Came to try Badash Bakes at 11:30am and there was no line. I got the matcha cinnamon roll but was also intrigued by the matcha brownie and cookie. The matcha cinnamon roll was pretty stale tasting - I wish they warmed it up. It's pretty sweet but the matcha flavor is very prominent which is nice. The cinnamon roll itself is nothing special. Services was very bad - the lady at the pastry counter was looking at me so I asked for a matcha croissant. She told me "this isn't where you order" then lead me to the register and threw me to another worker and left. I thought she was very rude and honestly it ruined my experience... They get the matcha cinnamon roll from the back - not the counter. It takes like 3 minutes of wait time total. The matcha cinnamon roll was just over $7 after tax. Parking can be a bit rough since it's right next to city hall. Street parking is metered and there's paid lots nearby as well. Fortunately it moved quickly and I didn't purchase any beverages otherwise my overall wait total would have been longer. But what do you expect on a Saturday morning at this clearly popular establishment. Its location is on busy Colorado Blvd but there is plenty of parking both on the street and in nearby lots, if you're creative. I purchased the classic cinnamon roll and a matcha cinnamon roll and was pleased with the size to price to taste ratio; their classic was exactly what I was hoping for when I woke up with a cinnamon roll craving. I wasn't sure about the matcha. As I opened up its box, a vibrant green stared back at me, but I was pleased to taste a muted, earthy, matcha and found it to be a nice balance to the general sweetness. I think I'll stick to a classic, which was more to my taste and keep my matcha in drink form, but I'd definitely recommend at least trying it. Came here with the kids mid afternoon on a Sunday, and found a decent line out the door. It moved pretty quickly though, so don't let that discourage you. The ordering system is different, but makes sense given how efficiently they move customers through. The service is on point and very friendly. Among the cookies, we got the smores, brown sugar, oatmeal raisin, cornbread, chocolate chip, and matcha. All but the cornbread, which tasted more like a banana flavor, were pretty good. My daughter who doesn't normally love chocolate chip really like that cookie. We didn't get the cinnamon rolls but did get the classic and matcha brownies. My other daughter moved the matcha brownie. Both were a bit denser than what I expected but they were still quite good. We also got the coffee cake (good, but I love most coffee cakes) and the blueberry cornbread (not bad, but probably not something I need to get again). My wife regretted not getting a coffee. I'm sure by now you've seen this place all over social media and it absolutely lives up to the hype. The pastries are stunning, perfectly balanced, and most importantly, not too sweet. So many LA bakeries go overboard with sugar, but here I actually wanted to finish every bite. I got three items and loved them all. The cinnamon roll is an absolute must. We had an hour-long drive home and it was still soft and moist when we got back. The roll itself was fluffy, melted in your mouth, and had just the right amount of sweetness from the cinnamon sugar and icing. The pumpkin loaf is seasonal and it was perfect. I love anything pumpkin and adding cream cheese just made it even better. This loaf felt so much lighter compared to other pumpkin breads I've tried. I can't wait to warm up the leftovers and have them with some yogurt. It was not overly spiced and had the perfect cream cheese to loaf ratio. The cornbread cookie was such a fun surprise. Like many, I have followed Ash on social media so I made it a point to visit her storefront during my recent trip to Cali. I went around 12pm on a Wednesday afternoon and found street parking easily. Once inside, it wasn't clear to me that I had to order the cash register but after standing behind the glass waiting to be acknowledged, I was told where to go. I opted for a brown butter toffee cookie, red velvet slice, lemon loaf, brownie, and cinnamon roll. I have not tried the brownie yet so I'll circle back if it wows me. The lemon loaf was my least favorite. There's an odd flavor that's maybe lemon zest but more like the concept of lemon zest. The icing was great but the loaf itself was pretty inedible. The red velvet slice was also oddly disappointing. It was a little better when I warmed it in the microwave but it's nothing I would order again. The cookie was pretty good but the cinnamon roll was the standout. I loved it and would return to purchase that alone. I paid around $30 for everything. The lines have finally died down and you can actually get something without an hour-long wait. You've seen the pictures of the inside, so I won't waste time on descriptions. The vibe was very neighborhoody and friendly. Per their recommendation, I got the banana pudding.
