FIRST, let me start with there is some CLEAR warning signs. When the waiter recommends the FISH TACO and the salsa comes in bottles of flavors Habanero Pineapple, Jalapeño Apple, Ghost pepper Blueberry and Red Sauce.... FAM we in trouble. Had the Pineapple Express, barbacoa and Bulgoigi Tacos with a side of Street corn. All the tacos were very flavorless and seemed to be slow braised in nothing sauce adding zero flavor. They were so mediocre that the flavor of the protein they were original was sucked dry?? For desert had the Blood Orange Tres leche and it was okay. LASTLY, super pricey for what we got totally not worth it. Save $60 bucks and go to Taco Hell. On a very forced positive note: Service was good and has a good beer tap selection. DEAR OWNER of Austin Tap house if you don't want to die a Slow braised death as your Barbacoa Tacos I recommend you hire the chef from Across the street at La Chismosa Street Taco next to the Esters Follies show. Those Taco are 5 star for half the price!! read more

Deviled eggs, poutine, casa blanca taco. Service;. Easter Sunday, restaurant was only about 1/3 full. I sat at the bar. After 3 times of making direct eye contact with bartender did they ask if i would like to order a drink. Much later after having put the menu down did they ask if i would like to order food. When I put my empty water glass at the edge of the bar, it means I would like it refilled. Food;. I ordered a cold dish, deviled eggs, why didn't you bring those out first instead of everything at once? Poutine, I'm sure they put some cheese curds in there somewhere, but I couldn't find them. The pork was over salted. Casa blanca taco, fat was running out of the taco, but yet the meat still tasted dry, didn't know that was physically possible. Yogurt sauce was delicious, why didn't you put more on there? Deviled eggs. Sauce on top was delicious. You prep everything ahead, bring these out right away, not wait for the hot food. My water glass is still empty.... read more

Wake Up taco was pretty good, but none of the flavors really stood out for some reason. It was good brisket, and a bit of crema as the strong notes, but unfortunately it wasn't spicy. Good Morning Vietnam was my favorite taco here, and it is only $4. All of the ingredients came together perfectly, the flavor of the fresno peppers on the taco was fantastic (They went with a sweet n spicy variety of pickling). It actually had a bit of noticeable spice, but nothing crazy compared to what I've had. $2 Whatataco and Al Pastor on Tuesdays is a major plus! Both of these tacos were pretty good, but the Whatataco blew my mind with how well it emulated Whataburger. Definitely a taco you have to try at least once. Great place, great location, free parking. They aren't the best tacos, and they're pretty small, but they're done well. read more

This review was long overdue!! I held my bachelorette dinner at Austin Taco Project in one of their private rooms last month and it was amazing!!! We had a group of about 15 ladies that joined us from all over Texas and they loved the food and the overall service! Thank you to Jacob Delis and his team for the amazing service that we received. They truly made my bachelorette such a success, my guest are still talking about it. Jacob and his staff were very attentive and surpassed all of our expectations. The food was truly delicious and the presentation was superb!! They even surprised me with a drink they made in my honor, we all loved it!!! Thank you Jacob, you truly made my event an unforgettable one! I highly recommend Austin Taco Project!!! read more

Cool little venue! I love that the place was unassuming behind these double doors - as soon as we opened them there was live music and cool lighting. Wonderful ambience. The food was also spectacular! I asked for vegetarian recommendations of the menu and there were 1 or 2 good options. But the flavors were incredible. Service took a little longer than expected as I was in a rush, but can't complain because everything else was spot on. read more

Rude bar tender. Been here several times, usually grab the Tiny tacos and play Gatacca. Bar tender refused to take my order if I didn't sit at the bar. I told him I've done it before he didn't seem to care. Good food and atmosphere but im not going to recommend this place when the staff treats customers like dirt. read more

Nice late night spot with quality often hard to find for late night. Tots were crackin, brisket taco was meaty with hints of spice and sweet. I might have to return. Also beer selection did the job! read more

Eh...I was pretty excited to try this place. The pictures and reviews looked awesome, but I was pretty let down. The tacos were ok in comparison to other places I've been in in Austin. The flavors weren't very exciting, and it was pretty pricey for what you get. read more

You know your dinning experience isn't going to go well when 3 different waiters ask you for your order and at least one of them gets annoyed! I will say 1 of our 3 waiters was good and pleasant. Compared to the 3 Tacos I ordered the Good Morning Vietnam Taco was ok. The Bulgogi taco was soggy and I thought would have flavor but it was really lacking. I definitely would not recommend the Oc-Thai-Pus!! I have eaten octopus many times and absolutely love it. I had 4-5 pieces of octopus in my taco, one piece tasted like rubber (over cooked), one piece was slimy and I spit it out plus it had an overwhelming fishy smell and the other two pieces honestly I couldn't eat because the first two bits made me not want to eat anymore. I stay at the Hilton when I come to Austin but I will not be eating at the Austin Taco Project again! read more

ATP far exceeded my expectations. Usually hotel bar / restaurants are mediocre at best but this place shines. Sure, it seems expensive by glancing at the menu but the tacos are substantial. Any reviewers who complain about "$6 street tacos" here might be demented-- I came in thinking they were going to be small, ordered four, and now I wish I had paced myself. Don't get me wrong, I ate them all and loved every bite but these are not your standard "street tacos". There's a complexity to their craftsmanship that reveals itself in every bite. With fresh ingredients, varied textures and complimentary flavors the tacos transcend the idea of street food and craft it into a gourmet experience. I highly recommend this place for people with discerning taste and adventurous attitudes. What I ordered, in order of enjoyment: Tempura Fish Fried Chicken Bao Barbacoa Curry chicken *Also had to try the bread pudding and unfortunately for me they made it so damn delicious that I had to eat the whole damn thing. I sat at the bar and the service was excellent. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, taking pride in their work and the food they served. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying the Jerk Shrimp tacos that I should have gotten and would certainly get right now if I were not so full and satisfied. read more

I want to say the food is good. I had the pancakes and other sides and enjoyed the food. My problem with the restaurant is the service wasn't there. I came in the morning for breakfast since I was staying at the Hilton, I thought it might be a quick meal before my appointment. I was seated and given water, and that's when the waiting started. I didn't talk to my server for 10 minutes. I sat there with an empty water glass watching others look around dazed for the server. When he showed up, he asked if I wanted a coffee or juice, when I told him orange juice, he took off again not wanting to take my order. When he came back with the juice, he told me he would be back for my order. I waited around for 10 minutes staring at the infomercial being played on the TVs. Another group of people grabbed the server and told him that he hasn't seen the since they were sat 10 minutes ago. The same server took their order and disappeared. I sat around for another 10 minutes before he showed up again. I placed my order to go (not what I wanted), and he apologized for the long wait. I sat around for another 10 minutes before I had enough. I went to the hostess and told him to charge me for the orange juice so I can go. He looked confused and got my server, and once again he vanished for minutes as they didn't want to charge my card even though I was stressing I needed to leave. My server showed up with the food, and I paid and quickly dashed off. I spent an hour in the restaurant and didn't get food. I had a glass of orange juice and a glass of water. They never filled the water glass while I was there. There was no apology for the lack of service. I truly understand being busy, and being in the "weeds", but not being acknowledged for long periods of time is unacceptable. read more

Being my first time in Austin, and coming in from Scottsdale, AZ, where tacos rule, I must say that the Austin Taco Project is a must visit. Walk the two extra blocks from the four seasons and step up to the bar and ask for Briana or Suspender wearing Jacob to guide you through the very cool menu. She recommended the Dubai ( awesome) and then I had the Poutine, must have. At only $7 bucks each how could you go wrong? Highly recommend ATP for anyone wanting a stiff drink, can't miss micro brew tap list and awesome tacos with great service. read more

Not your typical taco place It's a nouveau taco restaurant that goes out of its way not to be a traditional Austin taco joint. They do not have any local beers They have a great selection of beers that we enjoyed They do not serve a traditional taco That said we enjoyed the food very much. It's $7 a taco with no items and no chips and salsa served. The size of taco is a typical size so you should probably order 2. The doughnut bread pudding is great. What can I say other than that this restaurant offered me EXACTLY what I wanted yet completely surprised me with the thoughtful and well developed flavors of the delicious and creative tacos that they served... Coffee rubbed brisket taco was ON POINT and was further embellished by the perfect selection of craft hot sauces this place offers. Each dish on the menu was obviously conceived carefully and with a great understanding of flavor combinations. Did I mention that the chef brought our meal out to us at the bar!? Just another reminder that this place is proud of what they serve...and rightfully so. Brianna, our sassy West Texas bartender (but not too sassy), made the experience even more enjoyable. C'mon, you know food tastes better when you're having a good time! BOTTOM LINE: get here before the secret it out! read more

Wow -- finally a contender to the two headed monster taco oligopoly in Austin! While I think Torchy's and Tacodeli are slightly better (especially when you factor in price), ATP is a must-go. The menu is pretty interesting, with a good variety of ethnically inspired tacos. I skipped apps and drinks but had 4 tacos in this order (coincidentally, also in order of best to worst): 1. Pineapple Express - hell yea...probably the best pineapple / pork belly type thing I've ever had. I threw in extra sauce for a little more heat and flavor 2. Wake Up - crazy unique flavor...reminds me a bit of Crazy Eyes from Mr. Deeds (the guy who likes peanut butter and gumballs pizza), but I never thought blueberry, ghost peppers, coffee and brisket could go together so well 3. Good Morning Vietnam - it's a shame this has chicken (vs. pork), but still pretty good. 4. Bulgolgi - skip it...too salty (though to be fair, the meat and bun are both tasty) I'd go back for sure, but it's just below the Big 2 IMHO. read more

Fist time here. Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations as a "Taco Project ". Food quality is okay, not too many options on the menu. No chips and salsa is a disappointment. If looking for a true fresh taco place, lots of other options are available in the area. read more

Delicious food that you won't find anywhere else. Excellent service and a great location and vibe. Great covered patio with big fans for those hot Austin days. Solid 4 stars! Landed in Austin and not only was I overwhelmed, I was also picky, and starving. It's a very weird place to be. Now, I know that this might not be the most authentic taco joint in Austin, or even Austin-proper tacos, but I was pleased. Here's a few things I was looking for: a nice patio, fusion, good drinks, nice presentation. etc. This delivered! I got the Barbacoa poutine (it's made with tator tots, the superior potato form), the Baja taco, and the good morning Vietnam. Never had a banh mi in taco for, but I was down with it, and I have the credentials to make that call. My friend had the wake up! and the tacos al pastor/pork. She was real into that. It's a newer place, and it's evident through the spotty service and miscommunication between servers, but for a place that is less than a year old- the future looks bright! read more

This is the first place we stopped to eat after arriving in Austin TX. We mainly stopped for drinks but they had so many great things on the menu that we just couldn't pass it up. The poutine was great! definitely very filling. All the drinks were also very refreshing. The lavender lemonade (non-alcoholic) is super refreshing and most of us chose the prickly pear margarita which was also delightful. This place is clean and the ambiance is quite modern. Service was a amazing. A great start to our adventure in Austin. read more

To be honest, I'm used to hotel restaurants behind overpriced and underwhelming. I'm happy to report that the Austin Taco Project was actually quite good and very reasonably priced. I ended up stopping by twice on my stay in Austin and was satisfied each time. What I think I enjoy most about ATP is that they don't offer heaping portions of food. They claim to offer small plates and actually live up to that claim. I had their smokeadilla on both of my visits and was happy with the flavor each time. They also were heavy-handed with the drinks, which is always nice. As I mentioned, for a hotel restaurant ATP surpasses all expectations and is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. read more

Absolutely incredible. I stopped in here after a river tubing tour, starving. Expected a nice light snack and received one of my most memorable meals of 2017. The rib eye poutine to start was a perfect blend of crispy tater tots, an avocado based crema/salsa, and a delicious barbacoa. After my first bite I immediately decided to order another. Girlfriend stopped me. Because we had ordered another appetizer and 4 tacos. So so so impressed. Definitely check this spot out. Make sure to check in on Yelp for one free taco. (As long as you purchase another.) read more

I was visiting this place after a long day at SXSW and it just happened to be their opening night. I think the issues started from the moment we walked in the door. A few folks just stared at us and then finally someone random came up and said "can I get you a table." The waitress was nice and gave us a couple recommendations. The drinks were about average in price and were made pretty strong (appreciate that) - and I am glad because we needed the drinks to get through the food. Both of our taco plates were cold and poorly constructed. We then ordered a beef appetizer that turned out to be cold at the center. The waitress was nice enough to not charge us for it but I was left disappointed in this new establishment. It met the visual appeal to get us inside the door but we will not be going back. There are better, more authentic, tacos in Austin. read more

Not the best tacos in Austin. Had poor service while we were there and they weren't even busy. I would not recommend or go back myself.

Probably one of the best restraunts I've ever been in inside a hotel. Tacos are flavorful, unique, and delicious. Tons of beer selections and cocktails. Tacos will run $4 to $6, beer about the same depending on choice. I got the Dubai, an Indian curry inspired taco, and the Whatataco, which is their take on the traditional taco. Both were delicious. The Dubai had great flavor and I especially enjoyed the grapes on top. Each table has a variety of hot sauces to sample from as well. One of the best parts? Took 5 minutes to get our tacos once we ordered. read more

Stopped in late on a weeknight after a conference. Wasn't sure what to expect since it is located inside a hotel (Hilton). Not all hotel food spots are that great but food here was fantastic. I ordered two different kinds of tacos (barbacoa and chicken). Both were very good, but the Good Morning Vietnam taco was SOOO good I had to order one more. YUM. Highly recommend! Checked this place out since in Hilton and it's inside! Taco Tuesday demands tacos. And needed somewhere to watch the World Series. Cool vibe inside. Lots of hanging lights and good feelings. Music was loud until I realized it was two guys playing guitars in the bar area - nice to have some local influence keep the mood propped up before the game. I checked in on Yelp to grab a free taco with the beer flight. Good idea if you are here for tacos and beer. Lots of beer on tap and I went for the Right Coast flight (spent some good time on the East Coast) - good selection of for beers that hit the spot. Tacos - lots of options. Being vegan, I opted for the PETA 2x and really enjoyed these. Simple, hot and like you would expect from a premium taco spot. I'd order again for sure. If you aren't vegan, you can bury your face in the rest of the menu because everything that was coming around me was looking delicious and smelled even better. If you come, check in with Briana at the bar. She's legit and reminded someone very nicely that they only serve Anejo (not Reposado) to -clearly- a junior tequila drinker and he was 60+. She's knows her stuff and having fun while she does it. Check it out if you are at Hilton or even if close by. read more

Are the reviews from people who have never had "real" tacos before?? There's no way that this places renders 4 stars unless you came here to just order a beer or have never had a real taco before. We ordered the al pastor, brisket, chips & salsa, and wings. Thank goodness we got the salsa as the tacos were a bit too dry! This is essentially a Buffalo Wild Wings meets tacos. BUT contrary to most reviews on here, the staff was really friendly and nice.
