    Braised beef bowl with guacamole
    Kylie S.

Ordered delivery from here a few weeks ago, I had the braised beef bowl + guacamole. It was good! Also had a side of chips and guac which was yummy. One of my coworkers was missing his Mexican brownie that he ordered and another burrito was completely missing, but this was probably an error on Doordash's behalf.

The parking lot is a little stressful on a pretty busy intersection but there's quite a few stalls. I finally got a chance to stop in to this cute place. The employees were friendly and I was pleasantly surprised I could get a Modelo with my grilled steak salad. It came with lettuce and black beans and salsa. I upgraded and got a scoop of guacamole. There are a few tables inside to eat at and they seemed to have a lot of take out orders. Salad was good but I wasn't too impressed. Maybe ill go and try something else next time.

Saw this place had a happy hour; so I was super excited. Thinking to myself some queso and chips or appetizers and a margarita sounds delicious. Heard mexican music playing, was getting in the spirit. Walked up steps to the next level only to be disappointed, it was just like a chipotle. I thought this originally was more like a legit mexican restaurant. I looked around and decided I didn't want any food; and we'll just get one drink each and then take off. It was kinda expensive still for it being happy hour. I think we were some of the oldest people here; seems like more of a hangout for teens or families.

Steak bowl with only 1 scoop of rice and lettuce added - yum. Good serving for $14.

I'm not sure why this place has poor reviews - maybe it depends on the day. Our server was nice, food was fast and tasty, and the prices were not unreasonable for Honolulu Mexican - I've certainly paid more here for less good food and smaller portions. The steak (nice char), carnitas (more like kalua pork but still tasty), and fish (grilled nicely, not like some of the other posts) were all actually better than I expected to be honest. There are two rice choices and two bean choices and although simple, I appreciate that they weren't over salted - flavor comes from the protein and ample choice of freshly made salsas. Total was $84 post tip for 4 meals (plus 1 churros) but we're full and this is just what it costs for a lunch out these days. Honolulu is pretty underwhelming for Mexican and this may be the best I've found. I would skip the churros next time though as they were overfried and greasy.

Today I have tried the chicken burrito and the food was so fresh and healthy. The ingredients were fresh and I felt really good after eating and it was very tasty. The service was great, they were so helpful and friendly.

I got the grilled steak bowl as I'm not a fan of tortilla wraps. The bowl was pretty huge and had a good assortment of ingredients. I got the Spanish rice with black beans and grilled steak. It was topped with lettuce and sour cream. I added a side of guacamole. Everything tasted great together. The bowl was full of different flavors. The steak was seasoned with chipotle. There was a lot of gristle in the steak however. They do state that they use free-range grass fed beef. I washed it down with a pineapple Jarritos drink. Those sodas are so good and very carbonated.

25% off Kamaaina Thursdays! Called to see if they still offer their 25% off Thursdays. A very friendly worker answered to inform me they offer it for walk ins only. Decided to make my way over for lunch. Initially I saw some poor reviews and thought that some might be mixed up with their Waikiki location. The service at their Kaimuki location is quite friendly and efficient. The food is decent. I ordered the bowl with half steak half braised beef. Added guacamole and an extra salsa, along with a combo of chips, salsa, and can juice($4). The braised beef has more flavor than the steak, steak was dry and tasted overly smoky. Their medium salsa isn't very spicy at all, I'd probably get spicy next time. It was about $17 with the 25% off. The bowl was huge especially with the additional chips. There is parking available but the lot is quite small and can fill up fast. There are tables available to dine in.

I ordered a burrito with steak and there is absolutely no meat in my burrito. Whoever made the burrito forgot the steak and it's really disappointing as I absolutely hate leaving bad reviews. I placed an order at the Kaimuki location around 8:20 PM and by the time I got back home with my order, it was 9 PM and the Kaimuki was already closed so I couldn't go back.

First, being Hawaii, decent means not using pasta sauce to replace pico, not using shredded processed cheese, and not using refried beans from a can. Don't think of comparing this to that "authentic ethnic" spot in LA or the over border drunken stint in TJ. All the requisites from tortas, burritos, tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, sopas including pozole and menudo, on offer. Complimentary C&S, just OK. Kinda soggy chips and the watery salsa doesn't much depth despite being fire roasted and not much spice heat. No complaints on the basic rice and refried beans that accompanied the large, stuffed trio of chicken empanadas (usually comes with two, add an additional for $5). Flavorful enough but not that complex mole. They are finished off with some sour cream, raw onions and crumbled cotija. Solid. Fast, friendly service with servers who seem to know their regulars well. Fair pricing with almost everything sub $30. It is what it is. Not bad for Hawaii and works to scratch the Mexican itch.

My son crushed it and even used their mild salsa, which is wild because he thinks everything is spicy. My burrito had great flavor and the asada was legit. I even called home for extra orders so everyone could try it. They loved it too. This spot isn't in our usual area, but I'm glad we found it because it's hard to find solid burritos in Hawaii.

I enjoyed each item though not my favorite, it's hard to find good Mexican or Hispanic foods here on island. The enchiladas were okay, I prefer shredded chicken over diced. I do have to say it was consistent from this visit from my last. My friend said the fish tacos were huge and good. And then I remembered I actually had them before but they weren't memorable I guess, found the pictures in my phot Lamin from about a year ago. Another friend raved that their nachos are amazing but I didn't try them. Service was pretty quick and the line was easily controlled. Some language barrier, my Spanish for ordering food is minimal at best. It's a street taco spot on the side of the road. You can park at the business parking lot next to it but there is not a lot of real estate. There's a picnic table and couple chairs and tables to sit at in the shade so there isn't really any ambiance to tell you about.
