Is this place worth waiting an hour and a half or longer? I don't think so. My lunch buddy and I decided to come here the Wednesday after Ohana Hale Marketplace opened up again. This was during the extension of the second Stay-At-Home order. After reading about how long people wait to order food from here, we decided to arrive at 10am. I got there earlier but I was on a call with a client so I stayed in my vehicle. Luckily my lunch buddy is always early and went inside to stand in line. Even though we were early, she was still 3rd in line. Now the wait begins... One hour passed and they finally opened to take orders! They took the first and second persons order. Third persons order was taken after first person received their order. This continues down the line. This is why you have to wait so long to order here. They seriously need to figure out a new system because if they don't, this will be their downfall. The food is good but I don't think it's worth the wait as mentioned above. Price is also on the high end for what you get. Overall, great to support local during this time but it'll be awhile before I come back again. read more

Yay! Finally got to try the hype on the mainland. There's another place that has this too, but it's too far for me to get to. They opened at ohana market place last week and they already had a huge following. I attempted to go on their 3rd day and the line went out the door and then some. Since I was outside and the line was barely even moving, I decided to leave, especially since I read someone waited for 3 hours. I'm going to die from a heat stroke out there and I wasn't even prepared to wait that long. Then they were closed for a few days and was going to reopen on a Thursday, which ended up being the day of lockdown 2 on Oahu, and ohana market was now going to close completely, so they decided to open the day before! Score! I was so disappointed prior to that cause I was so close to trying until I saw they were going to open up before the place closes down. I was prepared this time! I went exactly when the marketplace opened and b-lined it to their spot! I scored and was the first in line! Lucky for me, they opened a little earlier than expected so the wait wasn't that bad - I say 40 mins tops! The menu was pretty small. It's either the Birria tacos for 4.50, quesadillas for $5, or the broth for $4. They have all of their lemonades and limeades and they start at $6 each. The limit was 10 tacos and I ended up getting all 10 along with 2 broths and a guava limeade. The total for all of this was a whopping $62. My jaw almost dropped. Lol. They also took orders 2 at a time so that's why the line barely moved. I hope they can find a way to be a little more efficient with this. I think they used maybe a 6" tortilla so it's not super big or super small either. The flavors were good and so was the broth. I really enjoyed the guava limeade that was recommended by the cashier. You can tell they use fresh limes in their drinks. I liked how I ordered too much so it came in two containers with limes and radishes. Perfect cause I forgot to tell them to separate 4 in a separate container since it was for a friend. I would come back again on occasion. It's kind of a lot of money for tacos, but it is addicting. I must say - I got myself into an entanglement with Birria tacos this week and I want more! Anyway! Some tips for you! Go when the mall opens so you don't have to wait 2++ hours and be disappointed or wait till the hype dies down. There's also 2 other people that sells this from their homes and 1 other restaurant that sells this twice a week in wahiawa. It was okay. We waited 2 hours in line and let me tell you this.. There were only 2 employees working and they were both over it. It was packed and busy, so I truly would understand why they would be fed up. The menu was limited & they had only 2 options- Quesotaco Dorado and Mini Quesadilla. Both look and tasted just about the same. It ranged from about $4- $5.50 for 1. The Consume was $4 for 1 cup. It was a little Bland and I was not too impressed by it. I most definitely loved their Lemonades and limeades. This is located inside the Ohana Marketplace (Old Sports Authority) Highly recommend coming when they are open. I definitely want to try this place again when they have their full menu up and are not too busy. I'm sure if they were up to their game it would've tested great! The HYPE is real!! Never would I imagine I would be standing in line for an hour just for tacos, but I was determined to get my hands on some birria tacos. I've been seeing a lot about these tacos and wanted to try them for myself. I'm glad that Griddled was the first place I tried them. Griddled is located in the Ohana Market Place off of Ward Avenue. It's tucked neatly in the far right corner when entering the main entrance of the market place. Expect lines to snake through out the isle in the market place and if not there on their slow days, expect to be in line for a while. The tacos at Griddled were packed with shredded meat (barria), melted cheese, cilantro and red onions in a crispy corn tortilla and comes with a side of lime and radish. I also ordered a mini quesadilla, which has the same ingredients as the tacos, but only slightly bigger and instead of corn tortillas, they use flour tortillas. When ordering either the tacos or the quesadilla, a MUST is the consome, which is a broth made of onions and cilantro. I don't know what else is in this broth, but I literally could drink that for days. It's so good! read more

My husband and I were excited to try this place, as he's Mexican so we are always on the hunt for good tacos lol. We waited in line for like 30 minutes and ordered 2 quesataco dorados, 1 consomé broth, and I got an ocean lemonade. Each taco was $4.50 so we thought it'd be a decent size. When we got our order and opened up the container, it was laughable at how small each taco was - and remember, each one was $4.50! Honestly, each taco should have been at most $2. First of all, let me tell you.. I wanted for 2 1/2 hours in line for these tacos. Lol The service took forever. I noticed while i was waiting the cashier would take one order after one order came out. Which i found it really odd. Not a very efficient. I order the quesataco dorado which was $4.50 a piece which i feel like it could be cheaper by a dollar. I would say. And i also got the consome which is $4.00 a cup. For broth, i would think it would be a little bit cheaper as well. I did get the guava limeade which was bomb asf! Alright... so I heard the hype of this place and was super excited to try it. Got to the market place at 10:30 and they opened at 11. There were 3 small groups in front of us and it was 30 minutes before I even placed my order. They need additional employees. After placing my order I was already surprised at the prices. 4.50 per taco. 6.50 for lemonade. The tacos don't clinics the consome. It's 4 dollars just to get the dipping sauce. 75 cents for a hot sauce! Ok, so let's try and forget about the fact that I've been waiting for an hour and 15 minutes to get my 4 tacos. They come out, they are much smaller than you would think. They were good, not the best tacos I've had. If they were cheaper and easier to get I would definitely go back. Freaking bomb!! Yes, it's a long line (right now), but why do you think?? These guys put their heart into their food and it really shows. Get the full package if you're going to try this place out, which means tacos/quesadilla, the broth, and the salsa. The broth though, I've found to actually be really comforting all on its own if you're just looking for a warm pick-me-up. Take your time to enjoy it, just as they've taken the time to make it. These birria tacos are legit. My palette is use to southern California Mexican food and this was like a taste of just that. I highly recommend arriving before they open. I waited 2 hours (worth it!) and I got there at opening time (11am). I also recommend the lemonades. They are very very delicious. I will stop by again before I leave the island. read more

When I first tried this place, I had to wait in line for 2.5 hours. I was pretty peeved as anyone would be, and I notice that the staff is only taking one order at a time. I almost left but I was already wasting so much time in line that I stuck to it. Then I saw the price for these birria tacos, it was a huge turn off. My favorite is the quasarito dipped in consume with salsa spooned on top. I take my bite then follow with a swig of ice cold coke. That flavorful bite of beef with the burn of my coca-cola gets my eyes watering and endorphins pumping. My taste buds go bananas with excitement. I smash the whole thing. As I'm standing in line, I'm reading the reviews for this place and as I am also observing how the process is taking, there's 1 cook/food, preparer that I could only see and then there's just 1 counter help. I was fortunate enough to try Griddled and let me just say how much these reminded me of my upbringing in Mexico. The taste of the Mexican chiles in the consommè and spices are pure bliss. The quesatacos were $4.50 each. The tacos were crispy and had the right amount of cheese and meat ratio. The salsa I'm sure has Arbol which adds the perfect heat to the tacos. Service was great. I tried Griddled a few days ago for the first time and was amazed at the entire experience. We lined up around 5pm and the line went pretty fast. Everything was very safe and organized with regards to covid rules. They have 6ft distancing stickers placed along where to line up, temperature checks at the door for entry and require masks to be worn for entry. It is great they put safety first and do so with such efficiency. The menus were huge and easy to read even at the back of the line which helped me with my indecisiveness. They also had a soft opening menu posted too which showed exactly what was available for this time. Since it was my first time trying this new craze of deliciousness I appreciated the great detail they wrote on each menu item for me to know exactly what was in what I was ordering as well as the photos posted so I would know what to expect. The staff was very friendly and organized writing the order slip down for the cooks to ensure everything was made perfectly and quickly. My friend and I were impressed by the friendliness and attention to detail of the staff taking our order. You could tell he had taken plenty of orders but he was great at giving us undivided attention answering any questions we had with out rushing us while making us feel welcome and having a good fast pace. He did a great job at making us feel like special valued customers and not just a number in line which was amazing considering all the orders he was taking. After we ordered we received a receipt and went into the pick up line which was run with the same great structure and speed. It really didn't feel like we waited very long at all. We were able to find a seating area (which was clean and spaced out 6ft from other tables) easily and enjoy everything fresh right away. I ordered the Lilikoi Lemonade, two mini quesadillas, two beef birria quesataco dorados and the consome dip. I ate it all pretty fast but enjoyed every savory bite. The meat was stewed for 16 hours making it perfectly tender and flavorful. Everything was perfectly filling for me and very satisfying. I get scared eating many places since I'm pregnant but this place was on point with being spotless too which made me feel more then comfortable. Everything tasted and looked extremely fresh and they were on it with keeping everything clean. Even the limes served were perfectly ripe and juicy. The consume was so good that I drank it as a soup after my dipping was complete. Even drinking it alone, it wasn't too salty, had great flavor and had some meat in there for extra satisfaction. Everything so soooo good that as soon as we were done eating we went back to line up again to buy some for my husband, mother in law, father in law and some more for my son. The line went by quick again. We were amazed that the staff remembered our name to write down for the order when we returned even though they helped so many people after us. That kind of caring, genuine customer service is so rare these days and really blew us away. They even served about ten past closing until they sold out which showed their dedication and love to their customers. The owners and workers were all very genuine, hardworking and kind with a very positive attitude. We live about 40mins away from the marketplace and the food was still crunchy & hot when we brought it to our Ohana. There was even one mini quesadilla left over the next day that I got to eat and it was still not soggy (like left overs I usually have from other taco places are) with full flavor. My only regret was that I was so excited to eat everything that I forgot to take any pictures but I will be sure to update my review with photos when I go back (which will be soon!). read more

Like many of the reviews, they take two orders at a time and will take the third order once the first persons food comes out. The menu was limited and they only had taco for $4.50 or quesadilla for $5, broth is ala cart at $4, and they were sold out of the $0.75 salsa... 1 hour into opening. This was the first time we had birria tacos so we have nothing to compare it to. We assumed one order of tacos came with at least 2-3 tacos, considering it was almost $5 and majority of the pictures on yelp seem to have multiple tacos/quesadillas. We ordered 1 taco, 1 quesadilla, and 2 broths and our total was $20. We had high expectations for these prices. Our food came out and there was only one take out container. We opened it to make sure our order was right and there laid a single taco and a single quesadilla.... Biggest. Let. Down. Ever. Honestly, it wasn't that great. Our homemade tacos tasted better. The meat wasn't impressive and the broth itself tasted watered down. Again, this is the first time we're trying birria tacos with nothing to compare it to, but I don't think we'll be back. We ended up getting grilled cheese sandwiches from Honolulu Bistro because of the sad single taco and quesadilla. I've been in the marketplace that this establishment is set up in a number of times since they've opened and have tried my fair share of restaurants in there. I've never seen that many people in there until the day I went to try griddled. And they all just so happened to be on the one track kind of also trying griddled. By far one of my favorites!! My husband and I got two Quesatacos and also ordered the consume'. The taco was so fresh and delicious. I'm not sure if you're supposed to drink the consume' like broth/soup but I sure did. I've never been a big fan of limeade but that was the best drink I've ever had in my life. I'd honestly buy the whole thing if I could. I went out of my comfort zone and tried the cucumber limeade. Holy smokes!! Please try it it will change your life. It was soooo yummy. The staff was also super friendly and gave me a homie vibe.
