    ground lamb enchilada
    Christine M.

Super easy to get seated on a saturday afternoon. What stood out about this place was the fun fusion of flavors and warm, welcoming waiter. Enchiladas were yummy and satisfying, not super heavy or large portion but tasty. Rose mango ravioli was very unique. It was creamy and I'd say the rose and mango paired well together. Both dishes made the perfect sweet and savory combo.

We asked the waiter what the dish was we saw online and he said it's not on the menu. He said it's blackened chicken and they can make it zero spicy to extra spicy. He said it has grilled vegetables and basmati rice. The picture looked amazing so I ordered it. The sauce was delicious. Half of the chicken was tender and unfortunately the other half was not. I don't like it when stems of the vegetables are not removed. I think it takes away from the dish. The vegetables were grilled which I enjoyed. Great tasting rice. Service was very good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant has a low vibe at lunch time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Avatars ended up being the best kind of unexpected find. I walked in not knowing what to expect and left genuinely impressed with the service, the food, and the whole experience were outstanding. Every dish felt thoughtful and fresh, and the staff made the meal feel personal in a way you don't get often anymore. I tried something new here and loved it enough that I'm already planning to bring my whole family back soon. It's rare to leave dinner feeling inspired, but Avatars absolutely delivered. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great photo decor and vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have both indoor/outdoor seating areas.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend.

We saw the menu and were intrigued so we came to check it out. The mushroom app was really flavorful. The curry was delicious and the paratha were necessary to soak it all up! The mango rose ravioli was super unique. The sauce was creamy and the slight sweetness of the rose and mango paired well. The enchiladas were delicious! It was mashed sweet potato inside and the creamy texture with the flavorful sauce was a nice pairing! The dessert was fine, but I was a little underwhelmed and disappointed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a nice outdoor seating area which is great on a warm summer afternoon.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was fine and I appreciated that he wanted to put in our order before a larger party. It was really confusing to order the enchiladas because we wanted to mix and match but he didn't understand that at first and when he did, he said we couldn't do that. We ordered veggies on the side and got rice instead so they had to remake it. Another server asked if we wanted paratha with our app and we figured it was one order but they just ordered a double portion. I had heard mixed reviews about the service and I would agree with those.

It's been several years since I wrote a review on Avatar's, and I figured it was time that I update my thoughts. The flavors of the entrees continue to be incredible. The proteins are cooked well, and the vegetables still have a bit of crunch -- which I love because I cannot stand soggy vegetables. Service continues to be excellent. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is well decorated and inviting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is indoor and outdoor seating depending on your preference and the weather.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While there is a menu you can order from, you can also ask the owner to make you a dish based on the protein, veggies, and spice level you would like. A few logistic things: There's a free parking lot, and you can order food to pick up ahead of time.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Neat little spot![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Owner was very welcoming and accommodating, including allowing me to mix and match the proteins in my enchiladas! Ended up eating here two days in a row, including bringing a group of friends who were recording at a nearby record studio the following day. Interesting menu choices, so everyone should be able to find something they enjoy!

    Perfect samosas!

Honestly, Avatar's is my husband and I's favorite Indian(ish) restaurant in the Bay Area. Their samosas are always so delicious and perfectly crispy on the outside with amazing sauces, and we love getting their off-menu basmati rice dishes with a combo of sea bass and prawn. They don't use oil, dairy, gluten, and my body always feels so clear and clean after I eat here! There's so much love in the food. Highly, highly recommend!

Great customer service! Everybody there was so sweet and friendly. Food was delicious! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We usually go to the mill valley location which is more of a grab and go but this location is perfect for a sit down lunch date![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Delicious spot for a punjabi burrito! The whole wheat wrap was not too thick and there was a nice ratio of curry meat, pickled vegetables and rice. The curry itself was great - the tamarind really comes through giving the sweet and tangy flavor, very enjoyable.

Food is amazing with a twist. We ordered curried rock shrimp, seasonal mixed vegetables with fish, dal curry and home made pasta for kids. The staff is nice. Helped us with everything the kids needed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice cozy restaurant on the way to San Francisco.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely recommend as I'll be going again.

"Rock Shrimp in Fresh Chutney" but its small white shrimp which is misleading and fraudulent
    Dietrich K.

Pains me to give them this rating, the owner here is very nice, however he seems reluctant to change for bad items and mistakes. The other day I ordered 2 mango lassis and a rock shrimp chutney. Mango Lassis were amazing, smooth, rich, and creamy. However the rock shrimp were not rock shrimp. They were sad tiny little bay shrimp instead. I let him know the next day and after refusing a refund I got replacement items, another 2 mango lassis and samosa chaat. On top of this he showed me the "rock shrimp" they use, which turned out to be a frozen bag of white shrimp. I advised him to fix it on the menu but not sure he will do that. When i got home and tastes the new mango lassis, i noticed a drastic difference from yesterdays. Todays was very sour and bad and I wont risk getting sick on bad yogurt. I called him to let him know first but he just said thats how it is. So if how it is, is misleading customers and serving food/drinks that can get people sick, then I have to advise anyone to either go somewhere else or be very critical of things you eat here for your safety.

Empty plates = happy hearts! Avatar in Sausalito is a flavor explosion you don't want to miss. No menu needed--just tell Ashok Kumar what you're craving, and he'll create magic. A true fusion gem!

Great food and service! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very warm, welcoming atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend. The menu is Punjabi fusion. There are Mexican fusion dishes, like the Punjabi enchiladas. These are very popular and quite good. You can choose almost any kind of meat or veggie (except pork), and you can specify how spicy you like it. We chose spicy shrimp, and they were delicious! We also split the yoghurt chicken, which came out looking more like a mole or a curry because of the cashew mango chutney sauce. The chicken was incredibly tender and delicious. The veggies were wonderful. Both dishes came with basmati rice with peas. So soft and fluffy, with a hint of saffron. Loved it! Also, we started with samosas, which were crunchy on the outside, filled with tasty potatoes and peas on the inside. So good! My friend and I ordered sabe cocktails, which was the only thing we did not love. Ashok (the owner) came to greet us and answered all our questions. While we considered what to order, Ashok was chatting away with locals who have been coming to Avatar's for years. He seemed to know their families and favorite foods. So nice to see! Parking is easy to find in the lot, especially when Bank of Marin is closed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very cozy seat set up, mostly tables for two.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, enjoyed this place and will be coming back. I wish I had discovered this place much sooner.

Despite the Friday night chaos (seriously, where did all these hungry people come from?), we scored a table faster than you can say 'table for four!' We went full family-style and ordered enough food to feed a small army: Crispy Angel Wings - sweet, spicy, finger-lickin' good, and frankly, slightly addictive. If there's a rehab for wings, sign me up. BBQ Pork Garlic Noodles - so packed with garlic you might ward off vampires for a week. (Worth it!) Braised Beef Short Ribs - the coconut tomato curry was so good it could probably solve world peace. Or at least a hangry meltdown. Burmatown Bao - the kids inhaled these little taco-bun hybrids before we could even steal a bite. Blink and you'll miss them! Our waitress was a total rockstar--friendly, fast, and somehow able to remember our complicated order without writing it down. Superpowers? Maybe. No regrets, no complaints. Just happy bellies, a lingering craving for more wings, and a unanimous family decision: we'd come back in a heartbeat... if we're ever in Corte Madera again!

It's located downtown next to the movie theater, if you're facing the theater, it's on the right-hand side. There was a sign on the door saying cash-only and no dine-in. I had cash and we were planning to take it to-go anyway, so that part didn't bother us. But oh my goodness... the staff needs improvement. Please address it ASAP. The vibe was not welcoming at all and felt very unprofessional. I could hear screaming and shouting coming from the kitchen from one of the younger girls, who honestly looked pretty mean. She was also taking orders. Thankfully, she wasn't the one who helped us, another girl took our order. Their POS was down and they said they accepted cash or Zelle, so we paid with Zelle. The girl told me, "Show it to me when you pay it," which I did. THANK GOODNESS I paid with Zelle. (I'll get to that). We ordered two salt & pepper wings and an order of garlic noodles to-go. The noodles came out first, so we sat down to wait for the wings. I noticed there were people dining in, so I guess the "no dine-in" sign wasn't accurate. When our wings were ready, we went up to grab them. The girl who took our order loudly asked in a rude tone, "DID YOU PAY?" It was embarrassing because everyone heard, and could've been handled so differently. I told her yes and pulled up the Zelle confirmation, the SAME one she had asked me earlier to show her. She clearly forgot and didn't make a note of it. Honestly, I can't imagine if I had paid cash. I wouldn't have had a receipt or any proof. So if you go here and their machines are down again... pay with Zelle. While we were there, I noticed a mother and daughter who had been waiting even before we arrived and still had no food. When we went up to get our wings, the daughter walked up to the counter very upset and said, "Give me back my money. We've been here for an hour and we were here before them." That pretty much confirmed everything about how chaotic things were. It felt like a total zoo in there. The system for handling orders and payments definitely needs work, especially with cash transactions. The tables were also dirty and could've used some attention. Additionally, the girl screaming in the kitchen shouldn't have happened. The wings? Still delicious. But the service and organization at this location really took away from the experience. The only parking available was at the garage across the street.
