Was so disappointed Aunt Chilada's isn't opened for lunch or early happy hour any longer. First time back to AZ in a few years and this is always our go-to Mexican spot. Got here when they opened at 4 and sat at the bar as service is enhanced and fun to watch the drink making action. Immediately received chips & salsa to go along with our Margaritas. We ordered guacamole and it was obvious it was hand-made, chunky and delicious. Ordered the street tacos with 2 pork and 1 carne Asada. All were tasty and plenty of meat. Got to love the name play of the business name too. Atmosphere - Beautiful old school charm. When you pull into the parking lot, you are amazed by the white and blues of the place. Almost Greek like in the colors. The interior is showing the age. Food Drink - Order a Pacifico, did not see the beer list until after the fact. I am the only one that drinks at the table, but we only have one drink menu and it did not get to me. The table fails here. LOL Appetizer - Classic free chips and salsa, nothing special here. Linner - I love burritos, and they had one on the menu, $17. I know but it looks like a great sit down place. The burrito was nowhere near that value. I went with carne asada, and the burrito was packed with just that meat. That sounds great but there was nothing else. Which normally would make me very happy. The meat was horrible, I except my asada to be grilled, little tender seasoned nuggets of beef. Instead their version was as if it was taken out of a boiling pot and placed on the tortilla. Bland to say the least. The burrito was good size, and they must of used the Texas sized tortilla. Two to three layers of tortilla to get inside the burrito. The burrito is also covered in either green or red sauce, I went Christmas, half and half. It did not matter, the burrito was put into a salamander, and the sauces were pretty much just baked on top the point it was just crust. Service - Part of the group was already here and we found them in the back. One drink menu for six people, really. So no splitting checks of parties of 6 or more. Ain't that the reason you want to split checks because it is a large group and one person should not have to figure it all out. I know it is not just this business that does this. But it is annoying, so I just paid for everyone. They took care of us another night. Otherwise it was just okay. Future - Hmmm, maybe. My husband and I were so excited that they reopened since I had such a positive experience here pre-COVID! Unfortunately, the menu was extremely limited and the food we did order was simply put just not good. We ordered the queso as an appetizer, and I kid you not it came out about one minute later, room temperature and tasting exactly like the Land O Lakes queso they serve at my school's cafeteria with chunks of tomato added to it. Absolutely terrible- we were expecting something warm, fresh, and flavorful. The fajitas were about on par with the queso. There were limited peppers, but heaping portions of corn and black beans on the dish. The refried beans tasted like nothing and the rice was not even remotely warm and also tasted like nothing. We were so disappointed, and unfortunately, I don't plan to give them another chance. read more

It's so nice to have Aunt Chilada's re-opened after 2 years! My friends and I have loved them for their group spaces, delish eats and drinks and being in a fairly-central location. Plus..it's been around since the 80s so YOU KNOW it's a good local love. An oldie but a goodie! With the soft opening in late April/early May 2022, they are slowly bringing back the food menu but have a full bar menu (it was a front-and-back paper menu, single side of food, single side of drinks). Our server let us know AC's management brought in a new F&B manager who wanted to make a splash with drinks, which is why the beverage menu is more complete than the food. Our server was wonderful- he's one of the bartenders and made sure all of our drinks were to standard. Unfortunately one of my friends had to wait longer for his tacos because they weren't made correctly (?) and there was a large party ticket after us. But our server bugged the chefs to get his done before the party so he wouldn't be nibbling on chips & salsa forever. The food? Just like I remembered. Amazing tacos and salsa. Ask for some spicy salsa. I was the only person to order a fish taco. Yolo and order one for yourself. read more

The tortillas were hard. I've had better food from a can of soup from Campbell's. I am greatly disappointed in this establishment. My wife had the enchiladas. They were dry and also didn't have much flavor at all the rice and beans left much to be desired for. Another great disappointment. For the price of the food that was payed I had great expectations that fell flat. Never will we return to waste our money at this restaurant. Absolutely horrible! My husband and I joined the waitlist, where it stated we should be there in 10 minutes. We checked in, then proceeded to wait another 20 minutes before we were seated. When we finally got to our table, we were given water and chips and salsa, and the server disappeared. Another table was seated near us about 10 minutes later. The server took their drink order and left. After another 15 minutes, he came back and proceeded to take their food order. It was at this time that we decided to leave. Very cute restaurant! Huge outdoor seating with string lights and heating lamps. My husband ordered steak burrito. He said it had such a bad odor to it that he couldn't eat it. I ordered the steak dish that comes with 3 flour tortillas and rice/ beans. That was pretty good. My kids shared the steak quesadillas and surprisingly it came with a whole lot of quesadillas Their supposedly known for the best margaritas in town so they say....so I decided to order a margarita and oh my goodness, I've never had such a sour margarita in my life! Arrived at Aunt Chilada's hangry with a couple of hangry colleagues/friends. Sadly, there was a long-ish wait but there were many tables open inside and outside. Based on our observations, there just weren't that many servers...causing a longer wait. But the wait was worth it. We ate our faces off. Starting with a pile high of chips (that kept getting refilled), salsas and guacamole, we almost filled up on that. But...we kept going. (The spicier, darker salsa is outstanding). I spied street corn and buzz sawed through that so happily that I was humming and dancing in my seat. We ordered a mix of different fajitas and other items...and we thoroughly enjoyed it all. I realized that after I ordered the fajitas that they had street tacos....so I would go back to just try those out. Authentic flavors, textures and fresh ingredients. I wanted to post an excellent review for this restaurant, the food was very authentic, everything that we ordered tasted great and they serve potions that you will be taking home a doggy bag, in house warm chips with two salsas to start, appetizers that are huge, and their entree's have great flavor, very inviting people and staff, excellent service and the place is like walking into a restaurant and having two private casitas in the back through a huge outdoor space where you also can eat, they are very accommodating to you're requests and their prices are worth the try of their food. read more
