He's such an attentive waiter and really knows how to talk to people. Friendly and easy to talk to. He always makes our meals enjoyable. 5 stars for just service alone! My wife and I missed dining here but we'll be coming back more often! We had our usual, which consisted of the LC Fiesta burrito, cream of corn and green Chile soup. If you've never tried the LC Fiesta burrito (under the specialty burrito section), TRY IT. You won't regret it. It comes with salad (simple yet satisfying). The corn soup is awesome as well. It comes with tortilla. While deciding our beverage, I was pointing to the Agua fresca, and AT (being attentive) brought us a cup of the strawberry one to try! This really surprised my wife and I. Such great service and it tasted very refreshing. AT also gave us a sheet of stickers for our toddler son who couldn't join us for lunch. Great ambiance, food, and service! No wonder this restaurant was voted Hawaii's best Mexican restaurant!

Once we were seated a ton more people started walking in. There is also street parking available if the lot is full. The staff members were all welcoming and even gave suggestions on the menu. The place is vibrant and fun. Once seated we were served chip and salsa immediately and WOOOW that was good. I had no idea what to order and kept going between the lunch specials (which are deals btw $12 for a not so "mini" burrito) but ended up with the carnitas plate and it came with rice, beans, pico, sour cream, and Guac. I asked for the carnitas to be extra crispy and it was sooo good. It came with a choice of corn or flour tortilla and i opted for corn. They wrapped 3 tortillas in foil and it stay nice and hot. The carnitas was crispy but not dry at all. My friends got the $12 lunch burrito and they only finished half. Another friend got the flauta and she enjoyed that as well. I got a horchata as well and it was soo yummy. I can't wait to come back and try other options with more people.

It is a small to mid sized spot, but still has a good amount of seating. Some window bar seats, and then about 6 tables with chairs and booth seats. The service style is similar to a take out spot (so very minimal), they do ask if you're dining in or taking out, but it seems like you order, seat yourself, and pick up your own food. They would wipe your table down per your request though. Also to note, they have a $3 taco Tuesday deal but it is ONLY for specific tacos AND only during specific hours on Tuesday. We weren't specifically going for the deal so it didn't matter to us, but manage your expectations if you were looking for a deal (esp since some of their tacos are quite pricey) We ordered: * Steak Quesadilla: 7.6/10 This was good, decently cheesy and the carne asada was pretty flavorful as well. * Carne Asada Taco: 7.2/10 Since it's the same steak as the quesadilla it was pretty good as well. I feel like the carne asada has more Asian flavors and spices than Hispanic. It was good regardless. * Carnitas Taco: 7/10 This was good too, similar to kalua pork. * Baja Fish Taco: 8.3/10 This was pretty solid. The fish tasted like it was good quality and the aioli (same as the camarones) was good pairing with the taco * Camarones Taco: 8.1/10 I liked this quite a lot, the cheese skirt brought a nice textual and flavor contrast to the rest of the taco, I also liked the aioli paired with it. If it had slightly more shrimp it would be even better * Horchata: 6/10, this was okay, kind of grainy. I enjoyed everything, my partner on the other hand thought most of the things were just okay. The only thing he really liked was the baja one. Also we would both note that instead of being topped with cilantro and onions, all the tacos had cabbage on top instead? (some had pico with it, some had a little bit of onion). I wouldn't mind coming back but I think my partner would rather not.

But we were looking for something different, quick, and tasty. That's what we got at K-Mex HI although to be quite frank - the parking lot here is terrible! Mostly due to their location in the middle of the street with a handful of street parking locations shared with multiple other businesses down the lane. It took us 3 rounds of driving before we ended up deciding it was better to drop me off to order and pick up the food and have my man drive around into another larger parking lot to wait the 15-ish minutes it would take for our food to be ready. The owners were so nice. Answering all of my insistent questions, smiling when I ended up ordering something different from what they recommended on the menu (my bad - it's a question I ask all businesses even though I usually decide what I want beforehand LOL). They asked if I needed a bag, if I needed utensils and napkins, and even checked in on me while they made the food! Awesome service and I'm sure it would be the same if we decided to eat in. I liked the atmosphere. It was small but homely, clean, and there were a few small fish tanks in the corner! 15-ish minutes later, food packed up - I jumped back in the car and we drove down to South Shore Market in Ward to eat at the tables and take a glance if Ocean Taste's line was... long (it was). And let me tell you... the food? Delicious. The amount of food? Good for the price! And overall pretty darn great experience. I wasn't the biggest fan of the spicy pork (not my preference). But my fiancé liked it and his only comment was that it was a bit greasy for his liking. Reminded him he was in-fact eating spicy pork which is normally served on his plate lunch in a piece of tinfoil so the oil doesn't get everywhere! The carne asada was super delish along with the gochujang hot sauce cups we found at the bottom of the bag. I'd get K-Mex HI again if I was in the area but I'd love to see them in another location where I can more easily park! That's the only real bummer about this place and has deterred me from returning. :(
