    Grabbing a drink
    Greg H.

The Fairmont hotel we were staying in had 3 bars, we looked into each and all three had some good and bad. This is the one we came to after dinner at Perry's. The place is nice, Lots of seating and they had these almost like Pod areas you could sit in with groups. They had outdoor seating on a patio overlooking the city but it was cold and we only went out there for a few minutes to see the view and take some pictures. The staff was great, all very friendly and fast but made the drinks well. They place never got super busy while we were there but it was never empty either. We spent the most time at this bar, the lobby bar had EVERY table reserved which was annoying and the other bar was sorta of an honor bar. SHANA SAYS: "It has a classy atmosphere and creative cocktail menu. The dessert was delicious and the bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable. The outside seating area was HUGE and the bathroom very very clean. A mellow laid back vibe but I can see it becoming busier and lively in warmer months." Overall there was not much I could find to say look out for or maybe you wouldn't enjoy this. We were not here long but the dessert was very good and the drinks were unique, We try to go outside our normal comfort zone and while I don't think I will get the drinks I got again they were well made, it is purely my own taste in drinks that lowered the enjoyment. They were made perfectly, I had The Smoke Also Rises and Shana had the Rebellious Gecko with the dessert being Chocoflan. We had a few other drinks of various types straight and had a good end with some great pics on the balcony.

The food was just really expensive for the blandness. I only had the chicken tinga tacos but I know I could make much better. They tasted unsalted and it was missing something, plus there were only two for $24. The service was fine, just your normal poolside staff. Ambiance was obviously great due to the rooftop pool aspect.

Came here to celebrate my sister's birthday, and it was ultimately a disappointing experience. At least they validated parking. We wanted to go to a rooftop bar for the views, and even though the area had ample room and it was not that crowded, the views didn't seem to blow us away, lol. The appetizers/snacks available were limited as far as vegetarian options. We settled for chips and salsa, which were mediocre. For drinks, my friend wanted a rum and coke but apparently the waiter had a hard time understanding her, repeating "coconut" in trying to clarify what is normally a standard request in the alcohol world...we joked about it afterwards (she said her drink was oily? Lol!), but it still came off strange. Needless to say, we had to find another place for food and we stayed no more than an hour. Not to thrilled about this place so I don't plan to be back.

The Broken Coconut has taken over Rules & Regs were themed for the Summer. The place has been decorated very nicely and special drinks created. I had a Frozé and was really good for the hot day we were having. The prices were high but good liquor was used. The staff was very cool and make us feel very welcomed, and the views of the city was specular.

One of our favorite go to spots to enjoy some cocktails and bites. Especially so the boyfriend can smoke his cigars on the patio area. The Salsa Quemada had a really good flavor. I love a charred salsa. The tacos were ok. I liked the Pork Belly Al Pastor more over the Suadero Tacos, but my only issue really is they are so tiny. I wish the tacos were larger for the price. Two tiny tacos for $10. But it might just be worth it for the ambiance and view of the city!

During my recent visit to Rules & Regs on New Year's Eve, I was disappointed to find the place closed for a private event. The festive decorations looked great, creating a lively atmosphere that piqued my interest. While I understand the need for private events, it would have been helpful to know about the closure beforehand. I missed out on the chance to have a drink on New Year's Eve at Rules & Regs (went down to Fulton which was really festive too), but the decorations were appealing, and I plan to return soon. I just hope they haven't taken down the festive setup by then.

Fake bamboo paper straw, sad tiki glass from Temu, soggy previously frozen lemons that made no sense as a garnish for my drink...

Super disappointing... Everyone seems to confused and uninterested. They said they were out of two of the ten drinks they had... when we asked what was out so they could just substitute, he said he had no clue. When I asked how spicy something was, he said he had no clue. When we were waiting around for another round because we were already there, he was nowhere to be found. The service was super slow and when the drinks finally arrived, they were lame and uninspired. No creativity, no garnish...just throw some banana rum into an appropriative tiki glass from Temu and call it a day. Speaking of offensiveness and appropriation, it was kind of embarrassing how much of mockery they made of the Hawaiian culture. Just an icky experience all around.

I wish there were more stars to give them. Wow wow WOW the food is amazing . My husband and I both agree. Dogs? Smoking? Yes! Music? Yes! Chefs? Yes they must be! The food is unbelievable. My husband wants me to tell you "Every time I take a bite it's like there's a party in my mouth." Haha What else. The people are all very nice and everyone is chill and happy. The server is awesome -- very friendly and goes out of her way to get us things. There were a few drink girls that came out for us to sample the Patron Perectino Margarita and we sampled but oops then we got our regular sized Cinco de Mayo Margarita and the first sip was bitter. Haha ... So here we are, rooftop, and it is Cinco de Mayo. We highly recommend.

I've been to this bar before, before they revamped it with all the Christmas decorations. It looks amazing the way they have it now, there are lights everywhere present boxes on the ceiling, and there's music, which is in tune with a light show on the wall, pretty cool. We ordered three of the Christmas themed cocktail specials, they were all very delicious. They are very cute, very Instagramable, nice spot to come with friends or a cute date night. They have happy hour every day from 5 to 6 PM, just an hour where they have drinks 50% off. Highly recommend.

I enjoyed trying brunch here! They have a vegan guacamole tostada that I really enjoyed. It was very flavorful and filling. We also had a delicious mock tail that our waitress recommended. The ambiance is super cute/trendy and service was awesome.

I wanted to like this place more than I did. It's situated next to the pool area which is convenient. Nice bar and standard dining area w a larger patio/outdoor seating as well. My friend and I each tried a cocktail, the carne asada and the Birria tacos. The disappointment came from the portion sizes ratio to prices being charged. The drinks and food were almost half the size of what I would get elsewhere. Flavor wise the food was decent enough, I've had much better Birria tacos in Austin, more authentic ones. You do get the view of the pool right next to it. Overall It's a cute place to stop in for a quick drink or small bite to eat.

Honestly, it's a pretty mediocre "rooftop" bar. Their drinks are incredibly overpriced and generic, and service was meh. The hostess barely looked in our direction when we asked for the restroom. I honestly have no idea why this place is serving cocktails for $16-19. Those are New York prices. For the quality of drinks, 7th floor views, and mediocre service, Rules & Regs is not worth it.

Visit this place for the drinks and the sunset views! They are truly incredible! It's a great place for a date night or just a night out with friends. The staff was very friendly and the drink menu had a ton of options. They only use premium and high quality liquors and mixes for all of their drinks so it's totally worth it! Also, this place is reservation only! The bar is open but if you want a view of the sunset, you have to make a reservation.

We waited maybe 15 minutes at the walk-in line as others progressively started to pile on behind us. Then again, even people in the reservation line were waiting. This is definitely the kind of place that wants you to wait. The kind of place that wants to build a line outdoors to intrigue onlookers. We were treated nicely, but we definitely could have gotten in right away. By the time we walked in, the place was probably at 60% capacity. It was standing room only at the bar, but not overcrowded by any means. There is a dress code, but it's not entirely clear what it is. Some guy dressed to the 9s got turned away for not having sleeves whereas I got in with sneakers and a t-shirt. They ask for your cellphones upon entering and give you a key in exchange, but there doesn't seem to be any security to enforce it if you don't want to give them up. I have no problem with their policy, but I bet a lot of customers do. Interestingly, their little social experiment seemed to have a positive effect, where we ended up talking to strangers and vice versa. The Powder Room may be making America social again.

There's enough of a vibe for this place to feel lively even when it's mostly empty, yet it also avoids the earsplitting noise that may come with a more crowded venue. The bartenders are amicable, and the menu showcases some creative - and creatively named - cocktails. Lara went with a Moon Song (rum, blackberry, lime, and honey with lavender cold foam) and an espresso martini and enjoyed both. I opted for a zero proof drink: the high and mighty (agave, nonalcoholic ginger and floral liqueurs, jasmine tea, and spiced salt). It was refreshing but didn't quite hit the mark for me. What should have been complex and balanced came across as overly floral. All told, Marlow is worth a visit even if it is unlikely to wow you.

The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.
