We went on a Monday evening and were greeted immediately as well as seated immediately. The young lady that waited on us was extremely nice and offered suggestions when we asked. The chips and salsa they gave as soon as we sat were very good. We ordered extra salsa :) The margarita I had was very good big enough for two people. The food was amazing so full of flavor and cooked beautifully. I had chicken fajitas Gould easily feed 3people! The fresh guacamole was perfect so yummy. My hubby had 2 chimichangas with rice and beans also exceptional. We were so full we basically rolled out of there! Portion sizes are huge and the rices are reasonable. You can't go out for under $100 anymore. I was shocked and how small the bill was. Of course we tip very well. This is going to be a family go to once we move there full time!!! We are regulars at 3 Tequilas. Ms T likes to eat for $2 on Taco Tuesday. I like to have the California Tacos with Tilapia and a side of their black beans. I also order Huevos Rancheros which are not a menu item, but they generally will make the eggs for me and I appreciate that. Our recent visit was not as good as what we normally experience. Ms T's gringa tacos in crunchy shells were not drained and the tortillas instantly fell apart from the juice that dissolved them. The sauce on my huevos was more of an Italian sauce. All they need to do is use their reasonably good salsa that is served with chips. Worst of all, the black beans were not what we usually enjoy. These were completely unsalted and serving was mostly bean broth and only a few beans. I'm sure we will continue to go here, but this was the first inconsistent visit and I hope it does not signify some issues in the kitchen. read more

Great Mexican restaurant if you're looking for a sit down casual Mexican vibe with vegan/vegetarian options - the soy protein is quite tasty! The restaurant had multiple open tables on a Friday afternoon for lunch. The server was very nice and willing to accommodate our preferences. We got the vegetarian enchiladas (dubbed the cheese sauce for poblano mole) and the vegetarian tacos. The tacos were my favorite! The marg was served in a huge glass! I really like this restaurant. Mondays kids eat free, I'm sold right there. Food was solid and I like the chips and salsa that come out when you sit at your table. Now hopefully the management can respect some tough love. Our server either had the personality of a park bench or straight up doesn't care about how he engages with his customers. Either way, the servers could use some additional training in how better too take care of their guests. I have years of restaurant experience and you have to at least check on your guests every 10-12 minutes. We only saw our server 3 times the whole visit. We have come here every year since they opened. The food is good but this year the service is atrocious. Food took over an hour. We found a gnat in a margarita and in the food. In the Kill Devil Hills area we were struggling to find some diversity in our food. We found 3 Tequilas a few miles from our hotel so we decided to stop in for dinner. There was no wait and we were sat immediately. Our waiter greeted us and provided us with complimentary chips and salsa. When we inquired about a less spicy salsa for our toddler they were able to provide a milder salsa. The prices here are reasonable and the portions are large. I ordered the enchiladas with carne and my wife ordered a salad. Our biggest gripe with the restaurant was once we were served our food the server never really came back to check on us. We had an error with our meal and the server had to step back to ask the kitchen if they could make an accommodation for us. He then returned and we had to wait another 10-15 minutes for the right dish. All in all, it took over 20 minutes for my wife to get her proper meal. Normally, I would get up and find the server myself but the restaurant is huge and he was nowhere to be found. I'm also comparing my experience with DMV restaurants where we are all about speed and efficiency. I would definitely come back again, especially if you are sick of BBQ sandwiches or bar food. read more

Probably the best Mexican restaurant in the Outer Banks. First of all, there was no wait to get a table on a Thursday evening, even though the place was busy. They seemed to be well-staffed with friendly and courteous people. Food wait was very reasonable. The beer was cold and the food was delicious. Table chips and salsa was a bit overly salty for my liking, but I think that is on purpose ;) For my meal I had the carne asada. Delicious tender pieces of steak and all the fixings. The rice and beans were tasty too. The corn tortilla's were fresh. We also had the vegan tacos which were very good and used a seasoned jackfruit. Then it took a while for them to take our drink order and bring the routine chips and salsa. When they finally brought our drinks they sat them heavily on the table and walked away. We had to ask a manager to send someone to take our order. He took the order and brought the food but never checked on us. We had to finally ask for the check. This is the 2nd and last time for me. Went to this fine establishment today. Was craving some Mexican foot and came across 3 Tequilas. The staff was very friendly and nice and was fast with helping us and getting us settled and food in. A lot of different food and drink options. Decided to try the chimichanga Texan and it was sooooo good. For 4 people who got entrees and 3 sodas and 1 water, our bill was around $68. Came here for taco Tuesday! Although no one actually got tacos. We got seated right away and ordered table side guac. That guac could make someone who doesn't like guac into a believer!! SO GOOD! We ordered margs and they were HUGE. Tasted okay not the best I've ever had. No one was super impressed with their drink. Just average. Celebrated Cinco De Mayo here! We arrived about 6pm and waited a little over and hour for our party of 4 to be seated. The restaurant is much larger than it looks from the outside, they brought us around to some booths near the bar. Within a minute of seating, the waiter came for our drink order, we weren't quite ready, but feeling rushed, we ordered 3 house margaritas and a beer-ita. We saw on Facebook that the margaritas were $5 for cinco de mayo, however, neither the waiter or the website stated that was for the small margaritas and the default order is for large. We ordered table side guacamole, and each got a different entree. They didn't end up making the guacamole next to our table and the brought it out with the rest of the entrees as opposed to before. It had no seasonings and the avacodo was very large pieces, we personally didn't enjoy it or eat much of it. For entree, I got the Pina Loka, it was actually very good and a unique menu item! I'm sure this place is usually pretty good and has good service, it's just hard to tell based on the busiest day of the year. read more

We absolutely loved this place. Our waiter was a very kind and efficient young man. My hubby has a service dog and he brought him a bowl of water. The food may be the best Mexican we've ever had. As a broke seasonal worker living in the OBX, I am a frequent visitor to taco Tuesdays. During dinner, you can get tacos for a dollar, which is an amazing value. However, these tacos are pretty mid tier which is still good for the price. Since I frequent the restaurant on their busiest night of the week, service is often pretty slow for a pretty easy meal to make. My only gripe with the restaurant is that you can not split checks on taco Tuesdays, which makes payment with a large group difficult, but I understand why they do it. They also have a large, but relatively expensive cocktail section, including a Beer-Rita, which is a beer poured into a margarita. I have not tried any other dishes here other than their tacos, but I do enjoy their chips and salsa which they bring as a free appetizer, and often pour it over my tacos. read more

We go to Nags Head at least twice per year. Never in all that time have we eaten in a Mexican restaurant. I guess because, when you're at the beach, you're thinking seafood. The booth we were in had a cold breeze blowing on us from the AC. When asked if it could be turned down a bit the response was, "Well, one thermostat controls the entire downstairs OK, makes sense. We kept the table at which we were first seated. Ordering: Ordering was painless. As we looked over the menu I noted lots of pictures of the item. So many choices. Jay had the Tacos al Pastor and I had a ground beef taco salad. Jay's tacos were good, he said. My taco salad was deplorable. I absolutely love taco salads. The mixture of seasoned ground beef, cheese. And all the usual toppings. Let's talk about the salad, shall we? A delicious, crispy, flaky bowl suitable for eating, which I did. OK, here it comes. The other salad ingredients, including lettuce, tomato, and cheese were on par with other restaurants. What wasn't on par was that it was served in a medium taco salad bowl filled with a grayish brown color. In all my years of eating taco salads, I have NEVER had one served in gravy. Yes, a semi-thick gravy. That's where they lost me. I took one bite and put down my fork. I was done. No doggy bag tonight. Bleck!! This is a place to which I will not return. FYI - the server never asked why I didn't eat or if there was something wrong with the food. smh With so many choices in The Outer Banks, make a smart choice and avoid 3 Tequilas. We stopped by on a Saturday at around 5:30. It was not crowded at all. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. We had the house margaritas. Their drink menu doesn't have any prices on it. I find that slightly annoying but we were gonna get what we got no matter what so it didn't really matter to us. Margarita was good and a good size as well (I think they were 10.99 each). Chips and salsa were good. We decided on nachos to have with our margaritas. These are NOT your traditional "stack of chips" with toppings nachos. We received 9 chips and each chip had all the toppings on it. At first we were like "what" !!!! But it was actually good. You could experience all the toppings in a few bites. This rarely happens with the traditional nacho stack. We would come back. Maybe Taco Tuesday next time. read more

The 3 Taquilla restaurant is a great place to enjoy a delicious meal, we visited this fine establishment for dinner. We were promptly seated and our waitress; Ashley immediately appeared to take our drink order. Immediately another associate brought a delicious bowl of chips and salsa and an individual small bowl of cheese queso. I ordered from the chicken menú, I ordered Pollo Asado. This is grilled chicken breast topped with grilled onions and cheese sauce served with rice and beans. I was pleased with the chicken. It had a great taste, great blend of spices. Brought my vegetarian daughter here for dinner. Chips and salsa were yummy and kept coming. She had the humongous veggie burrito which was big enough for 2 meals and she said it was very good. I tried the chicken and spinach enchiladas which were delicious. I subbed beans for the rice as I love refried beans.
