I love breakfast so of course I'm going to love this place. The place is clean, the food was good but not great. My son's waffles were cold when brought to the table but it didn't seem to stop him for scarfing them down. I had the huevos rancheros and liked it, it wasn't the best I have ever had but I would definitely order it again. The food came out quickly and the service was decent. We went for breakfast, yesterday, and I ordered milk with mine. My husband ordered the Santa Fe Huevos and, when it came, there was a greenish-brown blob where the guacamole goes. He asked what this brown stuff was and the waiter said it was guacamole. My husband then asked, "And you serve it like this?" To which the waiter responded by rolling his eyes and walking away. Seriously. He just walked away. My husband scraped the guacamole off and continued eating, while we laughed it off. Eventually, after I reminded him, the waiter brought my milk. I am not a breakfast person, I hate eggs and I'm not quite sure hate is a strong enough word. But the morning after the Conquer Chiari Walk Across America, my BFF and I woke up hungry so we came here for breakfast. I figured I could at least I could order a patty melt or a pancake while she enjoyed her breakfast. But we sat down, the menu opened to the middle section and her eyes hit three little words. PINEAPPLE. COCONUT. PANCAKE. We both closed our menus and there was no use looking any further. A few minutes later two plates with a single, plate-sized whole wheat pancake with pineapple chunks and toasted coconut and a bowl of vanilla cream sauce arrived at our table. And there were no more words spoken... until a waitress (not ours) came by the table to ask if she could have a bite. Um, yeah ok. Guess we ordered the best thing on the menu. So, when Becky was back in town on Nov 4th to help me move... I picked her up at the airport, picked my dad up at the apartment where he was getting together the last stuff that needed to be packed and we went back for more Pineapple Coconut Pancakes. Sadly, I moved completely on the other side of town from The Egg and I so I will have to keep dreaming of that pancake until I actually wake up early on a weekend or Becky comes back in town. read more

I took my boys here after Church last Sunday. I was afraid it would be crowded like Mama's Daughters' Diner across the street tends to be but it wasn't. They had some traffic for sure, but not crowded so we didn't have to wait, and unlike Mama's Daughters' Diner our meal was actually enjoyable. All of the wait staff was extremely friendly and so sweet and helpful with my little boys. I had the Viva La France french toast. My boys had a waffle with eggs and bacon. The food was good but not great (hence the 4 stars). This restaurant is small but quaint and locally owned and operated (which I like). I'd come back again because the ambiance and the staff were really nice and the prices were very affordable. read more

Second meal at this same location. First time ordered the Corned Beef hash. Today I ordered the Eggs Benedict, traditional, with the breakfast greens, very non- traditional. Both meals were excellent. Better yet, the portions were the perfect size. Full disclosure: I was doubtful about the breakfast salad. It paired nicely. It's a very basic assortment of greens with a house vinaigrette but the Eggs Benedict is complex enough. Especially after being doused with the Egg and I Sizzlin Hot Jalapeño Pepper Sauce, which I recommend. The Egg and I is a very good brunch option that I recommend to all breakfast enthusiasts. I'll get the egg puns out of the way first. I was eggstremely eggcited when the wife seggjested we eat at a new place. This doesn't happen much so I jumped on the bandweggon and egg egg egg. It's lunchtime and we just got out of church. The weather is nice - 70's and the wind is blowin' somethin' fierce outside. We would have asked for outside seating had it not been for the wind and once we sat down inside, we should have. For whatever reason, it was rather warm and humid inside and our waiter was sweating bullets but even so, he was super nice and helpful. Looking over the menu, each category of food has an egg icon to help you. The drinks have an egg with an umbrella. Or the pancakes and waffles have eggs sitting on a pancake. It's a nice touch. So the food. We look over the menu and the wife says, "Dude, *one* pancake is almost $5." We ask the waiter and he says, it's a big pancake roughly 10-12 inches in diameter. Yeah, it's about the size of 3 IHOP pancakes. I get the "Flapper" and it comes with one pancake, two eggs and 2 bacon or 2 sausage. I got one of each. It was delicious. I do have an affinity to pancakes so anything drenched in syrup is going to taste good and this was not an exception. The bacon was cooked perfectly - you know crisp, but still chewy, not brittle and not soggy. The sausage was good, but not perfect like the bacon. The whole meal was a little more than enough and just what I wanted. After consulting with our waiter, the wife gets the breakfast sundae and two eggs on the side. It's a parfait of fruit and yogurt and granola. She seemed to like it a lot. I'd go here again. It has a bunch of different breakfast and lunch foods so there are definitely other things to try. This is one of my favorite places in the Plano area!!! It is just a simple place that has this homey feel to it, so you can tell its family owned. My favorite thing to order here is the Avocado Toast with Scrambled eggs. Best. Ever. It is so good with the sea salt and lemon on top of thick, whole wheat bread! Excellent location and great restaurant. I have been to this location several times. Everything tastes great. Last visit to this restaurant was Sunday, 3-15-2015 about 12:15 pm. Though the restaurant was extremely busy, service was excellent and fast. We waited about 10 to 15 minutes to be seated. I ordered the Belgian Waffle from the "Favorites" list. The food was excellent - this waffle is really good! However, I do think The Egg and I restaurant chain should consider changing how this meal is plated. The waffle, the eggs, and the bacon are all served together on one large platter. So the first decision the customer has to make is "Do I really want my eggs and bacon in the syrup?" My answer is a resounding NO! So I decided to very quickly eat the eggs, hoping the waffle would stay warm. The bacon, I put on the top edge of the platter, out of the way of the syrup. The waffle did stay mostly warm. The reason I did not ask for a second plate was that the waiter did not return to my table to ask if everything was okay. I tried to get his attention but failed. As mentioned, the restaurant was extremely busy. So, dear restaurant chain, why don't you serve this as you do the biscuit and gravy platter? With this platter the biscuit and gravy are in an additional bowl centered on the platter. This is presumably to keep the gravy from getting on the eggs or the potatoes. I personally wouldn't mind so much about gravy on my potatoes or maybe even on the eggs. So if you're so careful to keep those items separated from gravy (which doesn't run nearly as much as syrup), why aren't you concerned about keeping the eggs separated from syrup? Please consider changing the way the Belgian waffle is served and get five stars. read more

I ordered through Ubereats and had it delivered, so my review will be strictly related to the food experience. The food was okay. It took longer to be prepared than expected. It was scheduled to be delivered at 10:45 and wasn't even ready to be picked up until almost 11. When the food arrived, I was pleased with the proportions. I was pleased with the presentation. However the taste left something to be desired, it was bland. The Hiker's Benedict was okay overall. It was not bad but it was not especially good. The hollandaise sauce was absolutely excellent. The Breakfast Burrito was pretty good-ish. It was nothing to write home about. The green chili salsa was missing, which is a shame because it was the best thing I tasted overall. Oh, the side potatoes were very tasty. I liked them a lot. The Mexican Skillet was the best thing I ordered, unfortunately it was missing the eggs. This dish however did have the pork green chili salsa, which I got to try, and it was delicious. Probably the best part of the meal. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars, but you've just gotta blow my socks off to get that rating. I ate here for the first time this morning. The menu was pretty exciting, fairly extensive and catering to BOTH types of breakfast lovers...those who want dessert for breakfast, and those who like some savory substance. I ordered the huevos rancheros, primarily because it came with pork chili verde...perhaps my favorite substance on the planet. I mention this first because it was the only disappointing part of the experience...it came on a flour tortilla (should be corn to stay traditional, but whatever floats your boat!) and the chili verde had a canned flavor and the porn had a canned texture. (I'm guessing this means they get their chili verde in a can.) The potatoes on the side were absolutely superb...crisp and flavorful without a trace of grease. Maybe the best "home fries" I've found anywhere! My partner ordered the fall special...pumpkin pecan waffles. Being a fairly advanced home chef myself (I've been on national TV for cooking) who is particularly obsessed about cooking with pumpkin, I was COMPLETELY blown away. It's as if someone had crammed an entire pumpkin pie into a waffle iron...the flavor and texture were quite simply astounding. Nothing like a waffle...and yet obviously a waffle. My partner ordered their signature turkey sausage on the side, and it was also a total surprise. Exceptionally moist and fatty for a turkey sausage, perfectly seasoned, and one of the most delicious breakfast sausages I've EVER eaten. The coffee was served in a refill-yourself carafe on the table, but unfortunately BOTH carafe refills were lukewarm. The coffee was good...we had the Rainforest Robust blend...I just would have preferred it to be either hot or iced, not tepid. We sat on the patio, which was nice...albeit a bit alarming looking across the parking lot at one of the largest mega-churches in the world. Ate here last Saturday on a rainy morning and barely had to wait more than 5 mins for a table. We had great service and the flavored coffee (hazelnut) was good. They also offer low fat skim milk in addition to half and half etc, so that made me happy. Hubby had the wheat pancakes that were bigger than my head, with fruit in them, they were delish. My plate was turkey sausage, 2 eggs, and an english muffin. Had to send the muffin back because it was soaked SOAKED in butter, but the waittress gladly brought me another toasted no butter one in a jiffy. I also soaked the oil/butter off the plate before I started eating it, but I can't complain because we're not at home and therefore I really can't always make sure it's exactly the way I want it prepared. If you know me you'll know I'm a huge breakfast fan, feel like I've missed out on something if I don't have breakfast plus no one wants to me hangry Bridget! You guessed it out and about with my daughter and grandson and decided to try this place out. The wait was about 20 minutes which is not a surprise considering it was Sunday morning after church and this location was directly across the street from Prestonwood Baptist Church. Once seated the service was great, the waitress was very friendly and attentive, especially to my grandson. Our food came in a matter of minutes. The has browns or as I call them skillet potatoes are delicious as was the omelette and the dollop of sour cream was a great compliment to the omelette as the waitress told us it would be. Glad we made the decision to give this place a try. One highlight to my visit was the manager walking around greeting and talking to guest, and even serving food you don't see this often anymore. read more

My wife and I ate here on a Saturday morning. There was about a 15 minute wait, which gave us hope that the place was good because it was popular. Unfortunately, compared to other breakfast places near us, this place was o.k., but not "very good" or "excellent". They offer a wide variety of breakfast entrees: skillets, omelets, frittatas, pancakes, waffles, french toast; plus lunch sandwiches. We ordered pancakes and french toast with bacon and eggs. My wife likes her eggs over-easy, and they arrived too cooked. My scrambled eggs were a bit rubbery, but o.k. I didn't like the fact that my French toast had a strong cinnamon taste - but it was acceptable. Other issues were that it took quite a while to get our food, once ordering - more than at other popular breakfast places we frequent. All in all, it was an o.k. experience, but not exceptional; and not as good as other places near by. I doubt we will be back. read more

I checked out this place for lunch this past weekend and was impressed. I can tell they are kind of new because there were a few flaws, but the food was amazing and more than made up for it. I ordered the Triple Play with a cup of homemade soup (white chicken chili) with half an arizona turkey sandwich (no avocado) and a house salad. The food seemed to take a really long time and they weren't packed so I didn't quite understand the delay, and while I was waiting for my food I noticed that my fork wasn't exactly sparkly clean. No big deal I just asked for another one when the waitress stopped by. When our food finally arrived my sandwich had the avocado I had asked to be excluded so I had to send it back. It was worth the wait when I finally got my food. The salad was fresh and crisp, the soup was FANTASTIC and the sandwich was pretty good for a turkey sandwich. I saw lots of breakfast-y things passing by our table and everything looked great. I'm sure I will be back here soon. read more
