Took a visiting family member out for dinner for an early Christmas celebration and we were all in for a great evening of food, wine, and tableside treatment you will not get from any other place around. We took my uncle, who has been all over the World, and used to live in Europe. I knew this would be a pleaser and it did not disappoint. Chef recommended the French onion soup, and we did. My uncle said it was the best he had ever had. That is saying a lot. We also had the escargot. Oh, man, it was to die for. Great presentation with all the tools of the eating trade to get them out. Lovely garlic an butter sauce. Even my picky son liked them. I was also escorted back to the wine area to pick a wine that complemented our meals. The chef also helped here. He didn't upsell me on something I was not comfortable buying, but did give options. We settled on a nice red. All of us enjoyed our meals, the ambiance is pretty nice, and the service was outstanding. I have been a few times now, and I have never been disappointed. I had read an article about the chef and had been dying to try it out. It definitely lived up to the authentic French charm I had read. The waiter was very knowledgeable, formal, and I loved how he took us back to the bistro to try their selection of wines before dinner. The food was exquisite; from the beautiful presentation to the taste. My husband had the prawns and I had the rack of lamb. The prawns were so beautiful in their shells and my husband enjoyed every last drop of the buttery sauce they came in. The lamb was so tender and the perfect flavor and complemented so nicely with the veggies and potatoes. The crème brûlée was the perfect touch to end the meal. Okay. My wife suggested I do this because to be honest I normally wouldn't. We dined at Bacquet today and saw a table of a larger party being very rudely mistreated by the owners wife. This was our first time in and I've read her review and I have to say, we were very uncomfortable watching the way the owner behaved. The young lady and her family were very shocked and I felt embarrassed for them. And who cares if they are from California, my wife and her family are from there and to hear that from the owner- yikes. Food was pretty okay but we have a bad taste over the management. read more

Today is Thursday May 14 and Yelp HQ is encouraging Yelp Elites to write Thankful Thursday notes for businesses about which we have been thankful during this covid19 period. My first thought of a business that deserves praise is Bacquet's. Although my 5-Star worthy applause here is redundant given the multiple reviews I've written since my hubby and I first discovered Bacquet's to share about their ongoing excellence so more and more people might have the chance to experience it for themselves. But in particular during this challenging time for all of us during the roughly 8 weeks of Idaho "stay home" orders that also shut restaurants for in-house dining, we so appreciate how Chef Franck Bacquet and his wife and partner Michele, have kept offering excellent to go fare, introduced a daily "family meal" (Tues - Sat), have offered easy no contact pick up in the parking lot and even home delivery to a limited area by their delightful staff...and one night when we needed it we were grateful they provided delivery...and taken care of their staff to keep them safely employed. Ironically, although we didn't know at the time that our dining-in meal at Bacquet's on Sunday March 15 would be our "last supper" out, turns out it was because the next day relying on data and CDC advisory, we stopped eating out as personal choice while we watched things unfold (we follow science data) and then on March 25 the Governor's orders made that impossible to do. I can't think of a better place for us to have had our "last supper" than Bacquet's. It has been our 'go to' of choice for about 85% of our take-away meals during this pandemic period and it has nourished body and spirit to have the excellent meals and warm hospitality - even when order by phone and deliver to car is the modality. We also admire that they are following the Governor's directives and are not jumping the gun on re-opening as some in their industry are so they are showing respect both for governance and for their colleagues in this business. We also admire them for helping people in the community. As example, during this shut down period they started offering for sale at the restaurant things that folks in the community may have had trouble finding in stores, especially early on, like flour, yeast, eggs, chicken and other things becoming a sort of "corner store" for local folks who needed a resource. Since my husband and I follow the science data closely we know we are in a demographic that has been urged by scientists to continue to be cautious in making our choices of where we go as things re-open. And as things reopen, Bacquet's will be one of those places we trust to do the right things for all their customers who dine there in the "new normal" just as they always have in all times. read more

This is by far our new favorite restaurant in Boise area!! My husband and I went here for a date night last week for the first time and want to go back asap! First off, the ambiance is great! We sat outside by a fountain and were surrounded by beautiful greenery. The inside was super cute as well. The service was impeccable and our food was excellent! We shared the seafood pasta which was absolutely delicious. The waiter recommended a wine to us which did not disappoint :) I have already told several friends about this spot who are looking to go soon and we will be taking my in-laws here when they are in town next month. Highly recommend! I should also note we are both very particular about seafood and my husband normally doesn't like mussels but he ate all of them in the seafood pasta because they were that good. read more

Went back for more! This this time I tried the Orange Duck, very good (I had to overcome the guilt of eating such beautiful creatures!), served with mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. I was able to make it to dessert this time, and I had to try the Chocolate Mousse, it was excellent! I have been disappointed by so many chocolate mousses that were either too heavy, too sweet, or more like a pudding than a mousse. I took a friend for a birthday lunch and it was lovely. We ate outside... it was lunch!! My friend had quiche and salad. Excellent on all fronts from her view. I had the ocean flatbread at our waiter's recommendation. Oh, my!! It was wonderful!! We also had white wine which did not disappoint, recommended by our waiter. Wow.. this Restaurant is versatile, unique, classy, musical, artistic, and has incredible food. The amazing proprietors, Franck and Michelle, are very guest focused. They create an experience that I have not found locally. They are personable and willing to make accommodations for large groups as well. The most AMAZING French Restaurant EVER! The escargot is to die for. It is savory and perfectly seasoned with the most fabulous butter sauce. I was told the butter sauce has over 23 ingredients to make it taste so unique yet perfectly paired. I had never had escargot before and wasn't sure it was something I wanted to try but I am so glad I did! The French onion soup is the best I have tasted (sorry mom!). The soup is hearty and enough for a meal on its own especially for lunch! They have a lunch menu where prices are appealing and the dinner menu is definitely reasonable and worth the higher price for the quality of food you get. Reservations are usually a must and when the weather gets warmer take advantage of sitting outside. Inside you will find some nice jazz music and picking out your wine is a unique and fun experience! Bacquet's is indisputably one of the Treasure Valley's finer restaurants. Our area falls so short on high-end eateries. The lengths Bacquet's goes to deliver exquisite cuisine in an upscale fashion is not only appreciated but respected. Let's get down to business: My husband and I began our luxurious evening with a bottle of 2016 Chateau Blaignan Médoc ($48.00 a bottle, 55% Cabernet Sauvignon & 45% Merlot). I've only recently jumped on the Red Blend bandwagon (YES that's a thing), so my judgement is soft for now. But I can say I did enjoy each sip and the extra bite of flavor it provided. For appetizers, my husband ordered the French Onion Soup ($15.00). The menu accurately describes it as the "best you have never had in your life." The soup itself came covered by a thick layer of cheese that delivered an oh-so-freaking-satisfying cheese pulls. The taste was fantastic! A lot of flavor but not too onion-y. By far, best version of this soup I have ever had in my life. My adventurous self ordered the Escargot de ma Grand-Mere ($15.00), a Bacquet family recipe. Who knew snails could be so delectable! These were every bit as good as Escargot I've eaten in France and Germany. Truly authentic and a treat you can find this here in Boise. Moving along, we were getting full so agreed to share the Jambalaya (large black tiger prawns, andouille sausage, chicken, fresh vegetables sautéed in a deep, rich sauce with a piece of creole spices. Served with a blend of basmati and wild rice, $34.50). This dish fell a little short of my liking. I really haven't eaten much Creole food so I don't feel qualified to criticize it, but this just wasn't for me. There wasn't a lot of flavor, a couple drops of hot sauce could have amplified it. I personally would not order this dish again, however I wouldn't NOT recommend it because to the more experienced tongue this might be it! Their menu is full of other delicious European dishes. Also, someone remind me to go easy with the appetizers because I really wanted to try some dessert but was way to stuffed. Our total before tipping came too $115.00. If you know fine dining, then you agree is a hell of a deal for a high-end experience. Not to mention the white-glove service is on point! Neither of us had to refill our own glasses of wine. Wonderful servers with fantastic training. Thank you Bacquet's for bringing fine-dining to the Treasure Valley! How someone could not rate this fine dining establishment a 5 is beyond me. Every time my wife and I visit we've had nothing but the absolute best experience with service, quality of food and wine, and ambiance. Fresh seafood, abundant portions, rich and exotic flavors traditional to French cuisine, at a reasonable price. I've had the scallops appetizer each time and it's phenom. Wine is exceptional to compliment the meal and we share as much as possible to help keep this restaurant thriving. We recently had the Paella (Bacquet's version) and a surf and turf special. Bacquet's On 1/8/21, I and MW had dinner at Bacquet's in Eagle. For four hours, I felt as if I had been transported to France. It was a much needed respite from the past 10 months and left me feeling rejuvenated. As much as I love dining out, I've only had a handful of truly memorable meals. This was one of them. Everything about the evening, from the ambience/decor, to the food and service, was perfection. I ordered French Onion Soup ($15), House Green Salad ($8.50), and Saint Jacques au Saffron ($34.50). MW ordered a House Green Salad and Pork Gorgonzola ($29.50). We shared two desserts. I ordered Apple Tart For Two ($14.50); MW ordered Tuxedo Cake. I also ordered a Cherry Clafoutis ($8.50) to go. Bacquet's French Onion soup lives up to its description "The best you have never had in your life." It was worth every penny. I can't imagine ever visiting this restaurant and not ordering it. The House Salad was dressed with a balsamic vinaigrette. I don't normally care much for vinaigrettes but this one was exceptional. It is the best version of that salad dressing I've ever had. Saint Jacques au Saffron - four sea scallops, baked in the shell au gratin style, with a creamy saffron sauce and crusted Parmesan cheese. Served with a blended basmati and wild rice. I've always been on the fence about scallops. For such an expensive ingredient. they seemed bland and inconsequential. Not these. The delicious saffron sauce with a squeeze of lemon made this dish. Pork Gorgonzola- Pork tenderloin medallions, panseared and served with a divinely silky port wine and Gorgonzola blue cheese sauce. Served with roasted vegetables and baby potatoes. I tried a bite of this dish and it was delicious. Perfectly cooked and the sauce was amazing. Tuxedo Cake - white cake with layers of chocolate and white chocolate mousse, topped with chocolate ganache. This was a great cake. It wasn't too heavy and I liked that it was not overly sweet. Apple Tart - pastry with a custard and apple filling. This version was topped with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with caramel. Simply put, this is the best apple dessert I've ever had. Bacquet's does not have a wine list or sell it by the glass. Instead, they have a wine room of carefully curated bottles they invite you to visit, where they help you select a bottle perfectly suited for your taste and meal. I don't normally drink, so the experience of ordering wine in a restaurant was new to me. I purchased a bottle of Saracco Moscato d' Asti. It was lovely. MW purchased a bottle of Bouchard Pere & Fils Reserve Bourgogne Pinot Noir. I don't normally comment on the ambience of a restaurant because ultimately what I'm most interested in is the food. Visiting Bacquet's is simultaneously a very refined yet relaxed experience. You can dress up if you want, but it is not necessary. What is most important to the owners and staff is that you have a wonderful dining experience, and they go to great lengths to ensure that outcome. If you enjoy art, you're in for a treat because it is all around you. Owner/Chef Franck Bacquet is an artist. His work, including the murals, graces the walls. Bacquet's menu changes periodically, which is a plus in my book. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11:30 AM to 8 PM. They are for takeout and weekly meal specials.
