had nonfat milk in the half & half carafe (just label it correctly!), regular coffee was out, decaf coffee was out (I'm pregnant). Did anyone say coffee would be a wait or was out when I ordered? Nope. Did they say there is no half & half? Nope. Just disguised it. Or didn't pay enough attention to the stock and needs of the customers. I ordered a bagel with avocado on it. It was okay. They cut the avocado into 6 pieces or so and placed on top of the bagel. Don't order this if you are trying to eat on the go like I was. I would have preferred the avocado spread onto the bagel, but didn't pay attention before I walked out the door. I ended up with avocado on my pants and my car seat because it was impossible to keep the chunks of avo on the stinkin' bagel. Overall a disappointment. I'll skip this location next time. read more

This spot needs a lot of work. When I walked in the first thing I noticed was that practically all the bagel bins were empty. I thought maybe they would refill them in a couple minutes but the entire 30 minutes I was there the selection only dwindled. I tried asking an employee if they had any more and she ignored me. While we were waiting in line there were multiple people that came in who had placed online/to go orders and the workers didn't seem to know that or had gotten the order wrong for people and had to redo it. The workers kept asking each other questions and would give a customer an answer that would contradict what the last employee said. This definitely was a red flag. We got two bagels and a plain cream cheese and the cashier told us one total. I asked if there was a way to get our bagels toasted because up until this point she hadn't asked or made it clear if it was an option. She said yes and took back our bagels and then told me a new total. The new total she told me is not how much the screen said was owed so I asked if the amount on the screen is what she meant and she said yes. I was surprised by what I'm assuming was an additional charge to toast my bagels but it was a price I would gladly pay if it meant I could get out of this place faster. The sad part is the bagels were great! But I will never return to that madhouse. read more

I used to go to the bagel me in Placentia about 10 years ago and always enjoyed it. Having lived back to Orange recently my wife was craving it so we have been here twice. Still tastes the same which is pretty good. We have ordered both times over the phone and there hasn't been any problems. As for the food it has just been okay. We have gotten bagel melts both times and they are pretty good. I think I wasn't that hungry so I didn't really eat mine. The egg looks like a prepackaged egg that's pre made and then heated up. Besides that I really don't have anything bad to say. The prices are a little steep but doable. Always a good bagel place to try out. read more

TLDR; passable bagels, understaffed and often slow because of it, good potential. I really struggle with giving such a low score, but I do think it's accurate. I live close and come here relatively frequently since it is the only bagel place close to my house, but an Einstein or Breuggers really blows this place out of the water, which is sad to me because I always try to support local businesses. They're understaffed for sure, and are doing too much on the menu. They do bagels, burgers, salads, shakes, soups, sandwiches, iced coffees, blended coffees - it's just too much. I've personally witnessed the cashier have to stop everything to make a blended drink and it brings everything to a halt. Almost $8 for a bagel with cream cheese!? Are we at a resort? Nope just Orange County CA

I like to think I know what a good bagel is having lived in NY and experiencing some of the best bagels in the U.S... could I be a bagel snob? Well, I was craving a bagel for breakfast so I stopped at this place for the first time since I happened to be in the area. First of all, parking is tough in Old Downtown Orange. Be prepared to drive around the circle a couple of times, hope for a space to open up or walk a little bit of a distance in some of their public parking lots to get to where you want to go. This shop was dark and a little dingy. It was my first time in it so I wasn't sure what to order. Apparently the bins are able to open from the front so you can "pick your own" bagels. They have a bunch of varieties, it oddly a lot of varieties of cheese bagels or everything bagels. The bagels are good sized but have no flavor. They were really dry (did not seem like they were fresh). They also didn't have that famous balance of crispy on the outside and chewiness inside. They were more like bread-like in texture and just bleh. Not only that, but they were also overpriced in my opinion. Each bagel will run you $2.39+ each or about $24/dozen. I was sadly disappointed and certainly did not get my bagel fix. I also want to note that I had initially bought about a dozen so that I could bring some home. Within a day or so, the bagels already had mold and spoiled... so I just had to throw them out. read more

I am going to say this as polite as I can. This is the worst company ever. Not only are they always out of Bagels before 8 am but the customer service is atrocious. I have commented and rated BagelMe! on Yelp before and they must not read the reviews. Not only have I left a bad review, which i will leave another one because of my experience today, but the other reviews on there. My gosh!! If I was managing the store off Chapman and Glassell, I would make sure my bagel bins were full and my customers were satifisfied. And, if they are not or were not satisfied I would sure as hell make sure I compensate them for the lack of product. Today marked the fourth day I have come into this store between 7:30-8 am and almost all the bins are empty nor are there any being made. This store is opened until 3pm and they are already out of bagels before 8am, what are they serving until they close...unheard of. Their competitors are pumping out bagels and making sure everything is in stock up until closing. And then the customer service...the worst ever!! No one seems to know anything. I called for the corporate number, and I was hung up on. Then I call again, no one knows what a corporate number is and to call back later. Then I call another store, she had no clue what a corporate number was and to call back later. What the heck??!! If you want to stay in business take some pride in your company, your product and your customers. I have now changed my rating from 2 to 1 due to my experience today.
