Very unique tacos I haven't found at other places in Austin. I like the ambiance in the restaurant - very chill vibe. The server was great. Always checking up on us and making sure we always had drinks and that we enjoyed our tacos. I would definitely go back. read more

This was the most uncomfortable eating experience. They had someone playing live music, but the acoustics were terrible and we couldn't even understand anything he was singing. The music was blasting and even all the way on the other side of the restaurant, we could barely hear each other. The food was alright, but not very filling. read more

The food was very good. Tacos aren't just Mexican food...at Austin Taco Project, tacos are influenced from all over the world. Plus a local favorite, the taco influenced by Whataburger. Loved it. Service was exceptional. read more

Went into ATP after many recommendations from friends and I'm VERY happy I did. The tacos and bar snacks we ordered were all recommended by our waitress and were so unique and amazing. On top of awesome food and service, the bartenders were incredibly friendly and helpful. We were served delicious, affordable drinks, recommended fun things to do downtown, and were just surrounded by genuinely awesome staff who obviously make great service a top priority. Plus the atmosphere was so eclectic and cool - very accurate reflection of the city itself. Definitely a must in downtown Austin. read more

The food here is so incredible here. I was in town for a wedding and wanted to experience Austin and this was it. Food was amazing and affordable, plus the beers were super tasty. Our waiter Bobby did a great job! He was very friendly, informative, and excited about everything this place has to offer! 0 complaints. What a wonderful place! read more

On our recent trip to Austin we came here because of a recommendation from a friend! We started our meal with the esquites which is a corn dish topped with queso fresco, it was delicious. Next time I would order one just for myself! As my main entree I ordered the brisket tacos. All of the new school tacos seemed very cool, but what is more texas than brisket and tacos combined?! They were very good, a few chewy parts to the meat, however this is expected with brisket. I loved the blueberries on it, never would I have thought to add blueberries to a taco, but they mixed very well together! To wash it all down I chose a prickly pear margarita. I loved the sugar rim it helped balance out the sourness of the prickly pear, it was delicious-- highly recommend. When I go out to eat, I don't typically order dessert, however after hearing about the stuffed churros, I couldn't say no! They were chocolate, creme brulee and caramel stuffed and were just as good as they sound! Wish we lived closer and could visit again sooner, but next time we are in Austin we will be back! read more

The food was really good but the bartender (tall blond man) barely acknowledged me for the 20 minutes I sat at his bar. I was willing to stay and spend money, but after feeling ignored (Sunday around 6pm so it was quiet) I had my one beer and tacos and left. I won't go back. read more

Loved our time in Austin until we got to this place. They refused to serve us and kicked us out because we're Asian.

The Carnitas tacos are the way to go. The Whatataco taste like a cheeseburger and there is not what I want out of the taco. The space is nice and a peer to have good drinks. choose wisely read more

This joint was amazing! The taco fusion was a great idea! Definitely recommend visiting this place!

Great, modern tacos! Had the fried chicken bao taco, the tempura fish taco, and the ribs. PLENTY of food for one. The staff was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful in making suggestions on what the best menu items were both for food and drink. Waitress even gave me another Pollo taco for me to try - on the house! Will definitely be returning. read more

This place is amazing. Great food and drinks. Would definitely recommend to all my friends. Our waiter was pretty awesome as well.

We love the food at ATP. The tacos are better than average in a town where Tacos are served LOTS of places. ATP is in a hotel which is a little bit of a distraction. The restaurant is not a super inviting atmosphere but not bad either. We've been a couple of times and the service is a bit spotty - customers need to be given a bit more attention- want another drink ? How's your dinner ? Things like that. I will still go back as we like the food. Hopefully they will figure out the service issues. read more

I got food poisoning from this place! Don't eat here. Food was mediocre at best and not worth the risk. Everything was also super pricey.

Two of us were seated just before 10pm on a Saturday night, and we immediately got menus & ice waters set down in front of us. Twenty-five minutes later, we were finally visited by a waitress to get an order taken. A small order of very, very good fried Brussels sprouts soon arrived but before our cocktails did. We had carnitas tacos and carne asada tacos; both types were quite tasty, served in standard corn tortillas that predictably fell apart before every taco was finished. Each were dressed with the chef's selections of particular vegetables, etc. and were reasonably tasty. Now, keep in mind that this is a TACO PLACE--that's their primary dish; it's almost all that's on the menu, and there's a great variety of them. When we asked about salsa options, we were told they did not offer any. In near-stunned disbelief, we asked for clarification: there is NO SALSA for the tacos. The waitress said that they had a few bottled hot sauces, however. That is so out of bounds for a taco joint that I struggled to catch my breath. Some sort of salsa (even store-bought Pace picante sauce--and I haven't eaten that for 20 years) would have been appreciated. It would have added that extra bit of salsa flavor that is absolutely mandatory on every taco, and it would have helped hold the "dry" components together inside the tortilla like a delicious semi-liquid adhesive. Without any salsa, chunks of this and bits of that just tumbled out after every bite, eventually to be eaten with a fork. Some advice: take salsa with you. Also, get this: there are zero sides served (or even available) with tacos. No rice. No beans. You could order elote with the meal, I suppose. Those are 2 big WTF items that I feel are gigantic misses here. It should be noted that this taco joint is located in the lobby of a (Hilton) hotel, and perhaps that's part of the problem. They do not expect any repeat business from patrons, so why try any harder? read more

My fiends and I were looking for a unique place in Austin to take a friend in tacos. We have eaten them all and I must admit we have an impressive array of tacos in the city. We heard about this newly retrofitted hotel bar and taco joint that seemed promising. We gave it a shot and boy were we pleased. The bar was wide open but fully stocked and staffed with an amazing knowledgeable staff. We went for a birthday celebration and they obliged us with custom cocktail suggestions that set the mood. They ushered us to a fun tapas style seating setup and proceeded to lay it on us. Tacos galore on a pretty diverse menu. The manager also had a vast knowledge of Star Wars which was a random bonus! The food quality was high , the service was good, the atmosphere was fun, and the wait was non-existent. It reminded me of when I moved to Austin 10 years ago. If you get a chance, check it out you won't be disappointed. Dare I say... you will love it. read more

I took about 35 people to the Austin Taco Project as a stop during my husband's birthday shenanigans. The restaurant and staff, especially Josh Brown, could not have been more accommodating. I pre ordered 60+ tacos in advance, and they were served promptly upon our arrival. Not only did everyone rave about the tacos, but the ambiance of the restaurant is perfect. It has been 4 days since his party, and everyone's still talking about what a great place this is. Only downfall is they should be open for lunch =) read more

The food and the atmosphere is amazing. Han is the best and she knows what she is talking about. The good morning Vietnam is one of the best tacos I've ever had!!!! read more

Robert was an amazing waiter. Super friendly and waited on our ever need. Will come back again and tacos were fantastic.

Finally! A really good place to eat near the convention center! The space is big and bright and it was never difficult to get a table. I must have eaten here at least 4x during SXSW. I loved the curry tacos and the street corn appetizer. Excellent beer selection as well. Hope to make this my regular spot next year as well. read more

First off, the waitstaff we had were amazing. Beyond that, I could not believe the cost for such little food. We paid $45 for four small tacos and two beers. The avocado tacos were only okay (no special sauce, no extra ingredients to supplement the base, and especially underwhelming for Austin taco standards) and the shrimp tacos had great flavor, but were missing so many ingredients (it was legitimately three pieces of shrimp wrapped in a tortilla and nothing else). Their attempt to make tacos artisan failed miserably and the cost is insane for what you get. read more

This place was okay. The menu was not continuous with what we were served. My friend and I both got brisket tacos which were good, but the menu said they had blueberries in the slaw but we didn't seem to have any. Also had the ceviche which was meh at best. read more

I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately I was disappointed. While I will say that the quality of the food was good, the taste left something to be desired. One of the tacos I got had slaw on it and it was super vinegary. You could smell it from the box. Stick to staples like Torchy"s or the other plethora of less expensive taco options. read more

I was not expecting much because the restaurant is in a hotel but I was very pleasantly surprised. I had the beef brisket tacos and they were tender, tasty and served quickly. A very limited menu they could use some expansion. The margaritas were small and overpriced but the tacos made up for that. read more

The food is mediocre at best. I had the brisket tacos. There was plenty of meat and fat but not much else. They didn't taste terrible. The brisket was a bit tough. Also, I tried the embered onion dip. Please save your money. You can get this in a jar in your local store. Both dishes were inmemorable. I can't speak for the drinks so I won't. The service was decent though. The staff was very nice. read more

I came here on a work trip to Austin in September. I was with a group of 6 so we split the bill 6 ways. When I got back to LA, I noticed my card was charged twice. I contacted the restaurant and spoke with a hostess to explain the situation. They told me they would pass along my information to the manager and I would get a call back. I waited a few days and nothing. I then began calling a few times a week but always got the machine, so each time I would leave my name and info. No call back. Finally, someone picked up the phone when I called and I spoke with a manager. The manager told me he would get it fixed and he would call me back when it was sorted. I STILL AM WAITING ON THE REFUND AND A CALL BACK AFTER 2 MONTHS. This is completely ridiculous and I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

Walked in to this awesome establishment with an amazing atmosphere. We are from Houston and we're craving tacos. We were in for a treat! The waitress promptly seated us and was very informative. I ordered my self a mango margarita which was soooo delicious!! We were recommended the street corn as an appetizer... oh my goodness ... I was in heaven sooooo good!! I really wanted to try the octopus taco but they were out. I tried the smokadilla and Baha X Austin. Flavorful one of a kind taste. I wish Houston had a place like this... sensational menu. I was very impressed and would truly recommend this spot. read more

My boyfriend, our friend, and I were craving some tacos during our trip to Austin, went on yelp, and came across Austin Taco Project for dinner. We were warmly greeted by the bartenders and ended up sitting at the bar, where we met Bryan. He took amazing care of us and paid attention to every detail. Bryan knew what we needed before we even knew we needed it. I like limes with my taco & as I'm squeezing limes onto my tacos, Bryan brought extra just in case I wanted more. Very thoughtful of him and excellent customer service. My boyfriend dropped his fork, Bryan was right there with a new set of silverware. We asked him where he recommended desserts and he said: "Besides the Churros and Bread Pudding we have here... there is...". Say no more, he got us at Churros. My boyfriend LOVES Churros and requested ice cream with it. Bryan definitely made our first experience here wonderful and memorable. We love the late night ambiance, the tacos, and the amazing customer service we received. Highly recommend this place! read more

Very good food. My tacos were excellent. The spicy corn dish is awesome - don't miss it. It's a little loud in there, but it's a lively and positive environment, so that's OK. We had a group of five and we were treated very well. Will be back! read more

Austin's hidden gem! Loved all the food here especially the bread pudding, it was out of this world fabulous. I had a prickly pear margarita, delicious. My daughter and I shared the Tostone appetizer that tasted just like the ones in Puerto Rico. I had the tempura fish tacos and my daughter had the the shrimp tacos. The fish was hot and tasty and the shrimp was huge and flavorful. The service was prompt our waitress was very personable. The manager was also walking around checking on the guests. Thumbs up from me! read more

This is the best place ever! I love it! Everyone is awesome who works here! And the food is the bomb!

I liked how this place mixed various flavors together to create awesome tacos. I'm not from Austin so I probably wouldn't revisit this place as one of my go-to joints like some other places, but I definitely think it is worth a try! read more

Our service was great through and through. Our glasses were never empty and we were check on before we got out food and twice after. Robert (our waiter) was personable and kind and fun to talk to. Tried this place again and it's even better now. Brussel Sprouts and Moroccan Chicken are a must.

Yummy tacos! Good service & nice place. Not terribly expensive. Lots of cocktail to choose from too.

The restaurant wasn't open on the busiest night. Despite of Yelp and Google saying it's supposed to be opened until 1:30am, they were CLOSED throughout the day. Okay sure it's Labor day and they want to close. But they should At least Update their Hours on Google and Yelp right? Besides me and my husband, there were 3 more groups who came by and left. Me and my husband were left outside of the restaurant on a Rainy Night!!! What the heck! Horrible experience!!! read more

Both the food and service were great! Unique and classic taco options. I got tacos for dinner and the churros for dessert. I recommend trying if you want a casual spot for tacos. read more

First full meal in Austin and it was a doozy. I didn't know it, but the poutine "bar snack" was a mess of a plate that my body has been craving for a long time. The bulgolgi taco was small but fantastic, and as a meat eater, the PETA was a delight. Drinks, especially the Oaxacan and paloma by the sea, were balanced and smooth. Also loved the array of bravado spice co hot sauces. Don't be dissuaded by the fact that its a hip, polished place across from the convention center- there are some impressive eats to be had here. Despite all the great food in this town, it's not to be missed on a visit to Austin. read more
