If you cut me right now I would bleed Coastal Cantina queso -- that's how much of it I ate on my recent trip to the Outer Banks. Creamy with the perfect amount of spice and plentiful chunks of tomato, it's impossible not to get and devour any time I'm here. We come here often during our time in the Outer Banks due to convenience, plus you can't beat the view. The bar serves beer, wine and an inventive mix of wine based cocktails, and the food is your typical Mexican fare with a few fun local twists like the crab quesadilla and duck pizzadilla (part pizza, part quesadilla). Service is quick, we never wait long for our food to come out here. The boardwalk seating is the only thing that's tricky -- this place can get packed and finding a table that fits your whole family can be challenging during peak hours.

Okay food, good margaritas & nice ambiance if you can score a picnic table next to the water. Bar service. They definitely gave us the crumbs at the bottom of the bag of chips. A fine spot for a quick lunch in duck

During my recent visit to the OBX, my boyfriend treated me to this cute little restaurant on the water. It is tucked away in the Waterfront Shops area in Duck, which homes a variety of storefronts from ice cream to Lily Pulitzer. There's even a little bird sanctuary! We got lucky and arrived just as a table cleared up, so we received table service as opposed to ordering at the bar. They include chips and salsa on the house, and we decided to supplement with an order of guacamole too. The guac was fresh, chunky and well-seasoned. The salsa was also tasty with a little kick to it. I think the chips were a little on the salty side. For my entree I ordered the Mahi Mahi Tacos. I had briefly considered the Duck Tacos but after discussing with our waiter he candidly turned me away from them. I can appreciate a waiter with brutal honesty that knows what their establishment does well! The tacos were fantastic. They held just the right amount of contents and stayed together well because they doubled up on the tortillas, which is necessary when you order corn tortillas. It was well balanced between the slight spiciness of the Mahi Mahi and the crunchiness of the slaw. I also added some guac and Tapatío to punch it up a notch. I will definitely visit again even if only for the views. There was also a crab quesadilla on the menu that caught my eye that I would like to try!

Great place to grab a beer and some Tacos and watch the Sunset into the sound! They need WAY more seating though. Taco Salad was great and queso to. You order food through window so Good-luck finding available seating. But the sights and sounds you can't beat!

My family is local to OBX and this is one of our favorite spots. Its the best at Sunset during the summer, and this is also when it's the most crowded. Arrive early to avoid wait times and give the staff a break!! If you end up having to wait, just grab a drink and enjoy the view or walk around to the shops until a table opens up. My favorite thing to order is the crab pizzadilla, and we always get guac and quest as appetizers. The crab quesadilla is also delicious and I'm a huge fan of the fish tacos. If youre looking for a drink, ask for any of the drafts or a refreshing Pinot Grigio.

View from outside tables. Nice local draft lager brewed by a group of ex green berets.

The burritos are mainly rice. Tortilla not good. Guac not fresh. Would not recommend this place, especially if you're vegetarian.

Location.... The food was meh. But the view and ambiance were well worth it! Don't recommend the tacos.

Antojitos serves up some seriously delicious food and is the place for Mexican food in the OBX area…read morein my opinion. Here's the deal: Antojitos restaurant features both traditional and Mexican-American with a more traditional leaning in ingredients and most importantly, flavor! One thing that makes this restaurant stand out is that the meat here is marinated and cooked in a traditional style including its Al Pastor option. Something many Mexican restaurants don't do or don't do well. This is then mixed with other ingredients that make the food vibrant, including pickled jalapeños with carrots, custom hot sauces, and Antojitos own crema among others. We tried fajitas which were some of the best I've had, Al Pastor gordita, chicken chile relleno, and a torta cubana. All amazing and made every person in my party want to come back during our trip. Portions are large, you will not go hungry. Prices are very reasonable and definitely less than restaurants "on the strip". The restaurant is medium sized with plenty of seating, including tables that can be used for large parties. Service was fantastic and with a smile. Drinks never went dry. If eating in the restaurant look for specials on the boards which don't appear on the menu. Highly recommend, I will definitely be back. We ate at the Powells Point location and it is absolutely worth the little drive if you are staying on the islands. Happy eating and see you there!

My hubby had 2 chimichangas with rice and beans also exceptional. We were so full we basically rolled out of there! Portion sizes are huge and the rices are reasonable. You can't go out for under $100 anymore. I was shocked and how small the bill was. Of course we tip very well. This is going to be a family go to once we move there full time!!! I sincerely hope this review reaches the owner because I have never experienced anything like this…read morein my life. Having worked in the service industry myself, I generally have a great deal of patience and understanding when dining out--especially in a busy vacation destination. I know that restaurants can become overwhelmed, and I rarely complain. In fact, before the evening of July 12, I had never walked out of a restaurant in the middle of a meal or complained directly to staff. Our party of five arrived around 5:30 p.m. after reading many positive reviews. We were seated immediately, and a few minutes later our server took our drink order. Three of us ordered beers, and my mother-in-law and I specifically asked if margaritas were available. We were told, without hesitation, "Yes," and our order was taken. We later discovered the restaurant doesn't even have a bar or serve liquor, meaning the drinks we ordered were never actually available. We waited...and waited...for drinks that never arrived. We asked about them multiple times and were repeatedly told they were coming. Eventually, our food was delivered before we had received a single drink. To make matters worse, we weren't given any utensils. Even after asking several times for both our drinks and silverware, nothing arrived. The food itself was unacceptable. Everything was served cold and only became colder while we waited for utensils. The final straw came when my husband's meal arrived with an ingredient he had specifically requested be left off. He politely sent it back. Less than three minutes later, the plate was returned to him, clearly the same meal with the unwanted ingredient simply picked off by hand rather than remade. I tried speaking with the staff--who appeared to be the only two employees working--and simply asked for utensils and the drinks we had ordered. I was met with blank stares and no meaningful response. There was no manager available to address the situation or assist in any way. We also weren't the only customers having problems. Another family waited an excessive amount of time for drinks for their children while a table seated after them had already received their beverages and meals. It was obvious that service throughout the restaurant was disorganized and inconsistent. At that point, we refused to eat the food. We simply wanted to pay for the three beers we had received and leave, but no one would bring us a check despite our requests. After waiting even longer, we finally left. Shortly afterward, another table also walked out, and a family waiting outside for a table decided to leave after we shared our experience. I never enjoy leaving negative reviews because I understand how difficult it is to run a small business. However, potential customers deserve to know what they may encounter. This wasn't just a slow night or an isolated mistake--it was a complete breakdown of service from beginning to end. One star is honestly too generous. This was, without question, the worst restaurant experience I have ever had.
