I didn't know what to expect. I walked in wanting chips and salsa, but instead was met with an absolute "new school" flavor infusion! My palate Is completely overjoyed! A must order includes: samosas, fish tempura tacos and bread pudding! This Chef and staff were awesome read more

Excellent food but not cheap. The poutine appetizer is outstanding! I had the 3 tacos (Thai, Vietnamese, & TX Steak). The tacos were $5-7 each. Happy hour sucks, they choose one beer your allowed to order for $5 and they were out of it! They were out of other beers as well. I Don't think I would go here again. Service was great but a bit over priced for tacos. read more

Had a really great experience at Austin Taco Project. My friend and I were out having an excellent time and found ourselves here. Bartender Heather Henderson was amazing and ensured our night ended on a great note! Hope to be back in Austin soon to go again! read more

I have been in Austin for almost a week on business and have been waiting for that delicious taco, I found it here! We got the Korean ribs for an appetizer and they were amazing! So much flavor, falling off the bone, great crunch on the outside. Yum! Then I had the pollo taco and my friend had the patty melt taco (called something else on the menu but has patty melt sauce on it). Both were amazing! So flavourful. A little messy, but delicious! We both had the non- alcoholic frizz drink and that was really tasty! Overall great experience, good portions (not huge like most TX places) and great ambience. read more

Wow, the food here blew my mind! Wings were excellent, all the tacos were excellent and each was very uniquely flavored. Each taco was a completely different flavor experiment that just WORKED. I'm jealous of those people who live in Austin, this restaurant makes up for the terrible traffic congestion! read more

Avoid. Store bought guac. Exceptionally slow service. We did left after a dismal round of apps and pre-mixed drinks.

The entire experience was below service standards. When we got there and the host looked at us as if she didn't know where to seat us, so she said "let's put ya outside". As if to get us out of the way... We waited for 15min. before I finally went back to her to ask her if anyone was coming over to take our order. She seemed surprised that nobody had come over even thou the door to outside is next to where she was standing. We should've just left however we were all hungry. Needless to say, my rating isn't on the food considering that I don't even remember what I ate, or what anyone in my party ordered. read more

This place has some of the best tacos I have ever had. Each plate was well seasoned. The barbacoa was tender. The al pastor just filled with flavor. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because of the service. The severs were just really awkward. Our server came up to us and didn't say hello or anything or "do you guys want to start with waters" nothing. Overall, a place for great tacos, but weird service. read more

Overrated overrated overrated. Service was poor, and it wasn't packed. The server gave me zero attention, perhaps because I was dining alone? I ordered a $16 drink that was about 6oz of what tasted non-alcoholic. Ordered chips and guac and brisket tacos. It came out together. So much for an appy. Had to go to the bar to ask for another drink and I asked for a little alcohol in the next one. Unsuccessful. Two small brisket tacos were good, but my bill was $54 for two soft tacos, chips and guac, and two drinks that were essentially margarita mixer with ice. Never again. read more

What a great place! I'm visiting from Portland, Oregon and was looking for a place to eat nearby since a big thunderstorm rolled in. The food was phenomenal (forgot to take photos - I was so hungry), service was great (Robert was friendly, prompt, and very accommodating), and I even got to sit out on the covered patio and watch the storm. Wins all around! read more

Got the poutine, steakadilla, oc-Thai-pus, and barbocoa taco for my wife and I. All were amazing. Good flavor, good service, good size portions. Check, check, and check! What's even more impressive is that this is a Hilton restaurant. One other thing to add is that the tortillas for the tacos were very flavorful and different than normal tortillas and really enhanced the taste of the tacos. read more

Decent fish tacos. They don't have chips and salsa. Also, the only cheese available was melted queso. Easy to get to, right in the Hilton if you're at a conference. read more

A dining experience to say the least, the best tacos you can't possibly dream up. Everybody is super friendly and willing to help you get through all of the choices of great foods and beverages. It is a party in a taco and you will be eating off of each other's plates! read more

We chose this restaurant because they took reservations for large parties. We were pretty disappointed in this place. Our server was very very slow and our food took forever to come out. Our dinner took over 2 hours. After all the wait our tacos were average at best. We were a large party so I would understand that our order might take a bit longer but there weren't very many tables aside from ours. When the food did come one of the dishes had a hair in them. read more

Downloaded Yelp just to write this review. This place is atrocious. No guacamole at a taco place? Wtf? $7 for a bowl of chips after ordering queso is absurd. The waitress was super rude and passive aggressive, got sat in a room by ourselves with no music terrible lighting and terrible service. Would rate this place a 0 if I could. Do not go. read more

We came to Austin on business and were very intrigued by this restaurant! I'm so happy we set aside some time to check it out! I ordered the what-a-taco and it was like a burger in a flour tortilla. Robert was an awesome server and very informative! We will definitely be coming here again before heading back home! I wish I could give 10 stars! read more

Hours said til 1:30. If you are looking for late night they close early as we stopped here at midnight and they were closed.

Well tequila and soda = $12 which is the same as their most expensive custom cocktails which were disappointing. When our check came and we asked the waitress how that could be, she shrugged and said "I don't know" and walked away read more

Awesome food everything was great we started with the deviled eggs and street corn Mmmmm! The tacos were phenomenal.... I got the Good Morning Vietnam and the Wake up. My wife got the Baja X Austin and the Pineapple Express all were so good! Service was excellent food came out promptly and right on time with the appetizers. We will be back! read more

Place is just okay. It's in awkward place (across the station and in the Hilton). The tacos are not bad but there is nothing "Austin" or spectacular about them. Just a nicer El Torito. Place is big and empty, most geared towards business happy hours or people working in their laptops. The bartenders are nice but the drinks are small and sugary. I got the mango margarita and it was basically just the mixer. read more

Decor will catch your attention the minute you sit down ... really smart , innovative mix of old and new. Just makes you know will be a nice time. Staff is friendly attentive but not overbearing which makes for a nice relaxing time.. the menu which is tapas style allows you to try a lot of different things. The tacos of which rage from texmex to Korean to Indian to Thai are creative and large ( order three) you and your date can share .. I can eat a lot and ordered 3 and it was food overload. Had one called Wakeup that was brisket quite possibly the best taco I have had in my life.. ( don't be scared of the blueberry ghost pepper sauce it was perfect and not hot at all) another called the good morning Vietnam that had more things going on than you can believe in a taco was my second choice and one called Wilbur n huevos was my third choice which was mojo pork with a small egg with onion and cilantro.. my least favorite of the three but still very good and one of the most flavorable tacos I have had. Summary nice atmosphere great service great food.. only suggestion would be make tacos a little smaller and put two per order would make it a lot easier to share.. read more

It was pretty bad. It was on open table to we booked a reservation. Food was cold when it came out. I got the buffalo chicken taco that I bit into and it was raw. The waiter was nice but I watched him tell the manager and the manager didn't come up to us to apologize at all. So many other places to eat, don't make the same mistake as us. read more

Spot on gourmet tacos. Fish taco was excellent as was the al pastor. Excellent service, outdoor seating what more could you want.

Stopped here on a whim before taking the train after SXSW. The tacos we're great, the ambiance was lacking

Visited for happy hour when I was in town for work. For drinks, we had margaritas. They're on draft and $5 during happy hour! And so good! Also had a couple tacos. I opted to try some variations that strayed from the norm. I tried both the vegetarian and lamb tacos. They were just ok. My advice would be to stick with the the more classic versions if you're looking for tacos. Bar service was great. read more

The shrimp tacos are possibly worth $2 a piece... but for $15 you'd expect some kind of sides or salsas or anything to make it a legit meal. The menu reads "Thai basil" but no fresh herbs or hint of their flavor are discernible on the plate. Two tacos on chewy, overly thick wheat tortillas come out on a sad-looking plate with two lime slices and some unevenly shredded carrot sticks. It's a place that caters to the hotel/convention center crowd. For those who prioritize convenience and a place to have a conversation while expensing their lunch. I should have trusted another review that states simply "It's mediocre. At best." read more

I'm sad this place comes up as #1 in Austin... Y'all Austinians don't get good food. This is legit Buffalo Wild Wings, slightly worse. Got Al Pastor Tacos and they were mediocre. Typical americanized Tacos with two pieces of pineapples and cilantros. Also ordered wings, it reminded me of Buffalo Wild Wings. Wouldn't come here again. Oh also had to wait and ask to be seated AND order. Overall slightly disappointed and unimpressed. read more

Wanted to write this off as just another hotel restaurant, but it was awesome!! Will definitely go back next time I'm in Austin.

So in all fairness we went to moonshine down the block first but it was an hour and a half wait so we found the next nearest place. Thankfully i was pleasantly surprised by the place. Service was good enough, not above and beyond but they were nice and efficient. Onion dip was great. Carne asada and pollo tacos very good. Pollo better than the steak but still good. Only other thing i didnt like is the darkness and lack of windows of this place. Worth a stop by read more

The service was extremely slow. No water refills. Tacos were swimming in grease. Would not recommend

The good (not great) margaritas & the tacos. The bad...service was interesting.... Sticking your fingers in the glasses when removing them from the table? Both servers leaning against the wall when we walked in? Menus are filthy with food stains! How clean can the rest of the place be? Tacos have NO presentation. Thrown onto a salad plate. They really need a manager at this outlet like they have at Canon & Bell because C&B runs extremely well. This place could really use some leadership and training of the staff. read more

Had high hopes. Heard great things. Came in and noticed there was no true hostess stand and staff were assisting other patrons. I sat at the long high-top waiting to be addressed or at least acknowledged. After 20 minutes of not being noticed, although several staff saw me and made eye contact, I decided to make my move. I approached a staff member and asked for a menu. She had the nerve to ask if I wanted to be seated. I advised her that I am the same gentleman that had been sitting at the long high-top for the last 20 minutes. Why is that significant? Because she was one of the staff that I made eye contact with several times. Of course once I pointed that out, she had a bewildered look on her face. Now I know I'm white, but I ain't that damn white where I am transparent. I ordered and will await the results. So far, not a good start. Ate my three tacos, the whatataco, Baja and another I cannoy recall all were very good; however, as with my arrival, I was less than than impressed with the wait staff. Main waitress had attitude (there were 7 of us now) and seemed to be irritated with such a large table. The waiter who brought us our drinks had a smell that makes me wish he would have paid attention to the Old Spice shower commercials. Overall food is a 4.2 and the waitstaff/hostess a - 5.2, hence the one star...... read more

The Austin Taco Project is definitely still in it's project phase. The wait was long. The tacos themselves had ambition but the execution just wasn't well planned. Baha x Austin taco had fried fish and plenty of toppings yet it tasted undercooked that's too fishy. The oc-thai-pus is straight up a tentacle in a taco. Interesting.. but that's about it. read more

It was a chill spot to grab drinks and food in the late night. Me and my best friend had 2 drinks, 1 appetizer and 2 orders of tacos (2 tacos each order). The drinks were creative and interesting (a twisted margarita with Don Julio and a spicy tequila - watermelon juice beverage). The chorizo-cheese fondue with pretzel bun bread was AMAZING. Soft, pretzel bun bread, very warm and queso not too hot. The tacos were not impressive. The carne asada was pk and well-flavored, but we did not like the brisket tacos. They were too cold and meat filled with fat, for our taste. Overall- would recommend to come by to give it a try and be chill. read more

After a long flight and just landing in Austin, we went on a hunt for where we should eat some dinner before heading back to our hotel room and passing out for the night. We stumbled upon this place and could not have have a more pleasant experience. Our waitress checked on us just often enough and the food was AMAZING! We had the whatatacos and brisket tacos. Both were amazing! The flavor combos on the brisket tacos were unique and delicious. We also shared the esquites which was literally the most amazing thing I've ever had! We finished off our dinner with the stuffed churros and couldn't have ended on a better note. YUM! My only regret is that the food was so good, I forgot to take pictures of anything else after our appetizer came out read more
