    Fish katsu banh mi
    Mariel T.

Got it delivered and it travelled okay enough! I'll err on the side of it's better in store. Chicken karaage had good flavor and the fish katsu banh mi was a fun switch up from the usual order. Loved the lychee soda!

Rating: 4.7/5 [dine in] Azure is a small spot serving Asian fusion food that really impressed us. Everything we tried was well done and made us excited to come back and order more next time. Portions felt thoughtful and balanced, and the dishes came out looking just like the photos. The service stood out because they genuinely cared about our experience and asked for honest feedback. Bottled water was also provided, which we appreciated. Pho Tom Kha ($16.99) + Beef ($2): This was the dish I was most excited about, and it did not disappoint. The portion was huge with a generous amount of broth that was flavorful without being heavy. The tom kha wasn't overly sour at first, though it became more tangy the next day. The rice noodles and beef were cooked just like traditional pho, which we appreciated. Pork Belly & Shrimp Banh Xeo Tacos ($12.99): Came with three decently sized tacos. I was expecting smaller versions of a traditional banh xeo with nuoc mam on the side, but instead they came with a green dipping sauce and additional green sauce already on the tacos. There was plenty of flavor on its own, so the dipping sauce wasn't necessary. The banh xeo was very crispy, giving a satisfying crunch with every bite. Delicious overall, though it would be great to see a more authentic Vietnamese version offered as well. Grilled Pork Crispy Rice Bowl ($12.99): I don't know how they did it, but the crispy shell holding the rice bowl stayed crunchy and didn't get soggy. It added a fun texture and elevated the dish. The pork itself was a bit dry and not very flavorful. My husband agreed it was dry but still enjoyed the flavor. The rice was similar to Japanese rice, which we loved. Extra Shrimp Katsu ($4.75): Came with three pieces. The shrimp katsu was a bit flat, but the breading was tasty. It was much better when dipped in sauce. Black Sesame Hojicha ($7.99) + Oat Milk ($0.50): We ordered it without whipped cream to avoid dairy. It's on the pricier side, but very good. You can clearly taste both the black sesame and hojicha, and the flavors were well balanced. We'll definitely be back to try their banh mi, chicken karaage, and matcha.

Went back and tried to the Black Sesame coffee and it was a 10 outta 10. I have to say Azure is becoming one of my favorite places for GOOD - STRONG VIETNAMESE coffee. The black sesame cream was so good and went well with the coffee.

Azure is a great little cafe. It's north of 183 on Lamar. If I'm having a hard time deciding on a place to eat, Azure has come up as a possible default option. Their menu is pretty diverse. You go in, place your order on the kiosk, and then enter the table at which you'd like to sit at. They have cool neon signs hanging around on the walls. The bathroom down the hall past the curtains is clean. Once you place your order and sit down, they'll bring over bottled water to you. Your food will then come out after a bit. However, you'll have to grab your own plates, utensils, chopsticks, and napkins from the table. If you need to customize your order, talk with one of the staff members or the chef, and they'll let you know if they can accommodate. For example, noodle types can be swapped for certain dishes to establish a gluten-free version. Some of the dishes I've had before: Spring Rolls -- herbs, shrimp, vermicelli, cucumber, purple cabbage, and crunchy stick. I really like these spring rolls. Tom Kha -- savory broth, nice warm spiciness, plenty of yum. This has been reordered multiple times. Vermicelli Bowl -- assorted veggies, and pickled items, surrounding vermicelli, topped with a meat, eggroll Gyoza -- clearly deep fried so that all the skin puffs and is browned, but it works. Katsu -- rice, curry, panko breaded meat. I've ordered it once, and will probably order again. Karaage Chicken -- light crunch, nice sauce. Shaved Ice -- taro blueberry. I was pleasantly surprised with this one. It comes with little gummy jellies. Tea Latte -- the hojicha black sesame one has a good sesame flavor. Sweetness is adjustable. The taro one is also nice. Flavored Sodas -- the strawberry matcha coconut water one (matcha cloud) is a good combination. They also use real in their sodas, e.g. lychee soda

Looking for healthy food, I found Azure on Yelp! I was so happy to have found healthy Asian food in Austin! Walking into the restaurant, it is clean and unassuming. I ordered from the kiosk and was super happy with my som tum because it was fresh and tasty with extra chips on the side which was a nice touch! The service was impeccable and super attentive to all of my needs. I can't wait to try something different next time.

    Beef Teriyaki Plate

We visited this restaurant on a Friday evening, and it's found in a shopping plaza. You self-order at the kiosk to either dine-in or do take-out. We ate at the restaurant and it was nice and clean. The food is good, but nothing spectacular or unique. The chicken karage was delicious! Nice crunch with a yummy dipping sauce. I was expecting the grilled pork bahn mi to be the closest thing to a traditional bahn mi sandwich - mine didn't come with any pate. It was pretty basic and didn't seem worth the cost. The beef teriyaki plate was well prepared and came with a salad with a variety of flavors. Caution: price listed for this on the online website differs from the price on the kiosk. I was happy with the food overall, but thought the prices were on the higher side. I think other restaurants do a better job on food with more affordable pricing. Additionally, this is a very self-service restaurant. You order your own food, grab your own utensils and condiments, and can bus your own table. Great place for a quick meal!

    katsu udon

Very good experience. The food is a tad bit more expensive than your normal lunch place but the quality is very good and the attention to detail is solid. I got the fiery chicken bowl and the katsu udon. The fiery chicken bowl is a 10/10 BUT also very very spicy. They used cut up thai chilis or something because it's a heat that sneaks up quickly. It's also beautifully plated and put together. Katsu udon was solid, very great fry on the meat and the udon itself had some lemon zest which was a phenomenal ideal because it helped make the meal more interesting and decreased the flavor fatigue I usually get with katsu udon. This is definitely a place I would return back to because I want to try their drinks and desserts. I also think the food is so good I would bring people from out of town here. Not necessarily the best place to study because there aren't many outlets and all the outlets are used by their neon signs but I asked to unplug one temporarily and they let me sooo...

I'm always amazed by Azure's creativity--they keep rolling out new items. I absolutely love their soft-shell crab with shrimp crackers. The shrimp crackers are crunchy, flavorful, and not greasy at all. The rice cracker bowl is stunning; I'm guessing they fry the same rice paper typically used for spring rolls. My husband ordered the Bánh Xèo, a Vietnamese-style taco-like dish. The crust contains wheat, so I didn't try it due to my gluten sensitivity, but I still enjoyed seeing how inventive the dish was. Speaking of gluten sensitivity, when Mike knows I'm avoiding gluten, he always adapts the recipes for me. I usually don't order items that clearly contain gluten, such as udon or bánh mì. Even so, when a sauce includes wheat--like the peanut sauce--Mike will switch it to fish sauce without me even asking. There are many thoughtful touches like this from their team. I truly appreciate that level of care. It goes beyond what any star rating can capture. May the Force be with Azure.

    Earl Grey Matcha Latte

Even looking at the menu beforehand, I was so excited to try Azure! Their food options looked really good, and their drinks looked even better! We got Miso soup - this was accidentally brought to our table and we drank it without realizing it didn't come with our entrees, but it was so good! The broth was simultaneously rich without being too heavy, and was a great appetizer. Earl grey matcha latte - I loved this drink! I finished the whole thing so quickly. But also disclaimer that it is on the sweeter side. The Earl grey flavor really shines through, and the matcha is more muted. But it pairs together so well. Tom kha pho - I love tom kha, so I was super excited to try this too. The broth was a really even blend of tom kha and pho, although I wish it was a little more acidic, whether that be through lemongrass or fish sauce. Creamy udon - This dish was also so good! I really appreciated it not being as salty as I expected just because it's already a heavier dish. The chicken katsu was so crispy, but the meat was still pretty tender. I do wish there was some type of sauce on the chicken. But they have a little sauce bar on the side so I just used that. I'm sure you can also just dip it into the creamy udon sauce, but I expected some type of tonkatsu sauce or something. Corn croffle - This might be my favorite of everything we tried today. The croffle part was kind of more dense than I expected, but I kind of liked it. The cream on top was so light, that it was nice to have something with more of a chew to it. And speaking of the cream, it was super light and wasn't overly sweet. It was a very subtle sweetness that really allowed the natural sweetness of the corn to shine through. And the corn flavor was so strong, but in a really good way. The prices aren't too bad, and the workers are so friendly. We actually got the croffle because they were taking some pictures for their menu. And they allowed us to sample it once they were done! The owner(?) was really nice too, coming around to make sure everything was ok. The only thing is I wouldn't really recommend coming here to work. I had called beforehand to make sure they had wifi, which they said they did. But when I came, the guest wifi didn't really work. When I told the workers, they tried to give me access to the non guest wifi, but that didn't let me in either.

Came here for a weeknight dinner and really enjoyed it! The food came out fast and was solid all around. The menu has a nice variety with Vietnamese coffees, croissant waffles for dessert, and a mix of Vietnamese and Japanese dishes. I loved the croissant waffles and the food was solid.

    Chicken Katsu Curry
    Joel L.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, guiding me through the menu and selection process. Upon being seated, you're greeted with a bottle of water, though service beyond that is mostly self-serve. The coffee was exactly what I expected, rich and more dessert-like than traditional coffee. Depending on your order, you may receive a miso soup (all rice dishes include one). Interestingly, the miso soup stood out as my favorite part of the meal. While the chicken katsu curry was solid, it didn't particularly stand out compared to similar dishes elsewhere. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. While I may not rush back, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to someone looking to try the spot for the first time.

Azure is a bit of hidden gem right now, located a mile north of the 99 Ranch plaza. Tried a few of their drinks, croffles and savory entrees and everything has been a hit! They offer a good variety of lattes, viet style coffees, and mixed lemonade drinks. I'm a fan of the hojicha latte since not many places carry it and Azure does it justice. It hits all of the right notes, and deep roasted flavor of the hojicha is balanced out by the milk and sweetener. Whenever I drop by I always grab a croffle as well. They're made to order and are picture perfect with the flavored creams and sauces. While their sweets are a must get, don't pass up on their savory menu! I enjoyed the vermicelli bowl as it's a cornucopia of food. It's also fresh and light, packed with a variety of vegetables too.

No sweat, more of a laid back atmosphere and I'm pretty chill. We ordered off the QR code and started talking. 40 minutes later our food hasn't arrived, and still no one had come to our table. Mind you, we were right next to the bar. I hailed someone down and asked about the food. They went to check and said their POS system was down. Probably something you should either 1) know and let people know 2) find out seeing no orders coming with people there 3) or find out the quick and personable way by saying hello or checking on people at your table. After they realized this, they didn't really seem to care, but gave us a free queso for our wasted time. Food is decent for the price, but don't expect decent service.

I know i have been ruined by cheap chinese places that fill theirs with cream cheese, but I don't think there was any cream cheese in these at all (which is specified on menu). The big place they lost points was how overly salted and peppered the outside was, as well as the fact there was something kinda of peppery and spicy inside that didn't add flavor, just burned my mouth. Bring the cream cheese! Burger with fried rice side (6/10)- the burger was good! Not the most earth shattering but not a ton of notes either. Would order again. The fried rice was not our favorite- while cooked well it had a strong seaweed or fish oil taste that was pretty dominating. Queso (7/10) - This was my favorite of the night. A good helping of really melty, gooey cheese with crispy wonton chips and also raw broccoli, which I appreciated. I do wish there had been more of the black garlic flavor which I didnt taste it at all, or chili oil, and less salt. Mapo Tofu (3/10) - This dish was fried tofu and ground beef in a sicy szechuan sauce, with white rice that was cooked with beef fat and pickled something. First off- it did not look appetizing. It was a big plate of brown that looked like dog food, and the texture was exactly how I would expect dog food to me. The layer of the dish was so weird- the beef fast for the rice was just pooled at the bottom, then you had a pile of the fried tofu with the dog food mixture on top. Which did not taste good. I just ended up eating the top of the white rice and the pieces of fried tofu. I usually love a good pickled element, but this was temperature hot and so it lost a lot of that acid bite that cold pickled veggies bring to a rich dish to cut through. It was a hard pass for me- texture wise, elements wise, and also just tasted like nothing except a burning pepper heat. Overall, all the food had a major salt problem and tasted very one note- everything just of reeked of black pepper and just generally made my mouth a little burny. Plus, the portions absolutely do not match the price point.
