But even after cleaning it out, the smell wasn't going away. Then the vent started giving off either smoke or steam, and in a panic I immediately turned off the dryer. Thank God I didn't start a dryer fire. The second I shut it off and made sure everything was ok, I opened Yelp and searched for a dryer vent cleaner. Chris's Insulation came up, he had great ratings, he was super close by, so after calling a different service and going to voicemail, I called Chris. Chris picked up after the second ring. When I told him that I needed someone to clean our dryer vent and what had happened, he said he could come out either between 5:00 and 6:00 pm that evening or the next day. It was already mid-afternoon when I called, so I was surprised to hear him say he could still come out same-day, but I decided to have him do that since I was free and also still a little shaky following what happened with the vent either smoking or steaming. Chris showed up during the window he quoted and wasted no time getting to work. He started the second he arrived and was done within the hour. His pricing was incredibly reasonable and fair and so far, in the couple of weeks since he was here, we've had no issues with the dryer. Before he left, he also sent us a ton of pictures of what the vent looked like post-cleaning. Super happy and relieved.

They were in and out in a day, made sure not to make a mess on our carpets, and the house has maintained a much more consistent temperature through the most recent heat wave. Nice! There was a little miscommunication about an add-on service, but when you do a few hundred jobs a year a couple of them are gonna go sideways. This add-on wasn't an attic service, and our expectations probably put the job a little outside of their scope, but even so they didn't disappear, they kept saying "We wanna make sure you're happy," and they negotiated a solution that was more than fair. Honest business.

When we talked to Cesar G. Explained all details about our issues & he gave us a very honest recommendation what we should do to fix our issues. He's not try to sell products like others and the costs overall better than other companies. We decided to work with Element Home Solutions. Turnout we don't have to replace our HVAC, we're only installed new insulation on our attic & duct system. The experience and process from beginning to the end in three days was excellent. The teams are on time & keep our home clean after each day before they leave. Mac at Element informed us all details on our Ducts testing & City inspection appointments all went very smoothly. We're definitely will replace our HVAC with Element in near future. Make a long story short and these are our ratings below. Thanks to the teams from Element. 1. Costs (5 stars) 2. Quality of work (5 stars) 3. Professional (5 stars) 4. Trustworthy (5 stars) thanks to Cesar D. 5. HVAC/Insulation recommend to our families & friends 100%. Anyway, we told everyone don't trust our recommendation. Please call other companies for a fee quotes and make sure to call Element Home Solutions requesting Cesar D., then you will understand why we choose Element. Thanks for reading our review & have a blessed day.

This spring, our other furnace was shut off by PG&E for leaking carbon monoxide. I contacted…read moreElement to replace this and initially did not intend to get any other quotes. Ernest came and was again very thorough, but we did not use Element again due to: 1. Inflexibility about using our existing floor air intake. This is a large 3-ft opening in our living room floor, but Ernest wanted to make another large opening on the other side of the living room. Aesthetically this is terrible in a historic home and I pointed out that this would lower the value of my property. We had in-depth discussions about dimensions of ducts, locations of vents, etc., but ultimately Ernest was not able to commit to an alternative plan and I was not willing to sign a contract without knowing what the end result would be. 2. Pricing increased a lot for a similar job only about a year apart. Due to Issue 1, I sought out 2 additional quotes, which were about $10K less than Element ($32K). Both installers did not have any issues with keeping the air intake where it was. Had Element been only $5K higher than competitors and kept my air intake location, I would have gladly gone with them again, but 50% more is a big price difference.

We had rodents dancing above our heads at night in our low head-room attic. We called Attic Pros…read morewho did a cursory "inspection" and recommended complete replacement of attic insulation, replacement of most A/C duct work in the crawl space below the house, sanitizing, and sealing up "all" entry points for critters. It was very expensive but we went with them mainly because the "inspector" (a salesman through and through) had excellent English and promised to personally manage the project. He answered one subsequent question and then disappeared, never to be heard from again. The estimated 3-day job took 3 weeks, with schedules shifting daily, different crews, minimal work days, redundant and often incorrect communication via text and email, and no explanations of what was going on. The crews were friendly but spoke minimal English. It was difficult to understand what was done, not yet done, or not intended to be done. Once they left, the critters remained. Staff came back 3 or 4 times to seal additional openings ... to the wrong area (crawl space rather than attic). The most recent visit by Jorge was very good. He had good English so his explanations were understandable and helpful. He found and fixed two more openings - these at roof level - and recommended a spray that can repel rodents from returning. I bought and used that (why don't they do that themselves?) and the first night at least was the first "quiet" night in months.

That's exactly the type of professional I want because you can tell they truly have your best interests in mind. His team was also great when it came time to do the work. They went extra distances left and right to fix things along the way and point out new issues. Their dust encapsulation and safety gear were very great to see as well because it shows attention to detail along with care for the customers as well as their own employees' health. Everyone was extremely experienced and the work was completed on my home quickly and efficiently, with everything having protective plastic sheeting all the way from my front door to the work areas. The sales rep that came out to do the initial inspection and to give a quote, was very experienced and answered all my questions. We agreed on a course of action, and I later discovered I needed additional work, and he worked with me on getting that added. The workers arrived even earlier than expected on the day they were working on our house. They clearly had all the appropriate material and machines and equipment to do the job correctly. I feel very good about everything that was done and I would definitely recommend them. Everything was left clean and there was nothing I had to do to clean up behind them. The reason I am not giving five stars (only 4 stars) is because of the paperwork having multiple errors, and they took weeks to get me the pictures of the before and after shots of the work they did. I asked them to correct some errors I found in the paperwork, and even found more errors and had to ask them a second time to correct the invoice for my records. I also questioned whether the correct insulation was put into a certain wall, because the paperwork was incorrect. It took a physical callback from a different person to physically check, and he didn't really seem to understand clearly what the problem was. I showed him pictures of the insulation rating that I took for that wall, and he was about ready to go and purchase the insulation and redo the specific wall I was questioning. But then he just called the installers and they told him they put the correct R-Rating on that wall and then he left. He clearly was not trained well enough, and I still don't know if the correct insulation was put on that wall. All the hassle of the paperwork correction and reinspection of the work was not necessary if they paid attention to details better. But other than the paperwork and questioning a specific wall, the actual work was professionally done and these guys clearly are a good professional organization. Just keep an eye on the paperwork and go over all the lines of work in the contract before you sign it. Don't rush and sign what they give you. Read every line on the contract to look for errors. As far as the value for the service and work, they were right in the price range I was expecting. Don't hesitate to use them.

When Elmer came out, he took about 30 minutes to walk through the house and gave us a completely different--and much more reassuring--assessment. He also suggested installing an attic fan to improve air circulation. Throughout the visit, he was straightforward, knowledgeable, and very approachable. We decided to move forward with the attic fan. Umar updated the contract promptly and even came out personally to help program the fan and connect it to my phone.
