There was nothing stellar about 5 Star Bagelry. We went one Sunday morning around 10 AM and they were sold out of so many bagels. I had the egg and cheese on wheat (since they were out of plain and everything seasoning). Unfortunately, it didn't hit for me. It lacked flavor and the eggs tasted like the continental breakfast eggs you get at a hotel. I appreciated the hot sauces they had on the side. A change like that would signal the beginning of a cleaner, healthier, & more prosperous USA. Every time I order a bagel with lox here the salmon is refreshing, the cream cheese is rich, & each caper is savory. The staff always prepares my order promptly. Despite the level of foot traffic, & how busy 5 Star can get, I've only ever waited about 10-15 minutes max for an order. The only rating that is acceptable for this business is 5 Stars. A very solid choice for bagels in OC! The shop is located in a fairly open plaza with plenty of parking, and the shop is quite large with plenty of seating (compared to most bagel shops in the area). Everyone at the shop was super friendly, and were quick to serve us. We came a bit later in the day so many of the bagels were sold out, which was very promising to see. We ordered the Heavenly Veggie on a Jalapeño Cheese bagel with Chive cream cheese, a strawberry and cheese croissant, and a jalapeño ham and cheese croissant. The bagel was SO soft, probably damn near perfect in consistency. Everything tasted fresh, though I would've liked a bit more seasoning. Both croissants were really good too. I also got a Vietnamese iced coffee which was good. Overall I'd give this a 4.5/5, if you're looking for a solid no-frills bagel, then look no further. The honey walnut raisin cream cheese spread was delightful on top! That spread is seriously delicious. 10/10 Next time I want to try the rainbow bagel. It just looks fun. Excellent service and great bagels--however, if you're someone who needs to use the restroom before, during, or after your meal, you may want to think twice about coming here. The restroom door has never had a functioning lock--there's only a security chain. So if someone tries to come in, the door won't swing all the way open--but it opens far enough that the person outside can see whoever is inside. What makes this even more frustrating is that there is a lock on the door--it just doesn't work. I genuinely don't understand why management hasn't fixed it. It seems like it would be an inexpensive, quick repair--I bet I could fix it myself in 20 minutes. How has this gone unaddressed for so long? Almost every single time I've been here, I've either had someone walk in on me or accidentally walked in on someone else. It's gotten to the point where I have someone stand outside the restroom door to keep people from opening it while I'm inside--I even use the trash can to blockade the door, just in case. That's ridiculous for a restaurant restroom. Great bagels and employees! But, the restroom situation is unacceptable. I've heard others complaining about it as well. I came here around 5:30 in the morning and got the five star lox bagel on a spinach Parmesan bagel and the everything juice. The bagel was HUGE but surprisingly not heavy at all. You can definitely tell these are fresh bagels and perfectly toasted as well. The ratios of toppings on the bagel was perfect and they give you a pickle spear on the side in case you don't like pickles. I would definitely come back here just for this bagel!! The juice...not that great but it's not a juice place so I wasn't expecting much and not subtracting a star for it. It tasted like veggies even though there were supposed to be a good amount of fruit in there. I'm sure their smoothies are a lot better so I'll try those next time for sure. I wanted to try this place because it had 4.5 stars. I do have to say I am disappointed. First thing is they only have ham meat options for breakfast bagels. What about people that don't eat pork? I asked if I could substitute the ham for Turkey meat because I don't eat pork. They said yes, but it will cost extra. Me thinking ok maybe an extra dollar nope they wanted me to pay an extra $4 and come change. So for a bagel with egg and turkey she said it would cost me almost $12. That made absolutely no sense when a bagel with ham and cheese is only $7. I just got the two egg bagel because I realized I had some lunch meat at the house that I can put on my bagel. And a smoothie. As far as the taste of the food it was mid. They literally just heated up a premade egg in the microwave and put it on a bagel. Not a real fresh egg which was very disappointing.the egg had absolutely no flavor. Tastes like nothing. So I paid $6 for a fake tasteless egg. And as you can see in the picture that was definitely not " two eggs" the egg was thin and tasteless. As for the smoothie it was very artificial. No fresh ingredients overly sweet. It wasn't really a smoothie like with fresh fruit it was more like a fruit drink. The staff were very nice and the shop was very clean. The smoothie is what gave this place the two stars even though it wasn't that good, but Unfortunately I won't be coming back. read more

I found this place on accident when I was trying to find a quick coffee and breakfast before work. I love a good bagel sandwich, and the fact that they also have Vietnamese coffee is a bonus! Inside is very clean, the workers are quick and efficient, there is sitting spaces if you want trying to stay and eat, and I haven't had to wait long to get my order.
