Azure Cafe is such a hidden gem in Austin. It is a true local, family-owned small business, and that really shows in every part of the experience. The food quality is absolutely top-notch, and you can tell the owner puts so much care, thought, and attention into every dish. The menu has a wide variety of options, including lots of creative fusion dishes, and everything we tried was executed beautifully. We were honestly blown away by both the quality and the portion sizes. The drinks and bingsu were also fantastic, and the prices were very reasonable for how much care and quality you get. What made the experience even more special was how friendly and welcoming the owner was. He came out to introduce himself, talked with us about the food, and kindly asked for our thoughts and feedback. You can immediately tell he is passionate about his work and genuinely cares about his customers. That kind of warmth and sincerity makes a huge difference and makes the whole dining experience feel even more personal. This is the kind of place that leaves a lasting impression. We will definitely be coming back again and again to try more of the menu. **To other small, family-owned restaurant owners: this is how it is done right. Even if you are running a small operation, customers absolutely notice the details, effort, and heart you put into your food and service.**

Really good chicken katsu don. They did the egg, katsu, and onion rice just right. I also liked the pickled veggies a lot. Their miso soup was also really good (came with the katsu don). It has a nice onion aftertaste. Thai tea was perfect. I got half sweetness and it was one of the best Thai teas I've had in Austin. They also have Bingsu shaved ice there. First time I've tried it. The mango was good and the bobos / mochi with it were flavorful. They have big portions I was glad I got a medium size. Service was great. Their a/c was out so they offered 20% off for dine in which was nice and they gave me a free chilled bottle of water which was very thoughtful. They also got the food out very quickly. I'll definitely be back for more katsu and to try out the rest of their menu.

Got it delivered and it travelled okay enough! I'll err on the side of it's better in store. Chicken karaage had good flavor and the fish katsu banh mi was a fun switch up from the usual order. Loved the lychee soda!

Rating: 4.7/5 [dine in] Azure is a small spot serving Asian fusion food that really impressed us. Everything we tried was well done and made us excited to come back and order more next time. Portions felt thoughtful and balanced, and the dishes came out looking just like the photos. The service stood out because they genuinely cared about our experience and asked for honest feedback. Bottled water was also provided, which we appreciated. Pho Tom Kha ($16.99) + Beef ($2): This was the dish I was most excited about, and it did not disappoint. The portion was huge with a generous amount of broth that was flavorful without being heavy. The tom kha wasn't overly sour at first, though it became more tangy the next day. The rice noodles and beef were cooked just like traditional pho, which we appreciated. Pork Belly & Shrimp Banh Xeo Tacos ($12.99): Came with three decently sized tacos. I was expecting smaller versions of a traditional banh xeo with nuoc mam on the side, but instead they came with a green dipping sauce and additional green sauce already on the tacos. There was plenty of flavor on its own, so the dipping sauce wasn't necessary. The banh xeo was very crispy, giving a satisfying crunch with every bite. Delicious overall, though it would be great to see a more authentic Vietnamese version offered as well. Grilled Pork Crispy Rice Bowl ($12.99): I don't know how they did it, but the crispy shell holding the rice bowl stayed crunchy and didn't get soggy. It added a fun texture and elevated the dish. The pork itself was a bit dry and not very flavorful. My husband agreed it was dry but still enjoyed the flavor. The rice was similar to Japanese rice, which we loved. Extra Shrimp Katsu ($4.75): Came with three pieces. The shrimp katsu was a bit flat, but the breading was tasty. It was much better when dipped in sauce. Black Sesame Hojicha ($7.99) + Oat Milk ($0.50): We ordered it without whipped cream to avoid dairy. It's on the pricier side, but very good. You can clearly taste both the black sesame and hojicha, and the flavors were well balanced. We'll definitely be back to try their banh mi, chicken karaage, and matcha.

Very cute place! Great food & great customer service!!

Great food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. I'll definitely be coming back!

This totally unassuming Vietnamese joint has some of the best banh mi in Austin. Owned by a husband and wife duo, you can tell that they love why they do. We love the sandwiches, and the drinks--the tiramisu Vietnamese coffee and the mango refresher, YUM--are KILLER. Also, don't miss the bingsu for desert! Located in a little office park/strip mall, Azure may not look like much from the outside, but the food is well worth your time and money.

Azure is a great little cafe. It's north of 183 on Lamar. If I'm having a hard time deciding on a place to eat, Azure has come up as a possible default option. Their menu is pretty diverse. You go in, place your order on the kiosk, and then enter the table at which you'd like to sit at. They have cool neon signs hanging around on the walls. The bathroom down the hall past the curtains is clean. Once you place your order and sit down, they'll bring over bottled water to you. Your food will then come out after a bit. However, you'll have to grab your own plates, utensils, chopsticks, and napkins from the table. If you need to customize your order, talk with one of the staff members or the chef, and they'll let you know if they can accommodate. For example, noodle types can be swapped for certain dishes to establish a gluten-free version. Some of the dishes I've had before: Spring Rolls -- herbs, shrimp, vermicelli, cucumber, purple cabbage, and crunchy stick. I really like these spring rolls. Tom Kha -- savory broth, nice warm spiciness, plenty of yum. This has been reordered multiple times. Vermicelli Bowl -- assorted veggies, and pickled items, surrounding vermicelli, topped with a meat, eggroll Gyoza -- clearly deep fried so that all the skin puffs and is browned, but it works. Katsu -- rice, curry, panko breaded meat. I've ordered it once, and will probably order again. Karaage Chicken -- light crunch, nice sauce. Shaved Ice -- taro blueberry. I was pleasantly surprised with this one. It comes with little gummy jellies. Tea Latte -- the hojicha black sesame one has a good sesame flavor. Sweetness is adjustable. The taro one is also nice. Flavored Sodas -- the strawberry matcha coconut water one (matcha cloud) is a good combination. They also use real in their sodas, e.g. lychee soda

Went back and tried to the Black Sesame coffee and it was a 10 outta 10. I have to say Azure is becoming one of my favorite places for GOOD - STRONG VIETNAMESE coffee. The black sesame cream was so good and went well with the coffee.

We visited this restaurant on a Friday evening, and it's found in a shopping plaza. You self-order at the kiosk to either dine-in or do take-out. We ate at the restaurant and it was nice and clean. The food is good, but nothing spectacular or unique. The chicken karage was delicious! Nice crunch with a yummy dipping sauce. I was expecting the grilled pork bahn mi to be the closest thing to a traditional bahn mi sandwich - mine didn't come with any pate. It was pretty basic and didn't seem worth the cost. The beef teriyaki plate was well prepared and came with a salad with a variety of flavors. Caution: price listed for this on the online website differs from the price on the kiosk. I was happy with the food overall, but thought the prices were on the higher side. I think other restaurants do a better job on food with more affordable pricing. Additionally, this is a very self-service restaurant. You order your own food, grab your own utensils and condiments, and can bus your own table. Great place for a quick meal!

Very good experience. The food is a tad bit more expensive than your normal lunch place but the quality is very good and the attention to detail is solid. I got the fiery chicken bowl and the katsu udon. The fiery chicken bowl is a 10/10 BUT also very very spicy. They used cut up thai chilis or something because it's a heat that sneaks up quickly. It's also beautifully plated and put together. Katsu udon was solid, very great fry on the meat and the udon itself had some lemon zest which was a phenomenal ideal because it helped make the meal more interesting and decreased the flavor fatigue I usually get with katsu udon. This is definitely a place I would return back to because I want to try their drinks and desserts. I also think the food is so good I would bring people from out of town here. Not necessarily the best place to study because there aren't many outlets and all the outlets are used by their neon signs but I asked to unplug one temporarily and they let me sooo...

Looking for healthy food, I found Azure on Yelp! I was so happy to have found healthy Asian food in Austin! Walking into the restaurant, it is clean and unassuming. I ordered from the kiosk and was super happy with my som tum because it was fresh and tasty with extra chips on the side which was a nice touch! The service was impeccable and super attentive to all of my needs. I can't wait to try something different next time.

I'm always amazed by Azure's creativity--they keep rolling out new items. I absolutely love their soft-shell crab with shrimp crackers. The shrimp crackers are crunchy, flavorful, and not greasy at all. The rice cracker bowl is stunning; I'm guessing they fry the same rice paper typically used for spring rolls. My husband ordered the Bánh Xèo, a Vietnamese-style taco-like dish. The crust contains wheat, so I didn't try it due to my gluten sensitivity, but I still enjoyed seeing how inventive the dish was. Speaking of gluten sensitivity, when Mike knows I'm avoiding gluten, he always adapts the recipes for me. I usually don't order items that clearly contain gluten, such as udon or bánh mì. Even so, when a sauce includes wheat--like the peanut sauce--Mike will switch it to fish sauce without me even asking. There are many thoughtful touches like this from their team. I truly appreciate that level of care. It goes beyond what any star rating can capture. May the Force be with Azure.

    Earl Grey Matcha Latte
    Briana N.

Even looking at the menu beforehand, I was so excited to try Azure! Their food options looked really good, and their drinks looked even better! We got Miso soup - this was accidentally brought to our table and we drank it without realizing it didn't come with our entrees, but it was so good! The broth was simultaneously rich without being too heavy, and was a great appetizer. Earl grey matcha latte - I loved this drink! I finished the whole thing so quickly. But also disclaimer that it is on the sweeter side. The Earl grey flavor really shines through, and the matcha is more muted. But it pairs together so well. Tom kha pho - I love tom kha, so I was super excited to try this too. The broth was a really even blend of tom kha and pho, although I wish it was a little more acidic, whether that be through lemongrass or fish sauce. Creamy udon - This dish was also so good! I really appreciated it not being as salty as I expected just because it's already a heavier dish. The chicken katsu was so crispy, but the meat was still pretty tender. I do wish there was some type of sauce on the chicken. But they have a little sauce bar on the side so I just used that. I'm sure you can also just dip it into the creamy udon sauce, but I expected some type of tonkatsu sauce or something. Corn croffle - This might be my favorite of everything we tried today. The croffle part was kind of more dense than I expected, but I kind of liked it. The cream on top was so light, that it was nice to have something with more of a chew to it. And speaking of the cream, it was super light and wasn't overly sweet. It was a very subtle sweetness that really allowed the natural sweetness of the corn to shine through. And the corn flavor was so strong, but in a really good way. The prices aren't too bad, and the workers are so friendly. We actually got the croffle because they were taking some pictures for their menu. And they allowed us to sample it once they were done! The owner(?) was really nice too, coming around to make sure everything was ok. The only thing is I wouldn't really recommend coming here to work. I had called beforehand to make sure they had wifi, which they said they did. But when I came, the guest wifi didn't really work. When I told the workers, they tried to give me access to the non guest wifi, but that didn't let me in either.

The banh mi was a bit small and didn't have a lot of stuffing, and the bread didn't seem toasted. The grilled pork was good but I think it worked better in the vermicelli bowl than in the sandwich. They're a food group on their own. You have to, no you MUST get their yams. They're just epic. I'm already thinking about my next visit to Whip My Soul.

Food was excellent and the place was decently clean. The chicken wings, shrimp, pork chop, black…read moreeyed peas and yams were delicious and perfectly cooked. The greens were tasty but over cooked. I also feel the same way about the cheesy grits. Great in flavor but they had the texture of a porridge rather than a grit. The texture was very smooth, almost thin and slimy and not gritty like your typical grits should be. I asked to exchange the grits for the yams since I did not care for them. That request was honored but not without giving me a full and un-welcoming disclaimer about how they don't typically do that. Even made me get up and go across the room to the window to tell me this. When the server lady could have simply brought it to me. Other than, I would have given his place 5 stars even with my not caring for the greens and grits.

We decorated all of them with the brussels sprouts, being the favorite. For main course, we had crispy chicken thighs, Wagyu cheeseburger, and chicken and rabbit Mole. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. We finished with banana fosters Beignets. Plenty for 5 of us to share. Will definitely come back

We were excited to try the food, and were hungry. Our server appeared (I can't remember his name but he was a short guy with blond hair). I ordered a cocktail and my husband ordered beer to begin with. He went away and then came back asking my husband if he wanted some whiskey cocktail, and we corrected him that we had asked for a particular beer. No big deal. We then ordered the deviled eggs and shishito peppers, and the red fish and short ribs for entree. A lady brought us the drinks, and the deviled eggs. Our server swung by and then disappeared. We thought the shishito peppers were on their way. We waited for what seemed like a really long time and still no shishito peppers. We also noticed that each table had a carafe of water except ours. We were just given water once, and then our server never bothered to fill the water up. Anyway, we kept waiting since there was no sign of the server. At this point, we felt he might have forgotten the second appetizer and we just did not want it, but he was nowhere to be found. A man (not our server) brought out our entrees. We then told him that we had been waiting for our second appetizer and would just want to cancel it. We asked if we could get the biscuits instead. He brought out the biscuits within a few minutes. Now this is where it really annoyed us. Had our server just come over and said he had forgotten our shishito peppers, it would have been okay. Human. What he tried was act smart and dropped by saying the shishito peppers would be out to which we said that we didn't want an appetizer after an entree and had cancelled it. I almost felt like he was treating us as if he thought we don't really dine out or whatever and he could just make fools of us. This really didn't sit right with me. We asked him for water and he filled it up left. The food was above average. The short ribs were good but my red fish had been hammered! The biscuits were good. The deviled eggs were good as well. Anyway, we finished our meal, and got the check, paid, and were waiting to finish our drinks. The receipt was on our table. Also, note, it was not a particularly busy day with several empty tables. What our server did next was absolutely unacceptable. I think he wanted to see if we had tipped him after his awful service. We did, but not 20% as we always do because of the soddy job he did, not to mention his attitude. We paid 15% which I think was more than what he deserved now. Out of nowhere, and mind you, after being absent for long periods before, he just came by, grabbed the paid up bill from our table to our shock, while we were still sitting and talking, looked at the bill, turned towards us, and muttered something angry under his breath and walked away. I have never seen this level of entitlement and bad behavior. We left right away. We had been really looking forward to this meal but I would not want to go back. The food was good, but not great, and I would not want to put up with such obnoxious behavior as a paying customer.
