This is one of the food trucks located at the beginning of Kalakaua in Waikiki. If you're driving into Waikiki you can't miss it. It's a whole bunch of food trucks parked together. Out of all the food trucks there, this one seemed to be the most busy. We ordered the Mexi-Bowl with steak $13.99 and a Soft Taco with chicken $3.99. They were both tasty and the food is authentic. This was actually the hubby's dinner and I just sampled. I don't really like soft tacos. I like my tacos crispy which isn't authentic, lol. They had different condiments on the table. My hubby put the green chili sauce on the food and it made it extra spicy. If you're into spicy foods, don't forget the green hot sauce. read more

I came here to grab a quick bite in Waikiki. I've seen some of their ads for their torta on my Instagram but I didn't get a chance to try it as they were almost out of cheese. WE got one burrito and 5 tacos. The burrito was good, they used the last bits of cheese to a make a cheese crust on the inside which made the burrito really enjoyable (flavor and texturally). The tacos were NOT good, the meat was dry and the whole thing just really lacked flavor (despite being the same protein as the one in the burrito). I think the toppings in the burritos and the cheese crust especially helped to really save it. I don't think Id go out of my way for it, but I think if I was in Waikiki and craving a burrito I may go for it. For the tacos though... I would avoid. read more

The beans are some of the best I have eaten and the sour cream had a hint of lime. The burrito was grilled to a golden perfection and 10 inches long. The salsa will set your face on fire. Located amongst several food trucks, we specifically sought out Tacos Don Chema after trying the last time we were in Hawaii. We were disappointed when we went to one of their trucks and they ran out of propane. Went to their 2nd truck which was not far and so glad we did. I had the potato torta and my friend had a carne asada torta and we both REALLY liked it! We got a potato burrito just to try and share, it wasn't my favorite. I am not a fan of burritos with rice because it's just a filler....no need for the rice. But the tortas are definitely worth the walk...they are so good! Great food. Had the $13.00 dollar burrito bowl. Grilled Chicken, pinto beans, spanish rice, cilantro, white onion and seasoning. Chicken was nice and tender. Beans were also. Veggies were fresh and crispy and the rice had a few dry grains but I can live with that. All the other food trucks also looked very appetizing but I could only fit one meal. So if ever in waikiki area, I recommend these food trucks highly. read more

Parked in a food truck area this truck has delicious tacos and quesadillas. Unfortunately at the time we were there the only drinks were soft drinks. They have three types of sauces and a few topping options such a jalapeños with napkins and forks in front that you can grab once you get your meal. I came across this place and finally decided to try it, sadly the expectations of what looked like a good place for Mexican food became a huge disappointment, the burrito was small, stuffed with rice and beans, hardly any meat in it. It looks like they use a conventional tortilla for what I prefer to call an overstuffed taco, the price is very high for the amount of food you get, and the only consolation was the creamy habanero salsa, which made more palatable my meal, at a whopping $15.99. Service was slow it took their people about 5 min to notice I wanted to order food. The atmosphere is a relaxed open place with multiple trucks to choose from. I will not be coming back to this place anytime soon. Hopefully, you will have a better experience than me if you venture to give this food truck a try. read more

Avoid. Ordered a steak (asada) taco. Small size for $5, tortilla was like warm, and steak dry. Took 10 minutes, and they gave my food out to someone else. Guy then asks me if I need something else-- which I don't even understand since he didn't even call my name, so I tell him I'm still waiting on my taco. Guy then was about to go get my taco from the previous customer, so I quickly tell him that I'm not going to eat food he already gave out. After that took him 30s to remake me a taco. Coming from Austin, which has a Mexican food truck in every corner, I thought his truck wouldn't be able to compare. But every bite of this was absolutely delicious. I originally wanted the carne asada quesadilla, but since they were all out of carne asada, I settled for the adobada (marinated pork) quesadilla. I'm so happy I got to try their adobada, because it was fantastic. I added some of their green salsa and avocado salsa, and again both are so good. So much flavor in each bite. It was definitely better than expected and I'd go back again. I had tried their shredded pork tacos. Quantity, taste everything was just right. Their salsa collection was fresh and delicious. The downside of this location is there's no parking and it's almost impossible to find one. Everytime we wanted to visit this truck location, we had to walk 20 ish min just to get here. The prices are high but it fits the location so no biggie. The service was friendly and super accommodating. We visited on a rainy night so can't comment much on the atmosphere but it was in the middle of food truck corner with picnic tables & variety of other vendors. We just stood under the umbrella waiting for our food. Made small talk with the owner since he quickly spotted we might be from out of town. Turns out we're from neighbor towns in California. Avoid this taco truck. I never leave reviews because I never have bad enough experiences, but this is the most horrible experience with a business I've ever had. The customer service was horrible, they told my boyfriend they were completely out of burritos so he ordered the torta instead. Another customer came by asked for a burrito they said they were closed and we were the last order, 5 minutes later as we're waiting for our food he took a woman's order for 2 burritos with no problem, and another woman after that. My boyfriend had ordered the exact same thing and they said they were "out". As for the food, the torta is basic and doesn't have much flavor. It's very greasy due to the cheese crust and meat. I also ordered the shrimp taco and that was worse than the torta. The shrimp had 0 flavor and was drenched in sauce. The sauce was the only thing giving it flavor, it didn't seem like the shrimp was seasoned or grilled at all. Left a horrible fishy taste in my mouth and the sauce left the tortilla soggy. I also ordered the horchata and let me tell you, it's definitely not horchata. It didn't taste like it had any cinnamon, so it really tasted like sugar and milk.
