Went for lunch with a friend and had a nice overall experience. Valet parking for a reasonable price was helpful since parking in the area is limited. The restaurant itself is super cute and vibrant. Classic is exactly what you'd expect, tart and crisp, what you're looking for in a margarita. Really good happy hour and cinco de mayo specials! The pineapple habanero salsa is by far my fave. We drove over for Happy Hour, 3pm-6pm, and we were delighted at how great the food was. Service was also fantastic. I actually like Margaritas quite a bit. It's a fun place for pau hana and mostly chill vibes... however, my complaint is about the service. Now, let me clear the air and assure anyone reading that no one on the staff is rude, or snarky, or anything negative concerning their demeanor... we've been here a few times and have only had friendly waiters. However, the service has been consistently slow. The first two times we did assume maybe it was because each night seemed to have party groups -- but the third and most recent time we went with a small group of friends and were one of three tables... yet somehow the service was even slower. At one point it took 20+ minutes to get a round of shots out. To add insult to injury, with over an hour left until close (we showed up two hours before close), the wait staff had no trouble speeding along to clean, but didn't have any urgency for the customers. It's a shame because I want to love Margaritas, I want to make this my go-to for the titular drink; but the disinterest in speedy customer care is holding me back. read more

Each weekend I look forward to a nice sit-down lunch. Decided to give Margaritas a try. Found parking a few blocks away and arrived around 12:10. Very few customers and I wondered if the high winds were keeping folks away since it is an open concept space. Was sat and got the menu but then waited several minutes for the server to return. Once she returned I ordered my drink, chips and salsa, and three different tacos. After another 10-15 minutes I got my drink but no chips. Waited patiently while I watched her clean and reset a few tables. After waiting another few minutes I had to find her and ask about my chips. Five minutes later she brought them. Small basket and even smaller dish of salsa that was enough for about half the chips. Waited to ask for more salsa until my food arrived. Tacos were good, I enjoyed the taste and variety. Long after I finished she returned and I asked about some more salsa and she asked if I wanted a refill on my drink. Again, 10 minutes went by and I waved for her and she brought my salsa but not the drink refill... By now I was a bit frustrated. Finished my chips and my drink then waited for the check. They use at the table hand-held POS and I did decided to adjust the gratuity amount. I do tip even if the service is not great. It was the total bill that caught me off guard. I know everything costs more but nearly $50.00 for lunch. Wow. Doubt I'll return, many other good mexican food options to choose from. As I was walking back to the car I found myself thinking how I normally don't mind paying more for the food IF the service is outstanding. And I always tip accordingly. read more

On a recent pau hana happy hour, we originally planned to go to another place that was closed. Not really sure where to go, we decided to try Margaritas as the restaurant is open air with outdoor seating, yet covered from the afternoon sunshine. We had a great time due to delicious food and a great server Toni. The restaurant is set out with two bars, one mauka, one makai. Around the front are tables of various sizes for small to large parties. All are along the street and sidewalk, so it's a great place to enjoy the cool evenings. Happy hour is from 3pm to 6pm daily, which is discounted margaritas and tacos. Tuesdays the happy hour is all day as well! We were seated at a cozy table away from the direct sunshine; menu is on a QR code. They specialize in margaritas (their beer selection is small, but more are coming). They have appetizers, specialty tacos, full entrees, and dessert. We ordered a variety of foods thinking we'd need more but all ended up too full to continue. The food was excellent, although I felt it was a little too salty, probably to get you to drink more. We started with the salsa sampler: 3 types with chips. We ordered the chili relleno over rice and beans with ample cheese - I think this was my favorite. The elote was delicious and served more as a hearty salsa with chips, making this easy to eat and share (as opposed to being on the cob). To finish we each ordered a taco: Baja fish and steak. All items are a bit on the small portion size but made up for in richness and flavor. Even with the discount, it was a bit pricey; however, this would be a great place for pau hana drinks and light food. Really not for sure what's up with this place. We came around dinner time, it was not very busy which is fine. We ordered queso, taco trio and chicken quesadilla off happy hour menu. The queso was the best part of this meal. The chicken had no seasoning or flavor and looked SO white as if they just boil the chicken. We also had bones in our chicken still which was unfortunate. So welcoming and personable! They were very attentive and made amazing recommendations. Also want to shout out the valet guys! So if you want a lemon drop martini- it's a no go. lol I had the Li Hing Mui Margarita. Nothing special. Food: Food was good. It is not the traditional huge plates of enchiladas with rice, beans etc. These are more small tapa type dishes. We started with the Salsa Sampler- very hot! Corn- plain but good. Guacamole-standard, then we had the birria tacos and I really enjoyed them! You get one small taco with a nice size cup of broth. I would highly recommend. All in all- cute place to go. After a medical appointment in town we decided to grab lunch at Margaritas. Parking is really scarce in this area but there is a valet lot next to the building which allows for 1 hour of free validated parking, plus $2 per additional hour. Margaritas has a relaxed and casual vibe. Service was friendly and efficient. Since it was midweek and a little past the lunch hour it wasn't crowded at all. We ordered burritos- a squash and zucchini one and steak. They were flavorful, but we both added guacamole on our burritos and could barely taste it. Not worth the additional charge. Hubs also ordered the house Margarita, rimmed with li hing mui salt. He enjoyed it. Overall I think it's a bit pricey for my preference considering your view is busy town traffic. The perfect pau hana place. We have seen this restaurant for years and always seem to forget about it when selecting where to go for dinner. Today we made a reservation on Yelp and tried it for our date night. We parked across the street (free) and walked over this July evening catching the tail end of their happy hour. Our reservation was not needed since they were nearly empty and we were seated right away by friendly staff members. Our waitress Jade was particularly kind and helped us make selections from the menu. We tried the Lilikoi and pink guava margaritas on the happy hour menu. Out of the two we would recommend the Lilikoi one. For our meal we tried the enchilada and a burrito. The burrito can be served as a burrito bowl with the tortilla on the side if you prefer. Both were good, though I recommend the burrito for a better value. There are bathrooms behind the restaurant for customers with access codes available from the staff. This would be a great place to come with your coworkers or friends for happy hour. It was a bit loud for a date and was not romantic. I'd recommend planning your visit during the winter months as it is all open air and quite hot in July, even with a margarita. read more

Went to pick up some things from another place nearby so decided to try margaritas for lunch. Just me, hubs, and baby. Baby at the head of the table in a high chair so we could tag team her and feed off our plates...plus everyone knows, "nobody puts baby in the corner. " Start with margs - lihing for me, regular for hubs. Pretty weak and could have used an extra shot of tequila in there, but I liked they went heavy on the lihing. Water for baby. She loved the metal cups, probably b/c they're cold. Pupus - Queso. No meats, just queso. JUUUUUUNK. Tasty and suuuper salty, but gritty. Not fully melted but very liquidy and texture was almost like grated cheese...gritty. Disappointed since I loooooove queso. Chips very thick so could withstand the cheese liquidness. Steak fajitas for the hubs. Do you want to add shrimp? No thank you. Food comes out and it's a platter of shrimp. He dropped and ran and we were concerned about the sizzling platter so close to the baby we didn't even realize what it was. Had to flag him down to correct the order. Hubs said steak pieces too thick...not soft enough to easily bit into, so thinner would have been easier. I ate his leftover slices the next day and was tasty...and smaller pieces so fairly soft. Baja Fish and Shrimp Tacos for me. Table next to me had a nice big piece of fish...perfect to share the inside with the baby, I thought. Mine was not that big. So less food, but still had to share. Fish bland, but with everything not bad. Shrimp taco had 3 shrimps. Okay size. Pretty tasty overall...baby enjoyed shrimp, fish, both flour and corn tortillas. It's definitely not the streets of Cancun type authentic food, but not terrible. Pretty pricey considering it's "mexican" food. The food was decent at most. I got the shrimp and fish taco with a side of rice and beans. The shrimp had no flavor and the pickled cabbage it was paired with didn't add any bonus points. The fish was the better taco, I liked the chipotle crema it came with. The arroz was really mushy and had a strange taste to it, too fragrant for my liking. Booked Rez on Yelp for 6:00 pm after the Happy Hour crush, but it was still packed when we arrived. Would recommend booking around 6:30 when the place empties out. She took our order right away and made sure we were informed of when our drinks would be served, the chips and salsa. The place was hopping but we didn't feel at all ignored because they all made sure we knew when our food would be coming up. The food was good. My friend ordered the chicken enchiladas and it came with beans and rice, very delicious and salsa on the side. I just had the chicken quesadillas which were chock full of chicken and salsa / sour cream on the side. I like how they bring a big cold bottle of water so we can refresh as needed and Jade made sure she filled it up again. Also did a great job of clearing out plates in a timely manner and checking back if we wanted another drink. Not sure why some of the reviews are bad because we've come here a lot and every time it's been great. I love the valet parking - the gentlemen who help us are always welcoming, friendly and efficient. They give you a claim ticket with another pink ticket. When you come out after your meal, there's a pay to park machine and valet are helpful to do it for you so that you get the discount. Usually it's $6 but with their discount it's $4. And last night was the first time I saw the parking garage when we waited for car because it's like a vending machine. You can watch in the window when your car is brought down by a machine! So cool! I 100% recommend this place to anyone who wants really great food, the most amazing margaritas you will ever have in your life, and a great vibe with pretty natural decor.
