My husband made us a last minute reservation for valentines days here. I gotta say, it didn't seem like they were prepared to be open for valentines? I say this because service was..off? The servers didn't know where food or drinks were supposed to go. They didn't have silverware or napkins on the table before we sat down. The seats were like wet from being wiped down right before we sat. The menu was different than the one I looked on their website for which generally doesn't bother me, but i ordered topo chico which actually turned out to be a rambler, and iykyk that is not the same value lol. They seemed to have to prep the tables that they were struggling by saying "we are tag teaming this area." All that to say, it's a cute space, food is average, and service is just ok. The Swim Club creates very high expectations with its extravagant decor, and its location in the equally extravagant Downright Marriott hotel, decor-wise, at least. The vast space feels like being on the set of the Barbie movie with it's pink and blue motifs and 80s - 90s pool party themed decor. It's visually stunning, unique, and just all-around beautiful especially for appreciators of that aesthetic. Very Instagrammable/Tiktok-able, for those who want that content. I visited the Swim Club one Sunday Morning for what promised to be a great brunch, but I was disappointed. The actual restaurant/bar part is an afterthought. Upon entering on a SUNDAY for brunch, no one greeted us. We walked around taking in the ambiance until we got to the bar to speak to what seemed like the only person working the entire restaurant. She hardly looked at us, and we had to ask for menus and order while standing at the bar, then seat ourselves. We wanted to sit by the glass wall which has a view to the outdoor pool, but that table had not been cleaned. Since we were one of the first guests at the restaurant on Sunday Morning, it seems the table had not been cleaned from the night before. Our food came out quickly and was fresh. But it was not very tasty. We ordered fries and a salad. The fries did not come with ketchup, they came with aioli and a spicy red sauce, surprisingly. Maybe it was a mistake. I had to flag down the server for a tiny ramekin with a squirt of regular ketchup. The salad was fresh, but the dressing not very tasty and not enough for the amount of salad. I recall eating mostly unseasoned vegetables. Healthy, but not worth it, and not filling. We ordered a freshly juiced non-alcoholic drink, the "Grove Mule," which was the same price and quantity as cocktails. About 3-4 oz of juice over a lot of ice. Just a few sips worth. We had to ask for water. This place also does my pet peeve - makes you pay in advance of being served, like if it's a fast-food restaurant, and defaults for a 20% or higher tip before you even sat down at a table, which was not set, and at which I had to keep flagging the server for basics like water, napkins, condiments, and utensils. I would not say the service reflected a 20% tip, but it would not matter because I would not return here. Our high expectations took a cold plunge. I'd recommend going here for your Tiktok videos but don't spend money on this. read more

Yes, Swim Club has an actual pool that you can take a dip in, in addition to the decorative one indoors filled with hundreds of inflatable mini live preservers like an adult ball pit. The whole place is Instagram-ready, decked out in millennial pink. Kitschy but upscale in a very self-aware, faux retro way, it's giving tropical resort meets big city power lunch. It's absolutely about the experience and the ambiance, but the food and drink measures up, too. You can't go wrong with a margarita alongside chips and guac. Big props to their fire roasted cauliflower tacos, which are a genuinely thoughtful and boldly flavorful vegan option. Parking is a bit confusing, as is simply getting to the dining room through the hotel lobby and down the escalator, but if you self-park, you can get it validated at the bar. I honestly didn't want to sing its praises because Swim Club feels like its trying really, really hard to be effortlessly cool. Ultimately, I must admit, it kind of nails it. read more

Decor is 1000/10. I loved everything about how it looked. I had made a reservation on Openable, which upon arrival seemed really unnecessary. As we entered we asked if we could sit by the food area and were informed that they had no servers so it would be best to order at the bar and they would bring it to us. The bartender was friendly and gave us drink recommendations. I ended up ordering the Kyoto Strawberry Crush which was delicious! For our meal, my friend and I shared a pepperoni pizza and fries. The fries were nice and well seasoned. The pizza even though it looked amazing, was just okay. I didn't love the texture of the crust and to me it lacked flavor. The Swim club is located on the ground floor at Downright Austin, with an outdoor pool and beach chairs that you can use with a day pass or simply dine indoors at the restaurant without one. There's paid parking available right outside the swim club entrance and you can also walk in through the main hotel restaurant. The vibe and pinkish decor here is completely on point. It's very fun and Instagramable. And drinks are great! It's a great spot to hangout with your girls for brunch or happy hour. We enjoyed the Neon Valentine pop up bar experience with lit neon signs that made for cute pic backgrounds and themed cocktails served in heart shaped glasses. What a delightful space with top service from the bartender on duty I got food to go, so I didn't spend much time there, but it seems like a nice hotel bar if that's your thing, and I appreciate that they're directly connected to the pool area. When you walk in, they have a private dining area for parties I'm assuming and then they have seating areas with a pool table, TVs, a stage and a cute photo booth. In the restaurant, it gives very much pool vibes. There is a small pool/jacuzzi with cute pink inflatables. You can get in for a quick photo opp. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We sat inside what would be a pool right next to the actual pool so we can see the people outside swimming. The food was not that great. I guess you're more there for the drinks and vibes. The Swim Club was super cool where must be one of the most unique bars in Austin. It also serves the outdoor pool for the Downright Austin. It had an indoor pool extension but was closed off and now used as a seating area. The indoor spa is a playpen for the little ones with tiny pink floats. The drink menu is also unique where ordered the Tan Lines which was a very tall glass of strawberry-infused tanqueray ten, dimmi, honey, orange bitters, elderflower rinse, and lemon. Where do I start?! This place has dope vibes all around. I was staying a few blocks from Swim Club and thought the place looked fun so I gave it a try. This restaurant is connected to a hotel (Downright) and you can dine indoors, outdoors and poolside! They have quirky drinks to choose from if you're interested in alcoholic beverages. I ordered a burger and pizza and shared this with two other people. The food was great, ambiance was great, and service was stellar. I'm definitely stopping by next time I'm in town. Located in the Downright Hotel and just a short walk from my office, I decided to check it out during my lunch break. As you might guess, the restaurant features an outdoor pool for hotel guests and patrons who order food and drinks. The interior is super retro and nautical, with bright colors that really pop. The menu is small but easy to navigate, featuring mainly tacos, sandwiches, pizzas, and salads. I tried the Baja fish tacos and paired them with one of their fun cocktails, the Sharks on the Water. Both were good, but the highlight for me was the cold pop, made by a local shop and definitely my favorite thing I tried. I had the best experience at the Swim Club last week! I was able to sit outside for dinner once and had drinks inside twice while staying at the hotel attached. The margherita pizza was really tasty. The fries and sauces stole the show though. The za'atar aioli was to-die-for and the spicy sauce was also so delicious. The lemonade rosé was my favorite drink I tried. I don't think I ate at the same place as the rest of the folks here. The service was extremely slow during a non existent lunch rush. There were probably 5 customers in there at the time. But the absolute travesty is the price for the quality. I ordered the $14 Cesar salad - it's downtown, I get it. Then you can make it into a chicken wrap and fries for an additional $9. If there were 5 1inch chicken chunks In my wrap I'd be exaggerating. The wrap was on a small wheat tortilla, barely big enough to constitute a wrap so it only held about a 1.5-2 cups of actual salad. Food: So I actually ordered the tacos honestly, it was not disappointed if you have a pineapple allergy then you can always ask them to take it off, but that was really good and if I remember accurately was like $15 for three tacos that were good and filling not a bad deal . The frozen drinks were good and I know I had a tequila drink, and that was pretty tasty. My waiter was Esme and he was fantabulous! Like honestly continue to check on our large table. He gave his honest opinions about certain drinks and food choices. Could not have asked for a better waiter. I took a tour of the whole venue. It's actually pretty cute. There's like a little upstairs area, which is like a lounge and further back is a little closed off area. Where if you wanted it like some quiet while you ate, you can go there. Had an awesome time at The Swim Club! The atmosphere was lively and perfect for photos with the pool filled with fun swim tubes and colorful balls. Service was spot on too. We ordered the Baja crispy snapper tacos and watermelon salad, and sipped on some dusk 'til don, performance anxiety cocktails, and electric jellyfish beer. Everything was made really well! However, I do feel the food is overpriced for what you get. The watermelon salad, while delicious and refreshing, should definitely be priced under $10--it can't cost more than $1 to make. Our mocktails were delicious and would return just for those and yes they do actually use n/a spirits. Southside Cooler is a MUST. Now that 100 temps are here for the summer, this is an incredibly refreshing drink with the extra bonus of a seasonal paleta (June - Mango Habanero). That's right! Hand Made by Cold Pops here in Austin, dropped right into the Gin-forward cocktail. The Adult Swim burger was a solid "pool burger" with a fancy touch of havarti and caramelized onions. I would describe it more as a smash burger take. Wings and watermelon salad are both prepared sous vide, with house made marinades. Expectations were low, thinking about the hotel setting and influencer hype, but we thought it was a solid creative touch and very much so appropriate for the growing Austin vibe. Swim Club is the perfect girl's night spot! I had been following them since they opened and finally got to go in August. The interior is super cute and unique. The dining room is made from an old pool, so it's sunken below the main level. It still features decorations from the old pool such as the ladder, the tiles, and the depth signs. I love that they made all the furniture blue in the pool area to mimic the water that used to be there. The rest of the restaurant is decorated with pink details, which is super cute! It's definitely a good spot for photos. We came on a Thursday, which is their 1/2 off pizza and drink specials night (not 100% sure if they're still doing this, I couldn't find anything about it on their Instagram). Our server was super friendly and patient with us. We ordered their chips and dip to share, which was perfect since it came with queso, salsa, and guacamole, so everyone had something they liked. I ordered the pepperoni pizza with a side of ranch and it was pretty good! I definitely expected the food here to be lower quality since the restaurant seems to be more about visuals, so I was pleasantly surprised. After our meal, we got to swim in the actual pool outside for a bit, which was the perfect way to cool off from the heat. Overall, I would recommend this spot for a girl's night! I came here for the experience; it's been a long time since a social club existed. I missed this kind of entertainment, where you gathered with your friends sitting by the pool, playing games, listening to music, drinking, and dining on funny-name cocktails and food. I have to say, it was so refreshing to come here and do just that. I can tell you this place is located in the Downright Hotel. But there is no need because you will see the big pink sign that spells Swim Club in glowing green lights above the pink wrought iron gates. Once you cross under the gates, the fun begins, and I like to say there are three pools. One with water to dip in, catch a tan, and sip your umbrella drinks, the second is the miniature pool with life jackets filled to the top, and the third one is the original pool inside with tables and chairs; it actually still has the steps to go down to take a seat. Now, there's more here, like the colorful bar with the best bartender who knows how to make a good drink, as he called my drink "The Game Changer" from the list of "The Twisted Concoctions." Now, it is a full bar, so don't worry; your drink is here. But on this day, a guitarist was strumming and singing, which was cool. We listened to him for a while before moving on upstairs. This area was just as colorful and eccentric as the rest of the place, with a pool table, TVs, and more lounging areas. You all, even the bathroom, had the same theme. Then we found out all we needed was a 20-dollar pass to go dip in the pool, and that's what we did. Now, I did have the Cast Iron Chocolate Chip Cookie with ice cream. You have to eat it quickly because the cookie is hot, and the ice cream will melt, and that's a good thing. There's nothing like a hot, gooey cookie, poolside drinks, and entertainment! Came to Swim Club for a date night and was pleasantly surprised with what what they were able to do with the old pool / lobby area of what used to be a Sheraton (and now Downright, which is still under the Marriott umbrella via the Renaissance Hotel brand). The food and drinks are OK / decent and also priced reasonably. Given the amount of Austin restaurants that exist where you the food is only decent but priced 2 - 3x what you'd expect to pay, this is a win. The winner that makes Swim Club a place to check out is the vibe: it must be the Gen Z crowd - but everyone who shows up gets the memo: they're dressed for the 80s in their neon pool gear and having a great time. The venue did an excellent job of restoring certain parts of the aesthetic and overlaying a modern flair without detracting from the 80s vintage theme. Their usage of the kiddy pool for a little balloon photo op area is great, and the ability to actually see the outdoor pool and also sit in a pool bay provides both an intimate and integrated feeling. The service was good / no issues at all with our dinner. Would recommend Swim Club again for a unique date night dinner before going out. read more

The swim club is now one of my new favorites and it doesn't surprise me at all to know some of the same folks behind Nickel City came up with this place. The entire place is a total vibe. It's a ambiance based restaurant with poor spacing and questionable service. I came here for a dinner with friends and usually before attending a place I look at the menu I noticed they have some good, but limited food options and cute drinks (all you really need anyway). The managerial issues hit you as soon as you walk into the door when you notice a restaurant of this size is short staffed with one bartender and maybe 1-3 waiters that were recognizable. My group and I are seated and the waiter is being rushed in every direction to cover her section. Someone in the group ordered a 2nd espresso martini and it miraculously came in a martini glass this time around (pictured). I understand that they were probably short on glasses but to be charged the same price regardless is a bit odd to me. My drink (not pictured) was pretty good I got the coco colada, and you can never really go wrong with a frozen. Now getting into the food it's just...underwhelming. For a small menu with standard starters and entrees it's funny on how each one of my groups' orders had missed the mark. The pizza was described as a "school lunch pizza" and not in a nostalgic kinda way but more with a lukewarm and plastic feeling. The burger (bad picture) and the brisket tacos even in the picture look dry and it's because they were. The crinkle cut fries that came with the burger were nice though 7/10. Overall I love a good fun ambiance restaurant because not everything has to be Michelin and serious, but when the environment doesn't even effectively attend and serve a customer the experience itself does diminish and takes away from the fun aesthetic. I paid about 74 dollars for 2 entrees and a drink with tip. P.S I would like to note this is not a diss to the wait staff by any means but more so the management/ownership cause this was a poor attempt at a cash grab. read more

My friend and I ordered the chips and dips (guacamole, salsa, queso). The chips were extremely salty. I ordered the Swim Club club sandwich for lunch. The chicken was dripping with grease I presume. We got sat in the submerged pool area -- that was cool to eat in a pool. $15 cocktails seemed steep and I was expecting them to taste artificial or more focused on making it IG worthy but they were legitimately good! Served told us the bar owner is from Murray's and Nickel City. Skinny Dippin was beautiful and had great flavor and packed a punch. The staff is friendly and provide good service. The food and drink menu are solid and reasonable compared to standard hotel prices. I have had most of the food menu and it is generally tasty, especially the wings, shrimp tacos, burger, chopped salad and watermelon feta salad are delightful. There is a selection of frozen drinks, cocktails, mocktails, and beer. It seems the frozen drink machines don't all run at once as usually there has been 1 or 2 out of 4 available. There are bike racks across the street on 10th and there is comped parking in the garage. You can access the pool before / after your reservation. There are towels for you to use. The pool has servers but could probably use a few more as it's a lovely option to eat or drink poolside. Obviously this place is cute. So much attention to detail. Was super excited to sit in the pool. The staff were so sweet and efficient. Really kind. The food was okay. I also wasn't very hungry so didn't try a whole lot. Did like the fries. The drinks were great! Dessert was soooo good! Got the skillet cookie and we ate it all and left no crumbs.
