Went there for drinks before dinner and seems like a really cool place. The margaritas were fantastic! I got the blackberry margarita and my husband got a lime on the rocks. He normally doesn't enjoy them on the rocks but said this one was great. I read over the food menu even though we didn't eat and it looked to have a lot of variety for Mexican food. If you've ever had a fresh tortilla vs. the packs of tortillas you get in the grocery store you'll know the difference is night and day. Went to Bad Bean with my family and was extremely disappointed. Our server was inattentive and impatient, snatching menus out of our hands and rushing our orders. She only checked on us once, and the hostess ended up printing our check because she couldn't find our server. The support staff seemed frustrated, throwing dishes as they bussed and not knowing where our missing food was when they ran it. The salsa was so fresh you could actually taste that the peppers were fired roasted earlier the same day. We tried the medium red salsa - delicious, the milder salsa verde - which was sweeter, the queso - the right amount of velvety creaminess and the guacamole - also smooth and tasty. My wife had the fish special which was Wahoo over grit cakes, a chipotle pepper sauce, roasted corn and tomato. She really loved it. I didn't try it because I don't eat fish - but she would have told me honestly if it was any less. I had the Mexican meatball quesadilla (based on recommendations on Yelp). Should have gone with my first choice the enchiladas. The quesadilla was fresh, you could taste that, but way too much meat inside - you had to use a knife and fork because there was no way to pick it up without all the filling falling out. Yes, I am complaining because of too much meat, have as much would have made this quesadilla better - and at half as much meat, it still would have been a good value. Checked this out based on Yelp reviews. Its a bit off the road and easy to go by. The signs don't actually have "Taqueria" on them that I saw. Was not disappointed and will add this to the regular food schedule for our OBX trips. Food was excellent first. Great service and drinks (Stone on tap, fresh mixers,...) round out an overall great experience. Great for our kids and seemed setup to fit a few groups. Definitely worth your time. read more
