I would say it's good Italian food for Oahu.... That being said, the bar is pretty low here. Like, it's obviously better than CPK but it's definitely nothing compared to New York or somewhere actually in Italy. I got the carbonara pasta and it was quite yummy, but a tad bit greasy. I thought the price was reasonable but that's probably because I ordered the small portion. The service and atmosphere are both okay. It is a little more upscale, just FYI. Parking is pretty difficult because the lot is small so be prepared to drive around Kahala or wait for someone to leave. Would I come here again? They sat us on the Diamondhead side of the restaurant and the wall touching our table was so dirty I sat away from my friend so it wouldn't touch me. There was also what appeared to be a fly or gnat infestation in the area. The server was busy so he barely came by. Our food came out at different times which made it difficult to enjoy our meal together. When the food runner showed up he never offered any extras - black pepper or Parmesan cheese. Such a disappointing lunch! The chicken sorrentino, which I've ordered many times, lacked any flavor. The mushrooms appeared to be CANNED. My coworker's been craving Italian lately and offered to treat me to lunch, so I didn't want to pick anything that'd break her bank. When she asked where I wanted to go, I said Assaggio sounded good--and she made a reservation at the Kahala location. We were both running late because of meetings, but I called ahead and they were super chill about it. Told us, "Just come when you can." Love this place already. Tbh, I thought it might be a little bougie (Kahala vibes), but the service was great--friendly, not pretentious at all. We started with calamari and shrimp cocktail--solid choices. Assaggio's is known for decent Italian cuisine on Oahu with three locations. The one entree that stands out and I order every time is the Chicken Saltimbocco with roasted potatoes instead of pasta. It is my favorite dish there. Sometimes I switch it up by having veal instead of chicken. I always get the large portion so I have leftovers. I love pasta! But I may love Assagio's house salad with their delish pickled veges even more. Just don't inhale while taking a bite. Or perhaps their fresh bread with butter, dipped in some parm while waiting for my food. Yummy! This time, we did take out right before they closed. We got the Cesar salad & the server makes it right in front of you. For appetizer we got fried calamari which was good. I got the combination seafood and shared with one of my daughters. My son isn't a pasta type and didn't see anything he liked except the steak, which was good with the Caramelized onions mushrooms and potatoes. There is ample free parking in their private lot that they share with all the other businesses in the building. When you enter, you'll immediately see the cashier counter. To the right and left is the dining area. The place is clean and similar to all the Assaggio restaurants in decor. If you don't want to dine in, they offer take out as well. This most recent visit I picked up take out to see clients. I ordered the Chicken Anchovy Olio. The order came with bread and cheese. It's definitely not the same as dining in as the skin wasn't crispy by the time I ate it. The dish had decent flavor but I found it lacking a little. From other reviews, I read some orders were great while others were too salty. The kitchen probably has to work on consistency but it's been tough for lots of restaurants after COVID-19. With that said, the order wasn't bad but it wasn't great. The bread was dry and very disappointing according to my clients. We didn't eat more than a couple bites of it. Fantastic food and service! We decided to dine in for my brother's birthday. It was surprising to see only a few people in the restaurant. Everyone in my party ordered the filet mignon. The meat was soft and flavorful. Sawyer was our waiter and ensured all of our needs were met. My steak was too rare at first, so the waiter patiently took the dish back to the kitchen and the steak came out perfect. He even waited for me to cut the steak with a knife to check inside. Our waiter was a stud and remembered my brother's birthday by giving us a slice of the chocolate mud pie birthday cake at the end of the meal. My family and I have been coming here ever since they opened for birthday dinners/special occasions. Parking is located right outside the restaurant (they used to have valet before covid) and we usually make a reservation beforehand. I think the food at this Assaggio's location is the best out of all the ones that we've been to so far and the staff here are all so attentive and friendly. Haven't come to Kahala Assaggio's in quite a while but it was a special occasion. We celebrated my sister ad cousin's birthdays and I had some gift certificates from my Christmas work gift to use. But maybe we were just lucky. Our party was seated just to the right of the entrance but it still felt really quiet and private. Not too much traffic other than the 2 tables around the corner and our servers. My uncle and cousin got the ceasar salad so it was cool to see the guy make it. All the times we ever went to an Assaggio's and we've never gotten that. Definitely something to get again. Of course there was more than enough for 2 and my aunty gave me some of her share. Yup, gotta get this next time we come back. After much internal and external deliberation, I decided to get the stuffed eggplant, regular plate so I could take some home. I like this cause it's so cheesy, there's eggplant, and I like the noodles that come it this. I think the noodles are linguine but I could be wrong. In any case it's just tasty and delicious. My uncle bought a fancy bottle of wine which everyone had a small taste of; I don't usually do red wine but this one was nice and smooth, not too dry. Don't ask what is is cause I have no idea. I shoulda taken a picture of the label. I really appreciate that Assaggio's has always let us bring our own cake for birthdays and they will hold it until it's time for dessert. My cousin brought the cake but I think she got it from Zippy's... side note, Zippy's makes good cakes. Always been an Assagios fan, but lately the portions and quality have gone completely down hill. The meatballs are half the size from a year or two ago, amount of vegetables and just overall quality has gone downhill. Prices have increased and sizes have gone down. I understand costs have gone up, however you should never increase price and decrease size. Sad to say I will not be wasting my money anymore here. This review is based on my experiences here the last few years. Haven't gone in a few months, so if ownership has changed, maybe it's improved? Love the ceasar's salad - one of the best in the islands. The other dishes are generally pretty good, though there is often lots of garlic which enhances the flavor but can cause upset stomachs for a few days. It's worth it to me to endure LOL. Servers are generally pretty good, especially when they are preparing your ceasars. Negatives are that the manager /owner isn't the best to deal with if you have issues with the food, which arises from time to time. He isn't really customer service oriented and will openly complain in front of you. Very unprofessional. Also negatives for charging extra for so many things - want to change the type of pasta from linguine to fettucine? Extra charge. More sauce on the side? Extra charge. Any changes to the menu, extra charge. Some servers are cool and will not charge you, but your mileage may vary and it's always good to ask when you request changes. That being said, the fact that I have to bother my waiters with asking whether or not I'm going to be charged extra fees is really tiresome and something I don't like having to do all the time. So despite my love of the food here, I try to avoid going here because of that - as well as the unwelcoming owner/manager. read more

Love Assaggio's, the food is consistently good and service prompt. I made a reservation for Valentine's Day lunch the day before (!!) and was pleasantly surprised they had availability. It ended up being pretty busy but not overly so. We were seated in a booth at our request, and it was so comfy! They had nice pillows that were nice support for my back lol. Love the booths and they provided nice spacing and privacy. I ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and my husband a glass of Peroni. The drinks came very quickly. To eat, we had the calamari sticks, Chicken Assaggio and chicken anchovy olio. All the dishes were perfectly cooked and delicious. Chicken anchovy olio is my fav, the chicken has nice crispy skin. I think since there's new management, I've noticed the pasta is really oily and buttery even when I've asked several times for way less. I'm sure some people like it this way but I always get queasy after I eat their pasta so need to remember to order just their salad.
