Stopped by this cute spot . The owner was the sweetest and most encouraging woman I ever met . With this pandemic people are cold but she's so warm . The place is super cute and small and I love that . We got the apple loaf , lemon loaf , red velvet cupcake , the crumb cake . My favorite was def the apple loaf I absolutely loved it it was moist and not too sweet . Just a really beautiful taste . What I love is that she incorporates really cool ingredients like beets to get that natural coloring on the red velvet or using tumeric in the lemon loaf to get that nice color . I would always support her . You should too ! Go check her out :)

I found out about this establishment by going to another black owned business that let me know who makes there bread and I went on a scavenger hunt to locate the creator of this bread. Upon entering the establishment your invites in with the beautiful yellow and gold accent walls that instantly pull you in. Right in the heart of bed- stuy which I love because this in t my community. The owner Ava was so insightful, kind, helpful and pleasant to speak with! She educated me on the different variations of breads to choose from as well Ingredients & as how to ensure optimal freshness of the bread. I will be eating my rolls in the morning and for dinner. I love that she has created breads for vegans, vegetarians, and people who are alkaline! It's such a refreshing feeling to know I can come in my community to get good quality bread that taste SO GOOD! Thanks Ava for being so welcoming. You got a customer for life!

This small vegan bakery in Bedstuy has some of the best vegan pastries I've ever had and the staff are always very friendly. The ambience at Ava's is very welcoming. The bread is baked freshly on the premises, a must have.

I was walking down Dekalb and noticed Ava's Lifeline. I seen Vegan treats and automatically walked in. First the owner was so sweet and inviting, I found out she was from Trinidad so that was a Major Plus ! I bought the Carrot cake and Lemon loaf ... 10 out of 10, I definitely recommend! I can't wait to visit again!!!

Truly a hidden gem! II got to try some of the freshly baked biscuits right out of the oven. They reminded me of a (much better) vegan version of a Hot Pocket, as they were savory and had some filling. I also had a cup of coffee, which was made with oat milk and agave. The biscuits were delicious, and the coffee was so good. The best part of the visit was that I got to meet Ava herself, and she shared some insight about the history of her business. They have been open since 2020, selling freshly baked goods, and they also do custom orders for items such as cakes. Ava also shared that she provides the pizza mix for Flavors Vegan Pizzeria. I haven't heard of them yet but now I'll definitely check them out as well. I can't wait to come back and try some sweets. read more

Ava's Lifeline is literally a life line for me!!!!! I am gluten intolerant and I am a vegan!!!!! I have not tried any of the sweet offerings yet but I will 100% but I did order a gluten free loaf of bread. Ava was so helpful, she is super nice and friendly and professional and she explained the ingredients to me and how to order and when to pick up etc. I just picked up my loaf and have had a slice just with a simple spread of vegan butter.....OMG!!!!!!! It is DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!! The loaf is enormous and I can slice it and freeze it and it will go a very long way...........now the test is not to eat it all now. It is SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Ava, thank you Ava's I will be back for sure. I highly recommend this bakery for sweet treats or bread with or without gluten. This is a neighborhood GEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

This place is so great! Ava is very kind and has amazing customer service. The strawberry shortcake cupcake was amazing in terms of flavor and was incredibly moist. My only complaint was that the frosting was melted but it tasted so good I didn't really care. I also had the coffee cake and I wish it had a bit more cinnamon flavor. Overall I highly recommend for vegan baked goods! There's minimal inside seating. read more

Ava is SO NICE and her bread is SO GOOD. We need more angels like this! Also lots of nut free options for fellow problematic allergy kids. I don't have a huge sweet tooth so probably will just be coming back for the bread, but the scones are also excellent. read more

The turmeric multigrain bread is no joke. We literally just got home with our first ever loaf like... fifteen minutes ago? and my partner and I have already eaten half a loaf! And it's a biiiig loaf! Makes incredible avocado toast. I would highly recommend not bringing a loaf home if you live alone unless your self control is next level. Best shared with friends for your own good. We also got the chocolate chip cookie and the lemon loaf which were so delicious. The shop itself is kind of sparse, unassuming, but don't let that fool you- everything is divine. Got two things here: 1. Red velvet cupcake - it was kind of not great. Lol the frosting was kinda mushy and didn't end up finishing it. 1/5, avoid. Maybe I got a bad batch. 2. Bread rolls - 3/5, pretty decent for the cheap price. I'd grab these again. The place seemed new and staff was nice but just don't think it was my vibe. Maybe I ordered the wrong food or just haven't had enough vegan desserts. read more

I don't often review places but I am motivated today. I bought the blueberry muffin and brownie at a restaurant and decided to look up the bakery brand because these are the best vegan pastries I've ever had. So good being moist and flavorful, it's hard to believe it's vegan. Looking forward to stopping at their home shop to see what other goodies they make. read more

Love everything they make. Started coming here for a healthier alternative for sweets for the kids. Now the whole family is hooked. The Blondie, Lemon Loaf, Carrot Cake, Crumb Cake and Oatmeal Raisin cookies are probably our favorites but I don't think I've had anything here I haven't liked. read more

The flavors are bangin'! The staff is so nice and the ambiance has a relaxing and grounding energy. The food is no-frills, pure amazing, healing flavor. I think the price was a little high for the portion size, but the quality of the food and the fact that they have to run their business, I understand. The kitchen is right in front and you can see the owner and staff making the food in real-time which is so homey, like another Yelper has said before. Me and other customers were even asked if we wanted more rice with our food which again reminds of loving home-cooked meals. Hope to come back often!

The sauces on our platters were also extremely flavorful, complementing the proteins in a beautiful way. All of us left Lakou Cafe feeling happy and satisfied with the portion sizes and level of quality. 10/10 I will definitely be heading back to this place the next time I'm in Brooklyn!
