Came here after breakfast for a toasted rainbow bagel with lox spread cream cheese. The rainbow is just for looks - imagine a colorful plain bagel. As for the lox spread, maybe there wasn't much lox? It didn't fulfill the fishy taste I wanted but I appreciated the amount of spread on the bagel. I love me some cream cheese! As for the texture of the bagel, it was nothing I crave for again. My east coast friends always hype up NYC bagels, so I had to try them for myself, and they did not disappoint. They were perfectly chewy and flavorful. Bagel Boy has been a staple of Bay Ridge since I and many others can remember. Although service is a bit on the gruff side, that's to be expected in Brooklyn to keep the lines here moving. That being said they are efficient and crank out sandwiches and breakfast others with ruthless efficiency at an acceptable price point. I've had bagels with lox, scallion cream cheese, and their version of the rainbow bagel with birthday cake cream cheese. All are great. Definitely make this one of your breakfast spots before heading to work or for a quick lunch bite if you can't decide where else to go. Also notable IS that they're open late into the day compared to other bagel/breakfast only shops in the area which is a relief. I'm a firm believer that food can be great without ever setting foot in the store in which is it created. In the days of delivery and co-workers that live and breathe Brooklyn, I am privy to delicious breakfast items on the regular, most of which come from BB. Bagels ahoy - I always thought the best came from Manhattan or NJ, but I am, once again, severely mistaken. Throw down any kind of bagel (we usually get CR, Plain, and/or EV) and pair it with some of that not quite whipped but not quite 100% solid cream cheese and you are in for a mega treat. Even after sitting in the office for an entire day, eating one of these ( which I'm pretty sure is illegal in NY and NJ, as legal bagel shelf life is 4 to 6 hours) is still just as good as eating it when it walks in. Soft, tasty, just the right amount of bagel...I think I want one right now. If you go to the store I'm pretty sure you'll have to wait in line. Bagel boy, what can I say I have a love and hate relationship with you. There was a time when I came here everyday that the guys know what I wanted before I even said it. However, I am very particular with my bagel . I always make an emphasis to say well toasted because when it's not, it's too chewy and hard for my enjoyment. My God do i love Bagel Boy, i hate bringing God into my review but this place is just absolute heaven. Jalapeño cream cheese on a hot fresh bagel is perfection, all their bagels are top quality and two steps above the rest with a million types of cream cheese options from blueberry to bacon cheese to soy....my mouth is watering now! They have a ton of other products like sandwiches, wraps and such and are open 24 hours, making fresh bagels around the clock. Their catering is also amazing - We recently had a tragedy in the family and had catering from Bagel Boy, they provided the pefect platter with gigantic soft chewy bagels from cinnamon raisin to sesame to pumpernickel. Giant slabs of cream cheese on a separate platter with lox spread, veggie, chive and others with butter and a nice tub of jelly in the middle. I always ask them to toast the wrap on the panini grill. I am their master, I tell them what I want and they do it! So I totally love going to this place. I visited NY last year and this year for spring break and stayed in Bay Ridge at a friend's apartment. Bagel Boy was only 2 blocks away and during our trips my boyfriend and I got breakfast here probably five times and every time we were really satisfied! The Everything bagels are delicious with the perfect amount of seasoning. I get the veggie cream cheese which is crunchy and full of veggies. This year I tried the scallion cream cheese and lox. A bagel with cream cheese is only $1.75. The menu says you can also get flavored cream cheese (scallion, veggie, walnut, strawberry or lox, etc.) on your bagel for $3... So if you get what I got (scallion cream cheese for $3 and lox for an additional $3) your bagel ends up being $6+ Bagel boy also offers a TON of other items, like salads, knish, meat trays, pasta, fruit, sandwiches, wraps, baked goods (cookies, donuts, lava cakes, etc.). This is a great place for breakfast or lunch. They also cater and you can order online. At the Bay Ridge location there is no seating and every time I've been there (anywhere from 8am to 11am) they've been pretty busy. They're very efficient however and get your order taken care of quickly. I do believe you can have your bagels toasted at this location. read more
