The most AMAZING French Restaurant EVER! The escargot is to die for. It is savory and perfectly seasoned with the most fabulous butter sauce. I was told the butter sauce has over 23 ingredients to make it taste so unique yet perfectly paired. I had never had escargot before and wasn't sure it was something I wanted to try but I am so glad I did! The French onion soup is the best I have tasted (sorry mom!). The soup is hearty and enough for a meal on its own especially for lunch! They have a lunch menu where prices are appealing and the dinner menu is definitely reasonable and worth the higher price for the quality of food you get. Reservations are usually a must and when the weather gets warmer take advantage of sitting outside. Inside you will find some nice jazz music and picking out your wine is a unique and fun experience! Bacquet's On 1/8/21, I and MW had dinner at Bacquet's in Eagle. For four hours, I felt as if I had been transported to France. It was a much needed respite from the past 10 months and left me feeling rejuvenated. As much as I love dining out, I've only had a handful of truly memorable meals. This was one of them. Everything about the evening, from the ambience/decor, to the food and service, was perfection. I ordered French Onion Soup ($15), House Green Salad ($8.50), and Saint Jacques au Saffron ($34.50). MW ordered a House Green Salad and Pork Gorgonzola ($29.50). We shared two desserts. I ordered Apple Tart For Two ($14.50); MW ordered Tuxedo Cake. I also ordered a Cherry Clafoutis ($8.50) to go. Bacquet's French Onion soup lives up to its description "The best you have never had in your life." It was worth every penny. I can't imagine ever visiting this restaurant and not ordering it. The House Salad was dressed with a balsamic vinaigrette. I don't normally care much for vinaigrettes but this one was exceptional. It is the best version of that salad dressing I've ever had. Saint Jacques au Saffron - four sea scallops, baked in the shell au gratin style, with a creamy saffron sauce and crusted Parmesan cheese. Served with a blended basmati and wild rice. I've always been on the fence about scallops. For such an expensive ingredient. they seemed bland and inconsequential. Not these. The delicious saffron sauce with a squeeze of lemon made this dish. Pork Gorgonzola- Pork tenderloin medallions, panseared and served with a divinely silky port wine and Gorgonzola blue cheese sauce. Served with roasted vegetables and baby potatoes. I tried a bite of this dish and it was delicious. Perfectly cooked and the sauce was amazing. Tuxedo Cake - white cake with layers of chocolate and white chocolate mousse, topped with chocolate ganache. This was a great cake. It wasn't too heavy and I liked that it was not overly sweet. Apple Tart - pastry with a custard and apple filling. This version was topped with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with caramel. Simply put, this is the best apple dessert I've ever had. Bacquet's does not have a wine list or sell it by the glass. Instead, they have a wine room of carefully curated bottles they invite you to visit, where they help you select a bottle perfectly suited for your taste and meal. I don't normally drink, so the experience of ordering wine in a restaurant was new to me. I purchased a bottle of Saracco Moscato d' Asti. It was lovely. MW purchased a bottle of Bouchard Pere & Fils Reserve Bourgogne Pinot Noir. I don't normally comment on the ambience of a restaurant because ultimately what I'm most interested in is the food. Visiting Bacquet's is simultaneously a very refined yet relaxed experience. You can dress up if you want, but it is not necessary. What is most important to the owners and staff is that you have a wonderful dining experience, and they go to great lengths to ensure that outcome. If you enjoy art, you're in for a treat because it is all around you. Owner/Chef Franck Bacquet is an artist. His work, including the murals, graces the walls. Bacquet's menu changes periodically, which is a plus in my book. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11:30 AM to 8 PM. They are for takeout and weekly meal specials. Every time my wife and I visit we've had nothing but the absolute best experience with service, quality of food and wine, and ambiance. Fresh seafood, abundant portions, rich and exotic flavors traditional to French cuisine, at a reasonable price. I've had the scallops appetizer each time and it's phenom. Everything here is made from scratch. We went on a Tuesday night when they have live music. The ambiance is very good although acoustics can make it slightly loud if there is a large party or the musicians are playing. Bacquet's restaurant, being French, supports their cuisine with a large selection of French wines from various appellations, particularly Burgundy or Bordeaux in both white and red. They have a wine bar where you can taste wines to narrow your selection by the glass or bottle. There is a tremendous amount of attention to detail in food handling, preparation, and cooking. We started off with appetizers of Lobster Bisque (a special) and Coquilles au Gratin (scallops). The scallops were outstanding and notably were not salty, which I find is a common mistake in most restaurants. The owners, who I spoke with take great care to minimize salt levels. The lobster bisque was a style that we had never tasted before. It had no cream, and came with intricately seasoned croutons. The bisque was a brown broth that had been seeped from the lobster body/shell for two days in a hot pot and was fortified with Sherry. However the lobster was added in chunks instead of being pureed. We did not particularly care for the overall taste and texture, which is unfortunate because the owner explained how lengthy the process was to create it. But I was glad to have experienced such a special dish. The warm french bread was soft on the inside with a hard crust outside and was delicious! I ordered the Sea Bass special which had a superb cream sauce with capers. It had some lemon in it but was done perfectly such that the ingredient complemented the sauce instead of overwhelming it. Again, the dish was not oversalted. The sea bass was never frozen and the quality was evident. The vegetables were steamed green beans and whole baby carrots that were soft and delicious, as well as a side of saffron rice. My wife had the Prawn Aglio e Olio, large tiger shrimp in a light oil sauce with wide, thin, pasta noodles and chili flakes. It was spicy and delicious and I would put it up against the best northern Italian restaurants. Portions were ample and the Prawn Aglio was a large serving. Pricing can get expensive for entrees here but ours were $39.50 and $32.50 respectively which I thought was good value for the quality received. I ordered a Burgundy Chardonnay which paired very well with my creamy Sea Bass, although it was not as buttery as some. My wife had a fine French Chenin Blanc which had a little sweetness and paired perfectly with the spicy Prawn Aglio. I really enjoyed the owners, who obviously took great pride in their work but come across as sincere, humble and pleasant hosts. This is a great venue for special occasions and they will cater events as well. I recommend that you try this one as it is unique in the Treasure Valley. read more

We had the good fortune to order up the pot roast dinner this last Wed. for takeout. What a treat of comfort food which included creamy mashed potatoes with great gravy, oven roasted carrots, salad and soup and Acme demi-baguettes. There was enough food for 4 dinners which we had over 2 nights and we used the salad and soup with rolls for a light meal one other evening. Now my wife, Judi, does a mean Portuguese pot roast, but we both said that this was the best pot roast we have tasted. We used one of our wines from our cellar. All I can saw is WOW! What a lovely place and beautiful experience we had at Bacquets tonight! My dad raved about the French onion soup and we also ordered the duck and a caprese salad. Added some bubbly and cote du Rhône! Wonderful service and friendly people! The only improvement I think could be in the butter that comes with the bread. I'm only saying this because French butter is so out of this world and by the quality of the food at this establishment I would picture more frenchy butter that what they offered. Just learned about this place recently and found all the odd reviews which made me even more interested in trying for myself. Well, my experience was that everything we had was incredible. Without a doubt the best meal I've had in Boise, and definitely up there overall. I grew up in NYC and have been all over Europe including France. There are many good restaurants and many good chefs. There are few great chefs and even fewer great restaurants. You have both here. The service is not really "fine dining" but personally I prefer it that way. Not stuffy at all, with just the right amount of engagement. I also like the personalized approach to wine selection. I don't know anything about wine, and our server assured me that wasn't important. Either way, I sent my fiancé to their wine library and Chef Franck recommended a bottle based on what we like. It was a hit. Yes it's on the pricey side but portions are huge and the dishes really are on another level. I have definitely spent more money for worse food and service many times. Wow! After seeing some recent reviews, I decided I should weigh in. We have dined at Bacquet regularly for about 5 years. We are accustomed to dining in a wide variety of restaurants worldwide. We love well-executed cuisine in any price range and have dined in everything from Michelin 3 star restaurants in France to street food in St. Petersburg, Russia (not recently, however). Needless-to-say, we're thrilled with the food scene in the Treasure Valley. Chef Franck and Michelle have played a significant role in our culinary odyssey here. For instance, last winter, my husband decided we should sample the entire lunch menu, so for about 3 months, we popped into Bacquet for a late lunch about every 10 days or so. Since we seldom dine out for lunch, it was a new and very delicious experience. In all my visits to this restaurant, I have never experienced the situation described in several recent 1-star reviews. We go in with the attitude that the food will be great and the servers will do their best. This is a small restaurant, and unexpected problems with staffing or deliveries can arise. People, we're all still trying to recover from 2+ years of chaos, and Bacquet has done a good job. In fact, they were one of the very best places for carryout all through the pandemic. Yes, we are regular customers and are recognized, but we also observe others and have NEVER encountered a situation like the one described in those few reviews. I have to think that is an outlier group of reviews from one party and I, personally, appreciate Michelle's defense of her staff. Waiting tables is hard, and your servers deserve respect. We had an opportunity to dine at Bacquet's tonight, and what a great experience we had! The owner greeted us, took us to our table, and within minutes brought a healthy assortment of food for our two year old granddaughter to eat and stay busy with. As for the adults we enjoyed a very nice wine, an excellent crispy seafood flatbread, and then our main meals consisting of Coquilles St Jacques and the special of an assortment of shellfish and pasta. Both dishes unbelievably good! All five adults left very satisfied. Our server, and the owner were top notch, focused on insuring all of us had an enjoyable evening. Their anticipation of our needs and fulfilling were done with no hesitation. I recommend this restaurant in Eagle to those who want an excellent meal, served by a top notch team. I make creme brûlée that people rave about and request again and again when I'm providing dessert for a dinner or event- so I'm pretty sure I know what good creme brûlée is supposed to be. Theirs was unremarkable and definitely a bit disappointing - a tad runny as well. I'm sure the owner will have some retort to my review. She always seems to find a way to defend and feel attacked. I was looking for a fancy place to take my mom for her 60th birthday and stumbled upon Bacquets. I was hoping to get her somewhat intoxicated so I wouldn't have to hear her ramble on about my brother and sister and how I need to find a good good church, so I was pleasantly surprised when We arrived on a snowy Sunday afternoon and the first thing the waitress did was offer us champagne. I answered for my mom and said yes, as for me I stuck with hot tea since I am just about 5 months pregnant. The ambiance is really nice when you walk in you will feel like you're in a French courtyard with twinkle lights and a classy feel. The lunch specials are from tues-Sunday till 4pm which is always a nice touch. Our server was amazing. She was informative, attentive and dealt with my moms oh so awkward over friendliness. We ended up ordering 2 appetizers and 1 dinner and 1 lunch special. For appetizers we ordered the caprese tower and truffle raviolis. The caprese tower was dive with light yet rich flavors and fresh mozzarella. The raviolis and the meals we ordered were sadly not as good, however It may have been an off day since I noticed the same overly salted flavor in all 3 of the sub par dishes. If you saw Eater magazine's 25 Essential Restaurants in Boise, this place is like Petite 4's older, more traditional cousin. However, you can actually get a table in this place, because it's not the size of a shoebox. Why this place isn't also on the list of the 25 essential restaurants, but an ice cream shop and a bar that doesn't serve food are on the list is just beyond me. In any case, this is one is on my shortlist in Idaho I would go for food with a french twist, along with Petite 4. I've been here twice now. The food here is quite exceptional, prepared with care and love, and the Chef has high-standards. I appreciate that he'd rather send back a bad cut of beef to where he bought it and 86 it from the menu for a week, rather than have something sub-par go out the table. The menu is very much French-inspired but has a nouveau twist and other entrees for people who don't like their food heavily sauced. That being said, this restaurant runs more towards the traditional on saucing and preparation. The menu focuses on fewer items done well, but that being said I don't think anyone will be at a lack for choices or disappointed with their meals. The other thing I absolutely love about this restaurant is that it takes its wines seriously. In the Treasure Valley, the only restaurants that seem to understand their wines are this one and Fork. Here, rather than having a separate Sommelier like Fork, they seem to spend a lot of time educating all the servers on what wines they are featuring. That's a welcome change that I wish more restaurants would adopt. The atmosphere is a little cluttered, but cute. They sometimes feature live music. The Chef is a bit of a character and likes to come out and mingle with the guests, making sure everything is okay. This restaurant is the perfect venue to impress a date. read more
