Party of 12, since we got there early, we agreed. The side room had the biggest round table for us. They ask you what kind of tea you want, we like chrysanthemum tea. You order the items on the paper menu and it comes to your table. So we got going on the orders and TBH, we must be hungry, because we did a lot of orders (we had plenty of left overs). Tried some favorites and a few new items that we thought were unique to their restaurant. My dad has to order crispy noodle and chow fun, and we also ordered chicken fried rice. The service was prompt and attentive, with enough servers to take care of the side room. Since it was the "sun room", the sun was shining through the windows and it was bright. Review from my parents: it was just meh, they prefer the other place near our house. I think the food is good, but probably won't come back again with a big group of us, since they don't have many big round tables. And personally, I prefer the whole experience of the ladies coming around with their carts. Perhaps their dinner menu is also worth trying. Bonus for us is that we can literally walk to this restaurant. Parking could be an issue if you come later.

Sometimes dishes come out cold, like they've been sitting out for a while instead of being served fresh and hot. That said, there are a few items we always order that are consistently good when brought out fresh like salted crispy pork chops, siu mai, shrimp rolls, and fried calamari. Be prepared for a wait on weekends since it gets crowded. If you're coming with a large group, it's best to arrive before noon. The restaurant is located next to a hotel, and finding the restroom can be confusing since it's inside the hotel. Service is also pretty minimal--they seem understaffed, and I almost always have to flag someone down just to get basics like soy sauce, chili, and water. I don't understand why they don't just have the sauce on the table for guest to dip, but I get that they're saving $ on controlling the cost down. On my most recent visit, the experience really went downhill. Our table had food but no soy sauce, chilli nor water, and when I flagged a waiter multiple times, he got visibly annoyed and irritated. It was frustrating--we shouldn't have to chase someone down repeatedly for basic condiments. Being met with attitude for that honestly left a bad impression. That experience alone makes me reconsider coming back. Good food at a good price is one thing, but poor service--especially to that extent--can really ruin the overall experience.

We arrived around 1 PM on a Sunday and were told it would be a 20-25 minute wait. That was fine. But when we were seated we noticed the carts did not have much food. So we ordered 4 dim sum items off the menu. No one told us how long it would take to get these items. We ordered traditional dim sum items and at most dim sum places it would just take a few minutes. But after 20 minutes, nothing had arrived. We asked one of the workers and he angrily told us it takes a long time to prepare them. After 5 minutes one item showed up. But after waiting 20 minutes we decided to leave. As we were paying the bill, another item showed up so we just took it home. What bothered me most was no one apologized for the long wait, offered to somehow compensate, etc. They just acted like another day at Saigon Seafood Harbor.

The table that we were seated at has 7 seats -- I looked at the other tables that were empty and they also had 7 seats -- meaning that at any point when a table for 6 or 7 was available, we, party of 6, could have been seated but she chose not to seat us and have us wait. Once we were seated, everything moved rather quickly. We were given a menu to order -- we ordered and within 10-15 minutes, everything was brought out to us. No wait time for the food, it was very fast. The food was decent but nothing memorable. Overpriced dim sum, overpriced food. It inevitably left a bad taste. Regarding the legality of mandatory gratuity, they did disclose 18% service charge on menu. They also taxed on gratuity. They probably have a good lawyer telling them how to make mandatory gratuity legal. That is to use phrase "service charge" and print it on menu, which I didn't notice until much later. (From the picture I took.) A small group like us (party of three) should not be subject to mandatory gratuity. No one likes to be forced to tip. Tipping should be at free will. The decor and ambiance is nice - very spacious and elegant. You can join the waitlist from Yelp - always a plus. Highlights: the har gow were plump with large pieces of shrimp and minimal filler. The dumpling skin was on the thicker side (I don't mind it but my wife likes thinner skins.) Maybe that was needed because of how big these were - really packed with shrimp. The mango pudding was delicious and reminded us of childhood, and the shrimp noodle roll was great. Lowlight: I was less happy with the xiaolongbao - there are so many good options for these in the South Bay that this meager interpretation was frankly bordering on blasphemy. I would not order those again. The steamed char siu bao were far better but still could've used more pork in the filling and were slightly soggy and over steamed. We also had the beef chow fun which was excellent with smoky wok hei flavor. Overall a good place for dim sum but avoid the xiaolongbao.
