    General Tso's Chicken Dinner Special
    Sam J.

General Tso's chicken was below average. Coating was ok not too breaded but chicken was terrible. Small pieces that were dried out. Fried rice was decent. Wonton soup was below average as well. Broth was ok but wontons were tasteless. If there was a filling inside I never tasted it. I'm glad I asked for extra green onions or it wouldn't have had a taste at all. Service wise order came on time but they double charged me. Doubt I'll be ordering again.

Beef and Broccoli with Fried Rice.

Get the wings. They were bussin af. Especially with the Mumbo sauce. They come in a separate fee with fries or rice. But get the fries.

Broccoli and garlic sauce with the ugliest veggie spring roll ever
    Mark H.

Tried it again but no meat this time... just broccoli in garlic sauce and veggie fried rice and spring roll. Rice was good. Broccoli just ok... And very spicy. Spring roll I was afraid to eat... See the pictures.

A little overpriced for the food style yet I must have arrived at a good time because the chicken taised fresh and the rice fluffy. Food was served as typical East Coast Chinese food where everything is cooked separate having litery the five Chineese chicken dishes with Japanese and Comfort Foods. Simply Chicken and Fish items appeared on the limited menu so the eatery really wants to be Japanese with a menu item called a White Dragon so you might describe that in the rearview you write.

The chicken and broccoli was too greasy. But the hubster like the fries. Mumbo sauce sucked big time.

Took over an hour to deliver food a mile a way. The food itself was ok. Ordered general Tso. It was a bit chewy and the sauce was mediocre.

This place is really good. The best take out since I moved to DC. I got the moo shu pork and house fried rice.

But I made the mistake to order the Sichuan shrimp, it was totally disappointing and the shrimp were soft and chewy tasteless as opposed to succulent and firm. They could really use some modernization and/or renovation. I should have known something was wrong after I got there during peak lunch hours and no one was there. It was completely empty. Needless to say, I did not have the best experience here. Service here was lacking. My server never checked on me, never refilled my water and I had to track her down to get a box and my check. She spent most of the time yelling at people on the phone. They have a huge menu with a wide assortment of classic Chinese food. I ordered the sesame chicken, which came with rice. y food was ready in about 5 minutes. I will get right to the point. It was avergae to below average. I could not even eat it in one sitting and had to take half of it to go. I really did not like the flavor and the chicken just tasted weird to me. There are few places that I will not return for another meal. This is one of them. The service was subpar and the food was bad.

Stopped here because of the ratings and the cleanliness ratings on Yelp. I met a few Neighborhood patrons. I love DC. I love the culture. I used to live in DC but it seems as though my Texas accent is making me stick out like a sore thumb but the DMV is home. So many regulars come in and you know that it has to be a good little spot. We got the cheese steak, it came with American cheese not the white cheese... we got the beef and broccoli and also the orange chicken. I wouldn't give it 5 stars but definitely worthy of 4 stars. Customer service was great even though he had so many customers in and out who had called in orders. There are lots of carry outs off of this street so I'll know soon which is best!

The food is not inviting and bland in taste. I ordered two basic entres from the menu- shrimp fried…read morerice and peppered steak. The shrimp fried rice had more than enough rice -One eighth of the container contained a few shrimp the remaining 7/8ths of the container fried rice. The rice had plenty of brown color, lacked flavor, onions and eggs. The pepper steak had plenty of onions and gravy, very little peppers and steak. One had to search for the steak in the sea of gravy and onions. In general, both shrimp fried rice and peppered steak were very skimpy with respect to the main ingredients-shrimp and steak. The wait for the order was the best take away. The carry out needs a face lift to make it more inviting. The Carryout is along a strip of other small food business and vacant storefront buildings. The kicker is the business does not take credit cards- accepts cash only. What a bummer! The food is so bad the business only accepts cash.

Since Soupy Dumpling & Fancy…read moreCuppa was too far away, we walked into Dumpling Hot Pot Beyond after an evening school event on a Thursday around 7 p.m. One other person was just finishing their meal when we arrived. Overall, the food was good. Once seated, a server hands you an iPad where you'll order your food. To feed two adults and one child, all hungry, we ordered dan dan noodles, orange chicken, cucumbers, BBQ pork bao, pork dumplings, and, of course, soup dumplings. Every dish had good flavor. The dan dan noodles are more soupy compared to nearby Copycat, but it was still good. One odd thing that may be a one off, but worth noting is the wait time. With one other person there and no takeout pickups and three people in the kitchen, it took 35 minutes to get our first dishes. Over an hour later, we got our final dish- orange chicken. We couldn't figure out why there was such a long wait especially when other spots bring out the cucumbers within minutes of ordering. We were hungry so it added to the emotions, but worth calling out in case you're a rush.

We liked the Orange Chicken sauce a lot. It was sweet and well-spiced. The chicken pieces,…read morethemselves, were maybe a regional style I'm not familiar with. The chicken pieces in the dish came in the form of gargantuan balls of mixed meat, varying between white and dark. Sometimes the texture was pure meat, other times the meats' texture was very slippery/tender and fatty all in the same chunk of chicken. Dumpling Hot Pot Beyond's Veggie Wontons in Scallion Sauce were very good. Most veggie wontons in the green wonton wrap have a similar 'vegetable' flavor that I'm not crazy about but these have less of that flavor. I loved the sauce. I was so excited to taste the Bean Paste Bao's as they are not easy to find. The Dan Dan noodles were served warm and mixed with a fragrant sauce. The noodles had less of a sesame or peanut taste than I'm used to. Also, we ordered the slightly spice heat level yet these were the hottest Dan Dan noodles I've ever tasted. (See photo of receipt indicating desired spice level.) I like things hot but Lord Almighty! I am - apparently - not woman enough. I loved the hot chili oil and container of hot chili flakes to add to the dishes. The basic rice was good, as well. Basics like white rice are not to be underestimated. We liked the texture. I'd go back to experience the hot pot and more dim sum options if I'm in the area.
