Available on Ubereats and convenient to order. They even had a few Buy One, Get One offers. Overall, the quality of the food was delicious. The service was quick as my driver had to my office in no time. In the future, I'll try to visit this location to see the layout, ambiance, and overall aesthetic of the business.

Visited for the first time and just got a birria quesataco; I had never had one before. I must say, I was impressed. The meat was tender and flavorful, the consume was just as flavorful and they give you a healthy amount. Originally, I was going to get two, but I'm glad I did not, as one was like two. The place was clean, the service was quick, and it was reasonably priced. Next time I go ill try their burritos and nachos.

    The Nachos big portion tasty.

Clean establishment. Not good customer service. Cashier cared more about her lip gloss and being on the phone than greeting customers. El Jefe look upset. When asking about the burritos he seemed irritable. Nachos where good. Food tasted fresh. However I'm big on Customer service it was my first time there.

El Jefe's Tacos 4923 E Chandler Blvd Phoenix, AZ April 16, 2023 Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Portion size: 5/5 Visit: picked up lunch for my family wanted Burris quesadilla and bean burritos. Food: We ordered one Quesabirria and one Carne asada fries arguably one of the best in the valley. Drink: Ordered one horchata, this is a must try here at el jefes. Service: Togo order, Service was great and food was prepared correctly and under 20 minutes, service was also fast and Lunch for 3 only cost $22.

Tasty Tacos Been here a few times but until today I have never written a review. All I can say is, if you like tacos, El Jefe Tacos not disappointed. I ordered the quesabirria. The tortilla was crispy and soft at the same time, the meat was flavorful and plenty. One of the better Tacos I've had in a while. My sister had they fish tacos Which are battered and fried upon order. I can't wait to try other menu items on my next visit. Great food and service, wallet friendly pricing, give this place a try, you won't regret it.

    Cheddar bacon omelet breakfast burrito

The staff, specifically the cook who was running the stove, was rude from the moment we stepped into the restaurant. I ordered a bacon cheddar omelet breakfast burrito....the cook was acting a little strange in the back and taking a while to cook our meal. (Also ordered 2 tacos). The cashier confirmed our order, we tipped them and were on our way. We get home and I go to take a bite of my bacon cheddar omelet breakfast burrito and it looks a bit soggy and oily....but I still give it a shot. It tastes just like a soggy tortilla with what I think is just fat and the disregarded ingredients the chef intended to throw away. I thought the eggs may have been just further down toward the bottom of the burrito. I took one more bite and then realized that the cook intentionally gave me an entire greasy tortilla filled with all of the end trails of the bacon and scrap pieces they were intending to disregard because they were just not edible nor safe to be consumed. We went back to the restaurant and inform them of this and they had nothing to say. It was a clear sign of unsafe practice of food handling. Stay away from this restaurant....

What was in the El Jefe Box

I give this place a 2 for the pastor that came in the fries. If you like ballpark food or movie theatre food or really cheap Mexican fast food you will like this restaurant (?). We ordered their large nachos with carne asada. I requested all avocado products to be packaged separately because I'm deathly allergic to avocados but my husband loves them. To use the word "nachos" to describe what was in the box is an insult to nachos. There were chips thrown in a small sized pizza type box with asada thrown in.....nothing more. I will include a photo of the sides which were meager and one of them completely unidentifiable. We also ordered fries with pastor. The pastor was decent but the fries were limp and soggy with grease. We ordered, picked up and were home within 10 minutes of picking up the order so the food and the cheese soup that was the topping for the nachos should have at least been warm. Not the case. Extremely disappointed to spend good money leave a 30% tip for food that is so inferior. To call this Mexican food is disrespectful to Mexican food.

The restaurant is inside of an old brick home with wood interior and warm colors. The service was good-- friendly and food came out at a good pace, we were checked on regularly. We ordered an appetizer and then entrees from the lunch menu. The aguachile appetizer is SO good. It's bright, fresh, and has a lot of flavor in the green sauce. It reminds me of a ceviche type dish due to its raw butterflied shrimp that is marinated in the house made chile serrano & cilantro citrus sauce. It was awesome. We were also given free chips & house made bean dip. I ordered the mixed two item plate with a chile rellano and taco corazon (grilled taco dipped in a red chile sauce, stuffed with shredded beef & melted cheese. Topped with grilled onions). The black beans and rice is also tasty. I tried a bite of the other dishes, and I also really liked the brightly colored spinach & cheese enchiladas with pink sauce ( signature beet sauce). I look forward to trying other items from the menu, I was eyeing the steak Mexicano or red snapper. Those dishes sound good for dinner.

The restaurant has a small bar of three seats to enjoy some drinks.. initially we were just going to have margaritas for six dollars during happy hour but decided to have guacamole as well for $10 on happy hour. Guacamole was excellent and came with a bean dip. To complement, our guacamole and chips we checked out the salsa bar. The salsa bar has over six choices of salsa. One of my favorite salsas was hibiscus. We enjoyed our quick happy hour so much that we hope to come back for dinner as I see Mole is on the menu. The staff was super friendly and attentive. I hear that they have open a second venue not too far from the original place. They have an event venue. Their original place is in a former church. The architecture inside is very interesting due to the roof structure.

Out of all the restaurants I had before leaving Arizona, THIS ended up being one of the places I couldn't stop thinking about after I moved away. Ever since leaving, I've randomly craved these tacos constantly. I've tried other taco spots in Denver hoping something would compare, but honestly nothing really hit the same. So when I came back out to Phoenix recently to visit some friends, this was one of the first places I knew I needed to come back to because I had built it up so much in my head over time. And somehow... it was just as good again. The meat tastes incredibly fresh, flavorful, and well-seasoned, and you can literally watch them prepare everything right in front of you, which makes the whole experience even better. There's something so satisfying about seeing the tacos being made fresh instead of food just appearing from the kitchen. You can tell they care about quality and consistency. The servers were also super friendly and welcoming both times I came here, which honestly makes such a difference. Everyone had great energy, the service was quick, and the whole place just feels inviting and authentic. I honestly think the fact that I remembered this place so vividly for so long says everything. Usually when you revisit a restaurant after hyping it up in your head for years, it ends up disappointing you. But this place tasted exactly how I remembered it, fresh, flavorful, comforting, and absolutely worth the obsession. Safe to say this place is officially a mandatory stop for me anytime I'm back in Phoenix now.

Also bring a group. The portions are huge and the food is clearly meant to be shared. Trust me on this one, bring friends. I've tried a bunch of dishes here, and there are a few I always go back to. For the table, Camarones Locos is an easy choice. The flame grilled shrimp comes out hot and full of flavor, perfect for passing around. La Patrona ceviche tower is massive and worth the order. When it hits the table, you immediately feel good about the decision. El Pulpazo is technically an entrée, but we always order it as a shareable. The octopus is grilled perfectly and it comes with rice and beans, so everyone gets a little of everything. For entrées, my number one pick is the Lobster and Crab Enchiladas with green sauce. I think about this dish at least once a week. The enchiladas are packed with lobster and crab, and the green sauce ties the whole thing together. Honestly, I could talk about this place all day. If you like Mexican food and seafood, you need to try it. Great food, big portions, and a menu that makes it hard to stop ordering.

This review is for the totality of the experience…read more I made an advance reservation at Alma Scottsdale for a mid-sized group of 7 to celebrate a special occasion. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.
