Antojitos serves up some seriously delicious food and is the place for Mexican food in the OBX area in my opinion. Here's the deal: Antojitos restaurant features both traditional and Mexican-American with a more traditional leaning in ingredients and most importantly, flavor! One thing that makes this restaurant stand out is that the meat here is marinated and cooked in a traditional style including its Al Pastor option. Something many Mexican restaurants don't do or don't do well. This is then mixed with other ingredients that make the food vibrant, including pickled jalapeños with carrots, custom hot sauces, and Antojitos own crema among others. We tried fajitas which were some of the best I've had, Al Pastor gordita, chicken chile relleno, and a torta cubana. All amazing and made every person in my party want to come back during our trip. Portions are large, you will not go hungry. Prices are very reasonable and definitely less than restaurants "on the strip". The restaurant is medium sized with plenty of seating, including tables that can be used for large parties. Service was fantastic and with a smile. Drinks never went dry. If eating in the restaurant look for specials on the boards which don't appear on the menu. Highly recommend, I will definitely be back. We ate at the Powells Point location and it is absolutely worth the little drive if you are staying on the islands. Happy eating and see you there! read more

Food is delicious! Prices are super reasonable? The place is decorated like you're sitting in another country, very authentic. Service was great. Our server checked on us often. Only issue was she didn't bring us water refills and we didn't ask. One thing to note is that they do NOT have alcohol. I wanted a margarita bad but just had water. The guacamole was fresh and a very generous portion. Chips are complimentary but the menu says they charge after the first basket. My tostada order came with 3 full sized tostadas: crunchy corn tortilla topped with beans, lettuce, pico and some sort of powder cheese. Their salsa is excellent. We do pickup on the chips and salsa when we drive in to the island. They are about 3 miles from the bridge. read more

How this gets a 4.5 is mind blowing. First, the food was mediocre at best. They skimped on meat in the carne asada burrito and it didn't have avocado as listed in the menu. They overcharged for multiple items - the bland rice and bean side was $8 with the tacos, making them $20. Tiny tacos! Felt like a total tourist trap. The service was slow and I had to constantly keep flies away from my food. Don't waste your time. read more

We order tacos to go the moment we got the tacos the car has a bad smell like something was bad we believe it was the onions or something else. We also got esquites not recommended preferly get the whole corn the esquite veas fake corn and the taste was not good. We did not notice Los Antojitos when we drove down the Carritoke Highway for this OBX visit but saw it when we went north shopping. We stopped in for lunch and had some excellent food. I decided on the Fire Shrimp and was not disappointed. The shrimp were fresh and flavorful as you would expect on the coast. They were served in a delicious red sauce, that had a little heat, but was also very well flavored. This was very enjoyable. Ms T had a taco salad that she liked as well. Both meals were served with very good guacamole that, to our amazement, was not loaded with tons of onion. I noticed that they serve Tacos de Lengua and almost ordered them. Next time. Based on only one visit, I have to say this was worth a 14-mile drive from KDH and I am going with five stars. I wish them well and plan to return. read more

There were not a lot of cars outside when we first arrived but it filled up quickly in the next 30 minutes. There were a number of options available and our foursome all tried something different the food was excellent and the portions were large. We will definitely go back again the next time we are in the area. I would rate this restaurant in the top 5% of any Mexican restaurant I have been to. I have been here several times now. The restaurant is always clean and the staff are always very welcoming and efficient. First stop was because we were hungry and it was there. We were blown away by the amount of food that came our way and the authenticity of the flavors. Needless to say bags went home with us. The next few times we returned more family came with us and for a first no one ever complained about the menu or the food. There is always more than enough for even the teen boys appetites. We want to encourage others to give this place an opportunity to impress them with some excellent Mexican meals. read more

Los Antojitos far exceeded our expectations, and we've added it to our "regular rotation" for dining out. It was sooo much better than anything on the beach, or the one in Grandy. I had street corn and shrimp ceviche, both terrific. Husband had a homemade tamale and a new discovery, "huarache", a corn cake with delicious toppings.
