The food is top-notch. I've gone there a few times now and have always been happy with my meal. Our last order included General Tso's tofu and sesame shrimp: both were excellent and exactly what we were looking for at the end of a long day. Like a lot of other reviews on here say, the service is excellent. Really, the folks who work there are fantastic. I've always had a good experience when I go in there. Good Chinese food in the DMV is hard to find unless you live in Chinatown. I came here from all the great feedback and I must say Asian Grill lives up to its billing. It's a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for with great quantity and quality of food. It's not greasy and they use fresh veggies. The menu is unique and has your typical Chinese dishes. Hidden gem ! I've never dined in, as I always take out . However , from the phone call to picking up my food , the service is wonderful. The food is delicious and always fresh . It's not "cheap" Chinese price but neither is the quality. You get what you pay for . I love that there is a variety of food that allows you to satisfy your craving ! Thai red curry is SO good ! The restaurant was packed and the staff were literally running around to serve but none of them showed irritation, annoyed or any negative energy. Definitely like this place. We came here to celebrate a birthday for a pair of twins that I know and the good service started there. My wife and I showed up first and we were greeted warmly and then shown the table. The lady started breaking into a bunch of Chinese when I said thank you in Mandarin and I quickly had to tell her that we were Korean so she would switch back to English. Lesson #1 - I need to learn more Korean than 'hello,' 'goodbye,' 'yes,' 'no,' 'thank you,' and 'I'm Korean.' The food was good too - I liked the orange beef and pork fried rice. If I had to get critical, it would be the hot and sour soup and the crab rangoons. The soup wasn't hot and the rangoons had a weird filling inside that I couldn't describe as melted cream cheese like I'm used to. But they were still palatable. After dinner, the gentleman that I guess is the owner was very entertaining. Besides giving my friends a pair of Kirin dolls as birthday presents, he brought out a set of what looked like kewpie dolls on a dish. We watched in a dumbfounded stare as the dolls sang happy birthday followed by him pouring hot water on the dolls. The dolls...then...peed on us. Yes, peed. We were shocked but apparently they were toy soaked in cold water that shot the water out when the hot water caused it to expand. Utter hilarity ensued for about 20 minutes following that. Great experience - but the restaurant is a tad far for me and The Wife to make a frequent trek out here unless we're going to meet up with our friends in Fairfax. read more

I love this place. It's the best Chinese Food in the DC area, IMO, which is a crazy claim but I'd stand by it. They use all white meat chicken, for starters, and all the food actually tastes clean and fresh. It isn't like the Hunan's Hunan Hunan down the road in that grungy strip mall. The owner of this place owns Ho's Dynasty in Burke and obviously learned from a lot of the mistakes of that place. Instead of being another generic numbered-dish Chinese carry out depot, this place is actually a robust pan-Asian restaurant that specialized in their Chinese food. Don't believe me? Had dinner on Christmas Eve from this place with five people who live in DC and they were all blown away at how good this little restaurant in Springfield was. They even talked about making the drive out to the 'burbs just to get some more of it. When you're willing to drive 20-30 minutes to get carryout, you're doing something right. read more

A remodled version of it's former self. For those that might remember, it was called Fantasy Garden. It used to have a pretty typical Chinese resturant interior. Now, they've revamped and made the place look a bit more upscale. Not in a bad way either. It had been almost a year since we had gone. (My now removed gall bladder made eating chinese a bit hard) I so badly wanted their Schezuan chicken. Not surprising at all, the hostess remembered who we were. It seems she can remember everyone. She sat us down and the cutest and friendliest waitress came over to us. She joked with us about everything. Even gave us little plastic animals for our soda. The portions were huge as always. We ate, drank and were merry. They asked us if we wanted dessert, but we were very full and declined gracefully. They brought us a small dessert anyway (on the house too!) I always recommend them when someone asks about good chinese food. The crispy chicken is so good. The staff is so kind. The place is very unassuming. And, it can be very packed on a weeknight. Very undercover place that has really good food with VERY reasonable prices! They have a really cool fish at the entrance too that will follow you from one side of the tank to the other (never seen any other fish do this before). After reading the reviews on yelp I had to try this place. I'm a self proclaimed Chinese food snob and this place is the real deal! I ordered an egg roll and General Tso's Chicken. This is one of the best eggrolls I've had in YEARS. At the end they give you more items to further along the insulin induced coma-sugar covered fried dumplings with apple-carmel crap inside...YUMMMMM. The owner was so sweet and kind, he came out to chat with me and offered extras. I LOVE this place! Update: been back several times at this point. I've also had the Lo Mein, Egg Drop soup, crab dumplings, and Seasame Chicken. I've never walked out disappointed or disgusted. I say it's one of the better Chinese (Kung Pao and Orange Chicken Chinese) restaurants in the area (DC is not the best place to look for good Chinese, but it still says something). It's not what you expect from a restaurant, tucked in a suburban shopping mall... The food is not greasy or heavy, even if it's deep fried. The seafood is always cooked perfectly, the sauces are light, the staff is friendly and you even get a free deep fried wonton with apple filling and cinnamon sugar in addition to your fortune cookie at the end of your meal. Now that's a good package. When I discovered this spot, I went there three times in two weeks! You'll pay few bucks more than in, i.e. nearby Hunan West, but, as one of the hostesses politely bragged, they use really fresh ingredients and change their oil frequently. And your belly can really feel that. Here you won't stuff yourself with a greasy mediocre all you can eat buffet food. Instead you'll get a generous platter of quality food for a reasonable price. My husband and I just moved to the area a few weeks ago from CA, we've been looking around for a great Asian restaurant/ takeout place and we are SO happy we found Asian Grill tonight! We called an hour before they closed and ordered take out! They had it ready by the time we got there! The owners (a man and woman that greeted us) are the nicest people we've met since we got here! They talked to us for a while and they were so friendly that even if the food was bad (it wasn't bad though, it was terrific) I'd go back just because of them haha. I have been going to this place since high school and grew up just down the road. When my sister became a vegetarian about 10 years ago, my family had no idea what to do with her. We were all heavy meat eaters that frequented Shiros at least once or twice a month. Unfortunately, my sister couldn't even handle having her veggies cooked on the same flat top as my steak, so we were in a pickle. Then my Aunt introduced us to Asian Grill. The owners are the nicest people. Always ready with a hug and a handshake when he comes over to chat and check on your meal. The staff is fast, thorough, and friendly. All-in-all, just by the service, this place makes top marks. And then there's the food. The absolutely glorious food. We started going here so my sister could get tofu and veggies and I would be lying if I said that now my entire family didn't order tofu almost every time. I don't know how they do it, but they make their tofu perfectly; soft on the inside, with just a little crisp on the edges that melts in your mouth. Even the vegetarian/vegan restaurants in the area don't hold a candle to them. Their kung pao is my boyfriends and my favorite, my sister loves the thai basil, and my parents alternate between the rest and the Emperors Chicken (yes, chicken, you can ask for it as a substitute for the shrimp). They have a huge menu, and I have tried really hard to try new things, but I just can't get enough of the kung pao tofu and the Emperors Chicken (Incidentally- the sauces for both of these are AMAZING together with rice). I now live in Reston and miss this place desperately. Every time I go to visit my family, we eat here and if it was up to me, I would order enough takeout to supply me with this deliciousness for every meal of every day until I could come back. read more

Let me start with a disclaimer. I am very weary of Chinese food restaurants. I heard about this place and was told that they are very sanitary, use quality ingredients such as clean oil and boneless chicken breasts, and the restaurant itself is very clean. What a rarity... I ordered a bunch of different entrees for about 9 people including sweet and sour chicken, curry chicken, garlic chicken, shrimp in lobster sauce, an abundance of egg rolls, etc. You're getting hungry aren't you? Then my girlfriend picked it up and the Owner was supposedly the nicest Chinese dude in the world and knew every single customer that was in the joint. He had a 15 minute conversation with the girlfriend and her mom. Another rarity. The food was legit. It was definitely quality stuff and well made. The egg rolls were clean and it was obvious the oil was clean when they fried them as they weren't dark brown. I had a little bit of everything and it was all very good. The best part of this was knowing that everything was prepared...clean. You when you get Chinese food and you can't tell if something is beef or chicken or pork? Well you can at this place. Extremely pleasant to order in person, however if you order online you have to call to make sure they have received your order and run the risk of waiting another 12-20 minutes for your order- if that happens they may offer you tea or soda to accommodate you. Having moved from Hawaii where we actually separate the different Asian cuisines... I was worried that I wouldn't find a good Chinese restaurant nearby, let alone within the neighborhood. Even though I know sushi restaurants that are run by Chinese, I really don't fully trust "Asian" restaurants that lump a bunch of Asian cuisines (e.g. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai...) together. So it's great to see that Asian Grill is simply a Chinese restaurant despite their name (ok... they do have Pad Thai, but let's ignore that). Dishes are tasty without being oily or overly heavy. Good variety unlike other places that have only a couple basic sauces where all the dishes taste the same. Food is not overly Americanized and the owner will happily suggest specific dishes if you're looking for something closer to home-cooked Chinese food. Staff is always friendly and pleasant. Food is fresh. They use white meat chicken! Asian Grill is my first choice when eating out for Chinese food. read more

A wide ranging menu that takes some risks while still managing to nail your old school favorites makes me one happy eater. Some highlights: -The service. It is an absolute pleasure coming in to eat at their restaurant and feeling like you're amongst friends. -Menu experimentation that combines American favorites with Chinese favorites. Buffalo Orange Chicken Wings. If you've ever wondered what THAT combination would taste like, it's way better than you imagined. Trust me. -"Typical" Chinese dishes done very well. I'm a sucker for orange chicken. The orange chicken at Asian Grill comes out steaming hot, generously proportioned, and full of flavor. Enough to take home for lunch the next day. That's a winner in my book. For those who remember Ho's Dynasty, Asian Grill fills that void in your stomach that had been empty since a certain overrated Mexican restaurant came in and took over a few years back. Party of seven for a birthday work dinner. The service was so refreshing and welcoming. A family owned establishment that cares about each individual experience. As you can see from the pictures we ordered quite a bit and everything was delicious. We were given complimentary teasers of chicken skewers of generous portions. We enjoyed all of our entrees and they kindly accommodated us with our own cake we brought. They played the longest birthday song I've ever heard during the cake event. My favorite entrees were the szechuan shrimp and Mongolian shrimp. The owner even gave myself and the other birthday girl ox figures that symbolizes good health and fortune. Gotta love that. Everyone in my party enjoyed the food thoroughly and had an awesome time. The staff was amazing. The owner and manager checked in on us and were very friendly. This is the best Chinese restaurant I've been to in the continental US and Hawaii. The food serving is generous for the price. The Lo Mein Shrimp is delicious and not so oily. The grilled beef is just perfect. The fried chicken is the right crunchy. The meat is cook perfectly to maintain the moisture inside, while capturing the seasoning and flavor of the meat. The shrimp fried rice was flavorful and not too oily like the Lo Mein. The restaurant was very clean and well maintained. The restaurant owners were extremely friendly, generous, and welcoming.
