Delicious! Favorites I've tried so far: frittata brioche sandwich, lemon ricotta dessert, blackberry pop tart, chicken empanada (kind of buffalo mild chile flavoring mixed with the shredded chicken). They also have a several affordable drink options like coffee and lemonade that I haven't explored yet. Just good to know the setup of the place- there is a window on the corner to order and pay. You do need to stand outside in a line if there is one, but there was shade when I went mid-morning and only 2-3 people ahead of me. you also stand outside to wait for the food to be brought out to you. So it's all completely takeout. You never go inside. But plenty of parking and room to stand. Not really an issue for me but may be a problem if you need to sit or wanted to dine in. I kind of like that no one is allowed inside except the workers. It makes me feel like the food is less likely to be contaminated by people getting close to it or breathing/talking over it like at other coffee shops or bakeries. Everything is out by the window so if customers came inside I could see it being an issue. Would be great to take it to a nearby park and have a picnic. read more

The pastries and bread here are really great. I think that in some other reviews, it's possible some people didn't realize they were getting a more dense rye or wheat loaf. Every bread i've had here is insanely delicious and perfect. The walnut whole grain sourdough is probably the best bread i've ever had in my life. The sandwich/food menu is pricey, but everything is in 2026--I think we're just not used to it yet. They have a line every morning and sell out every day for a reason. read more

Seed has changed. All take out. No dining room. The bakery is still phenomenal, with lots of whole grain and ancient grain options, Seed satisfies with healthy, wholesome goodness. Lunch sandwiches are large and healthy. I don't think you can go wrong choosing anything on the menu. All of the bread and pastry items are made on site. Ok I am officially a member of the Seed Bakery Fan Club. On my second visit, I got a flourless chocolate cake with hazelnuts, which reminds me of an elevated Souplantation brownie, in the best way possible. So good. I also got an iced latte, I love the unconventional cup it comes in LOL. I also got the cauliflower sandwich, which was a very generous portion. I finished half and was full. I finally got to SEED before they sold out of everything! The owner (I think) offered service that was expeditious, and she was patient to answer my million questions. I did not even know they had pastries! Finally deciding, the hazelnut croissant was oh so flakey and layered inside with hazelnut filling. It was perfectly balanced and satisfies my sweet tooth and my savory cravings. Olive sourdough is my favorite bread. My friend Patty S. bakes the most lovely sourdough breads, but she is quite busy these days, so a trip to SEED was in order. I added on the hibiscus lemonade which quenched my thirst, again, not too sweet but full of flavor. SEED will be my local bakery. I can't wait to try the empanadas, hand pies, morning buns and other treats. I highly recommend everything! read more

This place is amazing. I got two sourdough (batard and cranberries) and both tasted great. The bread is dense, chewy in the inside with a nice crisp outer layer. It is fluffy, has irregular holes inside, and a well balanced, tangy flavor. If you prefer more sour flavor then Seed definitely is the right choice. My friend and I went in the early afternoon and all of their pastries were gone already. Definitely need to go in early. The store is not that big, and everything is to-go only (or at least during the time when I was there). They have a parking lot in the back. I wish they could have an another store closer to my place. I would definitely recommend this place to others and go back in the future. read more

Everything was really good. We enjoyed the beef empanadas and the almond croissant which was flaky and just the right amount of almond flavor. The mixed berry croissant was nice and fruity with the custard baked into the dough. We plan to go back when we are in the area to try other items. When we first arrived, there was only 3 people ahead of us in line but by the time we left, the line had gotten much longer. Ok, so I tried this place for the first time yesterday. Though the pastries are Excellent and delicious layered and crispy, *my 3 star critique is mainly due to the imbalance the croissant breakfast sandwich provided*. I ordered 2 of the same croissant breakfast sandwich. I gave 1 to my BF and one I brought with me to work. I was so excited to have it, took 1 bite and UGHHHH the eggs were SO FREAKING OVER-SALTED! Eggs SOOO grossly OVER-SALTED To the point of them being inedible + paired with great quality, but also OVER salted bacon- the sandwich as a whole was INEDIBLE. Anyone who knows me knows I love my salt, but this was like "oops, I spilled the salt" type of inedible salty. I ate the delicious croissant around it, but unfortunately I just had to throw the filling out. Also, took a long time to get the sandwiches, like, no one else in line it it took about 15+ min which doesn't sound like a lot but for what was inside the sandwich (scrambled eggs, bacon, fresh greens and spread on a croissant), seemed excessive. Again, I was the only one there at the time. When I came home from work, I asked my BF how his sandwich was and he actually had the same critique- over salted! So unfortunate since the pastry was SOOO well made! What a waste. Also, $15 per sandwich and I couldn't even eat it... Seed Bakery- please please taste the seasoning on your eggs and bacon/items in general! SOOO disappointed.. again, this x2 breakfast sandwiches consistently inedibly over-salted! I've driven by countless times and finally decided to try it and unfortunately it was underwhelming. I ordered a croissant breakfast sandwich, a chicken empanada, and a beef empanada. The place always has a line, so I expected good things. First red flag: $30 for three items. I get that prices reflect labor costs, etc., but that felt steep for what I got. Second: the wait was well over 20 minutes for a breakfast sandwich, even though there weren't many people ahead of me (there was a line as I was leaving). The food itself didn't hold up either. The sandwich lacked flavor, the bacon tasted off, the eggs were bland, and the added greens didn't help the sandwich. I'm not trying to tank this business, but I can't recommend this place. It clearly leans into the "hipster" aesthetic, simple branding, with high prices but the food doesn't back it up. I'd strongly recommend Tastee's Donuts and Burgers on Fair Oaks as it's a much better option. read more

Seed bakery is not what it appears, or at least, not anymore. As a baker, I try to sample freshly milled flour sourdough breads whenever possible. First off, Seed doesn't mill anymore, but if that were the only problem, I'd overlook it. Instead the bread is clumsily and amateurishly made. It's not properly or fully hydrated, leaving it gritty and not fully cohesive. The fermentation is also underdone, leaving the dense bread an unimpressive oven spring and ugly, random, poorly executed scoring to mar the surface rather than adorn it. Both the sourdough batard and the einkorn pan bread were utterly unacceptably bad, both barely fit for sale or consumption. I didn't try any sandwiches or pastries. This was a bread field trip and I left almost more angry than disappointed at the prices they're charging for unprofessional and unacceptable work and product. read more

I'm not surprised there isn't such a long line here compared to other bakeries. Today, I was given an old brioche. When I came back to ask if it had been baked today, the saleswoman said NO and sent me to the baker to complain. The baker started insisting that I just didn't understand what a properly baked product should be like. Such a shame. If your pastries are from yesterday, you should inform customers about it. I won't be coming back. Maybe it's a small thing, but this ruined my morning. On top of that, I came all the way from Santa Monica just to try this bakery in Pasadena. I came here this past weekend and the goods did not disappoint! Street parking is plentiful and it seems like there's always a wait? But it seems to move pretty quickly. This place has been on my list and always drove past it on a busy evening, but grateful to have tried it! We thought maybe we would need a spread, but they dont allow replacements -drinks are not on the menu, but they seem to have coffee when they don't run out. I get their pastries at Two Kids in South Pasadena and they never disappoint! Their bars are my favorite- esp the plum!!! To die for! The fruit is perfectly cooked sweetened, it's not a paste or jelly but it's real whole pieces of fruit. And the bar it sits on top is soo crumbly and satisfying. I love the texture and flavor. Perfection! I recently tried their apricot fig bar and it was chewy and like a combo of a cake/cookie/bar. So moist. 100% recommend! I'd even go out of my way for this place. read more

I found the apple cider doughnut pastry a little disappointing and lacking in the apple cider tangy flavor, but otherwise everything else was good. Been going here for years and it's just gotten worse. I ordered a couple filled croissants and the bottoms were burnt and it didn't taste freshly baked. I think they were put back in the oven to refresh them and they ended up burning them. I found out whatever doesn't sell today will be sold for full price tomorrow. I have also had stale brioche As for the service, I think she's the owner. She is not the nicest person. She's rude and treats people like she's doing us a favor. My husband and I have loved Seed ever since we first tried it this year. Their pastries are delicious, and if you are looking for specific ones, I suggest you arrive earlier on the weekends (probably 9:30 or earlier, or go on a weekday) to have your pick from all their offerings for the day that you can view through the windows. After making your choices, you can order from the worker at the corner window. Every time I have gone, the workers have all been very nice. ***Do note that they don't take cash, so pay by card or tap to pay! They also sell bread loaves, rolls, and prepared food like burritos and sandwiches (there is a menu next to the ordering window and you can see the bread loaves on a shelf from there as well), but I haven't tried them yet. I love the savory croissants, and my husband likes the empanadas and pies. The pastries are delicious as is but taste even better if you bring them home and toast them. It's not the cheapest place to get baked goods from, but I believe they are worth the quality and taste. They have two tables with umbrellas set up around the corner next to the ordering window if you want to stand around to enjoy your order, but it would be nicer if there was seating like a bench or something. I understand why they might not offer seating/indoor dining anymore since the surrounding area is not the safest, so Seed is more of a take and go place. The breakfast croissant is amazing, that aioli makes such a difference! The avocado toast was delicious and beautiful. The toast's crunch masked the pomegranate seeds (i typically spit them out) while still giving it a suble taste. The ham sandwich was hardy, however some of the ham went to waste because it was so much of it! Good, but I like the croissant and avocado toast better. The food itself is 5 stars, however, you order at the door. You can't go inside at all, and there's no place to sit outside either. The display window is their front window, this makes it difficult to order, because by the time you get to the door to order, you can't see what pastries are still left. BTW, their pastries are delicious! I'm typically not a sweets person, but I'll tend to order a pastrie with my breakfast. Its a bit pricey, but I have trouble getting out of bed on Saturdays, this does the trick. I look forward to their food. read more

Come here for the food, nothing else. We always get the breakfast croissant sandwich- which ($14 for egg and bacon in a freshly toasted croissant). Service is painfully slow and they're not the friendliest of people. You'll be waiting on a busy street to get your order placed on a table outside. They're currently operating as a takeout-only operation and NOT accepting any cash payments. There's free parking in a small parking lot in the back. There was a small queue early in the morning, but it moved quickly. Making a selection was very difficult because all the options were available and everything looked SO good! I went with the strawberry pistachio croissant and was very pleased. The pastry itself was flaky and delicious, and the strawberry flavor went really well with the light pistachio paste inside. The layers softened after several hours because of the fresh berries inside, but it still tasted great. This place is popular for a reason! Oh my GOSH! When my husband and I moved to Pasadena, this was probably the most recommended place! We finally checked it out and we never go anywhere else when it comes to baked goods!!!! Everything, and I mean everything there, is so delicious! The way they formulate, bake and create these goods are superb! The location is on a corner of Washington and a suburb street, and it's a blue painted building, you can't miss it! You can't really go inside since it's just a corner stand, but you can take a sneak peek inside of all their breads and goods! Service is so great - everyone is so nice and helpful! Their sandwiches are also divine! We usually get the cauliflower sandwich, salmon/lox sandwich, and eggplant sandwich! This is such a great bakery run by amazing people. I ordered the pop tart and Chile relleno empanada for my first visit. I absolutely loved the empanada. The chile was diced but still in good sized chunks and spread throughout the empanada for flavor in each bite. It was cheesy and the pastry was flaky and buttery. The pop tart was great as well but slightly too dry, maybe it was over baked a tad? the pastry was a bit too crumbly but still flaky and great flavor. Used to love getting their bread from the farmers market and the shop years ago. Recently moved back to the Pasadena area, but found that it wasn't what I remembered. It was always expensive, but they won't slice it for you anymore. I don't mind the high price for good quality bread, but there's plenty of other good bakeries around that will slice it for you, so they have lost me as a customer with that policy. I understand that some people enjoy slicing their own bread, but I do not. All my bread goes immediately in the freezer because I want to keep it fresh and freezing unsliced bread simply doesn't work. Was going to still leave 2 stars for the high quality of the bread, but I ended up ordering an egg burrito since I was already there and needed lunch. It was on the expensive side and tasted pretty mediocre. They only gave a tiny salsa for a big burrito and when I asked for another one, they told me that be $1 more. If you serve burritos, you should serve appropriate amounts of salsa and not nickle and dime customers afterwards. Burritos are meant to be eaten with plenty of salsa for flavor. Lastly, they also don't allow customers inside the store to eat. It's purely to go. That should result in reduced prices, but it doesn't seem to have. read more

We got delicious breakfast pastries from this spot. A empanada and an artichoke croissant were both quite tasty. Lattes were also spot on. There were just a couple people in line, and we were served quickly, by very friendly staff. It's nice having a parking lot too, there isn't inside seating so we just ate in the car.
