Got it delivered and it was the Worst Chinese ever!! Egg drop soup, two dishes, egg rolls, all of it was awful. Don't expect to get more than a1-2 soy sauce, or any other sauces even if you ask for it. I have been buying in this restaurant for years and always enjoyed the food until last night. I ordered General Tso's chicken and the meat was terrible terrible. I googled it and it's called Woody chicken breast. It's either bought as a pale white chicken breast or it's overcooked at high temperatures that it damages the breast muscle. The service was good. I ordered Cashew Chicken and it was the worst meal I have had in a long time. THE worst cashew chicken I have ever had, by far.The chicken was most crusty, overcooked, and poorly seasoned. It was actually hard to chew. The fried rice was flat tasting. The vegetables were few, mostly zucchini. It appeared that it was some leftover battered, tiny pieces of chicken with hard crusty texture. That might have been microwaved. At least that's what it tasted and appeared to be. The hot tea I ordered was fine. I wasn't going to complain until I answered their question if I wanted a to go box. I said no and the waitress asked why. I told her that it was the worst cashew chicken I had ever eaten. She said, sorry and brought a bill for over $20. After trying Hunan Taste a few times during the Covid19 pandemic, it has gone right to the top of my favorite Chinese restaurants. The Hot and Sour Soup, my first item to check out, is delicious! Very flavorful and medium-thick. I like the Szechuan Chicken while my wife has enjoyed the Kung Pao Chicken. Entrees come with a choice of white rice or vegetable fried rice. For appetizers, we have tried the Spring Rolls (order of two) and the Steamed Meat Dumplings. There is always enough left for a second meal. We have ordered delivery via Doordash and have picked up carry out in person. We'll look forward to eating at the restaurant in person when it is again possible. read more

This place is my go-to for chinese takeout. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are perfect. Only once have I ever had a takeout order take longer than 15 minutes to be ready. My personal favorite dish is the mongolian chicken coupled with steamed dumplings and a wonton soup. The mongolian beef is a close second. The staff is always friendly and very focused on making sure the food is coming out fast. If you happen to be in the Springfield area, I recommend giving this place a try for lunch or dinner. read more

Had those who received food waited for other dishes to come out, theirs would have been cold. It wasn't that busy. No explanation from our server. This is my husbands and I favorite Chinese takeout restaurant that's close to our home. Every time we order out the food is hot, tasty and nicely seasoned. For today, I ordered the Mongolian beef lunch, egg drop soup, an order of crab Rangoon's and a mango smoothie. Everything was great, only the beef was a bit more on the salty side. Food is very good, but they f**k you by saying that you get free items when you order more than a certain amount on the in-store menu, but when you order online, there is no way to get the free stuff. When you go into the restaurant and ask for the free item, they say "no you're not supposed to get free stuff"...so they f**k you. This happens almost every time we order. BS! It's been 2 years since I found plastic in my soup here, so I decided to finally go back. No plastic this time, but the food was disappointing. The Beef and Broccoli was relatively bland, and the broccoli overcooked and a little mushy. Kung Pao Chicken was very salty and not spicy at all for what is supposed to be a spicy dish. The egg roll I had was good, with nice crisp wrapper. We were there an hour at dinner time, and no other customers came in. I tried this place twice and sadly both times was quite underwhelmed. The first time it was just bad. Like the food tasted like it was cooked a few days ago and reheated bad. The second time was marginally better but I have to be honest, this isn't the best Chinese food. The general chicken (white meat) was tasty but we ordered a full order of pork fried rice and the rice was just not very flavorful. The main taste was frozen peas and carrots. The restaurant is kept super clean with special air filters in the ceiling. For being over 20 years old, it looks new. Very nice ambiance. The staff is friendly. here is what I tried so far: 1) sweet and sour soup - was really spicy, but tasteless. never again. 2) shrimp toast - excellent. this is so far the only thing I like from their place. greasy as you can expect, but really tasty 3) shrimp sprint roll - they actually wrap a shrimp with a spring roll shell. but not worth it. taste is only ok and it is very small and puny. never again. 4) combination fried rice - the beef is just strips of beef from some unknown cut of meat. not the red pork found in better dishes. the rice was pretty tasteless. the taste of plain fried rice. the shrimp taste like shrimp, which is fine. the beef was tasteless, the chicken was tasteless. whole deal is just uninspired. as others posted, you get the feeling the rice is reheated. I have gone to this neighborhood restaurant a few times before, always been happy. But yesterday, 1/10/2023, I went and ordered our usual seafood pan fried noodles. The noodles were the wrong kind and it was uncooked, just BAD! I complained to the server and she said nonchalantly that sometimes they use that kind of noodles. My wife and I came here for carry out and the experience was hit and miss. The nice thing about this place is you can get your carry out food within 10-15 minutes, at the most. So after you call for carry out, you can just head over and pick up your food, and it will be ready. They also have a really nice dining area inside the restaurant. The food is average, it's not bad, it's not great, average is probably the perfect way to describe it. We ordered the kung pao chicken, which were expecting to be great, because we can name 4 other places off the top of our head where we absolutely love it, but it was average. The egg rolls were good, maybe a little crispier than it should have been. We've seen great reviews about the Thai restaurant in the same shopping center and will probably give that one a shot next time instead of Hunan Taste. We ordered 2 general tso and 1 beef & broccoli. I confirmed with the woman who took my order twice that my mothers order is to be made with "very light sauce" since she is a diabetic and cannot consume this- the amount of sauce her meal came with is unacceptable. The food all in all is great, but my mother could not eat hers unfortunately. We will try them again since we just moved here, but for the sake of my mothers health, I'm obviously very frustrated with todays order. Finally-some decent Chinese food in northern Virginia!!!! I moved here from Boston and have been here for a year. I've probably tried 6-7 different places and they've all disappointed. They weren't even mediocre. I saw some promising reviews of Hunan Taste and decided to give it a shot-I'm glad we did! We orders crab Rangoon, general tso, and shrimp fried rice. i usually order from this place rregularly. im talking 2 to 3 times a week. Todays experience was not so pleasant. When i arrived I asked for my order . she went in the back got my order and came back out. I checked my order and immediately knew I was scammed of the extra portion of beef I paid more money for . they typically give you a bowl full of green peppers and onions with VERY little meat. So today I ordered ahead and asked for no green peppers. very light onions and $3 extra meat. I got the lunch portion WITHOUT the extra $3 worth of meat I paid for. mind you I'm a regular so I knew better. the girl at the counter said it included the extra portion which I knew was not added. I still paid for the extra that I did not get a refund for and I left. I get back to my office to eat my lunch and once I put the folk into the meat to eat it it was IMMEDIATELY met with a puddle of OIL. NOT BROWN SAUCE BUT A PUDDLE OF OIL . I called the place back and they argued with me . I offered to send pictures to show it was oil not sauce. Lady told me she doesn't know what I'm talking about . She offered to remake it but I told her I couldn't leave my office again as I used my lunch break to pick up this terrible meal. When our usual Chinese restaurant was overloaded on Christmas Eve, we turned to Hunan Taste. I'm so grateful it turned out that way because now we have a second go-to Chinese place! The meat dumplings were out of this world--meat to dough ratio better than I've had anywhere. We also ordered chicken Lo mein and steamed chicken and veggies and both satisfied. It was fresh and flavorful. We started with the crab rangoon which I highly recommend. The owners are friendly and the service very good. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our evening.
