    Lychee gauve margarita was amazing!!

I went twice this week, the carne asada fries were so good!! The refried beans are amazing. We als had the green chili pork burrito, caviche and chicken quesadillas. I would recommend all of them. Also, sit at the bar with Monica. She makes the best lychee guava margaritas!!!

The food is PLENTIFUL and flavor immensely better than average Mexican food restaurants. Take it from someone who lived in Tucson AZ for four years. Jacky was our server! She was awesome! She was happy go lucky and made our family birthday celebration special. The ambiance is great here but you need to come here to see for yourself. Parking is first come first serve but when full, there is also street parking when full. I was happily surprised how good the food was. And please try their churro fried ice cream cuz that is "SLAP YA MAMMA" good!

I love Mexico restaurant soooo much. It's one of my favorites of all time. Pro tip: get the horchata and fried ice cream

Always wondered about this place as we always visit a restaurant across the road and I'm glad we did today. A guava and a mango margarita for libations and a chile relleno plate, plus a birria plate for me! Consommé was delicious, not overly salty or oily, and the perfect amount of food. Rice and beans were delicious as well. Smaller parking lot and this place was pumping for a Sunday morning. Chill servers, cumbia music on, and not that long of a wait. Plates were 20-35 dollars, 4 dollars for chips and salsa, 14 bucks for keiki menu items.

My brother pick us up to have lunch. I ordered the mini quesdillas and my husband ordered ground beef burritos no rice extra beans and my brother ordered a ground beef taco salad. Chips and salsa is at a charge. Most places charge and some don't. The service was great and the food is good too. If you into Mexican food try them.

    Churros and Ice cream w/Horchata

We stopped by on Cinco de Mayo, so it was incredibly busy, but we were still able to get a table without too much of a wait. The host greeted us warmly, took our names down, and got us seated quickly despite the crowd. Our server, I believe his name was Jose, was fantastic -- fast, efficient, and very knowledgeable about the menu. We've been here before, but it had been quite a while, and this visit definitely reminded us why people love this place. The ambiance was lively and high-energy, which made the experience even more fun and festive. We ordered the trio fajitas, flautas, mushroom skillet, chips and salsa, churros with ice cream, and horchata. Everything was delicious and came out hot and fresh. In my opinion, they have the best horchata and churros on the island. The churros were perfectly crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and paired so well with the ice cream. One thing to note: chips and salsa used to be complimentary, but now there's a charge for them. That said, the salsa was excellent during this visit, so we didn't mind too much. Overall, the entire staff was friendly, attentive, and handled the Cinco de Mayo rush really well. Even with how packed it was, the service never felt rushed or chaotic. Looking forward to coming back again soon!

Decor in the restaurant. Right behind is the bar.

Driven by this restaurant many times and always wanted to try it since I'm always looking for legit Mexican food. Food was good and the portions are huge! I got the beef fajita burrito while my friend got the grande burrito with chicken only. Both burritos were well prepared and full of flavor. We ordered chips and salsa as well. Had to add some salt to the chips. I also got a passion fruit margarita with Ling hi mui topping. That was good! Service was great. Inside of the restaurant is a bit tight just like it's parking lot outside. Be back again to try more of their food.

El patron: For $38 I'd skip on it next time as the steak was extremely overcooked

Review is for party of 2 walk in on a weekday. Family friendly restaurant with casual vibes. Wait time: none but it wasn't very busy on a Thursday night. Parking: small lot next to restaurant holds about 15 cars but is very tight. Service: service was quick & friendly. Drinks: Drinks are served in a larger bowl but surprisingly the sour mix did not overtake the flavor of alcohol. Well worth the money. Food: The carne asada fries were good but on the soggy/soft side so next time I'd ask for them to be fried crispier. Mexico burrito was delicious! Pro tip: ask for the burrito sauces on the side instead of topped. What's not worth it: El Patron plate. The charbroiled marinated steak was waaaay overcooked and tough to eat. We asked for MR and came out well done. The actual piece of meat was also pretty bland for being "marinated".

The menu changed since the last time we've been here but the food tastes so much better than I remember! So yummy! However I recall that chips and salsa used to be free. This time it wasnt. We ordered guacamole with chips. Yummy. But it needed salsa because it got dry and needed salt. So we asked for salsa, because we thought we would still get free chips and salsa. We were billed $2 for the salsa - came in a small little dish. Unfortunately it tasted like marinara sauce so we didnt eat it. The frozen li hi mui margaritas was incredibly yummy! The papaya taco salad (cant recall the exact menu name) with white fish was yummy too. $22 + $5 Lots of fish. So tasty that we didnt need the ranch dressing. Taquitos (chicken) is always tasy, well seasoned. Add $4 to make it a meal. Refried beans good. But their rice is stellar! Excellent flavor! Finished off the beef burrito plate. Can't go wrong.

It's been years since we've been here. Having just returned from San Diego, I was still wanting Mexican food and what better place than Mexico. We came on a Sunday, late afternoon. I usually order chille relleno's but opted for a vegetarian burrito. It came with black beans and a salad. I was not disappointed. It was flavorful and filling. I saved half for later. The mr had a Mexico burrito and also saved half of his plate for dinner. Parking is hit or miss and not a traditional parking structure. Service was prompt and friendly.

05/05/25 happy Cinco de Mayo! Why the fourth star? Well it's because they changed and upgraded the establishment. It's cleaner, more organized, more of Guadalajara than you can expect. I haven't been here in a while, so definitely a difference is obvious. The food is still is great as you can expect it to be It's more expensive than what it used to be. But, that's expected considering it's been years since my last review and also, cost-of-living has gone up. Cost of food has gone up and the list goes on. They have new staffing, all wearing uniform T-shirts, which is pretty cute. I went there today because today is Cinco de Mayo. I also visited after the lunch, rush, and before the dinner rush. Like I said food is good, hasn't changed in fact it's pretty neat the way they present it. So if you're looking for a good Mexican meal with recipes that come from the mother country and the mother land, Guadalajara this is the place to go.

First, being Hawaii, decent means not using pasta sauce to replace pico, not using shredded processed cheese, and not using refried beans from a can. Don't think of comparing this to that "authentic ethnic" spot in LA or the over border drunken stint in TJ. All the requisites from tortas, burritos, tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, sopas including pozole and menudo, on offer. Complimentary C&S, just OK. Kinda soggy chips and the watery salsa doesn't much depth despite being fire roasted and not much spice heat. No complaints on the basic rice and refried beans that accompanied the large, stuffed trio of chicken empanadas (usually comes with two, add an additional for $5). Flavorful enough but not that complex mole. They are finished off with some sour cream, raw onions and crumbled cotija. Solid. Fast, friendly service with servers who seem to know their regulars well. Fair pricing with almost everything sub $30. It is what it is. Not bad for Hawaii and works to scratch the Mexican itch.

But we were looking for something different, quick, and tasty. That's what we got at K-Mex HI although to be quite frank - the parking lot here is terrible! Mostly due to their location in the middle of the street with a handful of street parking locations shared with multiple other businesses down the lane. It took us 3 rounds of driving before we ended up deciding it was better to drop me off to order and pick up the food and have my man drive around into another larger parking lot to wait the 15-ish minutes it would take for our food to be ready. The owners were so nice. Answering all of my insistent questions, smiling when I ended up ordering something different from what they recommended on the menu (my bad - it's a question I ask all businesses even though I usually decide what I want beforehand LOL). They asked if I needed a bag, if I needed utensils and napkins, and even checked in on me while they made the food! Awesome service and I'm sure it would be the same if we decided to eat in. I liked the atmosphere. It was small but homely, clean, and there were a few small fish tanks in the corner! 15-ish minutes later, food packed up - I jumped back in the car and we drove down to South Shore Market in Ward to eat at the tables and take a glance if Ocean Taste's line was... long (it was). And let me tell you... the food? Delicious. The amount of food? Good for the price! And overall pretty darn great experience. I wasn't the biggest fan of the spicy pork (not my preference). But my fiancé liked it and his only comment was that it was a bit greasy for his liking. Reminded him he was in-fact eating spicy pork which is normally served on his plate lunch in a piece of tinfoil so the oil doesn't get everywhere! The carne asada was super delish along with the gochujang hot sauce cups we found at the bottom of the bag. I'd get K-Mex HI again if I was in the area but I'd love to see them in another location where I can more easily park!
