Regular Bowl. half romaine/half pasta, cucumbers, feta, chickpea salad, souvlaki chicken thighs, green goddess dressing.
    Cassie B.

I love that there is a healthy food option at the Ala Moana Food Court! You basically build your own salad bowl, from the base to the protein choices. Every protein choice I've gotten here is really good - I especially love the steak and the chicken. The portions are really generous, and the dressing options are numerous. The service is quick (since they make the bowl to order and right in front of you). The price is a bit high, but it's Ala Moana food court so it's to be expected. I am a huge fan of this place and recommend it if you're in the mood for something healthier while you're shopping at the mall!

Regular size: half Basmati Rice & half Romaine Lettuce, cucumbers, hummus, garbanzo salad, falafels and tzatziki sauce

Curiosity led my husband and I here while waiting for our boys' order of Mr. Cow and we're automatically drawn to their falafels and assortment of salads and veggies. I'm not a big fan of basmati rice in general, not just here, but I feel that it lacks flavor. BUT little did I know, the sauces and dressings that they provide help curb that issue. I should have followed what my husband did instead of just asking for one sauce! I loved it here! Needless to say it was a lighter and healthier choice than a heavy rice plate and then having to walk around the mall with regret.

Fresh and delicious , my favorites are the hummus, pickled onions, hummus, harissa dressing. I can't wait to try the falafel

Still love this place. Great service, tasty entrees. This time got a large bowl, so 2 entrees-- great portion size for $20. However, got a huge clump of dirt in my salad. So it unfortunately messed up the entire bowl.

Love the delicious gluten free options Filling and under $25 I've gotten the falafel, salmon and chicken options. I always get a cumin basmati and greens base mix, roasted purple potatoes, humus, chickpeas, and lemon dressing. So delicious!! I get the biggest size to be full and have breakfast the next day with whatever is extra!! Yum!! I've taken it to go and each at ala moana beach park under the trees or at the beach.

Absolutely love this place. There are pre-prepared options, and design your own salads. If feeling lazy then I usually buy premade salads either ceaser salad or possibly a middle eastern dish with falafel. On days I do make it your way..I choose regular size with the base, 2 sides, meat and sauces on the side. They have lettuce, rice, beans, cucumbers, tomatoes. Various cheeses, variety of dressings and the proteins...shall I go on? My favorite part of this experience are the meat varieties...salmon, grilled chicken, Mediterranean flavored beef, and the list goes on. Topping the dish with your favorite sauce or not is a nice finishing touch. Service is great! Super nice staff! Helpful! Clean kiosk and very bright which is inviting. Nice ambiance because it's in the crowded food court. One of the better food options!

Haven't been to the food court over a year and a half cause all the food there is mediocre, but was hungry and decided to see if there was any new places and found this place amazing just look at the picture also smells so good and healthy at the same time. I will definitely be a regular so glad there's a place like this in the food court now.

As a vegetarian, I was surprised by how many choices there were and how good everything tasted. The falafel was definitely my favorite, and I like mixing the pasta with the greens to make it more filling. The portions are big enough that I usually have leftovers for another meal, which I love. The people working there are always really kind and make the place feel welcoming.

Still my go-to spot for lunch or dinner whenever im in Ala Moana. Alex behind the counter is super cool, he's been working there a while now. They offer likely the cleanest eating in the entire food court. Freedom of choice is key when you want to eat and they allow you to choose what goes in your salad.

    Caesar Wrap
    Sunny V.

Located on the Makai food court. They have Build your own plates and options of cold or hot to go plates. I chose a Caesar Wrap. I chose this as a quick snack to share. The price of the wrap is kind of average but the chicken seemed like a bigger portion than most places, so that's why I chose it and it was pretty good. I really liked their house made Caesar dressing!

Mixed green salad with Grilled salmon, tomatoes, cucumbers, purple sweet potato, pita chips with evoo and herb dressing

Here on vacation and decided to visit the Ala Moana mall. This mall and food court are both fun and lively. Tried Roots and Greens. Got a salad with mixed greens and salmon. The whole salad was amazing. Got it with beets, tomatoes, cucumbers, purple sweet potato and the evoo and herb dressing. The grilled salmon was probably the best salmon I've ever had at a mall and could easily have been served at a high end restaurant. The man at the counter was nice and friendly. The food court is packed with many delicious less healthy offerings so not surprising that there wasn't a line at this place, but if you want a healthy and delicious meal at this mall and you enjoy grilled salmon, definitely try out this place.

First time at Roots and Greens and I loved it. The menu has so many great options, but I went with the chicken plate with yellow rice and a good serving of sweet potato. It was flavorful, filling, and didn't feel heavy at all. The portions were generous enough that I had plenty left for another meal. This place is perfect if you want a clean, healthy meal that still tastes amazing. I can see myself coming back often.

Half rice, half salad; steak for protein; and hummus, feta, and boiled egg for the sides (green sauce is the green goddess)
    Kira K.

I think my husband and I may have just found our new favorite place! The pics of the food here looked delicious so we decided to try it out for a quick lunch. My husband and I each got a "regular" size ($15.99) which comes with a base, 1 choice of protein, and 2 sides. I opted for half saffron rice, half salad as my base, and for my sides I got hard boiled egg pieces, feta cheese, and hummus. I got the steak for my protein. For the sauce, I got half of my plate topped with the Greek yogurt sauce, and the other half topped with the green goddess sauce. First off, omg, the portion is HUGE! It lasted me 3 meals.. I'm not kidding LOL. And for only $15.99??! What a great deal! Especially in today's expensive times. Everything about this plate was perfect. I was a little worried because a lot of places have those chewy or extremely fatty pieces of steak that are basically inedible.. not here. The steak was perfectly cooked, seasoned, and tender! Impressive. Everything on the plate was delicious, and both sauces really brought everything together so well. I honestly can't decide which sauce is better lol. I also tried a bite of my husband's plate (same choices, but with pesto chicken as the meat), and their chicken was surprisingly tender and not grisly at all. Delicious food, huge portions, and really friendly service.. what more could you want? I highly recommend trying this place! We will be back for sure.. most likely within the next week hahah

The Bocconcino Whipped Burrata was a recommendation from our waitress and this was my favorite dish! So thankful she recommended it. I have never had anything like it before. The dip is made from roasted beets, walnuts, and pomegranate molasses. Because it was whipped, the texture was so light. It was perfect. The Greek Salad and Brussels Sprouts were only ok. I did not expect there to be as many tomatoes as there were and I wasn't really a fan of it for the price. My husband enjoyed the scallops and he recommends giving it a try. The restaurant is super clean and spacious, and they play some awesome classic rock music. You order and pay at the counter and they will bring you the food; the lady at the counter was extremely friendly and very efficient. You need to bus your own table when you're done, just place the used dishes, glasses and utensils in the labeled plastic tubs, not a big deal at all. Now, the food is the star. We order baba ganoush with pita, super gyro with zucchini fries, and a soup and salad combo. The baba ganoush was so delicious, and the pita was warm and soft. The super gyro has so much yummy meat in it that the pita can hardly hold them, and the zucchini fries were crispy and not oily. It also comes with a couple really good tzatziki sauces. My wife really enjoyed the avgolemono (lemon and chicken) soup and greek salad. She was so pleased with the combo that she had to order an extra takeout combo for her friend to try. On top of all that, we finished our great meal with a baklava sundae; two fresh crispy baklava pastries with a scoop of vanilla ice cream drizzled with cinnamon and honey. This desert is a must order. The restaurant is mixed in with a lot of other restaurants and shops in a large strip mall, so it maybe easy to miss. They didn't feel heavy or greasy at all, they were thinly breaded and super fresh and crispy. I would go back just for those. I love the way the lamb was seasoned and the baba ghanoush was delicious I might even prefer it over hummus. Not pictured, but I even got to try their garlic fries which also weren't greasy either and they had lots of garlic! I got to try their spanakopita as well, super flaky and crispy. For me, everything was a 10/10. It ended up being a lot more food than expected and perfect if you're looking for something healthy, light, but also filling. The environment was calm and the lady who was there was super friendly as well! I'd be back all the time if I didn't live so far!

While doing so, she was wiping down the counter and continuing her tasks without turning away, wearing a mask, or taking any precautions. Seeing a staff member cough directly onto the food is completely unacceptable and a major health violation. Needless to say, I left immediately without ordering. I am sharing this in the hope that management will take this seriously. Employees showing signs of illness should not be working with food, and basic hygiene protocols must be enforced to protect your customers. I truly hope you will address this with your staff immediately so this does not happen again.

I'll start with the food since that's the easy part: it was good. Everyone saying "fOoD qUaLiTy chAngEd" needs to take a course on cognitive biases, because the food tasted the same. Great as always, will be coming back for that. Unfortunately, I had to dock one point due to the FOH service (or lack thereof). We tried the new ordering system at ~5:15PM, and were quoted 6:20PM pickup. Arrived and checked in at 6:20PM and was told "Food is not ready yet." Fair enough, I squinted to see the finished orders but can't read the names, so I took their word for it. Proceeded to wait for 15 minutes. Checked back in, and was given one of the orders that was sitting there since I entered the restaurant. I told the person working the counter that I was here when the order was right behind her the whole time and had to wait for 15 minutes without being notified at all. No sympathy or apology. I understand a busy restaurant is hard to work through, and I know the position the worker has been in. But if you are going to incorrectly tell a customer to wait, at least apologize and own up to it. Not sure exactly how the takeout system works, but if it's difficult to tell which orders are complete, there's probably something wrong with the system. The only reason this review isn't 3 stars is because the food was as delicious as I remember it, and thankfully it wasn't cold after I waited for no reason. That being said, I will be coming back for sure. It's hard to stay away from the souvlaki for long, and I'm glad to see that business is doing well. Just make sure you tip accordingly *after* you get your service.
