Ambiance on my visit was bad. Perhaps they are undergoing renovation, but the restaurant was half full of those materials, so there were only 4 tables all crammed by the windows. Very uncomfortable and unwelcoming. The Latin music playing made it a little better. All the food is served takeout style even if you're dining in. That might have been ok for tacos, but for the ramen, it diminished the experience. I think I got the same amount of onions as I did beef, plus the onions in the consomme... waaaaay too much onion. Went here for lunch and it turned out to be a nice casual lunch. I had the Hell Fire burrito and that was too spicy for my stomach to handle. The burn lingered for a while and gave me acid reflux for two days. Don't recommend anyone with gastrointestinal issues to try it. I can eat very spicy, but it's not the natural spice therefore created issues for me. Tasted good tho so i will definitely come back and try the regular version. The strawberry horchata was delicious and good level of sweetness. I don't drink sweet drinks so it's a tad too sweet for me and I still enjoyed it. The service was friendly but the music was on too loud. I couldn't hear my conversation so i had to move further away from the speakers. Hands down the best Birria Tacos. We were downtown and craving tacos so we went with La Birria. I've been to their food truck at Pearlridge but they also have a restaurant downtown. Service was great and quick. We ordered the Birria Queso Pack, pickled jalapeños, added ramen, and the cold brew horchata. Everything was on point. The cold brew horchata is super refreshing, especially if you're a coffee lover. It's got that nice cinnamon horchata flavor mixed with cold brew. Been coming to La Birria since 2022 when i tried it way back when for the first time at their truck right outside of Pearlridge. I been ecstatic ever since they opened this downtown location since I live in town and used to make the trip all the way to Aiea for these tacos lol . I hope this location never moves because it feels amazing having them just blocks away since i crave the tacos every other day ( im not kidding btw ) . This is the BEST spot to get authentic delicious birria on the island , im telling you! Meat is so favorable and juicy and the cheese,onions and cilantro just come together. I don't know why it took me long to make a review on here but either way I finally did haha. I got the tacos since it's been long overdue and i been craving .. also i ordered the hellfire tacos along side the queso pack and WOW. I definitely underestimated the spice level butttt it was a powerful delicious kick! So glad i gave it a try finally today. The Strawberry Horchata was the perfect amount of sweetness, creamy, and with real strawberry. I could taste cinnamon and vanilla. 10/10...so good! I also got the Barria Queso Pack. I was referred to La Birria by the guys working at the AC Marriott Hotel. Love the fact that they are friendly and open late, especially when you need a quick snack or just having a late dinner. It's a takeout only spot and you order at the door. The 3 tacos I ordered were delicious and they had just the right amount of meat (minus the cheese). They normally come with mozzarella cheese, cilantro and onions with shredded beef. The dipping sauce was good too and you definitely won't run out. Make sure you have some napkins for the dipping sauce. They do not have any sodas, tea coffee, etc..so I recommend getting your own unless you want horchata. La Birria has a Food Truck in the parking lot of Pearlridge, but the thought of outdoor dining with the wind and exhaust fumes from cars passing by is not appealing. Plus, dipping my tacos in consommé requires a table and a clean, stable environment since this will be a very messy process... That's why this Fort Street Mall location is perfect! It's kind of busy during lunchtime since many office workers (and even police officers) stop by for dining-in or takeout. I got the Birria Queso Pack (three tacos with cheese), which comes with consommè and a wedge of lime. It was a bit spicy for me, but the shredded meat was tasty and tender! There were finely diced onions in it that provided some texture and more flavor. The edges of the corn tortilla had a slight crunch... yum! The cheese pull was fun, too! I also got a Strawberry Horchata, which was refreshing and helped calm my mouth! This drink has a cinnamon essence and is not watered down! Stop by if you're in the area! Simple storefront with Hispanic music playing on the speakers. The menu is simple, which I appreciated. The tacos were crunchy even after a 10 minute walk back to the office. I'm literally screaming! This place is so good! The BEST place for birria on this island. When I say the consommé exceeded my expectations, I absolutely mean it. The broth was sooo rich in flavor, I could drink it. Whatever you do, just get an extra consommé and eat it with either ramen noodles or rice. Thank me later. Let's talk about the tacos-- ummmm incredibly DELICIOUS! The meat was tender and seasoned perfectly. The hell fire one... it was HAWWWTT!!! I can tolerate hot but as I was digesting, I could feel the heat making its way through my GI tract. Hehe. But so much fun when you get the Mexican roulette package because it's funny when the poor friend or you get the really spicy one. The place is fairly easy to find. It's around the corner from Scarlet nightclub. Parking is semi hard to find since it's Chinatown so the best way to get it quickly is to go w another person and have them sit in the car while you pick up the goods or vice versa. Nice to see the place cleaned and opened. Pretty stoked when I saw them cleaning the windor and found out they'd open the following week. I was there that week...I was so excited. Maybe too excited...told all the coworkers and I know 1 guy is now a regular. I went late to avoid the lines. Limited menu. You're forced to get at least 3 regular or 2 HF tacos. I would have been perfect for me. I can't eat 3, and I also wanted to taste the HF, but I def didn't need 5 tacos. I ordered 3 with a side of saimin for leftover consomme, and then got a saimin for my mom for later on. I like that the saimin is separated from the soup. They make it all pretty too. Tacos need to be fresh so don't wait long to eat. Flavor is good...they use beef and not goat. I'm very much okay with that, but think the goat would be a hit with my hubs. I realized I've had Birria stuff, but it was my first time eating a Birria Taco. It needed a kick. Not a HF kick, but just a mild kick in the pants. I actually liked the saimin better...with all the garnish. Gave the flavors another level. Another day I did try the HF...1 big ass bite and pretty sure I was near death. I never thought I was such a wuss until then. Definitely never doing that again. But if the HF and the Regular ever make beautiful music and come up with a hybrid, then I'll try that. La Mision Taqueria was closed for so, so long during the pandemic and every time I passed by it was so sad to see their storefront but closed doors. Then La Birria came in and it was exciting to see that Mexican food would be back! I happened to have had a near-midnight craving tonight and was thinking, "Ah well, I'll have them for lunch tomorrow" but NO - they're closed on Sundays! But YES, they are open until 2:30 am Saturday night/Sunday morning (WHAT!?) So I popped by and got me the Birria Queso Pack and a Horchata. Honestly, when I looked at the menu I was a bit disappointed that there was no burrito option (my go-to at Mision) but these tacos do not disappoint! So crispy, and flavorful even without dipping them in the consommé. If all tacos were like this, I could be swayed from being a burrito girl. Horchata hit the spot too. I remember coming here when it was a Mexican Takeout - Mission something - had the golden gate bridge as their logo and wondered what would be filling the space next - was super excited when I found out it was La Birria - their birria tacos are fire!!! I never tried the Birria Ramen so decided to try that yesterday and it was yummy! The noodles were nice and chewy - and I was suggested this jalapeño vinegar (I think that's what he said lol) but it was so delicious with it and I don't think I can eat the ramen without it now lol. I got my coworker the Strawberry Horchata so idk how that tasted but it looked refreshing. Will be back again! It was fast - thought the line was going to be out the door like the other day but it was pretty mellow, so now would be the best time to go. Nice job, La Birria. I took on the Hell Fire birria taco combo ($13 for two tacos, consomme, and some picked jalapenos +$5 for a side of ramen for the leftover consomme broth). The cashier made sure to warn me that the ghost peppers they use in the Hell Fire are no joke. I wouldn't consider myself a master of the spicy arts, but I felt up to the challenge. I can report that they delivered as advertised. I wolfed down the first Hell Fire taco in a few bites, admiring the enjoyable texture and flavors of the birria taco and consomme. But I could feel the heat wave coming fast and biting into the pickled jalapenos on the side actually brought relief from the ghost pepper burn.
