There's been a bit of a craze surrounding this new dessert shop since they opened about two months ago. I was hesitant to go early on because I heard the lines were extreme, but luckily the situation calmed down by the time I stopped by (on a weekday around 10 am). I purchased a brown sugar cookie, cornbread cookie, toffee chocolate chip cookie, classic cinnamon roll, matcha cinnamon roll, and a cinnamon roll latte. The total for the three cookies, two cinnamon rolls, and latte came out to about $35 - not bad at all! The cookies were thin, crispy on the outside, and chewy on the inside. My favorite was the toffee cookie, which was rich and buttery. The cinnamon rolls were soft and pillowy, with an ooey gooey center - utter perfection. The cinnamon latte, on the other hand, was a hard pass. I've been waiting to cross this place off my list and finally got the chance! I was in town for the holidays and saw that Badash was open on Christmas Eve so I made it a mission to get there a little before opening, in hopes for a short line. I arrived around 7:50am and was third in line. They opened at 8am. As we filtered inside, the line was out the door. It was quite confusing as the pastry case is to the right, near the entrance and the register is in the back left corner. So you would think that you'd go through the case to pick out what you want and then pay, but they had us in a line, going diagonally across the entire bakery, to pay first, then wait for the order to be packed. The bakery itself is small, with a big couch against the wall on the left side and a couple bar seats at one of the windows. If they want us to pay first, I suggest getting rid of that couch, place stanchions along the left wall to indicate line formation, and create some flow and waiting space for people to wait for their orders. If the two ladies in front of me didn't know what they were doing, I think we all would've been a bit lost. Because it was my first time and I was feeding 8 adults back at home, I ordered an array of goodies, totaling $170 (ouch). I was hyped for their matcha cinnamon rolls, cookies and banana pudding. I also ordered a couple of their tiramisu loaf slices, banana bread loaf slices and matcha blondies. I saw that they had white chocolate macadamia cookies (MY FABE) so I ordered half a dozen of those and then a mixed dozen of others. To be honest, I wasn't as impressed as I thought I'd be. The matcha cinnamon roll wasn't as fluffy and didn't really taste like matcha. It was also $7 for the size... pretty steep tbh. My favorite was the banana pudding, portion was perfect for the price. The cookies... I was especially excited for these because you don't find white chocolate macadamia often, however, these were the biggest disappointment. Although there seems to be whole macadamia nuts in the cookies, I could barely taste/feel the flavor and texture of the white chocolate chips. The red velvet cookies were bland. The toffee chocolate ones were probably my favorite, due to the fact that there were tiny toffee bits throughout the cookie. $4 per cookie is a lot for the thinness and lack of flavor. They also stacked six cookies on top of each other in the box which needed extra delicate handling because they were so thin. The loaf slices were just ok too. Overall, overhyped and a little overpriced. The staff and service were decent. The lady at the register was patient and warm. Everyone else seemed tired and bleak. No smiles or excitement when handing me my two large bags. I was also excited to see the owner there, however she seemed out of it, maybe tired and stressed? Understandable. For next time, I'd like to try a cake slice and a drink/coffee, but not dying to return. read more

I give this bakery 3.5 stars! The pros: Cozy and cute bakery shop. Decent service and the wait hasn't been too long (I've arrived at 9:30a and 2p different days) the cookies are really good. They're a good size, good flavor, semi-thin and really soft. The cons: my cinnamon latte didn't taste like anything but espresso and milk. The cup was half foam and maybe 10 oz of liquid and pricey. You can't scroll TikTok for more than five swipes without seeing Basash Bakes, so of course I had to try it. I waited until the hype died down a bit since the bakery is far from Long Beach and the lines can be hours long. Parking was easy for me because I went on a Thursday morning when I was free, which turned out to be the best decision. I parked right out front and walked straight in. It did get a little busier after I arrived, so I think the sweet spot on weekdays is around 10:30 a.m. Before diving into the flavors, I have to point out the most impressive part: every single cookie had the same perfect texture. Each one was flat yet substantial, with a thin, crispy edge that gave way to a soft, pillowy center. They weren't cakey or overly chewy just the right balance between tender and structured, so they held together without crumbling apart. That level of consistency is rare in a bakery doing this many flavors. Brown Sugar: Buttery, deep, and rich with a mellow molasses note that rounded out the sweetness. The crisp edges had a caramelized bite, while the center stayed soft and almost melt-in-your-mouth. I could eat this every day. If the bakery were closer, I'd already be back for more. Chocolate Chip: A classic done right. The base was rich and buttery, the chocolate perfectly balanced without overwhelming the dough. You get that nostalgic, straight-from-the-oven feel, with just enough salt to keep it from being cloying. Matcha: Smooth and earthy without tipping into the grassy bitterness matcha sometimes has. The sweetness balanced the matcha flavor well, and the texture stayed true to the rest of the lineup--crisp on the outside, soft and dense in the middle. Red Velvet: The color was striking, but the flavor leaned neutral. Without cream cheese frosting to cut through and add tang, it lacked a distinct personality. Texture was still spot on, though. Toffee Chocolate Chip: Rich and buttery like the classic chocolate chip but with a subtle caramel note from the toffee. The pieces were well incorporated, melting slightly into the dough so there were no overly hard bits just a smooth, toffee-infused chew. S'mores: Essentially a chocolate chip cookie with a gooey marshmallow pocket. Good as is, but I think it could be taken to the next level with graham cracker crumbs in the dough or as a base layer for a more distinct s'mores flavor profile. Cinnamon Roll:I was excited for this one, and the aroma was amazing warm spice with a hint of yeastiness. The center had a nice cinnamon swirl, but the filling was slightly grainy, which took away from the soft, velvety bite I was hoping for. The icing, if it was cream cheese-based, was too mild to really shine. Overall, Basash Bakes nails their textures, and that alone makes them worth the trip. My top favorite cookie was the toffee one followed by the chocolate chip. The staff is super sweet and you can tell they like what they are doing. You feel the love when you walk in the door. I love their cookies here!! I've tried the chocolate chip cookie before and today the brown sugar cookie. The chocolate chip is the best in my opinion, but the brown sugar isn't too bad at all either. I like because it's not too much grease/oil in their cookies. The cinnamon roll here is to die for!! So moist and soft and very cinnamon-y. And the icing is so yummy and not too sweet. I also tried the banana bread and that was also so moist and very fresh tasting- I think it came straight out of the oven because it was still warm. For a drink, I got an iced matcha latte with agave and I think they put a bit too much because it was too sweet. But the matcha was very strong and I was pretty impressed. Saw this place on TikTok and needed to try the Matcha cinnamon roll. We came on a Saturday around 12 PM and waited about 15 minutes outside and then another five or so minutes after ordering. I don't typically order cinnamon rolls but I liked the Macha cinnamon roll a lot more than I thought I would. It was a lot better when I heated it up at home. I also got the double Matcha latte which was also a lot better than I expected. The cinnamon roll latte was quite sweet, but what do you expect? There are a few couches to sit down, however it's quite crowded. Wouldn't recommend this as a place to sip your coffee and chill, however, there are tables outside. Overall, the employees are friendly and welcoming. I'd wait again for less than 30 minutes, but I don't think it's worth an hour wait. I would come back to try their brownies and other pastries. Found this place on tiktok, it's smaller in person than I expected with not a ton of seating. The seating that is available is very low to the ground so it's not exactly practical for eating or staying long at all. I came wanting to try the matcha cinnamon roll only to be disappointed because it had not been warmed and was cold. The strawberry banana matcha was surprisingly very good as they make their own strawberry milk with real strawberries. Everything was good but I was a bit disappointed compared to how it was portrayed online. If someone I knew wanted to come here again I would try a couple more things but not sure that I would seek it out again on my own. read more

Today was global running day and I was headed to Alo in Pasadena. I walked past Badash Bakes and saw a long line out the door at 8am. Upon finishing the activities I walked back and saw the line had died down so I decided to stop by as this has been on my bookmarks. They had their full menu at 10am so I was able to try everything I wanted to. I ordered: matcha cinnamon roll, carrot loaf, chocolate chip cookie, double matcha and strawberry matcha. Matcha cinnamon roll was $6.50, carrot loaf $4.50, cookie $3.70, double matcha $9 and strawberry matcha $8.50. The price for the baked goods were reasonable but the matchas were about $1-$2 more expensive than other places. Crazy to say these prices are affordable but inflation... Overall I thought all the items were good, just on the pricier side. The star of the show was the matcha cinnamon roll. It wasn't too sweet, fluffy and heavy on the matcha flavor. The carrot loaf was moist and had crunchy walnuts inside. Chocolate chip cookie was standard but good if you like crispy cookies. I thought my strawberry matcha was okay. Nothing too special about it. The double matcha had strong matcha flavor and wasn't too sweet. The matcha cream top was on the thicker side. Came here on Friday after Thanksgiving and the line was finally not wrapped out the door. This spot was getting a lot of attention on social media and I hate long lines for anything so was waiting for hype to die down a bit. It's a pretty small establishment and it was very stuffy in there when I went. I think the way they take orders a bit inefficient, you wait in line passing by the glass display and aren't able to order until you get to the front on the left while they make drinks on the right in front of where ppl would line up. My bf and I ordered a Spanish latte and sweet potato latte (which I only heard, it was not on the menu) as well as a classic cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll was delicious! Warm and moist and gooey. Just the right amount of sweetness. The drinks were a 1 star. My sweet potato latte tasted pretty bitter. And for $10 it was the smallest little cup I've ever seen and I expected it to be stellar. I think they also automated a 20% tip which was like $5 which I would not have done given the service. Not worth the hype imo for the prices especially for the drinks. There's limited seating and the seating is very low modern style (I'm tall so I notice low seating fyi). The staff is very attentive, professional, and nice. I got the classic cinnamon roll, cinnamon roll latte, and double chocolate cookie. The cinnamon roll is on the sweeter side and it sorta tastes like a sticky bun, but I feel it has a bit of a chemical taste to it. You're left with an oily after taste which is not something I like or think should happen after taking a bite. The latte was okay/good but not for $8-$9 when it's such a small size. I have not had a chance to visit the location or experience the service so this is strictly a review based on the cinnamon roll. My sister grabbed me one of these and in full disclosure, I forgot about it for a few days but I still wanted to try it. It was stored in its original box container as well. Honestly, I can't wait to try this fresh. It really reheated well and it was insanely delicious and I've seen some reviews about them being chewy and everyone has their preference and I loved it!!! The chewiness and the balance of cinnamon/sweetness was spot on. Ignore the little black top, I warmed it up in a panini press and it was touching the glaze. This is one of the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had. It was flat but I don't judge a roll by its cover. Eat the thing and let the flavor do the talking. I was excited to try this Black-owned bakery and made the early drive to Pasadena. Parking was a hassle due to an event so the options were either pay for a closer lot for $5 or pay less and walk farther lol. The space itself is super cute with good music, and luckily there wasn't much of a line when we arrived. I also kept trying to ask questions in social media due to seeing the morning and afternoon menu but no one was responding... just liking comments. There was no FAQ page or anything so it was frustrating since I didn't want to drive that far and not get everything I want. But we were able to get most of all we wanted: 7 cookies, a matcha drink, a brownie, and a cinnamon roll. The oatmeal raisin, s'mores, and chocolate chip were decent, but the matcha, brown sugar, and cornbread cookies all oddly tasted the same and lacked flavor. It definitely had me questioning if I was sick and just couldn't taste anything but we both felt the same. I ended up waiting 20 minutes to order. Matcha Cinnamon Roll: definitely the star of the show. It was a great balance of matcha and cinnamon. I do wish the presentation of these was better. Mine seemed to be falling apart. Brownie: thick, moist, and delicious. I would get it again. Red velvet and matcha cookies: again not super strong and thin but still moist. Wish I had tried more. I originally stopped by to grab cinnamon rolls (original and matcha) and lemon loaf to bring to a girlfriend's hangout on a rainy day. I returned a few days later with my nephew and he tried the chocolate chip cookies and I again tried the cinnamon rolls (when I brought them to my friends to try I don't get a chance to indulge). When I glanced over to ask my nephew for a nibble of his cookie he had already consumed the chocolate chip cookie in what felt like 5 seconds flat, he kept commented on how he loved the fact that the cookie was crisp on the edge but soft in the center. I have never been more excited to brag about my visit to the famous Badash Bakery. I saw the beginnings of this bakery on TikTok watching the owner Ashley plan her first bakery she was a personal chef who also sold cookies online and grew a cult following on social media. She had a soft opening and the magic began her social media took off and her videos went viral. My daughter surprised me with a visit on my birthday and It was a nice ride to Badash Bakes located in Pasadena California on a busy street with parking out front and a convenient parking garage across the street. When I say this place is hot it's an understatement the lines are long packed with people and as the lines moved along I felt a chill relaxing vibe. My daughter and I were impressed immediately upon entering there are comfy couches and rows of cookies cakes, banana pudding, regular cinnamon rolls & matcha cinnamon rolls, banana pudding, matcha lattes including strawberry matcha lattes. I say hello to Ashley who was packing orders with her mom and an amazing staff making drinks and restocking deserts. You tell the cashier what you would like and pay then the order is filled while you watch and wait my order was perfectly wrapped in her signature containers and bags nothing was crushed when I unwrapped them. I ordered one of every cookie available a cinnamon roll, banana pudding chocolate cake & red velvet cake and a strawberry matcha latte. We took a few pics and headed home. Here's my thoughts on what I bought. Strawberry Matcha Latte Earthy and creamy not too sweet it was just right very good and only the second time that I've tried matcha I'm glad I chose strawberry. 8/10 Cookies. Cornbread 9/10 unique and tasty. Oatmeal Raisin 10/10 Double Chocolate 9/10 Red Velvet 8/10 Chocolate Chip Toffee 10/10 Chocolate chip 10/0 Brown sugar 10/10 Smores my favorite 20/10 Matcha 8/10 White Chocolate Chip Macadamia 10/10 All the cookies were fresh buttery and delicious. Banana Pudding The pudding was creamy with a fresh banana flavor soft cookies and fresh whipped cream I loved it. 20/10 Cinnamon Roll Buttery and tender with just the right amount of cinnamon and a decadent cream cheese frosting it was delicious. 20/10 Chocolate Cake Tender and rich and the white buttercream was so good. 10/10 Carrot Cake Dense and rich topped with creamy frosting it was very good. 10/10 Both cakes tasted even better the next day at room temperature. I highly recommend you go visit Badash Bakery she's a young entrepreneur making a mark on the Bakery game in Pasadena it's worth the drive and wait in line and now she's officially opened her doors to the bakery adding much more to her menu. I first came across Ashley's bakery on TikTok when she was in the process of building it. Despite me not knowing her personally, I have been very honored to see it turn into a flourishing business. I went to the grand opening to try it for the first time because I have been DYING to try the lemon loaf since I saw her make it on TikTok. Have to say I was not let down. It was so fragrant and flavorful. The same can be said about the red velvet cake and both regular and matcha cinnamon rolls. They are some of the best I've ever had. The s'mores cookie WOW. If you're the type of person that likes desserts that are not too sweet and full of flavor, definitely check this place out. Service: Ashley and her staff were so welcoming. She walked down the line of people waiting and personally thanked them for coming out. She also happened to pack my order and I noticed she was triple checking and counting every item to make sure it was correct. She greeted me when giving me my order and offered napkins and spoons. It's not everyday that you see the owner of a bakery working behind the counters, packing orders, and being so involved with her staff and customers. Overall, I waited 45 min-1hr. Mind you, I arrived 30 minutes prior to the bakery opening because there was a line. Line moved pretty fast as soon as the doors opened (about 15 minutes). I noticed some people were waiting longer but that was because they ordered several drinks and I did not so please keep in mind that if you order drinks you might be waiting a little longer. SO OVERRATED!! AND EXPENSIVE!! The inside is super small so the second you enter, like 5 employees were staring ready to take my order. They were very sweet but just too many people waiting for you, so you can't comfortably look around and decide. I really like the day old cookies for $2. That's a great way to taste all the cookies. We purchased the matcha, chocolate chip, & smore day old cookies. They were good. The matcha had a light flavor. But really moist. We got two toffee cookies, a cornbread cookie, & oatmeal cookie ($3.70 each). I liked the cornbread cookie. It was a light cornbread flavor. It reminded me of the holiday season, like how people go crazy for pumpkin spice anything. I wish it had a little more to it though. I think this would be a great holiday cookie to add to their rotation if it had a little something special to it. The brownie was delicious ($5). It was my favorite. Very moist and tasted like real chocolate was used. I would drive back for this and the toffee cookie. The last thing we had was the cinnamon roll ($6). This was delicious. You can taste the cinnamon swirls. It was soft and buttery. Pure bliss. Better than cinna-bun. Our total cost with tax + tip was under $40. It was worth the sweet treat splurge. We even made our own little charcuterie plates of sweets with what we got once we got home. The service was ok. It was our first time there. So I didn't know we were supposed to pay first and then go pick up our order. Maybe there's a sign stating that, but we didn't notice due to the fact the place was full of customers. So an employee came off a little rude directing us where to go. But the place is really cute. It's small and has sitting inside and outside. Disappointing. I waited over two hours in line and then finally got inside ordered my 2 cinnamon rolls and then had to wait another 15 mins for my order. The bakery itself is cute and clean but it's very warm in there and uncomfortable. There's not allot of space to stand and wait. The couches they have are super cute but not practical they are low to the ground and not suited for allot of people. The cinnamon rolls were so bad. The frosting was sour and grainy and very watery. They also raised the prices 2 days ago so they are now $6 each instead of $5. They are not "elegant" and definitely not service with "love" No one there seems happy to be there or gracious and welcoming. If we are waiting 2 hours at the very minimum a smile and a friendly demeanor would be so nice. Overall not worth it for me. Pasadena has plenty of other bakery options. read more

We waited for 1.5 hours to order on a Saturday. After we ordered we waited about 10 minutes to retrieve our order we got an iced matcha latte with vanilla and chai latte which were good. For the dessert we ordered a matcha cinnamon roll, red velvet cookie, toffee cookie, and matcha cookie. We were disappointed, the cookies nor cinnamon roll was worth the wait. There is not flavor depth in any of the cookies. It was extremely hot in the bakery as if there is no ventilation. read more

Been DYING to try this place! Wanted to try it out on a random Tuesday but they were closed. Luckily we were able to come back another time and just made it in before they closed. Even so closed to closing they had a line out the door. It was such a nice trip though. Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Everything we ordered was great. I thought the edges of the brownie were kind of dry so i got a bit sad but when you get closer to the center it's actually quite enjoyable. The best thing i ordered was the banana cream pudding. I would go back and wait in line just for that. The matcha cinnamon roll was nice too and super softt but i could settle for just the plain cinnamon roll. Everything was great though. Badash Bakery is bringing serious sugar and soul to Pasadena--and I'm here for it! I waited in line for an hour (basically long enough to question all my life choices), but once inside, the process was smooth. You pass by a glorious lineup of baked goods before ordering, which is either helpful or dangerous depending on your self-control (mine? Nonexistent). I tried both the classic and matcha cinnamon rolls--pillowy, flavorful, and definitely indulgent. The cookies? I got six. Every. Single. One. Was a hit. Crispy edges, gooey centers, and big, bold flavors. These cookies don't mess around. I also grabbed the cinnamon roll latte, which tasted like a warm, sugary hug--though a little too sweet for me. That brings me to a small note: overall, their offerings do lean on the sweeter side. My personal taste skews toward those "Asian dessert" vibes--light, subtle, not-too-sweet--but if you do have a sweet tooth, you'll be in heaven here. They're still in their soft opening phase, and I'm sure some things will evolve with time. But all in all? A solid bakery with standout items and a lot of potential. I'm a cookie girlie so I was extremely curious about this place especially after lots of exposure via TikTok. Also I love to support a Black woman owned business. So I went on a Friday after some errands. I arrived a little after 3:30 but parking was easy and lucky. I found a spot right in front. I got in line around 3:40ish and ordered around 4:05. Got my stuff by 4:10ish. So very very quick and efficient. The water cooler was empty outside but it was cooling down already. I like the thought though for those who I imagine got a water bottle earlier in the day when it was hot. Lots of content creators around (likely due to Ashley's big presence and the recent interactions). An employee did recognize a couple behind me (I think they had been there the day before) and offered to save them a matcha cinnamon roll. (I hoped it wasn't the last one cause that would've upset me but luckily it wasn't and I still got mine). The cookies were soooo good. I got a brown sugar, white chocolate macadamia nut, cornbread, matcha, and red velvet. Every single one was soft and perfectly chewy. Exactlyyyyy how I like my cookies. I also got a matcha latte and a matcha cinnamon roll. Both were very matcha forward and good quality. I saw the barista make the latte (the correct way) and it was delicious. Also the matcha icing on the cinnamon roll was super lucious and not grainy at all. Also I got all of this for like $36. Talk about affordable especially in LA. It was basically closing time so they were out of the toffee chocolate chip and the regular cinnamon roll that I wanted to try. Not surprised. BUT I will be back for both of them!!! Line was out the door but it moved at a decent speed. Interesting ordering system where they have you order everything at the cashier rather than in front of the baked goods but maybe that's more efficient. I came here to understand the hype of the cinnamon roll and obviously had to try the matcha one. It's not the best cinnamon roll I've ever had but it's very soft and fluffy throughout. Love that it came warm. The other pastries looked beautiful and tasty as well. read more

The cookies here are all buttery and rich, just with different flavors. I especially liked the matcha cookie--it had a nice balance and wasn't overly sweet. The s'mores cookie was a bit too sweet for me because of the marshmallow, but some might enjoy that extra indulgence. The brownie was dense and fudgy; personally, I prefer a lighter texture, but that's just a preference.
