The rice and pork were perfectly cooked and the flavor reminded me of all classic Chinese cuisine. I enjoy that the restaurant is quiet and has ample seating. Arrive to pick up order that is prepaid, Two behind the counter. Just as I start talking, phone rings. It occupies one of the two. Point to the take out package (mine), 'She nods and sits down behind the counter, does nothing to help. The phone order takes a long time with discussions. Finally, it's over and I can ask for my pick up again. Name doesn't do any good although I can see it on the receipt. Have to cite what was ordered. Rude! Nothing pleasant about the experience. Ordered from Uber. Food quality was grease that had a chew. Fried dumpling filing was under cooked. For spending over $100 we certainly will not be ordering from here again. Of what was edible it was the ketchup of American Chinese food. Spring rolls were mush, egg roll was chewy oil, "spicy" general tso's was less spicy than gochujang, some how the packets of mustard had no taste, fried rice was more boring and homemade white rice, and orange chicken was just disappointing. If you're used to those old buffets that only seem to exist in small towns in the south you'll enjoy this I'm sure, otherwise don't bother. Thank goodness the dining area is open again! This is more proof, that while covid is a concern, it's now an endemic matter. Used to go in here for carry out last couple of years, but being back in to dine is a wonderful thing. The staff here are really friendly, and food is up fast. A clean establishment, and also quite comfortable too! My personal favorite is the chicken with broccoli, but they have many more entrees. Think around 30 to 35 choices. Their spring rolls are the best in the area. There's nothing like a meal from here, because it absolutely will fill you up. The prices are quite reasonable for the quality. The salt and pepper tofu has been a big hit in our family. We have been ordering that and the sesame chicken. We also like their pan fried noodle and beef and broccoli. Took 25+ minutes for the to go lunch special to be ready -- I assume at some point it became ready, but I had the abandon the order to avoid being late back to work. The food is okay, chicken is better than the beef, the beef is stringy and chewy. Kinda typical meh Chinese place. One of the folks up front also competent, understands my order every time. After I wrote a review, the owner had requested me as a friend on yelp as well as writing me a message. It took me a while to decipher what he was trying to say since English isn't his first language, but the message seemed pretty rude itself. We ordered through an app called BeyondMenu, not by calling the restaurant itself. Regardless of how far our house is, the restaurant and the app should have set a 3 mile radius in their own contract. When ordering through a third party for delivery, who pulls out their phone to check how far restaurant is to their house? Makes absolutely no sense. The app itself showed us that this specific location is close by to our house. Also, our house is within a 3 mile radius. I'm not sure what GPS system the delivery lady was using, but we after her comment, we checked Waze and it is only a 2.5 away from us. As shown in the picture, the owner is extremely impolite. I don't always believe that customers are always right, but at the same time, the owner did not have to be so rude as well. The delivery lady also did not have to be so rude to tell us not to order from there again either. Once the restaurant received the order, they should be able to see our house number as well as our zip code. If it was too far, the restaurant could of called and cancelled the order, which honestly would of been perfectly ok with us. If that did happen, we would just order something else from a different restaurant. No biggy. All in all, this restaurant completely lacks customer service. You know how typically when you get egg-rolls delivered they are a bland greasy mess? Not so much here! Also if you like veggies that taste like veggies (as I do) and not mush or freezer burn you will be ecstatic that theirs do! They also offer combos with fried rice that are only a dollar more than their lunch special. That's awesome! All the food portions are decent size, price is more than fair; and the flavors are what we would expect from a chinese takeout. My family has been a customer to Hong Kong Express for many years, and we had been very satisfied, but that has ended. Several months ago, apparently the owner decided to save money by reducing portion sizes. The "large" plastic dish at HKE became 80% the capacity of the original dish (2 cups vs 2-1/2) and the servings left abundant space in the top of the container, while previously they were stuffed full. Dishes that include sauce have only minimal sauce and, as a result, they are not as tasty. My wife and I had been able to get two enjoyable meals from a purchase, but that is no longer feasible. I live about 5 minutes away from the store but tonight, the rice had cooled off too much to eat without reheating. The egg rolls were drenched in grease, so much remaining in the wrapper that the paper napkin I used to soak up the excess became wetted with cooking oil. I estimate at least a teaspoon of oil came off the egg roll and plenty remained. The egg roll tasted greasy. The prices have remained the same as before, but the quantity and quality has dropped so much that I am a sorely dissatisfied ex-customer. I will not return to Hong Kong Express in Springfield. read more

They have the best chicken wings for a chinese take out place. I just love their wings and mumbo sauce. During covid they have a plexiglass barrier so you cant go into the store. We order over the phone and pickup. You walk up to the store and theres a mic that you communicate with and they put the food through a glass door and you pay through a small credit card slot. You can also order from your car. Other items that we tried were crab ragoon, egg drop soup, general tsos chicken and kung pao chicken. Which all were pretty standard. The crab rangoon barely had any cream cheese and we probably would not order it again but the chicken wings were the star of the show. We would just go here for that. read more

My mom discovered this place for its amazing egg rolls. I went in for myself to try the egg rolls and the food, but the food (schezuan shrimp, pepper steak, general tso, lomein) was not very good. Portions were mediocre and the flavor was too covered in grease to notice. The egg rolls are greasy but the filling has shrimp, beef and veggies so it evens out...or so we thought...I ordered 20 egg rolls for my family and we found a mysterious dark colored object in one of the egg rolls. We are guessing it is part of a box. So gross. I am attaching pictures. Also, customer service is not that great. I asked for the hot chili oil sauce, and the worker or owner gave me 3 small packs. I asked for more since I ordered a large number of egg rolls, and she retorted that the amount she already gave me was "a lot". Not happy. We ordered an amount of food tonight for a couple people plus some lunch leftovers. Delivery in the past has not even a problem until now. A sweet girl delivered but the food was halfway mediocre. Let me start with the mobile ordering. It wouldn't allow me to add free crab rangoon coupon so I added that in my comments. Guess what? No crab rangoon, even though I qualified for it. $33.60 subtotal. Egg rolls came so greasy I use four napkins to squeeze mine and it was still dripping grease.... Disgusting and not edible. There's $3 pissed away since we ordered two and they came soaked. Chicken Wings were greasy.. and we had to peel the skin off to ingest them. Entrées arrived seemingly OK but someone overfilled something and it sloshed all over the bag. Leaky containers are not cool. Not happy with them right now. As soon as i opened the door he first words out of her mouth was do you have another dollar, i said for what and she said to add to my tip she wouldn't even give me my food unless i gave her the extra dollar. First off this was rude and very disrespectful i don't care who you are you never ask for a tip, waitress don't even ask for tips and they do so much more work then these people. I called the manager and his reply was well they need to make a living too. i said i understand that but you DO NOT demand money from someone for food you have paid for. My wife and I order regularly from here. We have both gotten many dishes from here and have always found the price to be very affordable and the food has been very good. Good chinese food is hard to come by and this place delivers. I am surprised by the amount of negative reviews, I do understand this is not the BEST chinese food but you get what you pay for. Finally another food option near my office! This place recently opened and I've now eaten the food from here twice. I can't say the food will blow you away but I can say that the portions are very generous. Both times I was in the mood for 'general tso's' chicken which I know isnt really the thing to order if you want authentic chinese but it was pretty decent. The first time it seemed a bit fresher than the second time, but both times it was good. (i ordered later after lunch and between dinner). Menu is extensive and they have a lot of lunch special options that only cost $5.95 and I couldnt even finish it all when i ordered it. I'd say the food is really more of 3 stars 'a-ok' quality but the generous portions make me give it another star. To sum up, I wouldnt come out of my way to come here, but if you want a quick cheap meal this place satisfies. read more

I always get excellent service here, fresh, hot and fast preparation of food - and it is CONSISTENTLY perfect! The prices are extremely reasonable, and they are always friendly when you walk in. The store is extremely clean, and very bright. Tables are set up for customers, and they are as happy to take your order for take out as they are for dining in. I have to say that I agree with other previous posters. To me, the standard for a Chinese restaurant is how their eggrolls are. I've had plenty of greasy, chewy, and otherwise bland eggrolls elsewhere. We are always VERY impressed with the fresh and crispy eggrolls from this store, no matter what time of day you are ordering! Never chewy, always crispy and fresh, they are excellent here! And, if you look at their online coupons they sometimes offer two for free with a minimal order. They include every item you need when you order, and I have never had to go back and ask for anything more. Orders are consistently correct, and so hot that even after the drive home I have to blow items off before I eat them because they are just that hot. I really appreciate that they separate the chicken from sweet and sour chicken from everything else, and their fried rice is great! No mush here - fresh all around! Really, I am happy EVERY time I go here - thank you so much for being an excellent restaurant so near by!! I do have one question, though.....ever since moving to NoVA I have not seen anyone who even knows what shrimp chips (prawn chips) are, and they never serve them with soup. Honestly, we order from this place like twice a week. That's how much we love them. They always get our food here quickly and it's always hot and fresh. What I like that they're not overly saucy, so you can taste the actual food. Plus, it's minimally MSG-y. And the menu has a zillion items on it. For $42 for lunch including tax this is what the six of us got: 2 orders of Hunan Chicken/hot & sour soup Chicken Egg Foo Young/hot & sour soup Spicy chicken lo mein with wonton soup and eggroll Szechuan Beef with eggroll and a soda Chicken Noodle Soup with extra chicken I am the one who ordered the chicken noodle soup. It's a giant container of hot hot hot chicken stock filled with parboiled chicken, broccoli, water chestnuts, carrots, and pea pods. They put the ramen noodles on the side in a separate container so you can mix and match your meal. I've had this, the General Tso's chicken, and Chicken with Broccoli and I keep coming back to this one. The establishment was clean, they guy who took my order was friendly and spoke and understood English easily. I happened to have to use the bathroom and that was clean as well :) The food came out quickly, hot/fresh, and was very good (I got chicken and broccoli). Broccoli was perfectly done (not undercooked OR soggy) and generous without making you feel like they're trying to rip you off by filling your plate with vegetables instead of meat.
