This company is exhausting. Was doing fine with my service and consistent billing for over five years, and then suddenly they decided to increase my rate by almost 40%. Notified me by a very subtle email and then one day, a few months later, I noticed the size of my bill. I called, and per usual, sat on hold until I was connected to a lovely woman who unfortunately was trained in the ATT "let's remove any semblence of self-awareness" program. She failed to recognize my issue and instead tried to upsell me. After I stopped her mid-sentence, we settled on the fact ATT f'd up and I was being overcharged. Instead of sitting on hold while she read through all the ridiculous plan options (while still upselling), I opted to hang up and try on my own online. Fast forward months later, and I'm waiting for my TMobile SIM cards to arrive. read more

Thank you to Chris for the outstanding service we received today! Both my husband and I came in today to upgrade our phones and we were delighted to work with Chris. He was extremely helpful, quite knowledgeable, and the consummate professional! He made the experience, which can typically be pretty lengthy and complicated, very easy and breezy. Would definitely recommend, though, that AT&T consider hiring more staff. Chris did a fantastic job, but was constantly hounded by rude customers who were impatiently waiting to be helped. Chris was the only one in store and received the brunt of all of this impatience. Despite being threatened (which was totally uncalled far), he continued to be extremely professional and emphasized that they would help the waiting customers as soon as they were able. 5 stars for Chris. 3.5 stars for the staffing shortage. read more

Today, I stopped in this store since it was near Susie Cakes and I was in the neighborhood to pick up a yummy birthday cake. First, there were no customers in the store and three employees there when I arrived. The employees said hello when I came in ... but it was nearly 5 minutes before anyone actually came over to help me. The one girl kept going into the back and doing things at the cash register and did not acknowledge me there. Once she came to help me, it was a rough start. I had my receipt with me to replace a Zagg topper that cracked. I bought it at AT&T. I had the receipt. And I bought one for another phone and it had to be replaced before and it was with ease. But not at this store. Oh no. The manager Ty did not want to help get this simple request done. It's so interesting. When you buy something from the store they make it seem so easy if you need it replaced or insured... But the problem is, and when you actually do go to use the service, they make it impossible. And that's what happened today. And I did not make it easy and chose not to. So I left the store unhappy and unfinished. I will simply go to another store and see what happens. Hopefully I'll get someone much better than Ty who actually wants to help. read more

I can't with this guy! We didn't even get a " Welcome, how can I help?" from Darin. He just sat there gazing at his device while having a conversation with someone on his phone that was in his pocket. I said "Hi", he just looked at us like we were really annoying him. We arrived there 2 hours before closing. His behavior was as if he was ready to leave, and f*ck anyone who came in. His attitude was SO sh*ty, and he had NO customer service skills! Not to mention his pants were sagging way down his thighs, showing his underwater to the point my girls asked me why his pants weren't on properly. We simply needed help with a return. He couldn't even figure it out and called for somebody for help, which wasn't helpful at all. We tried to engage with him many times and got no response. We were clearly an annoyance to him. When we were finally leaving after around 40 minutes of nothing but a bad attitude from this guy, I still said, " Thank you, have a great night." He completely ignored that, too. Don't come here. I walked in to buy an iPhone. That's it. Super simple and a profitable 10 min for whoever picks up the request. Staff was dismissive, inattentive and was more concerned about upselling me on plans I explained five times I wasn't interested in. On the 6th time of saying I just needed a new phone as the employee was talking about the amount of my bill outloud to the store, the guy looked at me like I kicked a puppy and said "excuse me I'm speaking to her" (the other employee). So we walked out. What the hell happened to customer service, basic decency... I've literally been going to this AT&T since I got my first cell phone like 20 years ago. Go elsewhere. Bought new phones with trade-in (while researching options, was told that this store which was upselling AT&T Internet had no internet/wifi in store and that it was out for months). Rep told us that we would receive phones and return envelopes for trade-in in a few days. We received phones but no return envelopes. We went in to store but a different employee said that the trade-in value was now lower. Suggested we come back next day and talk to the original rep. Next day, store was closed during business hours (hand-made sign that rep was "on break"). Later, Customer Service rep emerged from the back and closed it right in front of us saying she needed to go home and we should come back the next day when "Chris" would handle it. read more

It is generous to give this store a 1-star. I went in to buy a new phone, I did my research and knew what I wanted. The person who initially helped me was new, and was unable to answer a single question w/out going to the manager for clarification. When he and another worker went to retrieve my phone from the safe, I was told this may take 15 to 20 min. After waiting 20 min I asked the manager, what could they possibly be doing that it takes over 20 min to get the new phone from the safe? His response, well that sales person new and is being taught. We were there for close to 3 hours today to get new phones. The gal that helped us had been there for 2 months. My new phone could not be synced to my old one after all that time (she messed it up) so I left the phone there to finish syncing. I get there 2 hours later to pick up my phone to be told it had not synced yet. The paperwork the previous gal had done was all wrong and they couldn't credit me my old phone because of her mess of the paper work. Now they want me to come back again when the manager is there to fix that problem and that person will not be there for a few days. No one told us that the new Iphone 16 pro needs a totally different adapter to charge to the outlet, so that's a problem. When you go to this specific store (which has been terrific in the past) make sure you get a sales person that knows what they are doing. After almost a month of major screwups by AT&T in Pleasant Hill and one extremely unhelpful visit to the Walnut Creek Store, I went to Lafayette. Taylor helped me in about 20 minutes. He was super polite, apologetic for the other stores and verified that I was getting all the discounts I was entitled to. The store was clean, comfortable and felt welcoming. If the DM for this area see's this--You need to send this guy to train your other stores. They are so lacking in customer service. Taylor is the best. read more

I don't usually write Yelp reviews. And writing one for an ATT seems strange. But I had such a refreshing experience there yesterday I just had to share. The woman in charge of the store was so incredibly helpful, competent and human it really made my day. We had a n issue with a phone we ordered and it didn't arrive at the house. Within 2 minutes she was able to figure out what was going on and had a resolution for us. It was a really pleasant surprise and a far cry from trips to ATT in the past. The place feels really sketchy. The attendant there wouldn't answer any questions until I gave him my driver's license to scan, then he kept asking questions about personal information claiming you couldn't give me any answers until he had entered those in his computer.... Really weird vibe overall and not at all customer oriented. Where do we start? Could it be when I called and asked if they took appointments and the woman said "no", walk ins only? Then lied that she never answered the phone. Or when I asked about the iphone15 promo and the woman said, "what promo is that?" The promo featured on your large advertising banner in the store! Or maybe it's because it appeared she was the only worker in the store until a guy came in for his appointment (!). What was the other worker doing while we all waited around? Waited one hour for service, was welcomed initially when I walked in (a hi hello thanks for coming in), then wasn't spoken to or acknowledged for the 60 minutes until it was my turn for service. Through the wait, reps were chitchatting with customers about things other than phones and services the entire time (which I completely understand in terms of building relationships with customers), but when there are other customers in the store for 60+ minutes there should be some sense of urgency to get to the waiting customers. This potentially could have been related to someone calling out and being short on staff, but management should figure out something to combat this issue... whether it's hiring employees who know how to speed up the sales process when needed, or staffing the store more effectively. Or even a floor manager checking in with the waiting customers. Note that this store did not have a "make an appointment" option on the website when I checked before my visit... so my recommendation is to take your business to a store that has this option... or gamble with a long wait time. Lastly, when helped, the rep did have a thorough answer for my question which is why I'm giving two stars instead of one. read more

Today I went to AT&T store in Lafayette with some issues and needed help. The salesperson (likely she is new)asked me how she can help. Any question l had was answered with "go online ". I attempted to explain that I've been online that's why I'm here in store, she would confine to tell me to go online. I honestly felt like she wanted me to go out of store. I was taken aback at how badly her customer service was. But the manager (MIKE) approached me and helped answer my questions. He took the time to helped me, he was patient and very kind. I love the guys in this store. Jamal and Chris not only held my hand and walked me through the entire insurance replacement claim (after seeing how many times an Iphone can be run over by cars and still sort of function after leaving it on top of my vehicle), AND then fully put my Humpty Dumpty life back together again 2 days later after receiving the replacement phone by restoring my whole system, they additionally were super fun to hang out with in the considerable amount of time it takes for the full restoration process. The lesson learned was to try as hard as possible to not leave your phone on top of your car and drive away but the silver lining is knowing if you do, you'll get to hang out with these two super nice guys. I wish there was more I could do beyond writing this review for the employees of this store...the training, dedication and empathy that all those that we worked with showed was truly above and beyond. As far as stores go (decor, selection, stock, etc...) it was average, but the lengths that the employees went to ensure we had a positive and well-informed experience was tremendous and very impressive. Penny- jumped in to help us midway through to help speed up the new service/phone set up process for me and my wife. She was highly personable and great to work with. It felt like she genuinely was excited to help us. When we hit issues with our (3rd party) phone delivery, she troubleshooted with me on the phone and even provided her cell for me to follow up with - eventually resolving the problem (even after hanging on for 20+min with me). She even (unsolicited), texted my wife to let her know that both her and Ghewa would be at the store after 6pm close, and one of them would be sure to be there to make sure we got set up in the same day. You could tell that not only did Penny have a positive personable attitude, but it was clear she was going to do everything in her power to help us that day. This level of service felt extraordinary and uncommon for these days. Ghewa - I left today being absolutely in awe of Ghewa and her skills as a manager and as a coach for her employees. She was highly efficient & personable when working with her, sure. But what was even more impressive was the way she supported and developed her team. In multiple instances she had "teaching moments" with her team (having them present offers to us, ring up our specific discounts, and jump in to parallel process our consultation). It was readily apparent that the competence and demeanor of the team was a direct reflection of her leadership. I even overheard Ghewa coaching a jr team member (after the individual completed a visit with a guest) asking them to reflect on the visit and think about what could've been done better/differently and write it down. Again, the level of connection, competence and support we felt from the entire store team was downright surprising and impressive (my expectations were very low going in tbh). If someone from AT&T corporate or field/region wishes to follow up on this experience, I'd be happy to share all of the things that played out during this experience as I think 1) this level of professionalism really should be recognized/rewarded 2) this experience had a number of teachable/repeatable positive moments and other stores could really learn from Ghewa and her team. Both Penny and Ghewa were absolute rockstars. read more

This had been my att store for years. We just walked out unhappy and without a phone. Walked in saying we wanted to turn in our old phone and buy a new s10. We wanted to be in and out easily knowing what we wanted with money in hand. The sales associate had us repeat three times that we wanted to get a new phone. Then a manager Mike came up and said that we were being rude, for getting exasperated for explaining it three times. That is when we turned around and left. No wonder there wasn't anyone in the store when we got there. read more

My old AT&T phone locked up, so I ordered an upgrade over the phone with AT&T national. They botched the order in giving me a new line ( I simply wanted a new phone WITH my old number), so the Enjoy Rep that came by my house helpfully informed me that he could cancel the order, re-do the upgrade with another phone, but I would have to return the faulty-order phone myself to a local AT&T store. I dropped by this particular store and Naj regretfully informed me that theirs is not a "corporate store", i.e. they cannot process my return for me. Fine, well, not fine, but the Enjoy Rep should have told me specifically to take it to the appropriate type of AT&T store. What Naj did do is figure out how to get a Security Key for my Microsoft Lumia 640 LTE. I couldn't get the Key at home, so that was a breakthrough. And even though it eventually didn't work ( my guess is that Microsoft has completely withdrawn support for these phones ), the phone is still locked, I am grateful for Naj being not only friendly, but proactive in problem-solving to the best of his ability. I highly recommend to retrain or fire all managers on the floor. I spent 45 min and none of them appeared to be knowledgable to any of the customers present. It took over 30 min and two tries to put a prepaid plan on an unlocked att phone, a task that took 5 min at emeryville location a year ago. read more
