The open air atmosphere is pleasant and offers a fun, yet relaxed ambiance that pairs well with what I would call the best margaritas on island. My personal favorite is the jalapeño margarita made with infused tequila. It's spicy and savory and totally hits the spot. The food is also great. The chips are super crispy so you don't have to worry about breaking them when you dip a big scoop of salsa or guacamole. The service is friendly, professional and efficient. The enchilada plate was not a traditional type enchilada , but it was extremely good. It's light, flavorful and the perfect portion to fill you up. I always leave satisfied. The restaurant is open air which would be beautiful on a sunny day, but since our weather has been anything but consistent these past few months, you'll never know what you're going to get. The waitresses here were so friendly and so efficient. We waited less than 15 minutes for anything we ordered and the margaritas were delicious. I ordered the Pineapple Margarita at first and thought it was super tasty and refreshing. Then, I decided to get the Jalapeño Margarita because why would I not? Lol I ordered the Birria Tacos which were perfect because I was served two chicken tacos with consome and that filled me up quickly! The workers were awesome! Calm, cool, and collected. Ordered the side salsa $4 and guacamole with chips $10. Omg the guacamole was so good that I ordered another one to take home. The chips were perfect for them - they were thick, not the kind you can buy from the store. The salsa, however, we did not care for. For lunch, we had the fish taco ($9) and pork belly taco ($9) (because I really wanted to try the pineapple salsa) with the add on rice and beans ($5). Tacos were simple but delish. Beans were no biggie and rice was sweet with a hint of spice on top and hint of ketchup in the sauce. I wouldn't do the add on again. I've been eating more Mexican food as of late as I love birria tacos. We were here today for happy hour. Happy hour is daily from 3-6pm. They only gave us the happy hour menu, so I'm not sure if they serve off the regular menu during those hours. We got the horchata $5, queso & chips $13 with shredded beef $3, birria tacos $18 and burrito $16 with chipotle chicken $4. The horchata was excellent. It was creamy and refreshing with strong hints of vanilla and cinnamon. The queso & chips with shredded beef was also yummy. The tortilla chips were fresh and made in house. Both entrees were a let down. The birria tacos even with the consommé were flavorless. It was just salty. The burrito was filled mostly with rice, with a little chicken and beans. It also didn't have much flavor. My husband dipped it into the queso and then it was great. I do like the setup of this restaurant. They have an open glass window that you can look into the kitchen. I miss the old Margaritas. The menu now looks like a Happy Hour menu and the food options are so minimal, it might as well be. They advertise 10$ all day every day, so there isn't even an option to come here, for say, Happy Hour anyway. I came here with a friend and I will say the service was excellent. We were able to order pretty quickly because the restaurant that was once bustling was dead. Only 1 other table when we were there at around 7p. We both ordered burritos, hers chicken and mine steak. Her chicken burrito was mostly cheese but my burrito made me sick. It was so greasy and the peppers had seen better days. It was such an unsatisfying meal. Like I said, the restaurant was empty so the atmosphere felt kind of sad--just lingering memories of what this place used to be. Service was friendly and efficient. I ordered 3 tacos: shrimp, shredded beef, and Portobello tempura. All were delicious! We also shared the squash and zucchini quesadillas... yummy! Margaritas the little spot that sits prominently on the corner of Sheridan and Rycroft in the 808 Center with a lime in their brightly lit sign that does it's best to shield itself from the busy traffic flowing by has been a spot that I've wanted to check out and Nadine C who knows the spot was right on it. After quite an adventurous day I was ready for some dinner and as I arrived first it gave me the chance to check out their menu since we missed happy hour and though that I missed the chance to graze over their options. Though their menu are sectioned with appetizer, tacos and entrees it all was well priced considering the location at $25 being their highest (with the exception of add ons) I was excited to try a couple of items. Since I grabbed the table I chose a larger four seat since closer to the door and the staff was very nice to start us off with water and time to decide as well, I ordered Esquite a roasted corn dip which was delicious though wasn't as creamy and didn't have the kick that I hoped but you can always add more but it came with house made chips that came in a cute fry basket was really good but the chip was way too thick though very nice and had a great crunch it felt like my tooth was working overtime on each bite. Mexican Salad it had all the items that I do like and decided to try something light and added shredded beef and with the standard lettuce, onions, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes and jicama it all was chopped in chunks and I may be just nitpicking it didn't feel like a Mexican salad at all with their agave lemon vinaigrette it was quite boring as I picked at it I was disappointed. Nadine ordered tacos and quesadilla with squash and zucchini to share and at $12 is a good price but it was just cheese so an additional $3 for the veggies is a price hike that majority of the menu will be which does get you at the end but the vibe of this place is very vibrant and festive along with the wonderful staff and can see why many come here to hang out and have fun as it is the place to do so and now I'm curious of what their happy hour has to offer. I really wanted to like this place especially since I came here for taco Tuesday & it wasn't very busy. They have a good special (equivalent to HH deals). Their taco trio meat was dry- like each type of protein was dry & oily at the same time? I really wanted to like it, but the meat was dry. The ceviche tostado was soooo good, but was very wet, the plate already had some of the juice on it, but as soon as i picked it up it was running off my hand & tostada on the plate. All the food we ordered tasted as if it was double fried, or maybe the oil wasn't strained out as well. Something I did love was the margaritas- so so so good! We came here on Saturday night and it wasn't too crowded. Service is a bit slow though, considering there's not too many people, but I do notice there's not too many waiters either. I love the ambiance of the restaurant though and it felt pretty lively but relaxing at the same time! It's definitely a good place to have some conversations and drinks with your friends! Food was okay.. The tacos and carnitas were average and I wish the sauce was a little more tasty. The ceviche, though, was really good and fresh! A must try for taco Tuesday! Great deals and tasty margaritas. Juicy and flavorful street tacos and addicting chips and guac, yes please! I always start off with the mini nachos and a margarita. This time I tried the spicy jalapeno margarita and it was soooo good, just the right amount of kick. Service was friendly and prompt. Love the outdoor greenery, the perfect pau hana vibes for taco Tuesday. Side note: I had my little one with me and made a reservation in advance requesting a highchair. Unfortunately the one and only highchair was in use when we got there. That was pretty disappointing. Located across Walmart & Sam's club ground level on the corner is a complex of restaurants and shops. They have valet parking, first hour is free after that you need to pay parking charges or park on the street. The waitress ask if we wanted chips and salsa which is not served on the house but priced at $6.00 per order. I had the shredded chicken chipotle burrito with the chicken it was $19.00 if you want shredded beef or others you need to add to the price of the plain burrito. My wife ordered the shredded beef enchilada plate which was $20.00 It came with rice and black beans. They have a full bar of drinks and different types of margaritas. The food was good and tasty and portions are pretty large like my burrito was enough to share and the enchiladas were enjoyed and also had left over. I've been here a few times already. It's a convenient location because it's close to Walmart. They recently changed their menus and we were there for a good Taco Tuesday special, but ended up getting a few different things because they didn't have the same special anymore. --Taco Tuesday special is $1 Off tacos--. We were greeted and seated without a wait, but this place does get busy in the evening. We got the chips & salsa, steak quesadilla, Birria Chipotle Chicken Tacos +$5 Spanish rice & beans, and Nachos. If you're going to order chips and salsa you might wanna try the nachos instead. It's a big portion and perfect for sharing! The Spanish rice was not very flavorful and I didn't like it but the beans were okay.cI liked the amount of cheese inside the Birria Chipotle Chicken Tacos, but I prefer beef. I did really like the chips and salsa and nachos so I recommend those! There's no ac, kind of like an open air seating with fans. I had a great time here and definitely plan on coming back! First off, the food was a hit--especially the tacos. They had a really nice variety, and every one I tried was packed with flavor. You can tell they put effort into the ingredients and seasoning because each taco had its own unique taste. I'd highly recommend them if you're a taco lover; they were probably the highlight of the food for me. Now the drinks--wow. The margaritas were amazing, especially the lilikoi flavor. It was super refreshing, just the right amount of sweet and tropical without being overpowering. I honestly wasn't expecting to be that impressed by the drinks, but the Hawaiian margarita totally surprised me in the best way. I could've had a few more of those (and I wanted to!). The only downside--and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5--was the drink service. I understand it was Cinco de Mayo, so it was naturally a bit packed. That's fair. But even as the crowd started to die down later in the evening, the wait for drinks was still pretty long. It took around 25 minutes just to get drinks, I had to order 2 at times since it was time consuming for the wait and drinks were kind of little smaller than medium. That said, our waitress was very sweet and polite whenever she came by, and I could tell she was doing her best with how busy things were. All in all, the energy was good, the food was flavorful, and the drinks were a highlight. Just hoping next time the service is a bit quicker, especially with the bar. I'd still recommend this place to anyone looking for great tacos and tropical-style margaritas--it's definitely worth a visit! read more

Our waitress was really sweet and really nice. Our nachos came out so fast and they were delicious, I loved how many toppings they put on the nachos and the chips were so delicious! Our margaritas were also lovely and had a nice strong pour, I got the guava one and would definitely get that one again! The Birria tacos were yummy, I only wish they had added more cheese. While the tacos were good they did take an extra long time to come out, I ordered a fish taco and I ended up waiting almost an hour, our churros came out before the fish taco did. I sometimes regret my choices. We've passed it dozens of times and asked as often, "You think that place is any good?" YES! But that doesn't seem like it's a sufficient response. Mmmmmui Bueno might be slightly more accurate description. But it's still not worthy of the mouth-watering meal we enjoyed at Margaritas. I chose to remove all land animals from my plate about a year ago. So, my food 'adventures' have taken a different direction but it's still a fun and fulfilling one. In fact, it's like I started looking at food and menus with a completely new set of eyes and taste buds. I mention this because the main reason I finally decided to give this place a try was I saw it on Cheap Eats (thank you, Guy Hagi) and they had several vegetarian options that sounded intriguing. So when the hubby offered a Saturday lunch date with the challenge to "pick a new place," I thought it was the ideal opportunity to give this place a go. Is it possible that Mexican food can be refined? That's what it felt like--quality and care on a plate. But I digress. From the fast and friendly service, to the eye-pleasing plating, to the bold and balanced flavors, to the refreshing open-air dining, to the carefully curated playlist that subtly soothed in the background the dining experience here was 10 out of 10 or in Yelp translation a SOLID five stars. We started with the salsa sampler and every salsa had a unique profile. But they all paired perfectly with the crispy corn chips. My favorite was the pineapple habanero salsa. It was sweet with a touch of heat. But the salsa roja was a close second with its rich, earthy undertones. The salad was probably one of the best I've had in a Mexican restaurant. The three types of tomatoes, bell peppers, and cubes of jicama were skillfully cut to create a bowl of perfect bite possibilities and the dressing was a tangy and peppery with a bright acidic flavor. I had the portobello tempura mushroom taco and the taco dorado. Every. Single. Bite was followed with 'mmmm' SO GOOD! Usually I share with my husband but I was like, "Enjoy your crispy carnitas plate baby. This is all mine." The mushroom held its crispness all the way to the last bite even with the drizzle of crema and the topping of pickled cabbage and pico de gallo. The dorado is the 'base' taco and you can add a protein. But I stuck with the vegetarian option of potatoes and poblano peppers. It was simple but spectacular! Crispy but not oily and the crema, cheese, onions, and cilantros made it a fiesta in my mouth. Hubby enjoyed his crispy carnitas entree as much as I enjoyed my single order tacos. His entree came with rice and beans and we agreed it's the best rice from any Mexican restaurant we've tried on the island--and we've tried a bunch! I tried his rice and beans--because he's not greedy like me and shared a couple mouthfuls. (Definitely a keeper!) No room for dessert and I wasn't in the mood for a margarita but I saw them being delivered to other tables and I promised myself I'm coming back with the bestie for some day-drinking. Don't be like me! Don't pass by this place and wonder if it's good. Find street parking, walk, and enjoy the BEST Mexican on the island. And if you're a vegetarian, this place is a MUST. Step away from the commercialized, touristy Waikiki, and enter this cozy neighborhood spot around the corner from Ala Moana Center. With an open-air indoor-outdoor setting, it's very relaxed with delicious food and drinks. We were craving a good margarita after all, and Margaritas did not disappoint. The Habanero margarita was not too spicy but rather just spicy enough, tasty, and made well, so we each got two. Just had an excellent Rib eye steak fajitas. The rib eye was cooked perfectly. So tender, juicy, and and tasted amazing. All of the sides were great, and the onions and peppers were great too.
