    Banana Pudding
    Tristen S.

Came here for the cinnamon rolls and they didn't disappoint! The banana pudding was surprisingly good too. Took a star off because the matcha was just okay for the price. But I did like the pastries. The place is pretty small and doesn't have a lot of tables. It's mainly street parking too.

I finally made it out to Pasadena. YAYYY :) There was a line out the door, but it moved fairly quickly. Parking: There is street parking available nearby, as well as several parking structures within walking distance. Parking was relatively convenient, although availability may vary depending on how busy the area is. Ordering Process: You don't place your order until you reach the cashier, which I thought was a bit unusual. I would have preferred a system where an employee boxes the items you select before you get to the register. The cashier would often have to call out to the staff which item signs needed to be removed as items sold out in real time. This made the process feel a bit disorganized. By the time I reached the cashier, several items that had been displayed when I first arrived were already sold out. It was disappointing to get excited about certain items only to find out they were no longer available when it was finally my turn to order. Food: I ended up getting a variety of cookies, and they were all delicious. I was especially hoping to try the banana bread, but unfortunately it sold out before I could order. Seating: Seating is very limited. While waiting in line, customers end up standing very close to those who are eating because there isn't much space inside. The layout can feel a bit crowded during busy times. Overall: Despite the crowded space and somewhat frustrating ordering process, the baked goods were excellent and worth the visit. I would definitely return, but I'd recommend arriving early if there's a specific item you want to try.

So so good! Finally got to try this spot and definitely will be coming back! The cookies are so thin and yummy! Not pictured is the cinnamon roll because it was gone so quick! Would come back for the matcha cinnamon roll. Rest of my group got the banana bread and loved it as well! Street parking Limited seating out front and inside

Came here because of the social media posts about the big cookies! There's street parking in front of the store that's metered and a "free" 15 minute green zone available. There were plenty of options available when we got there! They display their available pastries in a transparent display case and it was refreshed pretty often. They also sell their day-old cookies for a discounted price! It was my first time there and everyone gave us recommendations on what pastries were customer favorites and baker favorites! When you're ready, they actually have you go to the cashier and then when you pay, they prepare your pastries and drinks for you. There's a few tables inside and outside for you to enjoy their baked goods! I got 2 cookies, 1 cinnamon roll, and 1 banana pudding for my family and the total came out to be $24.50. Baked Goods: Toffee Chocolate Chip Cookie (8.1/10): This one was my boyfriend's favorite and he hasn't shut up about it since. This one is exactly how it's named. The dough was entirely toffee flavored (adds a nutty flavor) and the amount of chocolate chips they added was perfect for a sugar tooth's palette. I personally thought that this one was too sweet for me but this was unique to me. Chocolate Chip Cookie (8/10): A chocolate chip cookie lover's dream. It was a flat chocolate chip cookie that has a 80/20 ratio of chocolate chips to dough. If you like a doughier chocolate chip cookie, this one isn't for you. The chocolate got all over my fingers (not a complaint) and the sea salt they added on top was the perfect saltiness that cut through the sweetness of everything. Banana Pudding (7.9/10): I like a good banana pudding that doesn't have artificial flavoring and this hit the spot. The wafers that they use in the pudding added a perfect texture to the creaminess of the pudding. I liked how they left some (intentionally or unintentionally) uncoated so it had a crunchy texture to the pudding. I wished that every spoonful was more consistent with pudding and wafers but that's just a personal preference. Cinnamon Roll (7.5/10): Every single bite was coated in the frosting! Each layer/swirl was covered in the frosting and cinnamon (paste?). I asked one of the bakers that were refreshing the baked goods and she said that they were known for their cinnamon roll! They definitely are, it was gooey, sweet, and cinnamony. The layers were soft and this one definitely would taste amazing out of the oven.

Came here about a week ago and like everyone says, the way ordering is set up makes no sense. I was there when it was very slow and believe the business should definitely work on this. If they had a setup similar to other eateries like Artelice or Laduree, it would flow way better. The way that it's setup now with a viewing area with staff to only answer questions, then ordering in the back of the business, then backtracking to the coffee station to grab pastries, then going to the front of the store for cutlery and napkins and THEN going back to the coffee station to get any drinks... whew a mess. Can't imagine how bad it is when it's actually busy. Got the plain cinnamon roll and it was just okay, especially for the price. I feel like they use one type of cinnamon (ceylon cinnamon, maybe?) instead of a mix. It was very strong on the drier notes some cinnamon varieties tend to have. The espresso was ok. I wanted to try other drinks, but the prices were highway robbery. The price of the London fog latte being 7.50??? Crazy work. Especially since the menu does absolutely nothing when giving descriptions on what is in or on each oroduct (ie - store made syrup, earl grey tea harvested from the alps itself, the cinnamon roll explaining if it's frosting or cream cheese, etc) Additionally, I was drinking my espresso, tilted my head up, and saw this... nice thing to look at while I was eating right underneath it. Yikes

Please bring back the strawberry cinnamon roll! This was so so good! It was only available on the Saturday before Mother's Day, but please bring this back again! Thank you kindly.

This rating is for the food only. The tiramisu cake was really moist and decadent. The cream on too was light with a hint of espresso. I really enjoyed it and it wasn't as dense as I thought it would be. The s'more cookie was thin yet soft, with a nice thin dollop of marshmallow. Not too sweet yet enjoyable. I would definitely get both again. Staff, however, did not greet or acknowledge people upon entering. They seemed too busy with getting orders ready.

It's a blink and you'll miss it bakery, so let me explain exactly where it's located. It's across the street from Fogo de Chao, and near the old Tokyo Chick. It's a small storefront so don't drive too quickly! Now that's out of the way, I went early on a Thursday morning so it was right when they opened and before the rush began. They have a ton of pastries and cookies to choose from. I went with the cinnamon roll because I heard so many good things about it. First, it's deceivingly big. Is deceivingly a word? Well, it is now. Anyway, it's not too sweet so those who don't really have a sweet tooth will enjoy this. And it's fresh!! The staff was super sweet and patient with me as I couldn't decide what I wanted (I mean, check out the photos). I highly recommend and I will be back!

What a cute little bakery! We tried their carrot loaf and it was so thick but moist, definitely not too sweet which I love. Parking is just street parking in front but honestly we got very lucky and didn't have to search for too long. You can see a display case with their food items when you walk in and place an order at the front our loaf came out so quickly and it was very good. Next time we're down in Southern California we'll stop by to try their other foods! Congrats on the new bakery!

line is soo long in the morning!! decided to wait to try it as i saw the matcha cinnamon roll going viral! got a strawberry matcha latte, matcha cinnamon roll, matcha brownie, and tres leches cake. if you have a sweet tooth, youll most definitely like this place. strawberry matcha latte: nothing too stand out but is a good latte nonetheless matcha cinnamon roll: good concept but cinnamon def overpowering any matcha flavor matcha brownie: i enjoy this as it wasnt too overly bitter or sweet! i think this is better than a regular brownie tres leche cake: def good traditional cake, very sweet! the space is a bit small so there arent many tables inside, so it is pretty limited. but very aesthetic vibe and pastries overall! also, parking is very hard - even in the morning times!

S'mores (yummy), matcha, peanut butter cookies!
    Helen D.

The cinnamon roll latte was such a win. I asked for it to not be too sweet and they nailed it. I love cinnamon in coffee, and I got it with almond milk -- so good. The classic cinnamon roll was solid too. I also tried a few of the cookies. The matcha cookie was just okay since it didn't really have much matcha flavor, but the peanut butter cookie was good and the s'mores cookie was definitely my favorite of the three. Their cookies are thin, but pretty big -- about the size of a CD, which is exactly how my daughter described them My favorite item was the tiramisu loaf. The cream topping was delicious and the chocolate cake was super moist. I'd absolutely come back for that and the cinnamon roll latte next time I'm in the area.

2.28.26 Matcha cinnamon roll (not my fav) and classic brownie (amazing)
    Catherine S.

I've been eyeing this place since seeing the matcha cinnamon roll and finally woke up early enough to try it this weekend. It's a small storefront with limited seating and tables inside. Parking is street parking and wasn't super difficult on a Saturday morning. The line wasn't terribly long around 11am and moved pretty quickly although the cashier definitely didn't seem like she wanted to be there. I ordered the matcha cinnamon roll that I was so excited to try but was disappointed by the flavor. The texture was very good though but I don't think I would get it again. I also got the cornbread cookie and double chocolate cookie which were pretty soft and thin. Their new pound cake was extremely sweet and dry so I would not recommend it. The star of the show that surprised me was the classic brownie. I would definitely recommend this one since the chocolate wasn't overly sweet and the texture was perfect.

Still, the coffee itself is great, and this is one of the places I'd happily come back to.

TL;DR Mandarin 2 is the only place for the serious spro…read moreenthusiast! Over the years, I've been incredibly honored, blessed and humbled to experience coffee in deeper way than most, locally having the experienced Thee Coffee GOATs/Royalty & LA Coffee Pioneers (Glanville & Babinski and the OG crew that includes but not limited to Jaymie Lao, Percy Ramirez, Brent Glanville, M'lissa, Sumi Ali, etc...and including so many more like Mike Phillips, Tyler Wells, Yeekai Lim, Leon Li, Frank La...I can go on and on), to which I am eternally grateful. Regrettably over the last 10 or so years, it has been my perception that much of the specialty coffee industry has: 1) capitulated to the taste buds of the casual coffee drinker (or the masses) and have abandoned their desire to change hearts and minds with education about a new wave of coffee drinking experience; 2) are shops owned and operated by people who are non coffee professionals (you know who you are!) and lack pedigree & experience. I get it. It's tiring and frustrating trying to help customers understand that what they are drinking is not "weak" coffee just because they "can't taste coffee." The masses & self-proclaimed coffee enthusiasts want "strong/bold" coffee but they themselves don't even understand what that means! Youngsters want to drink their iced lattes all the while pretending to be grown ups and/or be part of some trendy shop. they take 100s of pictures of the same latte and finally post one to their intriguing Instagram story. Why? Because trendy, duh! Thank God for Sherry Gao and the undeniably talented team at Mandarin & Mandarin 2. THESE KIDS ARE BONAFIDE COFFEE PROFESSIONALS!!!! They have phenomenal coffee pedigree! If you are familiar with my senseless ramblings, or so-called "reviews", you will notice that this one lacks my customary per item ratings and elaboration. This is intentional. Considering the subject matter of coffee, I simply cannot and will not write about "how good this latte is", etc. With all due respect, I drink spro, and almost always only spros at shops that actually know what they are doing (with an occasional deviation of a spro & some milk or something else interesting to my palate at the moment). So yeah, if you must know, Mandarin 2 is THEE PLACE for coffee. And to all the iced latte experts, please do spare us your expert opinion on coffee.

This place is for someone who wants to try something new and interesting…read more I'm not Chinese or Asian so these flavors were new to me. I got the seasonal coconut latte and I liked the espresso it was smooth and creamy. My mother got their latte with the milk tea and I personally liked it but she wasn't very happy with it. The baristas weren't accommodating about substitutions or offering to make a new drink. Each business has a right to run it the way they want but be warned that you kind of have to commit to trying something you may not like. This place gives an either you like our drinks or just don't come back type of vibe. They don't really seem to care about appeasing you. Do with that information what you will.
