Dinner in Honolulu, Hawaii... Kukos Ono Tacos was a real foodie adventure. I tried to go with my baby sister one evening, but the line was super long (down the block) and discouraging. She said that by the time we get to the front of the line, they'll probably run outta food. Since then, I was looking for an opportunity to return. After mass on a Saturday, I borrowed 2 chairs and a small table from my church, and got my Aunty Sue (age 89) to go with me. We were first in line at about 5:45 pm. The business is supposed to open at 6pm. I read reviews about how it takes them maybe 30 minutes to set up. Hmmm... We got a little worried - wondering if they would show up. I checked their Instagram, but no posting about canceling, so we waited patiently along with a super friendly couple that sat on the curb next to our chairs. It turns out that we have a friend (Elizabeth M.) in common! Small world! It's because Cony and Brown are recognizable! Anyway, time passed by quickly because we had some fun discussions about things like: who said that the best people are ones who love food? And other taco spots around Honolulu... And - is Northern California or Southern California better... LOL! Maybe we started to order at 7:30pm? I lost track of time... They were quick once they got there... We watched the UHAUL truck park. Three guys unloaded the grill, table, ingredients, etc. They set up the tablecloths and tent like they've been doing this for awhile. I ordered the #1 Tijuana Taco combo which came with horchata. I wanted one of each, but chicken would take another 10 minutes to cook, so I got two adobada and one birria taco. Yum! I didn't add any extra salsa. The flavors were enough for me with guacamole and chopped onions. I was stuffed! My auntie had fun, too! I set up our table behind my car in the parking lot of Bike Factory. No problem! Thanks for an educational and unique experience! It was fascinating!

Kukos is a new street vendor on S King St on Bike Factory parking lot, in business about 1 month ago. Operating on Fridays and weekend nights only, their brightly illuminated tent stands out on otherwise a quiet street with mostly closed daytime businesses. They have chicken, carne asada beef, and adobada (marinated pork) meat options so we ordered 1 of each as part of the #1 Tijuana Taco Combo. Personally, I only tried the beef since my friend ate the other two. As someone coming from SoCal, I wasn't impressed by their tacos but I can see why locals might like it here. I do think paying almost $5 per street tacos was pretty insane. The wait was also over 30 minutes because their grill can't keep up cooking the meats so their workflow left a lot to be desired. Overall, their tacos are good for Hawaii but honestly something I could probably make at home. If you are craving a late night Mexican option, this could be for you.

Location: parking available in the bike factory parking lot Wait: Saturday night arrived at 9:15, tacos in hand at 10:40. Menu: 3 combo items - 3 tacos + agua Fresca $20 - quesadilla + agua Fresca $20 - quesadilla + taco + agua Fresca $23 * Ala carte taco $6 As someone who grew up in Cali, spending weekends in Tijuana this is the closest thing on island I've gotten to home!! Well worth the wait to try this spot! As of right now they only have carne asada & chicken but are working on eventually adding al pastor! New spot, which means long lines & wait so please be patient! You can tell they really love what they do. Johnathon the owner was working the stand tonight and reminded me a lot of the family run stands I grew up going to. They fill these tacos to the max with meat & toppings! We only had the beef tacos but they were excellent!! Horchata was delicious. And, the tacos are DOUBLE TORTILLA like back home! We will be back!

If you're craving legit TJ-style street tacos, Kuko's Tacos is absolutely worth the hype--but come prepared. They're set up right outside the The Bike Factory Honolulu location, and you can either park in their lot or find street parking nearby. Pro tip: get there early. We showed up around 5:50 pm and the line was already building. By the time we got our food, the line was already down the block. The menu is simple: tacos or quesadillas with either chicken or beef (though when we went, it was beef only), plus agua fresca. Today's flavors were dragon fruit and horchata. The tacos are classic SoCal/LA street style--double tortilla, loaded with meat, and topped with cilantro, onion, salsa, and guac. If you want cheese, they melt it directly on the flattop before putting the tortilla on top so you get that crispy cheese crust (highly recommend), though it's an extra charge($3). The tacos themselves? STACKED. No skimping at all--super filling and flavorful. They come with a mild salsa, and there's a self-serve station with lemon and a medium-to-medium-hot spicy salsa. For drinks, the dragon fruit agua fresca was light, refreshing, and just slightly sweet--definitely our favorite. The horchata, unfortunately, wasn't our thing. It was very cinnamon-forward and tasted like it was made from concentrate with a bit of an off aftertaste. A few things to keep in mind: -Everything is served in disposable containers -There's no seating, so expect to eat on the curb or take it to go -It was super windy when we went, which made it a bit cold and probably slowed their setup -They have only been open for a few weeks and are probably still working out some kinks in their flow -Cash or card only They're supposed to be open from 6-11:30 pm (or until sold out), but they arrived around 6:05 pm and needed about 35-40 minutes to fully set up and finish prepping. Even though we were the 4th group in line, we didn't get our food until about 7 pm. That said--still worth the wait. The tacos are incredibly authentic and deliver on flavor and portion. Just bring patience (and maybe a jacket if it's windy).

Would've rated these 5 stars if they had been ready on time Arrived around 5:40pm on a Sunday since their Instagram says they're open Friday-Sunday 6pm-11pm or sold out. There were a few people already waiting in the Bike Factory parking lot and next to the dirt where they set up, but they were not there yet. At around 6:15pm, people started leaving. I had nothing better to do and I had planned to try these all week so I didn't mind waiting. There were no posts on any of their social media about them being late. I ended up being the only person from the original group that stayed until they showed up at 6:40pm, so I was the first to get served at 7:15pm when they were all ready. The line got pretty long by the time I left and there was someone behind me who said they previously waited 4 hours because of how long the line was. The tacos themselves were good! I got two taco combos to take home for my partner & I, one asada and one adobada. Both were well-seasoned and stuffed with meat & toppings. Definitely grab some hot sauce because it makes everything better. They only had one flavor of agua fresca (hibiscus) which was also good, but I would've loved to try other flavors. If you don't mind waiting a few hours, it's a fun experience to try. Bear in mind there's a 10% tax/fee on credit cards.

I saw one of the local foodies that always pop up on my fyp come here so I automatically wanted to check this spot out and honestly so glad I did! I came this past Saturday with my man , the wait wasn't too bad when we arrived we got there a little after 9:30-9:40 ish. And got our food a few mins after 10pm. I was honestly just worried they'd run out of certain things by the time we were next up to order but so glad they didn't. We ordered the #1 Tijuana Taco combo (I believe they have Carne Asada,Chicken, or Pork ) as meat options so we got all of them , and because my man wanted me to get to try each one. And we also ordered the #3 Kukos Mix combo which included a Quesadilla (he opted for chicken) and a taco. Both combos come with a drink. We just got a sprite and a pineapple juice, since there wasn't any Horchata or Agua Fresca. The tacos were very flavorful and I enjoyed each bite! It was truly seasoned and cooked to perfection. My top fav was probably the chicken street taco and the pork! I also tried the quesadilla it was yummy as well. They really pack the tacos & quesadilla to the top so you're getting your moneys worth & while they are new in town , it's worth the wait in line! I think the prices are fair to be honest.. even though some may disagree and complain. It's the economy at the end of the day and we're in Hawaii.. you can't expect cheap these days everyone's trying to make it after all. The ambience and setting was cool , everyone there looked happy to serve the crowd! My man being Mexican approved of this spot as well! As he also agreed and thought the tacos & quesadillas were good. He wouldn't really go out of his way to go back but me on the other hand would. Since Hawaii doesn't really have taco spots . And when it comes to mexican food and loving Mexican food just as much as I do , if I like a spot the first time, I decide right then and there if I'll return or not hehe. 10/10 recommend you won't regret it!

Just drove by a few weeks later and the line was 50 people deep at 8:15! Gotta go back and see what they have to offer now. The menu looks like it has expanded. I cannot wait!

Tacos were good they just fall apart need two tortillas. Cost is $22 dollars for 3 Tacos and agua de horchata or agua de Jamaica included.

    Soggy, not worth it.

Mexican sounded good to everyone so we picked this spot and we're all very happy we did. Our server was kind and attentive. The place was lovely and decorated with just the amount of fun you expect. Some great photo ops in there. He even told us they were having a mariachi band tomorrow and invited us to come back. The food from the start with nachos and salsa to the end with tres leches was all delicious. I ordered the chorizo queso and it was fantastic. My son ordered the guacamole and it was so fresh and limey. Also delicious. My grandkids shared a quesadilla which was definitely large enough to do so with. My oldest grandson ordered a torte and he loved it. Also a generous portion. My son and I both ordered the grande burrito. He got his wet and I didn't. His was served on a plate and mine came wrapped in foil in a basket. I wish it would have also come on a plate. I like to cut it up to eat and the foil made that difficult to do. We ordered the tres leches to go because we were all so full. Enjoyed it the next day. Three of us could share on piece. It's delicious but very rich.

The tables were full initially bc it was HH on the cantina side so we just ordered drinks then went to the other side to order food. Didn't realize if we order food on the grab and go side that we can't sit on the cantina side. They brought us our drinks. A table opened up shortly after then we went to sit but they told us since we got food from the other side we couldn't sit on the cantina side. Service otherwise was average. Got the molcajete which has a variety of meats, rice, beans and small corn tortillas. It's enough to feed 2-3 people. Had some leftovers. Flavors were ok. Not the best Mexican food I ever had but decent.
