As part of my quest to find the best breakfast burrito in SoCal, I was craving a breakfast burrito real bad on a workday but didn't want to leave the house in the rain--a delivery from Bad-Ass Breakfast Burritos definitely satisfied that craving. Disclaimer that this review is for a burrito that was delivered, but really that takes away nothing from it. I ordered the Haus burrito with no spicy mayo (partially because I tend not to like mayo-based sauces and some other reviews said it made it too salty) not knowing what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised--even for something that was delivered by food pickup service it was still very warm and fresh tasting by the time it arrived. The burrito was really, really well balanced in terms of all the different ingredients in it. I wasn't sure what to expect from the smoked bacon but it was much more of a tender bacon vibe than crunchy, crispy bacon. The sauce or fat that it was cooked in was super, super umami which was a nice contrast to the mix of eggs, hashbrowns, and cheese in the rest of the burrito. Really yummy stuff! The one thing I wasn't sure about was the caramelized onions--it sort of overpowered the burrito which at first was really interesting as it complimented the smoked bacon, but after a while it felt like the flavor was primarily caramelized onions. It definitely gives it a flavor profile that makes you forget you're eating a breakfast burrito. Perhaps a bit less of the onions would've made it better. Somehow, even with all these ingredients, it did not feel overly greasy. For the price I felt like it was justified as the burrito was pretty packed with stuff. I only tried the Bronco Burrito but you bet I will try the other creative burritos. My Bronco Burrito was filled with scrambled eggs, bacon you can select how you want your eggs are prepared which is an added plus because you know that they are made to order. Was close to giving it 4 starts but just couldn't. There were three things lacking for me. 1. The hashbrowns weren't cripsy. They were also not distributed very well so you'd get some bites that were mostly uncrisp haskbrown. 2. The tortilla was just ok. I'm very spoiled living in San Diego with Mexican food and the tortilla just wasn't as good as any you'd find down here. 3. No hot sauce options. All they had was bottles of El Yucateco. I'm a huge foodie. I try food from almost every state (I travel for work). I'm the guy who researches places, reads reviews, asks around, etc. So when I was on the hunt for the BEST breakfast burrito, I did my research. I found all the places people recommended locally (Long Beach, CA). I was going to make a point to pick each place and try their burrito (and I did about 5). In looking things up, I ran across "Bad-Ass Breakfast Burritos" but since it wasn't a 'storefront' I thought it was food truck and didn't want to try and find it. Then, on a work trip to Vegas, I saw it there TOO. I thought I'd try it. I realized that it's a food delivery made in the kitchens of "Dog Haus Biergarten" (whose food I also love). I started with the Hangover Burrito (I was happily surprised to see that was Sam The Cooking Guy's creation). It was DELICIOUS! The BEST breakfast burrito I've ever had. I couldn't believe it! Then, I branched out and tried the Borracha Burrito (chili-cheese) and the Pastrami Burrito. Both were amazing!!! I've had so many burritos from here (and they reheat wonderfully as well), I'm starting to turn INTO a burrito. Haha! I've turned on about 3 or 4 friends to it as well. Do yourself a favor and try it out. Here are a few tips when ordering: 1. ALWAYS get the eggs SUNNY-SIDE UP. That is usually an option but sometimes, I didn't see it and had to write it in the notes. This is HUGE! 2. Get ALL sauces on the side so you can choose what flavors you like 3. Ask for extra MAPLE SAUCE (that only comes with the Hangover burrito that I'm aware of but it's the BEST sauce they have - IMO). It's my FAVORITE sauce and the only one I really care for (other friends liked the spicy mayo). 4. If you like Avocado, add it. Where do I start. The service was absolutely abysmal, we ordered 2 Mule Burritos and 1 Bacon burrito. But we were served an Impossible burrito, a Cajun, and a Bacon Burrito didn't even go to the right person. The burritos were labeled wrong. And it gets even better I asked for them to remake it and I waited 30 minutes for them to remake it. After the 30 minutes I asked about my burrito and they hadn't even started making it.
